I’m Getting This Error When Checking Out A Report From Visual Source Safe…any Clue As To What It Means?
Mar 22, 2007
Originally got this error as the reason some of my .rptproj files could not be converted from SRS 2000 to 2005. Now I€™m getting this error when checking out a report from Visual Source Safe 6.0€¦any clue as to what it means?
Project item '4294967294' does not represent a file.
This is for a solution created and stored in VSS using VS2003 and SRS 2000. Now trying to open with VS 2005.

I am using ODBC to access MS Sql Server 2000 Enterprise(& Prof.) Edition. While running some queries, I occassionaly get following error :- Error Text : [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]ConnectionWrite (send())" Error No : 10054 Source : Microsoft ODBC driver for SQL Server" as source. IMO, Its not related to specific query as I get it for different queries at different time and its infrequent. I have found a MS KB article for the error that says this error is possible in long queries if lightweight pooling (fiber mode) setting is enabled for SQL Server and the fix is to use SP2. I am already running with SP2 installed. I could not find another reference to this error. And as I am unable to locate cause of problem, I am not able to troubleshoot it. Any help will be appreciated.

Im am pulling down table called PRV from another server throught an ODBC connection in my SSIS package. I have the source and destination task all set up. I get this error when i run the packag. Most of the time, the error is pretty self explanatory but this one is .....beyond me. Any ideas.

I have not yet changed over all my reports to use fully qualified urls yet. As we have multiple domains in which the reports need to go through before they hit the production server and i haven't yet decided how i am going to handle the issues of the reports requiring fully qualified addresses (if someone has a way i would love to know).
I was getting the following error when i tried to deploy the projects but i delete all extensions from the blocked file types and that error went away. I can only guess that there was a file type it didn't like.
Error - "The file you are attempting to save or retrieve has been blocked from this Web site by the server administrators."
When i deleted all the file extensions i now get the following error.
Error - "File Not Found."
Just wondering if anyone has had any success with visual studio and sharepoint deployment or run into this problem.
I have a MsAccess db containing a table called Employees which i am transforming to Sql server 2005. Everything is working fine. I am using Foreach File enumerator and uploading the files one by one.
However I now plan to validate the schema of MsAccess before uploading it. For eg: My employee table in msaccess is as follows :
Employees empId int, empName varchar(60), empAge int
Since the files come from different vendor, while looping, i want to perform a check if the empid or empAge are not of type long or are not null. If they are of type smallint,i have no problem.
However if they are larger datatypes than the the ones kept in Sql server, then the file needs to be logged in the db with the reason and moved to the error folder. In short, if the datatypes in access tables are smaller than those in Sqlserver, allow it, otherwise reject it.
THe schema of Sqlserver table is same as of that of Employees in msaccess.
I have written a report visual studio. Â The report has 10 multi-value parameters that pull data from their individual data sets within the reports. Â When running the report from within Visual Studio it renders fine. Â There are no errors reported, only a warning related to a pathname I have use to retrieve image data and display on the report.Deployment of the report is error free. When I view the report I briefly get the "Loading" splash window, but then nothing. Â None of the headers or static text is displayed. Â The results window is blank.
The report defaults all the parameter values. Â In trying to debug the issue I have found by reducing the number of parameter values the report will render. Â Once I have all the values added, the report does nothing.Below is the query being used for the report. Â The where clause in the query shows the parameters being used and the syntax. We are running on Windows Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2008 R2.

