Here is my requirement, How to handle using SSIS.
My flatfile will have multiple columns like :
ID key1 key2 key3 key 4
I have SP which accept 3 parameters ID, Key, Date
NOTE: Key is the coulm name from the Excel. So my sp call look like
sp_insert ID, Key1, date
sp_insert ID, Key2,date
sp_insert ID, Key3,date
Hi,ALL
I wants to insert data into multiple table within a single insert query
Thanks
Hi
I am trying to use multiple insert for a table T1 to add multiple rows.
Ti has trigger for insert to add or update multiple rows in Table T2.
When I provide multiple insert SQL then only first insert works while rest insert statements does not work
Anybody have any idea about why only one insert works for T1
Thanks
I want to insert 2 table at the same time . There are relationship between them .My tables are:
Topic : topicId, topicDate,topicInformation
Reply: replyId,topicId, replyInformation
I have a situation where I have Table A, Table B.
View C is created by joining table A and table B.
I have written a instead of trigger D on view C.
I do not insert/update/delete on the view directly.
For every insert/update in table A /B the values should get insert/update in the view respectively. This insert/update on view should invoke the trigger.
And I am unable to see this trigger work on the view if any insert/update occurs on base table level.
Trigger is working only if any operation is done directly on the view.
insert into table1 (colname) values (value1)
can only insert one record into the table. How to insert multiple records as value1, value2, value3... into a table?
We can of course use the above repeatedly, but if I don't know how many records (which is a variable), and I want to write a code which just take
value1, value2, value3 ....
from the clipboard, to paste as a input. How to insert those multiple records into table without split it. Thanks

View 7 Replies View RelatedI am trying to insert multiple rows into a table getting data from a web form.
I have 2 fields being passed from a web form to the below stored procedure
@FormBidlistID Sample Data --> 500
@CheckBoxListContractors Sample Data --> 124,125,145,154,156,
The below DELETE function is working great. However for some reason or another the INSERT INTO sql command is not putting seperating the string and adding rows to the database? I am not sure where the error is occuring.
In the end I need the data to go into the database columns like so
Table: BidlistContractors (2 Columns: BidlistID, ContractorID)
BidlistID ContractorID
500 124
500 125
500 145
500 154
500 156
Stored Procedure Code:
CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.UpdateBidlistContractors
@FormBidlistID int,
@CheckBoxListContractors varchar(3999)
AS
DELETE FROM BidlistContractors
WHERE BidlistID = @FormBidlistID
DECLARE @ContractorID nvarchar(10)
DECLARE @BidlistID nvarchar(10)
DECLARE @startPosition int
DECLARE @commaPosition int
SET @startPosition =1
SET @commaPosition = 0
WHILE (@startPosition < LEN(@ContractorID))
BEGIN
SET @commaPosition = CHARINDEX(' , ' , @ContractorID, @startPosition)
SET @ContractorID= SUBSTRING(@ContractorID, @startPosition, @commaPosition - @startPosition)
INSERT INTO BidlistContractors (BidlistID, ContractorID)
VALUES (@BidlistID, @ContractorID)
SET @startPosition = @startPosition + LEN(@ContractorID) + 1
END
GO
Where am I going wrong? Thank you in advance for any help.

Hi guys,
Okay, I really should know the answer to this by now, but the answer escapes me.
--Let's say I have a simple table:
create table #mytable
(
id varchar(3)
)
go
--Instead of doing this:
insert into #mytable
values
('ABC')
go
insert into #mytable
values
('DEF')
go
select * from #mytable
go
drop table #mytable
go
/*
I'd like to do this (since I might have anywhere from 20 to 50 of these, etc.).
Like:
insert into #mytable
values
('ABC','DEF','GHI','JKL')
go
(Obviously this doesn't work since I need to repeat the column name however many times) - but isn't there a simpler way to insert multiple rows into an unpopulated table?
Unfortunately, I don't have the data in another table somewhere already, so I need to manually populate, but was wondering if there was a convenient way of doing this.
Any help much appreciated!

I am looking to create a constraint on a table that allows multiplenulls but all non-nulls must be unique.I found the following scripthttp://www.windowsitpro.com/Files/0.../Listing_01.txtthat works fine, but the following lineCREATE UNIQUE CLUSTERED INDEX idx1 ON v_multinulls(a)appears to use indexed views. I have run this on a version of SQLStandard edition and this line works fine. I was of the understandingthat you could only create indexed views on SQL Enterprise Edition?

Hi,
I've been working as web dev for quite sometime now but there are still few things that i would like to clarify. Hope you guys can shed lights.
I currently have several tables and all this tables are having some 1 to many relationships. I know that how i insert value into my tables are very inefficient. I do it in this manner..
-> Insert a value in TableA
-> Query the latest ID that i have inserted in Table A then
-> Insert this value in TableB. And so on and so forth.
I believe there is an efficient way to to do this but i'm not sure how? Could anyone shed me a light on this matter?
Your reply would be highly appreciated. TIA.
What's the best way to go about inserting data from several tables that all contain the same type of data I want to store (employeeID, employerID, date.. etc) into a temp table based on a select query that filters each table's data?
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
I have a table that I filled with data imported from another database.
What I need to do is now take this huge table and break apart the information and put it into 5 smaller tables.
So I have a huge insert statement.
I have one main table called Property with two keys. One key is a "Prop_ID" and the other is "owner" where Prop_Id is a automated unique ID. Once the information is inserted into that table, I then get the Unique ID that it was given, and I then used that ID to insert into the other tables.
The problem I am encountering is I keep getting the following error
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_Prop_Res_Detail'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'Prop_Res_Detail'.
The statement has been terminated.
I have an idea what might be going wrong, but I am not sure. What I want to happen is that I want the query to look at the first row of the huge table and then do all 4 of the inserts, and then go to the next row. But I think it is trying to all the inserts into the property table, and then go on to the Prop_Res_Detail table and that is why I am getting that error.
Any help is greatly appreicated.

