hi, I change the PC name. so now @@servername returns the oldname. I try sp_dropserver and I got an error:
Msg 15015, Level 16, State 1, Procedure sp_dropserver, Line 42 The server '[IBM-E81EB247FF3]' does not exist. Use sp_helpserver to show available servers.
I have a problem with a database on our SQL 7 system . I had set away a restore from tape, but cancelled it after users complained that a different database was performing slowly . However, this has resulted in the database being marked as inaccessible when trying to access it through SQL Enterprise Manager and trying to access it through Query Analyser produces message 927 informing me that the database is in the middle of a restore . How do I remove this error and make the database accessible again??
Many thanks in advance

Been practicing DR strategies with a test SQL instance by following the scenarios listed here: [URL] ....
> Took a backup of the Model database > Stopped SQL Server > Deleted model database data & log file > Started SQL Server and it obviously wouldn't start because TempDB needs a model database present. > Started SQL instance with trace flags 3608 & 3609 > Connected to SQL instance using command prompt. > Issued restore command but was met with this error:
Shared Memory Provider: The pipe has been ended. Communication link failure
And found this in the SQL log..
2015-08-12 16:21:32.83 spid51 Starting up database 'tempdb'. 2015-08-12 16:21:36.88 spid51 Error: 3456, Severity: 21, State: 1. 2015-08-12 16:21:36.88 spid51 Could not redo log record (59:136:21), for transaction ID (0:0), on page (1:20), allocation unit 458752, database 'tempdb' (database ID 2). I have database on localhost and i want to show this data on my website. I want to create a database online and want to sync with Local Host. Can it be possible syncing data automatically after some interval?

I have seen this before. A 2000 restore fails, leaving the database thinking it is being restored but the restore job failed and errors when it is restarted. EM is clueless. I believe there is a proc to reset some flag. Can you share it with me???
HiAs i have read, there have been discussions before how to move a local MDF databas to MSsql server at a webhost. But i cant figure it out, i know the answere is out there but i cant find it.I have downloaded the Host Deployment tool that generates a .sql file from my database, it looks ok.The problem is that my host dont allow me to execute this. I have also tried to run a file called RunSql.aspx that should help me execute my .sql file. But i recieve errors Opening url http://mydomainz1.com/mydbfile.mdf.sqlAn error occured: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at ASP.runsql_aspx.__Render__control1(HtmlTextWriter __w, Control parameterContainer) in d:hsadminaccoundidmydomainz1.comRunSQL.aspx:line 58The line 58 is empty Is there anyway that a mdf file that i have build in VWD 2005 can work as a standalone database?I would like it to be as a .mdb database that is simple to move and so on. Or do the mdf database have to have a MSsql Express or a MSsql Server? Grateful for help! / mitmit
I created a sqlexpress database in visual studio 2005 and can't figure out to move the database to my hosting company( godaddy ). I can't connect remotely to the database on my hosting company. Whats the best way to go about this?
Hi. I have a client with a database hosted on SQL Server 2005. I don't have a paid version of SQL Server at home so am just using SQL Server Express. I'm getting INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED that I can't use the "copy database" wizard from SQL Server Express.
Am I just out of luck on this? I can't use the "copy database" feature since I'm using Express. I can't get the actual files since the database is on a shared server. I know I'm not the only person with this issue; I see people asking the question but I don't see any answers.