I am getting the following error when I attempt to deploy my test report.
"Failed to Deploy Report, The user 'XXX/IUSR_XXX' has insufficient rights to perform this action."
Has anyone gotten this error before, I have tried every permission option I could with the IUSR account by adding it to each folder etc ...and still get no resolve. Anyone have a fix for this bug ?
I am having a hard time finding the report path for the web report Viewer in visual studio 2005. I have tried entering the absoute path to the folder containing the reports. this gave the error that the path is invalid. I have also tried reletive paths using / and // in the front of the name for each report. these all fail. could someone please assist with finding the path to the reports? the reports reside on another server away from the one being used for development of the web site.
Hi - I am wondering if anyone can give me good advice on the following situation:
I'm a new employee at a place where the SQL Server/Visual Source Safe admin has left. Only his co-worker has a VSS account and the VSS admin never gave her the admin p/w and he cannot be contacted. We need to have an account set up for me.
My question is: How can this be done with the knowledge of the admin p/w? Would we have to backup the files, un-install VSS, re-install it and set up the admin account again, or have I answered my own question? Or are we screwed? I don't have enough experience with VSS to make a decision. At this point we're considering calling "Geek Sqaud" or "Geeks on Call", etc.
I am not able to see the Data Source in Visual studio 2012. I have tried several things like 'Alt + shift + D' which is meant to bring up the datasource tab but it does not. I have also looked in view->Other windows but its not displayed there.
I had created a Integration services project within my local system. All my packages are running fine.I added it to source control. Now i added this project from source control to another machine. It is failing to run...The path it is trying to execute is the location of the where i actually created my project.
I am trying to edit an SSIS package due to a change in the schema of one of the source tables. When I open the package in Visual Studio, I see the exclamation mark on the object but before I can make change or go to edit anything in the package, I hear the "dumphhh" sound that indicates an error. There is no dialogue box but the program is now locked up. Then after 10 - 20 seconds the program closes.
How am i supposed to add the new column to the data source metadata if I can't edit the package?
Is there a way to find out if the user entered the date in correct format for the report parameter? For example, I am using string data type and requring the user to enter date in yyyy/mm/dd format. Can I capture and prompt the user accordingly if the date string is not provided in the above format?
The goal is to address visual source safe database on the network. We have the srcsafe.ini in the network as \ipaddrsrcsafe.ini. Now I create a new VSSDatabase object and call its OpenDb. Well for simple consle app or winform it is ok. But I was running it under Sql server Stored Procedure. It failed for I cannot access the source safe path throgh the COM object.
I know it is because of Windows identity. So I add the following code before I want to open the database, changing the to the WindowsIdentity: WindowsIdentity impersonId = SqlContext.WindowsIdentity; WindowsImpersonationContext orgCtx = null; try { orgCtx = impersonId.Impersonate(); VSS_Database = new MVSI.VSSDatabase(); // VSS_Database.ImpersonateCaller = true; VSS_Database.Open(Path, UserName, PassWord); } catch (Exception err) {
Without the commented line "// VSS_Database.ImpersonateCaller = true", this does not work at all. It just behave like no changes to the windows identity. However if I add this code, well, OpenDb will result in a No-response query. The Sql server is running the query with no responses. Have you ever met that before? I am really frustrated. Thanks
I am using sql server 2005 standard edition and i have installed MSXML core services 6 and also ADOMD.net for analysis services. i am using visual studio 2005 version of 8.0.5072742 and the problem that i am facing is when i use to develop reports using Analysis services as a data source , the error message pops up and VS 2005 gets crashed.
i could define the dataset , layout part and when i prees the preview , it gets crashed. could any one help me on this problem to sort out.
I have few reports under different folders in Report Manager. Is there a way to set the data source for the whole folder rather than each report individually? There is also a folder where reports generate dynamically. Since the report project doesn't exist anymore, I can't set the data source through code. How can I set the data source for the whole folder?
I've run out of ideas on what to do with a DTS process that has suddenly started giving an error when one company is processed on it.
Here's the deal:
DTS package launches a complex set of stored procedures (built entirely without error handling) as a step in importing data from various customers. I have isolated the error to one segment where I have to cursor through records that have been identified as having changes. Unfortunately, this cursor is updating about 15 system tables and uses modular stored procedures, about 12 of them, to do the job.
Error: The classic Subquery returned more than one value.
Oddity: If I run the code in Query Analyzer I never get an error, the code finishes without complaints. If I run the exact same code via the DTS package I always get the error. Note that the cursor appears to process every row assigned to it and then the sproc throws the error.
What I've Tried: 1) The obvious, reviewing the code for any unprotected subqueries. Haven't found it. 2) Checking for @@Error = 1 at key points in the code to try to isolate where this is happening. Can't catch it.
Note that this same process is used for several other company's data import process and they do not error even when running the DTS package. Therefore I'm assuming it is a data issue with the one company that errors that is causing the problem.
Any suggestions on what to try next would be greatly appreciated!
Just a brief question. I have a script which does a number of insert statements. What I would like to do is determine if the insert statements were all successful. Aside from checking @@ERROR after every insert, is there a way to check if all the insert statements completed successfully?
I have built a procedure to send mail using OLE Automation and want to be able to trap error information when it doesn't work. So in an attempt to do that I have the following stored procedure that will return informaiton if the return value is <> 0. Here is how it is being used:
IF @return <> 0 BEGIN
EXECUTE sp_displayoaerrorinfo @handle, @return
END ELSE PRINT 'Success'
This works fine, but I would like to write the error message to a table and so I thought I could just alter to to be:
Where @failure is a variable I declared earlier. Then I could insert the value of this variable along with some other infomration into a table that would track the errors. However, when I do this I receive the following:
Error: Procedure or Function 'sp_DisplayOAErrorInfo' expects parameter '@HResult', which was not supplied. Number:201 Severity:16 State:4
So it isn't seeing that I am passing two variables into the stored procedure. I know I must be missing something simple but I've tried a bunch of different itterations and can't seem to get it right. Any help would be great. Thanks.
I have a stored procedure that inserts records into the database. It has error checking that checks for transaction failure, and if it happens it rollback the transaction.
IF @@error <> 0 BEGIN ROLLBACK TRANSACTION RETURN END
My question is how can I test if the error checking works?
INSERT INTO databasesize (dbid, updatedate, dbsize) VALUES (5, getdate(), 25) IF @@ERROR <> 0 ROLLBACK TRANSACTION ELSE
COMMIT TRANSACTION
FETCH NEXT FROM dbnames_cursor INTO @dbname, @dbid
END
CLOSE dbnames_cursor DEALLOCATE dbnames_cursor
dbid column in the databasesize table is a primary key, so I when I try to insert records with the same dbid, I can an error message that duplicate row can't be inserted. That is fine, however, when I query databasesize table, there are 4 records with the dbid 5. With the error checking I have I thought I shouldn't get any records in the table, since there is an error transaction should be rolled back. Two questions: Can you tell me what I am doing wrong? Also, I need to add error checking after execute sp_executesql statement. Any suggestions?

