Impersonation Error With File Share Subscriptions In RS 2005
Apr 9, 2008
When publishing to a file share using Reporting Services (no service pack 2 yet) the following error occurs:
Failure writing file NewFile.mhtml : An impersonation error occurred using the security context of the current user.
I have tried publishing to both Windows XP and Server 2000.
The Reporting Services box is Server 2003.
Publishing account is Local Administrator on both Reporting Services and target boxes.
Logon Locally has been granted on both Reporting Services and target boxes.

I get the above error which I noticed is a solution in the forums for SQL Server 2000 but I am running SQL 2005 SP2. I can send an email subscription with a Link only but I can not send an email subscription along with a report. Sounds like the same problem??
My system is running in a DMZ and I am attempting to email outside that DMZ, I'm running on a MS Server 2003 Service pack 1
I have the following issue with Maintenance plan backups that work for BAK DIF and TRN to a remote server share. When I try and remove the old files with a clean up task I get an error and the files don't get deleted.
The version is as follows Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3054.00 (X64) Mar 23 2007 18:41:50 Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 2)
The error result is as follows,
Failed-1073548784) Executing the query "EXECUTE master.dbo.xp_delete_file 0,N'\\EXECUTE master.dbo.xp_delete_file 0,N'\ABCD-A1\BACKUPS\ABCD_BACKUP\ABC_DAILY\ABCD',N'trn',N'2008-01-13T12:52:49'" failed with the following error: "xp_delete_file() returned error 2, 'The system cannot find the file specified.'". Possible failure reasons: Problems with the query, "ResultSet" property not set correctly, parameters not set correctly, or connection not established correctly.
The maintenance plan seems to be adding extra "" though when i enter the code directly in a query i get same error.
xp_delete_file() returned error 2, 'The system cannot find the file specified.'
The servers belong to the same domain and are using the same Service account which has all the necessary rights to the share and the file directory location. The backups work but i get the error on the cleanup task.
Trying to figure out how to get the Cleanup task to delete old files. The same happens for all file extensions and I have tried other locations with simpler file paths same error.
I'm exporting reports daily to a file share and I need to rename the reports with a pseudo time stamp.
Example: I have a report named "Disk Usage" and when I export (using a data-driven subscription) I want to rename it "Disk Usage - (Jan07)" - or something to that effect.
Greetings, I have just arrived back into the country (NZ) and back into ASP.NET. I am having trouble with the following:An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file (file location).../Database.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share. It has only begun since i decided i wanted to use IIS, I realise VWD comes with its own localhost, but since it is only temporary, i wanted a permanent shortcut on my desktop to link to my intranet page. Anyone have any ideas why i am getting the above error? have searched many places on the internet and not getting any closer. Cheers ~ J
Can someone please tell me what is meant by a file share?I'm doing a little reading on MS Sql Server and they talk about howyou can connect to the sql server through a named pipe.I'm guessing that a file share means a specific service running on aserver. Is this correct? The book says the following:When you connect to a file share you use a Universal Naming Conventionpath to a file server: \FILESERVERSharename.To connect to a named pipe, you connect to a share of the form:\COMPUTERpipesqlqueryThanks Hope you can clear this up for me.
I'm trying to deliver a report via the included File Share Delivery method. Every time the subscription fires, the delivery fails with this error in the interface:

An in ReportServerService<dateTime>.log, I find the following error:

I have tried using the <domain><user> username syntax. I have tried sending to multiple different machines. The only deployment that succeeded was to \localhostc$ est with administrator credentials entered into the Subscription (unacceptable, of course).
I've seen this issue raised on this forum at least twice, and neither was met with any ideas or answers. Has anyone encountered and overcome this issue?
SQL Agent will not successfully execute my package as a job. Bids executes the package correctly as well as when I run the package manually (right click, run package) through SQL Server Management Studio. This is a permissions issue with the flat file any help will be much appreciated. Background Information:OS: SQL 2005 on Windows Server 2003Flat File Connection: \servernamefolderfile.txt (If I change the flat file location to a local file the package will run as a job successfully)Domain: The package is running on a Windows machine that is not on any domain. (note: I replaced the fileconnection strings with FILECONNECTION and the serverpath with "servernamefolder" for privacy reasons. Any help would be greatly appreciated. This is some sort of security issue with SQL Agent. But, the error claims that the user is running as localmachineAdministrator. Isn't this how the package would run if I manually execute it?
In the "Choosing Between SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition and SQL Server 2005 Express Edition" white paper, i can read that: "SQL Server 2005 Compact Edition support data file storage on a network share" and "Number of concurrent connections = 256"
But when i try to connect with two different PC at the same time to a .sdf file store on a network share, i have an error message : "File is locked by an other processus"
The firsth PC is connected but the secondth can't
";Mode=Read Write" in the connection string don't change anything.
When I am saving a SSRS report in excel format in a shared network drive, how can I add the date extension to the filename ?I assume this is something that needs to be handled within the SSRS reporting side rather than the subscription side.
I have been playing with a Standard Version of VS 2005 and SSE 2005 and I just cannot get these two to interact together well. I am sure it is a noob problem but I have seen this error addressed on this forum and I am just not getting it. Here is exactly what I am doing.
I want to create a database within SSE using the Management Studio. Then, I want to connect to it with VS2005. Both SSE and VS2005 are local. I just cant seem to get this to work.
I always seem to get this error "An attempt to attach an auto-named database for file C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLDataSecond.mdf failed. A database with the same name exists, or specified file cannot be opened, or it is located on UNC share."
One thing... I create the website with Location: HTTP. I don't even know anymore why I do this.. I think because I like to be able to pull up a browser and get to my app. Other than that I am doing nothing special. However, I get the above error when I hit F5 to run the app inside VS2005.
Is there someplace where a complete noob can find a thorough and simple covering of this? Again, I have read through some of the previous posts on this and I don't understand too many of them and it seems as if there are at least 13 causes of which I don't know which one I have. Help!
I am developing a package to restore a database from backup file on a remote server. I am having problems accessing the remote backup file when it is addressed via the admin share, in this case N$. It runs okay if a specific share is created but for some unknown reason fails via the adminshare.
I am executing the package job with a proxy account that is a member of the local administrators group on the remote server.
It appears that access via a remote admin share isn't possible from within a SSIS package. Is this the case?
Is it alright to move the .bak and .trn backups which are automatically created in a File Share Witness when a DB is added to an Availability Group? I did that and there were error IDs 1069 occurring, and the AG was unable to be brought up whenever I run a load intensive batch job ...
I am running Microsoft SQL Server 2012 SP on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard SP1 box. The SQL Server service is running as a simple windows domain user (nothing special, no admin rights, etc.) I am having some issues with using Bulk Insert when the data file is on a network share when using Windows Authentication. What is known is that the SQL Server service account has access to the network resource, which is shown by logging into SQL Server with a SQL account and doing the Bulk Insert. I also have rights to the files on the share, as shown by the fact that I put the files there. My SQL is in the form of:
Bulk Insert [table name] From '[server][share][filename]' With (FirstRow = 2, FormatFile='FormatFile.xml')
Now, when connecting to SQL Server with Windows Authentication and running the Bulk Insert I get the following error:
Msg 4861, Level 16, State 1, Line 2 Cannot bulk load because the file "[server][share][filename]" could not be opened. Operating system error code 5(Access is denied.).
I found this snip at
BULK INSERT (Transact-SQL)Security Account Delegation (Impersonation), which says, in part (emphasis mine):
To resolve this error [4861], use SQL Server Authentication and specify a SQL Server login that uses the security profile of the SQL Server process account, or configure Windows to enable security account delegation. For information about how to enable a user account to be trusted for delegation.
How to Configure the Server to be Trusted for Delegation, and we tried the unconstrained delegation and I rebooted the SQL server, but it still does not work. Later we tried constrained delegation and it still does not work.
I have verified the SPNs:
C:>setspn adsvc_sqlRegistered ServicePrincipalNames for CN=SVC_SQL,OU=Service Accounts,OU=Users,OU=ad domain,DC=ad,DC=local:    MSSQLSvc/SQLQA.ad.local:1433    MSSQLSvc/SQLDev.ad.local:1433    MSSQLSvc/SQLQA.ad.local    MSSQLSvc/SQLDev.ad.local I have verified that my SQL connection is TCP and I am getting/using a Kerberos security token. If I move the source file to a local drive (on the SQL server), all works fine, but I must be able to read from a file share?
I doubt this is possible, but can someone think of a way to change the email address used for sending report subscriptions based on the report or subscription?
It's a need that I've heard from a number of different clients. Scenario: a company has one reporting services server with reports running from numerous departments. Report subscriptions are sent to internal and external email addresses and there's a business need to use different "from" addresses based on the report (or audience).
Came across this scenario in AlwaysOn Availability Group (two node), file share witness times out and RHS terminate and cause the cluster node to reboot. File share witness is for continuous failover and if the resource is unavailable my expectation was that it should go offline and should not impact Server or Sql Server. But its rebooting the cluster node to rectify the issue.
Configuration Windows Server 2012 R2 (VMs) Sql Server 2012 SP2 Errors
A component on the server did not respond in a timely fashion. This caused the cluster resource 'File Share Witness' (resource type 'File Share Witness', DLL 'clusres2.dll') to exceed its time-out threshold. As part of cluster health detection, recovery actions will be taken. The cluster will try to automatically recover by terminating and restarting the Resource Hosting Subsystem (RHS) process that is running this resource. Verify that the underlying infrastructure (such as storage, networking, or services) that are associated with the resource are functioning correctly.
The cluster Resource Hosting Subsystem (RHS) process was terminated and will be restarted. This is typically associated with cluster health detection and recovery of a resource. Refer to the System event log to determine which resource and resource DLL is causing the issue.
how can Share may sqlexpress 2005 on network that other can access my databasess on their pc and edit update and insert recored into my table please tell me how can do this ?
Get a filestream download link with only access to read and with folder navigation
I need a link with the path to get the file stream blob, that path could be used to download a document using any windows app like windows explorer, etc. the requirement is that path does not allow customer to navigate in filesstream share folders or see other files and only can read the file of the path,
Checking :
[file_stream].GetFileNamespacePath(2)
Allow you navigate in folders.
NON_TRANSACTED_ACCESS read_only, resolve the requirement to disable the save in file table, but allow you navigate and see other files.
Does SQL Server 2005 come in any MSDN subscription packs? The content list isn't generally comprehensive and all the subscriptions seem to come with SQL Server 2000.