Hi, I have a hard time copying my db (or instance?) from a SQL Server 2000 db which resides at my web host. I have Sql Server 2005 Express and Sql Server Management Studio Express on my computer and, well, there is no "ftp-like" option so I don't have a clue about how to proceed. I've read many posts on the net on this matter but nothing seems to apply to this, in my mind, rather common, configuration. I have receieved Excel docs that should be appended to tables in my db. I have successfully installed DTS (see http://mobiledeveloper.wordpress.com/ for details - it's really simple but takes two hours) so I have a wizard for the actual import from Excel. My plan is now to 1. download/detach/whatever my table/db/part of the web host's db and download it to my computer. Then 2. fill the tables with the data from Excel. And finally, to 3. upload/attach/whatever my local db or table to the web host again. I'm sooo confused, please, please help me out here! Pettrer
I have a application which uses the automatic asp.net membership stuff to make it work. (In app_data). It works fine on local host, but when I use it on the web server I get the error message (after clicking the log in button):An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) Please help me fix this. Thank you for your help,Sam
hi my local host cannot open the connection to my database, whilst testing with vwd seems to be able to do this? other server side functions work (response.write("hello world")) in my iis the version of .net it says its running reads: 2.0.50727, though when i go to add / remove programmes i have 3.5 there? maybe its nothing to do with .net versions? thanks in advance for your help pete
Hi,On my laptop I am running Virtual Server 2005 with 2 x Windows 2003Servers. Both the VS can access the internet and shared files on thehost laptop. On the host laptop I have a SQL Server 2000 running.I have written a Windows Service to detect Application Errors and fireduplicates of events to the database, and this service sits on both VS.It does work as I have tested it on host. BUT everytime I makeapplication errors on the VS nothing is deposited into my database.Very frustrating!I have also tried to create a ODBC connection through the Data SourceAdministrator, and when I enter the login credentials for SQL I getconnection error messages.Any suggestions would be great!ThanksSun
HiI'm new this .I' using SQL 2005 VWD05.Could some body tell me how to upload to my host server database to to run a membership user account.I dont know what are the procedure to do on my pc in order to transfer the file on the database. Thanks
I have an ASP.NET application that runs under the development server. Before deploying to my host I wanted to test it under IIS. I set up a virtual directory under IIS, but when I try to open the home page I get an error Unable to open the physical file "E:CDiskLocalWebSitesDIWSchedulingApp_DataDIWDB.MDF". Operating system error 5: "5(Access is denied.)".and a code dump showing that the code is breaking at the open connection. A little research on the error indicates that IIS does not have permission to execute the database operation. I can not find any information on how to give IIS this permission in SQL Server 2005 Express. Any guidance would be appreciated.
Has anyone seen this error related to SSIS? I get this everytime I try to perform any action on (import, export, or run) a file system package. I am racking my brain and I would prefer not to perform a full reinstall, but I am not seeing any posts that have helped with this error.

Something strange just happened to my database.Windows Vista UltimateSQL Server 2005 SP2IIS 7.0I just did an insert into a few tables from my ASP.NET application that I'm building and I suddenly cannot query the database tables. The query window just spins and finally times out.So I decided to try a SELECT TOP and tried 100, nothing, then 10, nothing, then 1 and it returned the first row. Then I tried 2 and got that, and I remember this table had 8 rows prior to my last Insert, and once I tried to select TOP 9, it times out again.Does anyone knows why this happened and how to fix it? It's like every row past 8 either doesn't exist or got corrupted somehow. I can't even drop the table and rebuild it. SQL Server won't let me. If someone doesn't have a solution, I'll have to rebuild the entire database and I'd rather not have to do that.Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,Kahanu
Msg 945, Level 14, State 2, Line 1 Database 'Northwind' cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space. See the SQL Server errorlog for details.
I keep getting that error for just trying to USE Northwind. I don't understand why this problem is occurring. It was working fine for the past few weeks. Yesterday something happened to the DB and it said something about recovery to which I accidentally clicked cancel. From then on I can't access some of the DB that I have on my computer.
I'm fairly new to the SQL Server Environment so I would appreciate any and all help that can be provided. I've google searched the details but I can't seem to get any of those to work. Thanks in advance for your reply.
Does anyone knows what is the reason behind following error ? And resolution for that ?
Server: Msg 945, Level 14, State 2, Line 1Database 'Blaster' cannot be opened due to inaccessible files or insufficient memory or disk space. See the SQL Server errorlog for details.
