Hyperlink Target In SharePoint Report Viewer Web Part

Jun 7, 2007

Has anyone been successful in configuring the Hyperlink Target property in the SSRS Sharepoint Web Part? I've tried every setting, including _blank, yet the behavior does not change.

Am I doing something incorrectly or is this not implemented correctly?

Is it possible to connect to the Report Viewer web part in SharePoint? This is the SharePoint integrated guy. I am displaying a report. I'd like to have links in the report that cause a sub-report or even a custom web page to open in another web part on the same page.

Is this possible?

Web Part Deserialization Error When Trying To Change Report Viewer Web Part Programmatically.

Oct 29, 2007

I have SSRS 2005 SP2 configured to work in Sharepoint integration. Everything works fine except that I am not able to programmatically change any property of report viewer web part (instance) that I have added on on home page of my sharepoint site.
I can do same thing via sharepoint UI but not through program. When my programs runs it fetches all web parts been added on home page, then I need to iterate through each one and find report viewer web part.
While iterating, as soon as I arrive to report viewer web part it is named as "Error web part" with error message as
"Windows SharePoint Services cannot deserialize the Web Part. Check the format of the properties and try again"

If someone has a solution, please respond at your earlist.

Thanks

SharePoint Services Report Viewer

Jan 12, 2007

Not 100% sure if this is the right forum, but its the one i'm mostly used to ...

We run one one machine Sharepoint Services 3.0, we've added the webpart cab file. When we add the Report explorer that points to the second server running SSRS this works fine. When we add the Report Viewer that point to that same server running SSRS it works fine.

But, when we link to output of the Explorer to the Viewer, or vice versa, the page comes corrupt and we have to hide or delete one of the components.

Any ideas, i've been looking for some articles, found a hotfix but they all were on v 2.0 .....

Kind Regards

Report Viewer Web Part - Error - Help!

Jan 26, 2007

I am trying to integrate reports that I have built with VS 2005 and deployed to my report server locally.

The path to the report is

http://SERVERNAME/Reports/Pages/Report.aspx?ItemPath=%2fBilling+System+Reports%2fBasic+Financial+Reports%2fBasic+Financial+Statistics+-+TimeKeeper+YTD

When I put that into the "Report" parameter the web part display an error:

The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information

And when I click on the ellipses, I get a pop up with the same error.

I installed SQL2005 SP2 and the RS Add on for MS sharepoint CTP

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

Erik

Error Handling - Report Viewer - Sharepoint

Aug 22, 2007

Hi All,

I am deploying my reports on to the report viewer on a Sharepoint site. I wanted to know how to handle exception in the reports here. I was looking for exception handling in SSRS, but most of them are given with respect to displaying reports in ASP.NET pages. Is there any way I can configure Report Viewer to display friendly error messages instead of the vague error messages displayed from SSRS.

Thanks,
S Suresh

Target Queue Disabled: Strange Message On The Event Viewer

Jun 15, 2007

Hello,

I have almost finished to design my Service Broker application and I found out something strange.

I was tring to handle the Target queue disabled scenario, because I want to save to message that was not sent so I can create an alert to the user to say that some messages as not been sent.

To disable to queue I run:

Alter queue [dbo].[Receivedqueue] with status = off

I had the Event Viewer in front of me and I have seen the suddenly it appeared a lot of this informational events:

Event Type: Information
Event Source: MSSQLSERVER
Event Category: (2)
Event ID: 9724
Date: 15/06/2007
Time: 15:00:47

Description:
The activated proc [dbo].[OnReceived] running on queue TestReceiver.dbo.Receivedqueue output the following: 'The current transaction cannot be committed and cannot support operations that write to the log file. Roll back the transaction.'

For more information, see Help and Support Center at http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

What this message means?

I would like to avoid to have it because it appears a lot of time and I don't want to fill up my Event Viewer!!

I don't know of it is important but in the moment I executed the code there was not CONVERSING conversation and all the queues were empty.

Somebody has seen this error before or I have to send to the forum the [dbo].[OnReceived] code as well?

thankx

Target Platform As Part Of Configuration Settings

Jul 20, 2015

We have build configuration setup for each environment that we automatically deploy to (DEV, UA, PROD 1, PROD 2, etc.)  We've recently come across a scenario where one environment will now be running a different version of SQL Server than the others.

Is it possible to tie the Target Platform version to a configuration. Such that one configuration could target 2012 while another targets 2014?