Having a problem with email subscriptions in SSRS 2005 running on Win2003 server. The email subscription is attempting to email an excell attachment of the report. The report uses a shared data source with stored credentials. Configured email in Reporting Services config manager to use SMTP server OurServer.OurDomain.com Even wrote a test vb.net program to send email using that SMTP server and was successful - yet Reporting Services subscription fails with following error:
Failure sending mail: The report server has encountered a configuration error. See the report server log files for more information.
Combed the Reporting Services error logs but found nothing pertaing to email - SMTP - Subscriptions or anything close - I'm stuck but we really need this as I am emailing 3 reports daily by the manual process of running the reports - exporting to excell - and emailing - UHG!!
I am trying to export ssrs report from sharepoint to pdf file. But i am getting error in it."Sorry, Something Went Wrong".But when i try to render report in visual studio when i preview report. It gets exported in 14 minutes. but there is no error.
I installed SQL Server 2005 Express Edition on my Laptop for use with IIS 7.0; Everything was working fine untill I opened the Report Server Site with WVD 2008, it asked me to Modify the web.config for debugging. After doing that the Report Server Site started showing an error page saying there was a rsInternal error. I tried fixing the Web.config by hand but it dident work, so I tried completly reinstalling the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition. It reinstalled perfectly excluding the Report Server. When it came time to install the Report Server; I got the error message.
The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Setting reporting service and share point exclusion path. The error is: Fatal error during installation.

Does anybody have experience with e-mail distribution using Data Driven Subscriptions? I want to build the following:
I have a table with names and e-mail addresses of people in my data warehouse. This table changes over time, more people will be added and data (for example e-mail addresses) can change. I made 1 report that I want to mail to all the people in the table. This report contains 1 parameter; the e-mail address of a person. So basically it€™s quite simple: I want to e-mail all the people in the table a personalized (by the parameter) report each month.
Can anybody tell me how I can achieve this with SSRS 2005(SSEE)? I know how to make a data driven subscription but how can I make one pending on the data in a table?
Any help would be appreciated. I will write a blog about this when I've done it so your input will not get lost.
I have just installed MS SQL Server 2005 Express edition along with the SSMSE. I am using windows authentication. When I open SSMSE it connects me to a 'local instance' of the server. From there I right click on Database and select to add a new Database and I get the error above. I think I only need to allow local connections to the engine but I have tried allowing remote conections with all varations of named pipes and TCP/IP. I am running on Windows XP SP2 (home).
