Import Table - Sign Problem

May 24, 2004

Hi,

I have imported a table from Oracle to SQL server using the tool in enterprise manager.

Some of the columns were numeric and had negative values.

In Query analyzer these numbers show up as positive. But when i add a where clause and only ask for the values < 0 the same numbers show up bit still without a negative sign.

Does anyone have an explanation for this?
(could have found some help if the search function was working....)

Workaround?

Thanks,
YakoBay

The Push Method Returned One Or More Error Rows. See The Specified Error Table. [ Error Table Name = ]

Jan 10, 2008

Hi,
I have application in which i am performing synchronization between SQL Server 2000 and SQL Server 2005 CE.
I have one table "ItemMaster" in my database.There is no relationship with this table,it is standalone.I am updating its values from Windows Mobile Device.

I am performing below operations for that.
Step : 1 Pull To Mobile

Code BlockmoSqlCeRemoteDataAccess.Pull("ItemMaster", "SELECT * FROM ItemMaster", lsConnectString,RdaTrackOption.TrackingOn);

Step : 2 Using one device form i am updating table "ItemMaster" table's values.

Step : 3 Push From Mobile

Code BlockmoSqlCeRemoteDataAccess.Push("ItemMaster", msConnectString);

So i am getting an error on 3rd step.
While i am trying to push it says,
"The Push method returned one or more error rows. See the specified error table. [ Error table name = ]".
I have tried it in different ways but still i am getting this error.

Note : Synchronization is working fine.There is not issue with my IIS,SQL CE & SQL Server 2k.

Can any one help me?I am trying for that since last 3 days.

Remote Computer Not Able To Sign Into SQL Get Login Error

Jul 12, 2006

I have 2 xp machines one has the SQL EXPRESS Server with all the goodies on it and the other I just install the client stuff. I am using VB 6 to program with using the ADO. It works great on the server machine. The software pulls up great. I can't seem to get it to work on the client machine. I get "Login failed for user 'TIGGERLGuest'. I found the places to set the TCPIP setings on the server SQL Express to allow this even turned on the browser but nothing same error. I am using the same login on both machines and am pointed to the same workgroup. I used window authentication when I set them up. Not sure why it insists on using Guest.

This is a copy of the connection string I am using

"Provider=SQLNCLI.1;Integrated Security=SSPI;Persist Security Info=False;AttachDBFileName="c:mpsdbmpswarehouse.mdf;Database=MPSDB;Data Source=tiggerlsqlexpress;Trusted_Connection=yes;"

Not sure if this is okay for connecting remote. Any help would be greatly appreciated

SSMS Express: Create TABLE && INSERT Data Into Table - Error Msgs 102 && 156

May 18, 2006

Hi all,

I have SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMS Express) and SQL Server 2005 Express (SS Express) installed in my Windows XP Pro PC that is on Microsoft Windows NT 4 LAN System. My Computer Administrator grants me the Administror Privilege to use my PC. I tried to use SQLQuery.sql (see the code below) to create a table "LabResults" and insert 20 data (values) into the table. I got Error Messages 102 and 156 when I did "Parse" or "Execute". This is my first time to apply the data type 'decimal' and the "VALUES" into the table. I do not know what is wrong with the 'decimal' and how to add the "VALUES": (1) Do I put the precision and scale of the decimal wrong? (2) Do I have to use "GO" after each "VALUES"? Please help and advise.

Thanks in advance,

Scott Chang

Error Inserting Image Into SQL Server2000 Table From Pocket PC Application Only When Using Stored Procedure In Table Adapter Wiz

Apr 24, 2008

My Pocket PC application exports signature as an image. Everything is fine when choose Use SQL statements in TableAdapter Configuration Wizard.

main.ds.MailsSignature.Clear();

main.ds.MailsSignature.AcceptChanges();

string[] signFiles = Directory.GetFiles(Settings.signDirectory);

foreach (string signFile in signFiles)

{

mailsSignatureRow = main.ds.MailsSignature.NewMailsSignatureRow();

mailsSignatureRow.Singnature = GetImageBytes(signFile); //return byte[] array of the image.

main.ds.MailsSignature.Rows.Add(mailsSignatureRow);

}

mailsSignatureTableAdapter.Update(main.ds.MailsSignature);

But now I am getting error "General Network Error. Check your network documentation" after specifying Use existing stored procedure in TableAdpater Configuration Wizard.

ALTER PROCEDURE dbo.Insert_MailSignature( @Singnature image )

AS

SET NOCOUNT OFF;

INSERT INTO MailsSignature (Singnature) VALUES (@Singnature);

SELECT Id, Singnature FROM MailsSignature WHERE (Id = SCOPE_IDENTITY())

For testing I created a desktop application and found that the same Code, same(Use existing stored procedure in TableAdpater Configuration Wizard) and same stored procedure is working fine in inserting image into the table.

Is there any limitation in CF?

Professor Corrie.

