Oct 25, 2005I forget my dts password for an dts on Sql 2000 SP3 .How can i reset or find my password for edit my DTS .I have db admin and sys admin user rights on this database.

LOST SA PASSWORD HELP!!

My company took over a project that another company was building. The other company switched all the passwords for the system and the database right before they left. No one has the passwords to the system or the database. Is there a way I can dump the data, or re-mount the drives into a different machine and get the data? Or am I just screwed? I have physical access to the machine and I can do anything needed I just need this data asap!!

I import a package into Integration Services (it containt 3 ole db connections to SQL Server), then I schedule this into a job.
When I run the job, it failed !
For the connections, I use a sql user and, in the step that run package, I notice that the password isn't store
I add password in the connection string ("Password=password;") and when I rerun the job, it terminate with success.
My question is: Is it possible to store the password directly into the package and so avoid password encoding several times ?

SA Password Lost In MS SQL 2005
Oct 3, 2007I need to retrieve the SA Password through MS SQL 2005. The reason why is I am trying to connect a number of computers in the same building for an Address Book to be shared by everyone. I will be using the program, Addressinator! to do this. But I need to have the SA password in order to connect the computers.
I am running Windows XP. I have read a few instructions on how to retrieve or make a new password on the net, but most of it doesn't make sense to me.
For Example, this is one that I found:
To reset the sa password, you can make the following:
1. Login to the SQL Server box as the Administrator.
2. Run SQL Server Enterprise Manager. (I don't have the Enterprise Manager)
3. Right-click the server name and choose 'Edit SQL Server Registration properties'. (I can't find the properties!)
4. Choose 'Use Windows authentication' and click OK button.
5. Expand a server, expand a Security and click Logins.
6. Double-click the sa login and specify new password on the General tab.
I hope someone can help me out with this.

Changing Lost SA Password
Jul 23, 2005I just started a new job and no one seems to know the SA password.Here's my plan to change it:1. I've run a trace for a couple of days to verify that there are nojobs or processes that are connecting as SA and that would break if Ichanged the password.2. Before the changing the password I am going to bulk copy out thesysxlogins row for SA so that if things go wrong I can reinset the olddata with the old unknown password (will that work?).3. Log on to the console as Windows administrator and changing the SApassword.Does that make sense? Anyone have any other suggestions?Thanks.

I tell you my problem...
I have an DB2 source and SQL destination. I have 2 ConnectionManager. One for DB2 (IBM DB2) and other for SQL. Both are of the OleDB type.
Well. I setup my connections and it work fine. Now i want to change my ConnectionManager for others sources or destinations. And I don't want to have to change the connection in more than forty packages.
For this, i have 2 XML configuration file in package configurations. One for connection. In this XML i have the connectionstring, user and password. These files are obtained in all the packages.
Well. If i change the connectionstring in this XML file configuration, only work fine the OLEDB for SQL. The conection for DB2 return the fail: "The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "_packagename_" failed with error code 0xC0202009."
I have proven to modify protectionLevel of the package to DontSaveSensitive. SQL work fine. DB2 fails. I have changed to EncryptSensitiveWithPassword. The same.
Why the packages obtain the data of connection of the configuration file for SQL and it does not work or with the configuration file for DB2.
This is bug?

I COULD get it back if there was a way to convert the SQL 2005 DB to an SQL 2000 DB, seeing as how I found a password cracker for that version. Is there anyway to convert a 2005 DB back to a 2000 DB?
Does anyone have any other ideas they might want to lay on me?
I'm kind of sick about this... I'm usually a really good note-taker; In fact, I do have the sa password recorded in an IT database that I keep. Unfortunately the password just doesn't work. I've tried the caps lock and other variations, but the password just eludes me.

Lost Server Registrations When Change Domain Password
Aug 4, 2006I am using the Management Sudio Express and after I changed my domain password, I lost all of my SQL Server registrations.
I remember this was an old problem with SQL 2000 until a SP fixed it.
Any ideas?

