Import XML Tables Into SQLExpress
Feb 21, 2008I am an SQL newbie and despite 3 hours on the Internet this morning I am still confused!
I have some XML tables that I want to import into my SQLExpress database.
I have followed the example at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/316005 How to import XML into SQL Server with the XML Bulk Load component.
I understand the example but when I run the vb code:
Set objBL = CreateObject("SQLXMLBulkLoad.SQLXMLBulkLoad")
objBL.ConnectionString = "provider=SQLOLEDB.1;data source=MySQLServer;database=MyDatabase;uid=MyAccount;pwd=MyPassword"
objBL.ErrorLogFile = "c:error.log"
objBL.Execute "c:customermapping.xml", "c:customers.xml"
Set objBL = Nothing
I get an error message saying that ActiveX cannot create object 'SQLXMLBulkLoad.SQLXMLBulkLoad'.
I have SSMSE and the databse on my PC harddrive.
What am I missing here?

Mar 13, 2007I can't start SQLEXPRESS.
The SQL ERRORLOG shows: Error is 3414, Severity 21, State 2 and says: "An error occurred during recovery, preventing the database 'model' (database ID 3) from restarting." Just prior to this, I get a warning: "did not see LP_CKPT_END".
Any thoughts why this might be and how I can fix this?

How To Install Windows Application(C#) With SQLExpress In A System Which Is Having SQLExpress Already?

I have created an installation application which will install the application with SQL Express and .NET Framework 2.0.
If i install this application in a Fresh system(i.e which is not having SQL Express), it is installing the application with new database instance successfully.
But if i try to install the same in a system which is already having SQL Express, throwing "Object reference exception" because it is not able to create the new database instance.
Can anybody help me out .

Sqlexpress Installer Doesn't Believe Sqlexpress Has Been Uninstalled
Mar 21, 2006Because of numerous problems trying to get sqlexpress working, I uninstalled it with the intention of reinstalling (via Add or Remove Programs). However, now when I try to reinstall it, I get a message that the I am not making a changes so it won't let me install it.
I do have sql server 2005 developer's edition installed; is that the reason? and does that mean I cannot have both installed on the same machine?

Recently I recreated my db on the server of my hosting company (in sql server 2005 express).I basically recreated the tables and copied the data in it.I now receive the following error when I hit the DB:The 'System.Web.Security.SqlMembershipProvider' requires a

I would like to use SSIS tool to move the data from one database schema to another database schema.
For example:
Source table has
1. UserName (varchar 20) (no null)
2. Email (varchar 50) (can be null)
Destination table has
1. UserID (uniqueidentifier - GUID)
2. UserName (varchar 50) (no null)
3. EmailAddress (nvarchar 50) (can be null)
4. DateTime
Questions:
1. What controls do I use in my Data Flow to make data move between databases with different data types and include new value in UserID as a new GUID and DateTime as a date (GETDATE)?
OLE DB Source, OLE DB Destination, Data Converson and .....
How do I insert Guid and Date at the same time?
2. I have many tables to do data moving. Any sugestions? How do I architect my project? If I create many data flows for each table - it will look complicated.
Please give me some advices here.

Jul 29, 2015I am trying to import an xlsx spreadsheet into a sql 2008 r2 database using the SSMS Import Wizard. When pointed to the spreadsheet ("choose a data source")  the Import Wizard returns this error:
"The operation could not be completed" The Microsoft ACE.OLEDB.12.0 provider is not registered on the local machine (System.Data)
How can I address that issue? (e.g. Where is this provider and how do I install it?)

Error Trying To Import MS Access 2003 Database Via SQL Server Import And Export Wizard - Too Many Sessions Already Active
Nov 29, 2006I am trying to simplify a query given to me by one of my collegues written using the query designer of Access. Looking at the query there seem to be some syntax differences, so to see if this was the case I thought I would import the database to my SQL Server Developer edition.
I tried to start the wizard from within SQL Server Management Studio Express as shown in one of the articles on MSDN which did not work, but the manual method also suggested did work.
Trouble is that it gets most of the way through the import until it spews forth the following error messages:

Error 0xc0202009: {332B4EB1-AF51-4FFF-A3C9-3AEE594FCB11}: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80004005.
An OLE DB record is available. Source: "Microsoft JET Database Engine" Hresult: 0x80004005 Description: "Could not start session. Too many sessions already active.".

IMPORT New Data Since Last IMPORT - DTS/Stored Procs?

