I Want To Transfer ONLY New Records AND Update Any Modified Records From Oracle Into SQL Server Using DTS
Jul 23, 2005
I need a little help here..
I want to transfer ONLY new records AND update any modified records
from Oracle into SQL Server using DTS. How should I go about it?
a) how do I use global variable to get max date.
Where and what DTS task should I use to complete the job? Data Driven
Query? Transform data task? How ? can u give me samples. Perhaps you
can email me the Demo Package as well.
b) so far, what I did was,
- I have datemodified field in my Oracle table so that I can compare
with datelastrun of my DTS package to get new records
- records in Oracle having datemodified >Max(datelastrun), and transfer
to SQL Server table.
Now, I am stuck as to where should I proceed - how can I transfer these
records?
Hope u can give me some lights. Thank you in advance.
Hi when i am using OLDB Command for Update Existing Records the Follwing ERror Code I am getting . Any one pls help me on this one.
1)[DTS.Pipeline] Error: The ProcessInput method on component "OLE DB Command 1" (9282) failed with error code 0xC0202009. The identified component returned an error from the ProcessInput method. The error is specific to the component, but the error is fatal and will cause the Data Flow task to stop running.
2)

I have stored procedure to show 10 new record from table:SELECT TOP 10 *FROM tableWHERE (id = @id)ORDER BY id DESC and work fine.I'd like to show 10 new record and include modified record as new record. Wo to do that?
My manager ask me to provide him with the total number of records which have been added, deleted or modified on a certain database in SQL Server 2000 during the month of September. Is there away to get that information from the transaction log or by any how?
writing the query for the following, I need to collapse the continuity. If the termdate for an ID is one day less than the effdate of the next id (for the same ID) i need to collapse the records. See below example .....how should i write the query which will give me the desired output. i.e., get min(effdate) and max(termdate) if termdate is one day less than the effdate of next record.
I have an Oracle 9i server. To access the data in Oracle, I setup an ODBC connection to it and am able to return data from it using WinSQL (a general ODBC database client). The SQL statement is simply "SELECT * FROM COLOR" and all 133 records returned properly.
I need to copy the data from the Oracle server to SQL Express, therefore I set up linked server (by Microsoft ODBC provider) using the same ODBC connection as described above.
The problem is: only 32 records returned.
May I ask if there is any problem to this linked server setup?
declare @table table ( ParentID INT, ChildID INT, Value float ) INSERT INTO @table SELECT 1,1,1.2
[code]....
This case ParentID - Child 1 ,1 & 2,2 and 3,3 records are called as parent where as null , 1 is child whoose parent is 1 similarly null,2 records are child whoose parent is 2 , .....
Now my requirement is to display parent records with value ascending and display next child records to the corresponding parent and parent records are sorted ascending
Hi! I have 2 tables (both have the same structure): ID -> bigint (identity, not for replication, primary key) Url -> nvarchar(1000) MainUrl -> nvarchar(1000)
Tbl1 cantains about 0,5 mln records, and tbl2 - 1 mln. What I need, is to copy records from tbl2 to tbl1. But records in tbl1 are unique, and it can't change. (Unique must be only "Url"; (and ID, but it's automatic)). How can I do this in fast way? Now I'm using SELECT for each record in tbl2 to see if it exist in tbl1. But it's a bit slow... Is there any faster method? (One thing: I'm beginner in databeses, so I'm wrote VB application to transfer records. How can I do it using only Microsoft Sql server?) -------------- I'm forgot to write, I'm using MsSql 2005.
I am facing a big problem in data transfer from Access To SQL. Well the problem is i want to transfer nr about 50 lacs record from access to sql. at my side where sql server is complete install i could not find any problem and it transfer all data in 5 to 7 mins. now problem is at client side we not install entire sql but we install sql runtime which is available with installshied. and whenever i start to transfer data there is another exe called DLLHost.exe is run and it ate near about 70% to 75% Memory of system. well i use sql OPENROWSET statement and as soon as that statement fire at machine where entire sql is not install and only runtime install it starts to eat system memory so instead of transfer all data in 5 to 10 min it take more then 6 hrs bcaz dllhost.exe eat memory. is there any better way to transfer this records more fast pls let me know.