Every time you select a parameter you have click "Apply" to see the the cascading parameter. Is this a bug with report viewer webpart, because this works on regular sql 2005 rs viewer.

Hyperlink:Jump To Report

Hi,

I have a report that uses Jump to Report and passes Reportname with parameter. Is
there a way to suppress the parameter value in the URL so the user is unable
to manipulate the parameter and execute the changed URL?

This is what I have so far..

="http://<servername>/ReportServer?/<folder>/<reportname>&<parametername>="+Fields!<fieldname>.Value.tostring

because when reports exported to excel, hyperlink path will be displayed and should not display to the user.

Or can we set Hyperline action dyamically?

Thank you.

Report Builder: Display Hyperlink

Jun 25, 2007

Using the Report Builder, the users need to generate a report in which one of the columns should have a hyperlink that navigates to a particular aspx page.

Now, I am able to provide for a hyperlink enabled column from the static reports designed using the Report Server Project. I have used the Navigation --> Jump To URL property of TextBox for this.

But the users dont want to depend on static reports and need this to be available via Report Builder.

I tried to provide for the <a href="somepage.aspx">xxx</a> from the named query in the datasource view, but when I run the report, the Reporting Service HTMLEncodes the tags and displays everything as text.

Is there a way to generate a hyperlink using Report Builder.

Report Viewer Jump To Issues With Relative Intra-report URLs

Dec 26, 2007

Hello,

Very strange phenomenon with the "Jump to report:" Hyerlink Actions when I deployed my reports to the production servers:

The Actions no longer funcioned properly when attempting to go to one report to another. Sometimes, the same report would come up and sometimes a different report. It appeared that whatever mechanism Report Server uses to construct the proper URL when using "Jump to report:" is unreliable(or the URL is not being honored by the web-server).

All this is happening under the Report Viewer control. I have had to do a painful fix of manually constructing the entire absolute URL and including the reportviewer control in the url.

Any way to get back relative Jump to report: URL's?

Thanks JS

SSRS Report Rendering Different In VS2005 And In Report Viewer Via URL Access

Apr 17, 2008

Hello,
I'm using Reporting Services to render a text (stored in sql as varchar(max)). The text is all plain text, with some lines having trailing spaces.

Source text file i've imported to SQL via SSIS:
CLIENT: 10055
STATEMENT 2007
DATE:1002993
THIS IS THE OTHER STATEMENT
COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN 3
TRY THIS

*Note the trailing spaces on the line before 'STATEMENT 2007'.

I've designed a report using the Report Project in VS2005 to retrieve this text via a stored procedure. When I test the report using the 'Preview' tab in the IDE, it looks good
CLIENT: 10055
STATEMENT 2007
DATE:1002993
THIS IS THE OTHER STATEMENT
COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN 3
TRY THIS

But when I deploy the report and run it using URL Access:

CLIENT: 10055
STATEMENT 2007
DATE:1002993

THIS IS THE OTHER STATEMENT

COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN 3
TRY THIS

On all lines with trailing spaces, they (the trailing spaces) have been removed. This is affecting my formatting of some reports and statements. We really want to use the report viewer as it has built in paging, print and export capabilities.

Why does it look okay in VS2005 but different in Report Viewer via URL Access and Report Manager?

Note: When I export as PDF, it looks okay.

The stored procedure I use to return the data is a CLR Hosted assembly as below:

Code Snippet
Partial Public Class StoredProcedures
<Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlProcedure()> _

Public Shared Sub GetPagedDocument(ByVal inText As SqlString)
Dim dr As SqlDataReader
Dim row As New SqlDataRecord(New SqlMetaData("RowText", SqlDbType.Text))
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand("select cast(doc as varchar(max)) as 'DOCTEXT' from testdoc WHERE id='" + inText + "'")
Dim cn As New SqlConnection("context connection=true")
cn.Open()
cmd.Connection = cn
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsStart(row) 'initialise the resultset to be returned
dr = cmd.ExecuteReader
'If no records in result set, return.
If Not dr.HasRows Then

row.SetString(0, "There is no document to display or you do not have permission to view the document.")
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsRow(row)
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsEnd()
' SqlContext.Pipe.Send("There is no document to display.")
Return
End If
'Read rows in the result set
dr.Read()

'Get the entire text
Dim docText As String = dr.Item("DOCTEXT")
'debug
row.SetString(0, docText)
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsRow(row)
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsEnd()
Return
'end debug

End Sub
End Class

Any help will be appreciated.