I want to insert these values into table VIEWS as a list separated by spaces.
E.G.
Table Jobcodes looks like this

1

And I want table Views to look like this:

How do I go about this?
I am have a situation to insert data from multiple sources to a single table.
i.e., multiple and concurrent insert on same table
Will it lead to dead lock at any point? is there any possibility?
How insert will work ? What is the architecture ? Any references to read?

I am getting a syntax error when I parse this sql script:

I have a form to assign JOB SITES to previously created PROJECT. The JOB SITES appear in the DataList as it varies based on customer. It can be 3 to 50 JOB SITES per PROJECT.
I have "PROJECT" table with all necessary fields for project information and "JOBSITES" table for job sites. I also created a new table called "PROJECTSITES" which has only 2 columns: "ProjectId" and "SiteId".
What I am trying to do is to insert multiple rows into that "PROJECTSITES" table based on which checkbox was checked. The checkbox is located next to each site and I want to be able to select only the ones I need. Btw the Datalist is located inside of a formview and has it's own datasource which already distincts which JOBSITES to display.
Sample:
ProjectId - SiteId
1 - 5
1 - 9
1 - 16
1 - 18
1 - 20
1 - 27
1 - 31
ProjectId stays the same, only values for SiteId are being different.
I hope I explaining it right. Do I have to use some sort of loop to go through the automatically populated DataList records and how do I make a multiple inserts to database table? We use SQL Server 2005 and VB for code behind. Please ask if I missed on some information. Thank you in advance.
I am trying to add multiple records to my table (insert/select).
INSERT INTO Users
( User_id ,
Name
)
SELECT ( SELECT MAX(User_id) + 1
FROM Users
) ,
Name
But I get the error:
Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_Users'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.Users'.
But I am using the max User_id + 1, so it can't be duplicate
This would insert about 20 records.
Why the error?
My xml is in below format:
DECLARE @MyXML XML
SET @MyXML = '<RS>
<R id="6330">
<WF id="71445">
<WFS id="12790"> <fname>John12790</fname> </WFS>
[Code] ....
I need to insert into table with TSQL query:
My output should be similar below:
John12790 12790 71445 6330
Eric 12791 12790 71445 6330
John12793 12793 71446 6331
Eric12794 12794 71446 6331
otherwise i need to write huge c# code to execute such thing..
Hello Guys,
I am working in one company and currently I am assigned to new project for Data Migration from company X to our company Y using SSIS. I am totally new and i just completed 5 tutorial which was gien on MSDN website.
Basically client is going to send us first flat file with 1 million records with Header, Detail and Trailer records.
I want to create a Package in such a way that it dumps all this first load into 7 to 8 different tables at a time.
we also have to include functionlity for validation and error check.
On successfull load error file should only return Header and Trailer but no detail records.
If there are any errors then error file should contain Header, Detail records which were unable to load plus trailer which we have to sent back to client.
When 2nd file comes that time we have to check whether this is new records or change (update) one depending on Flag which tells it.
This is basically high level idea of my Package what i need to create. If u guys have any question then let me know.
I know you guys are very experienced one. Anyone of you please give me some detail idea on it I would really appricate it.
I have very limited time line for it.
Thanks

I have created a trigger that is set off every time a new item has been added to TableA.The trigger then inserts 4 rows into TableB that contains two columns (item, task type).
Each row will have the same item, but with a different task type.ie.
TableA.item, 'Planning'
TableA.item, 'Design'
TableA.item, 'Program'
TableA.item, 'Production'
How can I do this with tSQL using a single select statement?
Hello
I am building a survey application.
I have 8 questions.
Textbox - Call reference
Dropdownmenu - choose Support method
Radio button lists - Customer satisfaction questions 1-5
Multiline textbox - other comments.
I want to insert textbox, dropdown menu into a db table, then insert each question score into a score column with each question having an ID.
I envisage to do this I will need an insert query for the textbox and dropdownlist and then an insert for each question based on ID and score.
Please help me!
Thanks

How can I include tables and views from database A when building a view in database B, if possible?
Same for stored procedures.
I want to combine 2 tables into a view. The first table is a list of 'Products' (P1, P2.....)
Table: Product
IDUserStart Date..
=====================================
P1Fred12/04/2012
P2Jane01/12/2011
P3Mike01/12/2011
P4Stu01/12/2009
P5 Etc
Table two is qualities for each product. A product can have from zero to 8 qualities. Qualities have a description and a value (varchar).
Table: Qualities
ProductDescrip.Value
=====================================
P1ColourRed
P2ColourGreen
P2Hard2.2
P2Weight123
P3ColourBlack
P4ColourWhite
P4Weight8.12
P6Mass12.2
P2abcdef Etc
I would like to create a view that joins these tables. Each row show a product and all the qualities it has, from quality 1 to quality 8. If there is no N'th quality, to show blank/null/zero.
The problem is how to get values from multiple rows (in table Qualities) in a single row in the view.
Wanted View
ProductUserQuality1Value1Quality Value2Quality3Value3Quality4Value4 etc..
=====================================
P1FredColourRed0000000
P2JaneColourGreenHard2.2Weight123abcdef
P3MikeColourBlack000000
P4StuColourWhiteWeight8.120000
etc