I am trying to transfer 90 million records/250 bytes row length from oracle 8i to sqlserver 2000 using DTS and it is taking 2 seconds to transfer 1000 records. Is there any way I can transfer 90 million records fast at all. This will take more than 10 hours to transfer it.
I used a data flow task, and when trying to transfer data from a OLE DB Source (records ~ 75 lac) to a destination OLE DB Source, SSIS fails at the middle giving an error saying the Transaction log got filled, try again after clearing the same.
My query is what is the most efficient way to transfer say records more than 50 lac ensuring that it doesn't fail in the middle?
I have a VB.NET Windows Application with a SQL 2K5 back end.
The application creates a view which produces approximately 5 million records. I am attempting to transfer these records to a table programmatically, but every attempt causes a timeout. The name of the source server and view will change depending on the client's installation.
Using the standard SQL connection/command objects with the "INSERT INTO TABLE (SELECT * FROM VIEW)" doesn't work at all.
What is the best way to transfer these records programmatically?
I have two tables that can be created with sample data using the DDL at the bottom of this post. What I'm looking to do is update the QtyReceived column in tblPurchaseOrderLineDetail from the Qty column in tblReceivedItems. However, the tricky part that I can't figure out is splitting these quantities out over multiple lines. I should only be allowed to receive up to the QtyOrdered column in tblPurchaseOrderLineDetail.
For a specific example from the sample data we'll look at PurchaseOrderDetailID 28526. From the tblReceivedItems, there are three records with quantities of 48, 48, and 20. From the tblPurchaseOrderLineDetail there are three records of QtyOrdered of 55, 45, and 20. What I would like to happen is fulfill the records in the tblPurchaseOrderLineDetail sequentially (essentially in order of ExpectedDate). So, the QtyReceived would be 55, 45, and 16 for the corresponding records. If there is already a quantity in the QtyReceived column, but it's less than the QtyOrdered column, the quantity needs to be added to the column (not overwritten).
DDL To CREATE Sample Tables and Data:
CREATE TABLE [dbo].[tblReceivedItems]( [ID] [int] IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL, [PurchaseOrderDetailID] [int] NULL, [Qty] [int] NULL) SET IDENTITY_INSERT [dbo].[tblReceivedItems] ON INSERT [dbo].[tblReceivedItems] ([ID], [PurchaseOrderDetailID], [Qty]) VALUES (1, 28191, 48)
Our system runs a SQL Server 2012 DB, it has a table (table_a) which has over 10M records. Our system have to receive data file from previous system daily which contains approximate 3M updated or new records for table_a. My job is to update table_a with the new data.
The initial solution is:
1 Create a table (table_b) which structur is as the same as table_a
2 Use BCP to import updated records into table_b
3 Remove outdated data in table_a: delete from table_a inner join table_b on table_a.key_fileds = table_b.key_fields
4 Append updated or new data into table_a: insert into table_a select * from table_b
As the test result, this solution is very inefficient. Step 3 costs several hours, e.g. How can I improve it?
Table2 contains fields Group, Name,Category, Dimension (Group and Name are not in Table1)
So basically I need to read the records in Table1 using Groupid and each time there is a Groupid then select records from Table2 where Table2.Category in (Select Catergory from Table1) and Table2.Dimension in (Select Dimension from Table1)
In Table1 There might be 10 Groupid records all of which are different.
I have a situation where deleting old records is blocking updating latest records on highly transactional table and getting timeout errors from application.
In details, I have one table called Tran_table1 in OLTP database. This Tran_table1 is highly transactional table, it will receive data for insert/update continuously
While archiving 2 years old records from Tran_table1 into Tran_table1_archive in batches(using DELETE OUTPUT INTO clause), if there is any UPDATEs on Tran_table1,these updates are getting blocked and result is timeout errors in application.
Is there any SQL Server hints to avoid blocking ..
I have been trying to solve the locking problem from past couple of days. Please help mee!!