SSIS - Data Source Password Lost When Imported Into Integration Services
Apr 17, 2007 After designing a SSIS package in Visual Studio 2005 that had two connection manager defined to keep the password. After I deployed the package to a file system. I then Imported the .dtsx file after making a Integration Services connection in Sql Server Management Studio. When I tried to run the package it failed when it tried to make the connection. When I edited the connection manager connection string and added the password and the package ran fine but it does not retain the password!. I need to have this package scheduled to run daily so I need to know how to have the package keep the password in the connection string. I have seen other posts on this issue but not seen a good solution. Could someone point me to the proper MSDN article that would explain how to implement this ? Is it a SQL Server configuration issue or a property in Visual Studio SSIS design time ?

Apr 1, 2008I have a package protected by a password - I am already unhappy that to get it to use the configuration file to change connection strings for the production servers I have had to hardcode the password into the config file - very insecure!
However, the package now deploys correctly to the production server and will run from there OK, but NOT if scheduled as a SQL Server Agent Job. Thus is because however often I edit the command line to include the password after the DECRYPT switch (which it has prompted me for when I click on the command line tab), the Job Step will not retain it.
If I open it up after I have edited it and closed it, the password has disappeared.
I know that if I run dtexec plus the code in the Command Line tab (with the password), the package runs OK.
This is driving me insane!
I have read all the other posts and so I tried replacing the SSIS package step with a CmdExec step and pasting that code into there - then I get an OLEDB error..
The code I use is:
DTEXEC /SQL "ImportRateMonitoringTables" /SERVER servername /DECRYPT password /CONFIGFILE "D:Microsoft SQL ServerSSISDeploymentsRateMonitoringImportTasksDeploymentImportRateMonitoringTables_Production.dtsConfig" /MAXCONCURRENT " -1 " /CHECKPOINTING OFF /REPORTING E
and I get

Please does anyone have any experience with a similar problem and if so, how did you get round it?

SQL 2005 SP2 - Windows 2003 Ent SP1 - Password Does Not Meet The Password Policy DLL
Jun 18, 2007I am receiving the following error message when attempting to create a new SQL Authenticated login id.
Password validation failed. The password does not meet the requirements of the password filter DLL. (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 15119)
I have four servers all running SQL Server 2005 SP2 on Windows 2003 Ent. SP1. Of the four servers, only one received the above error message using the same TSQL below.
CREATE LOGIN TEST_LOGIN WITH PASSWORD = 'pvif9dal' MUST_CHANGE, CHECK_EXPIRATION = ON
All four servers are in the same domain, which if I understand correctly, the password policies are therefore inherited at the OS level by the domain. The password being used is within the password policies of the domain.
Any ideas as to a root cause?

Remember My Password Is Forgetting Password
Mar 11, 2008On the login prompt for Report Server, there is a checkbox option to "Remember my Password." I check this, login successfully... but when returning to the Report Server, I am again prompted for the password, although the user name is saved. No matter how many times I do this, the password will not save in IE7. I have tried this on 3 different computers with IE7. In IE 6, I do not even get the checkbox as an option, just the user name/password prompt. In Firefox, the password saves fine. Any ideas what would be causing this?

We use windows NT authentication. We did not do any change on NT. The SQL Server daily schedule job usally stoped at 10:00AM, but today from the Window NT Task Manager, we can see that the SQL Server is still running untill now.