Aspnet_Users' LastActivityDate VS. Aspnet_Membership's LastLoginDate

Jul 17, 2007

In my web application, each person's page is to display when their last logged on date and time was. Which is the proper value to access - LastActivityDate or LastLoginDate?
Also, if I wanted to obtain the amount of time that has elapsed since the person last logged in until now, would I do something like .....
DateTime.Now.Subtract(Membership.GetUser("username").LastLoginDate()).TotalHours()
if I wanted to represent the time elapsed in hours? Just wanted to make sure this is the correct method.
Thanks. :)

When I execute

I get the error. "The OLE DB provider "MSDAORA" for linked server "...." does not contain the table "COUNTRY". The table either does not exist or the current user does not have permissions on that table."
The 'sp' user I am connecting is the owner of the table. What could be the problem ?

Default Table Owner Using CREATE TABLE, INSERT, SELECT && DROP TABLE

Nov 21, 2006

For reasons that are not relevant (though I explain them below *), Iwant, for all my users whatever privelige level, an SP which createsand inserts into a temporary table and then another SP which reads anddrops the same temporary table.My users are not able to create dbo tables (eg dbo.tblTest), but arepermitted to create tables under their own user (eg MyUser.tblTest). Ihave found that I can achieve my aim by using code like this . . .SET @SQL = 'CREATE TABLE ' + @MyUserName + '.' + 'tblTest(tstIDDATETIME)'EXEC (@SQL)SET @SQL = 'INSERT INTO ' + @MyUserName + '.' + 'tblTest(tstID) VALUES(GETDATE())'EXEC (@SQL)This becomes exceptionally cumbersome for the complex INSERT & SELECTcode. I'm looking for a simpler way.Simplified down, I am looking for something like this . . .CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.TestInsert ASCREATE TABLE tblTest(tstID DATETIME)INSERT INTO tblTest(tstID) VALUES(GETDATE())GOCREATE PROCEDURE dbo.TestSelect ASSELECT * FROM tblTestDROP TABLE tblTestIn the above example, if the SPs are owned by dbo (as above), CREATETABLE & DROP TABLE use MyUser.tblTest while INSERT & SELECT usedbo.tblTest.If the SPs are owned by the user (eg MyUser.TestInsert), it workscorrectly (MyUser.tblTest is used throughout) but I would have to havea pair of SPs for each user.* I have MS Access ADP front end linked to a SQL Server database. Forreports with complex datasets, it times out. Therefore it suit mypurposes to create a temporary table first and then to open the reportbased on that temporary table.

Dbo.Table Of A Database In The .SQLEXPRESS Object Explorer: How To Copy The Dbo.Table To The Another Blank Dbo.Table?

Jan 9, 2008

Hi all,

The following dbo.Tables of Northwind.mdf in my .SQLEXPRESS (SQL Server Management Studio Express) are missing:
dbo.Categories
dbo.CustomerCustomerDemo
dbo.CustomerDemographics
dbo.Customers
dbo.Employees
dbo.EmployeeTerritories
dbo.Order Details
dbo.Orders
dbo.Products
dbo.Regions
dbo.Shippers
dbo.Suppliers
dbo.Territories.

But, I have these dbo.Tables in a different Database "xyzDatabase". How can I copy each of these dbo.Tables to the another blank dbo.Table of Northwind Database?

I right clicked on the dbo.Categories and I saw the following thing:
dbo.Categories
New Table...
Modify
Open Table
Script Table as |> CREATYE To |>
DROP To |>
SELECT To |>
INSERT To |> New Query Editor Window
File....
Clipboard
UPDATE To |>
DELETE to |>
From the above observation,I think it is possible to copy the dbo.Table from the one Database to the Northwind Database that needs to be repaired. Please help and advise me how to do this task or tell me where I can find the Microsoft document that gives the details of this X-copy thing.

Thanks in advance,
Scott Chang

P. S. I am using VB 2005 Express to create a project to learn "Calling Stored Procedures with ADO.NET" (see Paul Kimmel's article in http://www.developer.com/db/article.php/3438221) that needs the dbo.Tables of Northwind Database and my Northwind Database has been screwed up for quite a while and needs a big repair.

Error Using Web Site Administration Tool

Mar 7, 2007

I am getting the following error using the Web Site Administration
Tool. I have created the database I want to use. Please
help.Could not establish a connection to the database.
If you have not yet created the SQL Server database, exit the Web Site
Administration tool, use the aspnet_regsql command-line utility to
create and configure the database, and then return to this tool to set
the provider.

The utility either is not working or I do not know how to use it.

I have SQL 2005 Express and SQL 2000. SQL 2000 is working
properly, not sure about SQL 2005. I have been told to use SQL
2000 because that is what our server is using. I am developing on
my server and when application works will port to our server.