Hi, I have a project that has been given to me and need help please. The complete class is as follows Public Class CarAccessData Public Function Getcarinfo() As List(Of CarInfo) Dim AllCarInfo As New List(Of CarInfo) Dim SQL As String SQL = "SELECT [SKU], [CarMake], [CarModel], [Carprice]" Dim MyConnection As SqlConnection MyConnection = New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.ConnectionStrings("AntConnectionString1").ConnectionString) Dim aCmd As SqlCommand aCmd = MyConnection.CreateCommand aCmd.CommandText = SQL aCmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text Dim aDataReader As SqlDataReader Try MyConnection.Open() aDataReader = aCmd.ExecuteReader While aDataReader.Read() AllCarInfo.Add(New CarInfo(aDataReader)) End While Catch ex As Exception Throw ex Finally aDataReader.Close() MyConnection.Close() End Try Return AllCarInfo End Function End Class
The bit I dont quite understand is the following snippet from above
Dim aCmd As SqlCommand aCmd = MyConnection.CreateCommand aCmd.CommandText = SQL aCmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text Dim aDataReader As SqlDataReader Try MyConnection.Open() aDataReader = aCmd.ExecuteReader While aDataReader.Read() AllCarInfo.Add(New CarInfo(aDataReader)) End While Catch ex As Exception Throw ex Finally
Can anyone explain this in real ABC style step by step please, just so I can start to understand this, ( I am quite new to this) many thanks, Anteater
I have no idea what I'm doing in SQL Server 2000... honestly no DBMS. I have a book at home but am required to do a backup of about 20 databases today (updating software tonight). Can anyone help me out? I found this (http://www.databasejournal.com/img/backupdatabase.sql) script but do not know how to run it (query analyzer?).