Equivalent To MySQL's Password() Function? (was MySQL To SQL Server And Password())
Mar 3, 2005I have an internal Project Management and Scheduling app that I wrote internally for my company. It was written to use MySQL running on a Debian server, but I am going to move it to SQL Server 2000 and integrate it with our Accounting software. The part I am having trouble with is the user login portion. I previously used this:

Apparently the password() function is not available when accessing SQL Server via ODBC. Is there an equivalent function I could use isntead so the passwords arent plaintext in the database? I only have 15 people using the system so a blank pwd reset wouldn't be too much trouble.
URGENT.Sql Server Does Not Recognise MAPI , Or Profile Name URGENT
Oct 26, 2000hi, I have settup up sql mail and did the following:
1. created an E-mail account and configured Out look by creating a pop3 mail profile. tested it by sending and receiving mail, that is ook
2. I Created one domain account for MSsqlserver and Sql Agent service. both services use same account and start automatically in the control panel-services
3. I used the profile that I created in outlook to test the sql mail but got an error:
Error 22030 : A MAPI error ( error number:273) occurred: MapiLogon Ex Failed due to MAPI
Error 273: MAPI Logon Failed
I really do not know what went wrong. I followed the steps from bol and still having a problem. Am I missing something.
I do have a valid email account
I do have a valid domain account
I tested outlook using the email account and it worked. so why sql server does not recognise MAPI.
My next question, How to configure MAPI in Sql server if what I did was wrong.

I have activated the Server-Requested Encryption by using the sql server network utility (Force Protocol Encryption). After this, I have stoped sql server service. But I can't start it at this moment.
The error is:
19015: The encrypton is required but no available certificat has been found.
Please help me to start sql server.

For some reason, we lost a dozen of our tables with valuable data. could be a virus or something that cleared out our data.
The last backup we have is last night at 11PM. If we recover from that backup, all the users lose all of today's work!
Is there a way I can just roll back the transactions from today?????!

I am completely new to SQL. I have downloaded SQL Server Express 2005. I guess I need to download another program now like SQL Query Analyaer so that I can query a database - can anyone recommend a free download that will do the job?? I had a play around with one that I downloaded but to be honest, I have no idea on how to get the two programs talking.
Is someone able to guide me through how to initially set up SQl Server and how to get evrything working??

New To SQL && Lost

After much hard work and effort I finally got SQL Server downloaded and opened. I am at a lost since the "Dummies" books, SQL & SQL Servier 2005 Reporting Services, I have don't (I can't find or understand) explain what I am trying to do. I have been able to create a couple of table, but can't see them. I can see the queries but not the actual table unless I run a query. How can I open the table it self?
Would to import an Access table in the SQLEXPRESS but can't figure out how. Can I get some guidence?
Any help I can get would be helpful. Thank you in advance.

Lost In The Land Of SQL....
Jun 8, 2007Hello,I am using visual studio express edition. I making a nice website that uses the ASPNETDB.MDF for all those cool asp 2.0 membership and roles stuff.. This uses a SQL express database. OK so far. I have tried and tried to get my website live so I can further test it, but I can't People have been helpful, escpecially Bruce from this forum. I need more than help I guess. I really need to get this website up. Can someone please tell me where I can go to hire someone who will talk me through this process. I am not a programmer, I am a hobbyist. I understand SQL to select and update my database, but I can't do the stuff I read in FAQ's. It seems to be written for professionals. I have tried 3 different hosting services none seem to work. Please someone send me a private msg. we can work out terms. I am sure with someone over the phone that knows sql express and visual web developer expres will have me up and running in a jiffy. I don't know how to convert Customer_Invoice_Cart.CustomerID to a @CustomerID to add to the table. Lost All SQL Data, Help !!
Aug 18, 2004I used sql 2000 create a data base at home call 'Mysite' several months ago, there are about eight tables and 30 stored procedures. When I run my asp.net program at home yesterday, and found can't connect to database. The error as follow: "Cannot open database requested in login 'Mysite'. Login fails. Login failed for user 'MINGYANG-MSONXHASPNET'. "
When I open the database, very surpriced to found that my database was suspect and not any item inside it. The suspect database include CommunityStarterKit. But Northwind and pubs database still there?
What happen? Last week I just download new Norton antivirus software, does have any relationship with it? Does data really gone? How to solve this problem?
Please help me if you have these experience.