I am not sure how to implement the following, but I believe it entails using DTS, and hopefully it is fine that I post it here b/c ultimately I will need this backend data for my frontend .aspx pages:
On a weekly basis, I need to IMPORT some data located on a remote Oracle DB into SQL Server 2k. Since there is so much data to transfer, I would only like to transfer the data that is new to the table since the last IMPORT, i.e. a week ago and leave behin the OLD data.
Is DTS the correct way to go or do I have more control via DTS with STORED PROCEDURES? Does anyone have any good references for me?
On a similar note, once this Oracle data is IMPORTED into a certain table, I would like to EXPORT some of these NEWLY acquired rows matching certain criteria into another table for auditing purposes. For this scenario, should I implement a TRIGGER UPDATE event here on the first table?
Any advice will be greatly appreciated!

... doing the same import when logged on the server, hasn't been giving me any errors, how come. I can from my client without trouble import tables from other DB servers but when ever it is files it won't do it.
I tried as mentioned in other threads rerun setup to re-install SSIS, but as it was already installed it wouldn't re-install. My next move would be to make a clean install, but not sure it would help, as I think this is a buck.

DTS Import Does Not Import All Rows / Records
Jul 23, 2005Hi,I am having trouble importing data from an excel spreadsheet into MSSQL Server 2000 using DTS Wizard. The DTS import process issuccessfull, no errors, but only 50 rows of approx. 1500 rows of dataare imported. I tried to remove 20 rows in the excel spreadsheet inthe interval row 0-50. When i later ran the import, only 30 rows wereimported. I deleted almost every row in the interval 0-50, with theresult of the import having 0 rows imported (but job ransuccessfully). I decided to delete rows 0-100 in the spreadsheet inorder to see if the resolved the problem, but it didn't. As Isuspected something in the excel file to be the cause, I exported theexcel spreadsheeet to a tab delimited textfile, with only one row. ADTS import resulted in importing approx 100 rows, double the amount ofthe textfile, but the other 1400 rows were not imported. The data inthe column is containing numeric values only.Please help me! What could possibly be the cause of DTS skipping rowslike that. DTS doesn't feel reliable at all :/Regards,Björn

I'm pretty new to all of this. I downloded a starter kit and am a bit confised as to SQLExpress. I have SQL Server already installed and just wondering what the option are.
I am currently using Visual Web Developer Express Edition and in the config file data source is SQLExpress and can't go any further. I don't want to mess with my current setup so just want to get some sugestions first.

Everything works fine until I upload it to webspace :(
I get the following Error
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
I don't have SQL Server 2005 :(

I am new to this forum .
I am running through few problems for sqlserver account settings .
I) My registery key entry for MSSQLserver just has a client folder .
2) My sql server configuration manager just has
sqlserver 2005 services , native client configuration and 2005 network configuration.
I can't see any server name or databases under it.
3)I normally work on EMS lite so I can see my ./SQLEXPRESS as server and databases under it and i can create logins etc ..I assigned db_owner role to one of my recent created database.
but when I try to connect it says :
The user is not associated with sqlserver connection.
5) i have sqlserver express service running, vss and sql server browser running.
I googled and searched for the solution and it says the authentication mode should be turned to mix mode form win authentication.
But from where. Have i missed some installation .I am able to connect to my other database from EMS.
Please help me out.

Jul 22, 2006To be as brief as possible:I had Visual Studio 2005 installed with SQLExpress 2005. worked reallll good :) I needed to convert an excell spreadsheet to SQL, so I migrated it to Access. Then the upsizing wizard would not/could not create an sql table with the data. Just would not take the data when the table was created. Argh.FINALLY figured out that the SQLexpress 2005 doesn't come with import/export.So I uninstalled the sqlexpress and installed SQL 2000 - Developer. Veeola, able to convert and created the table I needed.Now Visual Studio 2005 won't let me touch the sql file, says it requires sql server express 2005.My ISP does not support SQL 2005 yet. Is there anyway to get Visual Studio 2005 to work with SQL 2000 (only?)If I install SQLExpress over again, will it create problems when I go to publish my website, and more importantly right now, will anything bad happen when I reinstall sql express, or do I need to uninstall SQL 2000 first? How To Back Up SQLExpress?
Nov 28, 2005Ok it seems to me that if you use the ms recommended code to connect your apps using the app_data folder etc, that the dbs never show up in the SQLExpress manager.So I can't back them up like I can databases I connect to SQLExpress the 'old fashioned way'. Only 2 out of 6 dbs are visible in SQLExpress manager.What is the proper way to do this?Thanks,Jamey