Scenario: -------------- I have a SSIS package in which 2 data flow tasks. 1st data flow task deletes records from a 5 tables and the 2nd data flow task should insert records into 1 of the five tables after the success of 1st data flow task. This scenario runs in Transacation.
The above scenrio in the 2nd data flow task hangs in runtime. It does not complete. with sp_who2 command i could see that there is an intent share lock(LK_M_IS) on the table and the status is SUSPENDED.
I dont know how to come out of this locking. Please help.
I have a table with about half a million records, each representing a patient in my county.
Each record has a field (RRank) which basically sorts the patients as to how "unwell" they are according to a previously-applied algorithm. The most unwell patient has an RRank of 1, the next-most unwell has RRank=2 etc.
I have just deleted several hundred records (which relate to patients now deceased) from the table, thereby leaving gaps in the RRank sequence. I want to renumber the remaining recs to get rid of the gaps.
I can see what I want to accomplish by using ROW_NUMBER, thus:
SELECT ROW_NUMBER() Over (ORDER BY RRank) as RecNumber, RRank FROM RPL ORDER BY RRank
I see the numbers in the RecNumber column falling behind the RRank as I scan down the results
My question is: How to convert this into an UPDATE statement? I had hoped that I could do something like:
UPDATE RISC_PatientList_TEMP SET RRank = ROW_NUMBER() Over (ORDER BY RRank);
but the system informs that window functions will only work on SELECT (which UPDATE isn't) or ORDER BY (which I can't legally add).
I have a query similar to the following. The intent of this query is to retrieve the top 6 records meeting the specified criteria (LOGTYPENAME = 'Process Status Start' OR LOGTYPENAME = 'Process Status End' ) based on most recent dates. Please keep in mind that I expect to return up to 6 records for each unique LogProcessName. This could be thousands of different LogProcessNames with up to 6 records for each.
1) The table I am executing against currently is very large in size and thus takes a long time to execute against. It would seem there must be a more efficient query to get the results I am looking for? 2) CTE doesn't work on SQL 2000. I need a query that does. 3) I cannot modify the database itself in the process.
;WITH cte AS ( SELECT [LogProcessName], [LogBody], [LogDate], [LogGUID], row_number() OVER(PARTITION BY [LogProcessName] ORDER BY [LogDate] DESC) AS RN FROM [LOGTABLE] WHERE [LogTypeGUID] IN ( SELECT LogTypeGUID FROM LOGTYPE WHERE LogTypeName = 'Process Status Start' OR LogTypeName = 'Process Status End' ) ) SELECT * FROM cte WHERE RN = 1 OR RN = 2 OR RN = 3 OR RN = 4 OR RN = 5 OR RN = 6 ORDER BY [LogProcessName] DESC, [LogDate] DESC
Does anybody else have any idea that would yield the results that I am looking for and take into account items 1-3 above?
I would like to update Table 1 with the data from Table 2. Here is my problem..Lets say that I have two records in Table 2 that have the same policyNumber but two different NewEmpNames, it only takes the first. In other words, a single policynumber can be moved to a New EmpName and then again later on to another NewEmpName adn even again if need be
I am trying to update a field within one table with the values from another table. With the criteria that another field in each table are equal. What is the correct way to do this. My syntax is all wrong.
I have table1 which has many unique ID numbers and table2 that has many records for each ID. some of the ID numbers in table1 have changed and I have created a translation table (table3) that links the old and new ID numbers.
What I need to do is some sort of update sql statement that updates all the records in table2 changing all the oldID numbers to the new ones using the translation table.
Table1 and table2 are not linked...can anyone help me with the sql statement
example
Table 1 IDNUM NAME 12345 Joe 12346 Mary 12347 David
Good day to all, I am new here so i hope i am doing things correctly.
The Company i work for make coils of shaped wire and work a 6 - 6 shift pattern
I have a database that is updated from a data collection source (MS Access) at 06:00 every morning. This seems to be working ok, my problem is that most coils fit nicely into the 6 - 6 shift pattern, but some now and again drift over into the next shift. I have written a crystal report that picks up this data. at the moment the coils are put in the database as: [Coil Start Time], [Coil Finish Time], [Coil Start Weight], [Coil Finish Weight], etc.
