Odbc Problem For Sql7 And Power Builder

i have a problem here..
we are having sql 6.5 and 7.0 ...
One of my user is trying is using ACCESS AND POWERBUILDER applications to connect to sql server.
I gave a select permissions to the particular user on one database.
With access he is able to connect both versions(6.5 and 7.0) databases..
With powerbuilder he is only able to connect to 6.5 only, he is getting problem with 7.0.
when he tried to connect to 7.0 thru powerbuilder it is saying
unable to connect to database
LOGIN INCORRECT.
is it requires any new drivers with 7.0( i am using sp2)..
Pls help me in this regard..

Feb 9, 2007Could someone tell me how to use a query with a "connection string" to connect to an ODBC driver and retrieve data from its tables. I am new at this and have been having a lot of trouble connecting from the SSIS manager. If someone has a tutorial on how to do this. I would really appreciate it.

Issue Using The JDBC Driver To Connect To A Remote Server

We have a customer in Japan who's using our tool to connect to their SQL Server. Our application runs on a Linux machine and uses the MSSQL JDBC driver for connectivity.
We're getting errors back that are not-decipherable because, I presume, they're in Japanese, and then our logs don't log them in Unicode, so they get flattened out as question marks. The errors come out looking something like this:

I think we could troubleshoot the problem if we could only read the errors coming back. I know in the ODBC world there are options like "Change the language of SQL Server system messages" and "Perform transaltion for character data" in the ODBC control panel. I couldn't find any similar options available in the JDBC driver however. Do they exist?
Even if they don't, just scanning the messages makes it pretty clear that there's an authentication/permissions issue at work here. We have another app using the same credentials that works fine though - so if there are any known issues about using JDBC to authenticate in a multi-lingual environment, that would be helpful too. Our tcpdumps seem to suggest that the JDBC driver is using multi-byte strings when communicating with the server, however the "working" application is using single-byte encoding. Could that be why we're not authenticating? How is that controlled? Note that at this point I'm just talking about authentication, not the codepages/encodings of the data in the database - right now I'm just worried about logging in.

Reporting Services :: Connect 2 Stores Procedures In Report Builder
Aug 1, 2015I have created two stored procedures.....
1) atmWonOpportunities_Users
2) atmWonOpportunities_Data (startdate and enddate parameters)
In (1) I created a filtered list of all user names associated with a certain business unit and saved it to a temp table.
in (2) I create a filtered query listing all won opportunities during a period of time (date start and date end paramters)
In the report, I have 3 parameters, startdate, enddate and username (dropdown list).
When I run the report I select a startdate, enddate and username. I click the View Report button and get the same results for any one of the usernames I pick which is wrong.

Jul 20, 2015I've imported a number of excel sheets into a Power Query Table. All seems to appear ok until I load the data. Of the 15k rows around 2k have a similar error where it cannot convert an integer to type string as below example
Expression.Error: We cannot convert the value 40 to type Text.
Details:

The columns in question are all of integer type, I've looked through the M query and there is no conversion to string taking placeThe values where we don't get the error are also integers hence the intriguing question is why does the error occur on a subset and not the others. I suspect there is a limit to the number of errors also somewhere internally M query is converting the column to text for some reason.
Power Pivot :: IF In Power Query Statement - Converting Text To Numbers
Nov 18, 2015Slow loading issue with an if statement. In the raw data the field [Location] is a text field e.g. 0010. I have a parameterised query that get a Location_Value from Excel and passes it to the PQ query using:

This works fine if you chose a single location. However I wanted to be able to select all locations and text is horrible to work with so in PQ I used the change type function to change the location column into whole numbers. I changed excel to also pass a number as Location_Value. I was therefore surprised when the same query took 2.5 times longer to refresh????
My PQ now looks like this

Here I've created a new entry that would appear in the query applied steps window in the power query editor that I have called "Replace Values". The logic is if Data.Column4 column equals "London" then replace null values in Data.Column5 with London. However when I save the query below I get the error

getting msg below at the sql server . i looked at other posts on trying to uninstall SQL Native Access Client and norton antivirus. i could never find the snac on the add - remove programs and this server does not have a virus protection program yet.
here's the history of the installs on the server:
wanted to test a 2005 upgrade so:
1) installed sql server 2000 then sp4 then restored some databases to it - all OK
2) tried to upgrade to sql 2005 but ran into problems and left it at that.
had a disk drive crash on the d drive so lost the installs but not the operating system
when the drive was replaced, left alone for a while
then wanted to test a straight 2005 install
1) removed the broken 2005 attempt
2) removed the 2000
3) installed 2005 and got the error on the subject line:

Feb 4, 2008i am attempting to run phpbb using ms sql 2005 on the same box but get the following error during the setup
Could not connect to the database, see error message below.

i am not sure yet if this is an issue with sql, php or phpbb
php is installed in iis and has all the modules installed which the php msi installer supported. i can run php code but in this case when i'm running the install.php file for the phphbb setup, i fill in the values for the database and got that error
phpbb detects all the required server settings and sees that i have ms sql installed
any suggestions on what that error means or how to go about configuring odbc driver?

While they have been able to successfully view the Power Pivot models and interact with the Slicers in Power BI, they have not been able to print the reports. We thought it was a Mac issue but it's happening on PCs too. There doesn’t seem to be a way to resize the report so that all columns print. So we then tried to click on the tiny button located in the bottom right corner that says “View Full-Size Workbook.” The file then opens up in Excel Online. Then when we click on the printer icon, we see the report but the slicer becomes invisible. When printing, all columns do show up however the slicer is invisible.

Oct 17, 2014I designed the AlwaysOn wrong, but every time we fail over from primary server to another server, my applications cannot connect because the sql logins cannot connect to their default databases. Once I run the command to link the login with the user in the default database then the users are able to connect. Did I do something wrong when designing AlwaysOn?

Dec 12, 2006I'm having a problem connecting with a Java application but I CAN connect using my .Net application - the user name and password are the same for both (using the same database on SQL Server Express 2005).
The error I get is: "com.microsoft.sqlserver.jdbc.SQLServerException: Cannot open database "CORNERS" requested by the login. The login failed." An interesing note - I get the same message if the database is not running.
SQL Server Express 2005 is installed in mixed mode.
Here is my connection string in the .Net appplication: <add key="connectString" value="Server=(local);UID=sa;PWD=myPasswd;Database=CORNERS" />.
These are my values in my Java app web.xml -

And yes, the port is 1055 - I checked to find it.
I am using Microsoft SQL Server 2005 JDBC Driver 1.0 (sqljdbc_1.0.809.102).
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong so that the login fails in the Java application but works in the .Net application?

I'm trying to follow a specification here:
W1 = (W0^0.333 + G * D/1000)^3 (the ^ symbol means 'to the power')
In my stored procedure I have used the following test data with unexpected results. Can anyone tell me if I'm using POWER properly?
@Value = POWER(((POWER(150,(1/3)) + 2) * 10/1000),3 )