Serious Error In RS Licensing Docs On MS Web Site

Sep 18, 2006

Correct me if I'm wrong...
There is a potentially costly error in at least 2 Reporting Services
2005 licensing docs on Microsoft€™s web site. They fixed the docs a few months
ago after I called and told them about it but, now they are bad again! Here are
links to the bogus docs:

http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/howtolicensers.mspx

http://www.microsoft.com/sql/howtobuy/sqlserverlicensing.mspx

Both of these docs say that you need 2 SQL licenses to run
Reporting Services 2005 on a separate server from the SQL engine. This is not
true. You only need 1 license! You do of course need the correct number of CAL's or a CPU license.

The license.txt file that ships on the SQL Server 2005 standard edition install
disk is very clear about this. As you know this is the only doc that is
legally binding. It€™s the only doc that matters. Also, I called and talked to both the
licensing department and the SQL Server product manager about this. Both
confirmed that this was done on purpose in response to customer feedback!

Please help me pressure the marketing document at Microsoft
to fix these confusing documents once and for all! This will be my last post
about this issue. I felt that I had to make one final attempt to get this fixed
before I give up. I€™m having a lot of trouble getting people to actually read
the license.txt and understand the issue. I bet you $5 that the first reply to
this thread will be someone who says I€™m wrong but didn€™t actually read the
license.txt file.

Thanks,
Greg

Hi All,

I have just installed SSRS 2005 SP2 on a x86 box (one of several boxes we use to run SSRS). However, on this particular machine, I get an http 404.3 error (file not found) when attempting to access any aspx file in the reports virtual directory. aspx files in the /reportserver site all return just fine.

All the check marks for the configuration site show green
I've uninstalled / re-installed / re-booted / etc...
No luck

This is a VM server....

Ideas?

Error Locating Server/Instance Specified From ASP.NET Site

Jan 9, 2007

I'm currently learning my way around with SQL Server 2005 and asp.net 2.0, and for this I wrote a little site that uses SQL Server for it's backend.

I developed it on my laptop, and it works great, until I deployed the website to my test server, so it's visible to the outside world.

The instance I try to access any page that invokes the database, I get the following error:
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified).

The server doesn't differ much from my laptop setup, except that it accepts connections through named pipes and TCP/IP and has the Network Service as a user(I also tried running the website under Administrator privileges, just to test it out).

Both IIS and the SQL Server running on the same machine(Windows 2003 Server SP1), and the SQL server accepts connections from a locally running SQL Management Studio Express instance. However: It does not accept connections from my laptop, which resides outside the domain. The server is set to use Windows Authentication for log ins.

What am I doing wrong here?

EDIT: Filled out this found questionare:

[1] Client side:

What is the connection string in you app or DSN? (please specify) connectionString="Data Source=.SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=EroSite;Integrated Security=True" providerName="System.Data.SqlClient"
If client fails to connect, what is the client error messages? Error Locating Server/Instance Specified
Is the client remote or local to the SQL server machine? LocalCan you ping your server? YesCan you telnet to your SQL Server? YesWhat
is your client database provider? ADO.NET2.0
Or/And, what is your client
application? Website using DataSets (Works fine with Server Management Studio)
Is your client computer in the same domain as the Server computer? Local machine
What protocol the client enabled? Shared Memory, TCPIP, Named Pipes.Do
you have aliases configured that match the server name portion of your
connection string? NoDo you select force encryption on server and/or client? No

[2] Server side:

What is the MS SQL version? SQL Server 2005What is the SKU of MS SQL? ExpressWhat
is the SQL Server Protocol enabled? Shared Memory | TCPIP | Named
Pipes
Does the server start successfully? YesIf SQL Server is a named instance, is the SQL browser enabled? YesWhat is the account that the SQL Server is running under? Local SystemDo
you make firewall exception for your SQL server TCP port if you want
connect remotely through TCP provider? not applicableDo
you make firewall exception for SQL Browser UDP port 1434? In SQL2000,
you still need to make firewall exception for UDP port 1434 in order to
support named instance. Not applicable

[3] Platform:
What is the OS version? Windows 2003 SP 1Do you have third party antivirus, anti-spareware software installed? No

Runtime Error When Connecting From The Site To Sql Server 2005

Nov 14, 2007

I moved all my databases to sql server 2005 & when appliction is trying to connect to 2005 databases i get the following error
In the connection string i am using
Password=test;Persist Security Info=True;User ID=test;Initial Catalog=test;Data Source=externalip/instancename

this is the only change on the web server

Runtime Error Description: An application error occurred on the server. The current custom error settings for this application prevent the details of the application error from being viewed remotely (for security reasons). It could, however, be viewed by browsers running on the local server machine.

Details: To enable the details of this specific error message to be viewable on remote machines, please create a <customErrors> tag within a "web.config" configuration file located in the root directory of the current web application. This <customErrors> tag should then have its "mode" attribute set to "Off".

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="Off"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>
Notes: The current error page you are seeing can be replaced by a custom error page by modifying the "defaultRedirect" attribute of the application's <customErrors> configuration tag to point to a custom error page URL.

<!-- Web.Config Configuration File -->

<configuration>
<system.web>
<customErrors mode="RemoteOnly" defaultRedirect="mycustompage.htm"/>
</system.web>
</configuration>

please let me know the problem