I created a linked server with Oracle Provider for OLE DB to Oracle Database from SQL Server 2000 SP 4. Afterwards I created Views from this linked server and granted SQL Server users "select" access to the Views. Unfortunately when they try to access the views the following error message was generated (see the attached image - error.gif).
I have a trouble with script component. From time to time, I cannot see available data types of the column I´m just editing, in the Script component editor. The cell in the section Data Type properties, where normally combobox with data types is, is completelly black. This happens both with "old" script components I'm only viewing and new script component I'm creating.
This problem occured for the first time immediately after I migrated from Windows XP to Vista Bussiness 64bit and then several times without any obvious similarity among terms under which this appeared.
I have SP2 for SQL Server and SP1 for VisualStudio 2005 Professional edition installed.
I made a merge replication and sucessfully connected with mobile device. Everything works fine. Because I wanna try asynchronous synchronization (which won't stop my application executing when subscribing) I read How to example from MSDN : http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms172391.aspx But there is a problem with creating SyncStatus class object. I can't get into it and I can't create. maybe some reference will help? (I use reference to SQLServerCE). This error stoped my work for now, so I am waiting for some answers.
And if it's simple resolution for this problem - sorry. I just started programming applications for Mobile Devices.
How to maintain Database User Permissions when copying the Database from One SQL Server to another(Either through backups or sp_detach). The reason is the login sid is different in the target server and as a result the database user is not able to map to the login existing in the target server. The only way I can correct this is through dropping and recreating the user's again and assign the permissions, or change the system catalog - sysusers to remap the login to the user in the database. I do not wish to use the sp_addalias as it is available only for backward compatibility. Is there a better way of doing this ?
From the http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb384469.aspx (Walkthrough: Creating Stored Procedures for the Northwind Customers Table, I copied the following sql code:
--UpdateSPforNWcustomersTable.sql--
USE NORTHWIND
GO
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sysobjects WHERE name = 'SelectCustomers' AND user_name(uid) = 'dbo')
DROP PROCEDURE dbo.[SelectCustomers]
GO
CREATE PROCEDURE dbo.[SelectCustomers]
AS
SET NOCOUNT ON;
SELECT CustomerID, CompanyName, ContactName, ContactTitle, Address, City, Region, PostalCode, Country, Phone, Fax FROM dbo.Customers
GO
IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM sysobjects WHERE name = 'InsertCustomers' AND user_name(uid) = 'dbo')
SELECT CustomerID, CompanyName, ContactName, ContactTitle, Address, City, Region, PostalCode, Country, Phone, Fax FROM Customers WHERE (CustomerID = @CustomerID)
GO
==================================================================================== I executed the above code in my SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) and I got the following error messages:
Msg 911, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Could not locate entry in sysdatabases for database 'NORTHWIND'. No entry found with that name.
Make sure that the name is entered correctly.
=============================================================================================================== I know I recreated the NORTHWIND Database from a different Database before and I did not do anything for the entry in sysdatabases. How can I change the entry in sysdatabases for database 'NORTHWIND' now? Please help and advise.
Hi, i have database in sql server called search, but today, i found it is changed to search (Single user), I don't know who did it. How can I change to mutilple users, also how to change the name back to search. Thanks.
This is my first posting to this forum. I'm trying to I'm trying to change the name of my database from ASPNET.mdf to CulturedStar.mdf. I need to change the physical name and logical name.
I'm working with Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio Express.
It seems the change occurs inside the dynamic portion because if I SELECT a table within that database, it works. For example the following works but it does not change the default database to My_db.
SET @DynSQL = 'USE [' + @db_name + ']'+' SELECT * FROM Mytable'
How to get the ddl of every change in the database Includes changes in the table, column, constraints's That is a new table added, table drop table name changed, column type change column added, primary keys , foreign key, check constraints e.t.c
I am not looking for the changes in triggers. stored procedures, functions.