I have written (been helped to write) a SQL statement that will do the following:
Step 1: If the Coil Finish time is greater than the shift end time, then set the shit end time to be coil end time and zero start and finish wheight. Step 2: The original Coil record is duplicated and Coil Start time set to start time of shift, all other data left alone.
Example of code:
-->>
SELECT [Batch Name], [Batch Start], [Batch End], [Coil Start Weight], [Coil Finish Weight], [Product], [Shift], [Operator ID], [Works Order No] FROM dbo.tblCoilData WHERE (DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) >= 6 AND DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) < 18) OR ((DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) < 6 OR DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) >= 18) AND (DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) < 6 OR DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) >= 18)) UNION ALL SELECT [Batch Name], [Batch Start], DATEADD(hour, 17, DATEADD(minute, 59, CONVERT(char(10), [Batch End], 101))), 0, 0, [Product], [Shift], [Operator ID], [Works Order No] FROM dbo.tblCoilData WHERE DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) >= 6 AND DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) < 18 AND (DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) < 6 OR DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) >= 18) UNION ALL SELECT [Batch Name], DATEADD(hour, 18, CONVERT(char(10), [Batch Start], 101)), [Batch End], [Coil Start Weight], [Coil Finish Weight], [Product], [Shift], [Operator ID], [Works Order No] FROM dbo.tblCoilData WHERE DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) >= 6 AND DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) < 18 AND (DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) < 6 OR DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) >= 18) UNION ALL SELECT [Batch Name], [Batch Start], DATEADD(hour, 5, DATEADD(minute, 59, CONVERT(char(10), [Batch End], 101))), 0, 0, [Product], [Shift], [Operator ID], [Works Order No] FROM dbo.tblCoilData WHERE (DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) < 6 OR DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) >= 18) AND DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) >= 6 AND DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) < 18 UNION ALL SELECT [Batch Name], DATEADD(hour, 6, CONVERT(char(10), [Batch Start], 101)), [Batch End], [Coil Start Weight], [Coil Finish Weight], [Product], [Shift], [Operator ID], [Works Order No] FROM dbo.tblCoilData WHERE (DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) < 6 OR DATEPART(hour, [Batch Start]) >= 18) AND DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) >= 6 AND DATEPART(hour, [Batch End]) < 18
<<--
I have 2 options now
option 1: Leave this as a SQL View and report from this
option 2: Insert updated records to the tblCoilData table so that the data in the table is permanent
I would prefer option 2 but am a bit of a nugget when it comes to writing update / insert statements, Could someone please help me with this
Update the taskname as 'projectname' + '_' + 'workname' for any projectid. projectname and workname coming from the projectid and workid in the task record
so the task table becomes 1,project1_work1,1,1 2,project1_work2,1,2 3,project2_work3,2,3
I can get all the records doing this
SELECT p.projectname+ ' ' + w.workname AS 'NEWNAME' FROM task t JOIN work w ON t.workid = w.workid JOIN project p ON t.projectid = p.projectid WHERE projectid = 2
I have one table of new records (tableA) that may already exist intableB. I want to insert these records into tableB with insert if theydon't already exist, or update any existing ones with new data if theydo already exist. A column (Action) in tableA already tells me whetherthis is an INSERT, UPDATE, or DELETE. I'm able to derive that I can doan insert withselect * into tableB from tableA where Action = 'INSERT'....and I think I can handle the delete. But I'm stuck on the update. How do I do the update? An ordinaryUPDATE statement just won't do unless I use a cursor to cycle throughthe recordset. I want to avoid a cursor.
How to use db-lib to update/insert database records without using SQLlanguage. I want to change the value of the data individually withoutplugging in the new values in the SQL language then execute it. Theperfect situation for me is loop through the retrieved records thenedit the values individually until EOF.Thanks,Carlo
I'm fairly basic in SQL and I was wondering if it was possible to update the id field of a certain table in all records of that table. And to update the links to those ids in other tables.
