Insert Timestamp Data Into Sage SQL Table.

Hi,
There's a nullable Timestamp data type column in all tables in Sage SQL database.
When using Insert SQL query add a new record, with a NULL for the Timestamp column, into a table it seems alright. When opening the table it shows the inserted data in the Timestamp column is Binary. But when reading the record by Sage program there's an error message as the following:
'Fractional truncation: table scheme.opheadm unique_no 24969592 1'.
Any idea what the problem is?

I have been provided with a table where one of the columns is of TimeStamp data type. My question is how to insert and update data in this column through my SQL Statement? When I run my SQL statement, it gives me an error with this column name in the error.

I have a transaction table having about 40 crore rows in source. It don't have timestamp and unique key columns. It have only Bill_month and Bill_Year columns. Actually for loading this table into staging I have added a new datetime column by adding default bill_date as 01. Then
* First we delete last 3 month data from staging tables.
* Get last 3 months data from source table.
* Load that 3 months data from source to staging table.
We do this because we only get update for last three months data. Now I have to include this transaction table as Fact table in DW. What will be the best practice for loading the fact table by picking data form staging table. Also we have to look up with dimensions for Foreign Keys.
* Should I implement the same method of deleting last 3 months records and loading them again.

There is a simple SQL table ("mytable"). Say, it has 100 rows and 5 columns. One of the columns (say "time") contains timestamps across the whole day and the data in this column has the following format: hh:mm:ssAM/PM. So, the table looks like this:

How to create simple SQL request for extracting data between any 2 timestamps? For example, I need sub-table of the initial table containing all data values between 12:00:05PM and 12:00:20PM:

I consider something like this:
SELECT * FROM mytable WHERE time BETWEEN ...?

I am writing a query to return some production data. Basically i need to insert either 1 or 2 rows into a Table variable based on a decision as to does the production part make 1 or 2 items ( The Raw data does not allow for this it comes from a look up in my database)
I can retrieve all the source data i need easily but when i come to insert it into the table variable i need to insert 1 record if its a single part or 2 records if its a twin part. I know could use a cursor but im sure there has to be an easier way !

Hello all. This is my first time on this forum.
I have a problem that i wonder if anyone can help me with.
I received data from a colleague in a CSV file format. This file contained a timestamp column. I had to change this into a .txt file and tried to export the data into a database. However, the timestamps didnt get inserted. Is there anyway i can do this as i need the timestamp values for my queries?

On my site users can register using ASP Membership Create user Wizard control.
I am also using the wizard control to design a simple question and answer form that logged in users have access to.
it has 2 questions including a text box for Q1 and dropdown list for Q2.
I have a table in my database called "Players" which has 3 Columns
UserId Primary Key of type Unique Identifyer
PlayerName Type String
PlayerGenre Type Sting
On completing the wizard and clicking the finish button, I want the data to be inserted into the SQl express Players table.
I am having problems getting this to work and keep getting exceptions.
Be very helpful if somebody could check the code and advise where the problem is??

but i want to insert the data into table having two columns. if iam trying to insert the data into table having two columns its not inserting.

ASP.NET application, MS SQL DB, and a table with a timestamp(8) column.
Error:
Cannot insert a non-null value into a timestamp column. Use INSERT with a column list or with a default of NULL for the timestamp column.
I'm using an SQLDataAdapter and typed DataSet, inserting a row into the dataset, and calling Update() to send changes to the DB.
The thing that baffles me about receiving this error, is that the DB column can be null and I get this error wheter I attempt to insert NULL or a valid byte array into the column.
(No - I am not trying to insert a datetime into the column.)
The error just doesn't seem too descriptive of the problem I'm having, and I'm quite confused.
All help greatly appreciated!

Hi,
How can i store the record insert/update timestamp in a SQL server 2000 db programacally. ? what are the date/time functions in ASP.NET 2.0 ? I know that this can be done by setting the default valut to getdate() function in SQL, but any other way on ASP page or code-behind page ???

Hi there,
We have purchased a new server and SQL 2005 in order to use Sage MMS.
We have since heard that due to a "Microsoft Issue" between .NET and SQL 2005, Sage are not recommending their MMS product to be used with SQL 2005.
Well basically, we'd already bought SQL 2005 and are now being told that we need to purchase and install SQL 2000 in order to use Sage MMS.
Does anyone have any ideas on how we can remedy this?

Hi all,
I have SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMS Express) and SQL Server 2005 Express (SS Express) installed in my Windows XP Pro PC that is on Microsoft Windows NT 4 LAN System. My Computer Administrator grants me the Administror Privilege to use my PC. I tried to use SQLQuery.sql (see the code below) to create a table "LabResults" and insert 20 data (values) into the table. I got Error Messages 102 and 156 when I did "Parse" or "Execute". This is my first time to apply the data type 'decimal' and the "VALUES" into the table. I do not know what is wrong with the 'decimal' and how to add the "VALUES": (1) Do I put the precision and scale of the decimal wrong? (2) Do I have to use "GO" after each "VALUES"? Please help and advise.

I am populating oracle source in Sql Server Destination. after few rows it fails it displays this error:

I have a .DTA file from Sage which is a Database file, im assuming anyway, how can i convert it into a format where i can view it in say access or excel, something like that, or anything really just so i can read it all properly... i can read it in word - buts of it but its all mangled and awful...

I'm a newbie to all this so if I ask soem stupid questions then I appologise.
I was given a project on getting the reports within sage to work, You may be asking why then post in the SQL forum.
Ah well that is because Sage is as helpfull as a chocolate teapot to write reports with!!
I have try and found the limitation way to fast for my liking. So in my desperation to have a happy boss, I have turned away from the internal reporting and tryed to work on the SQL reporting.
I have found the \severname
eports function and I am nowtrying to find my way around.
Do any of you know a good place to pick up any information on the getting started. I konw that its going to be an uphil fight with sage cross referancing more times than i have hot dinners! but Sages and Crystal reports are not working for me, in the respect I can not get the look and functionality that I want.
Well i think that that sould cover it?!
I fyou know of any resource or step by step howto's then that would be great.

I want to insert the data from temp table to other table. Only condition is, it needs to sorted based on tool number and tool date. For example if we have ten records for tool number 1000, it should be order by tool number and then based on tool_dt. Both tables doesn't have any primary keys. Please find below my code. I removed all the unnecessary columns for simple understanding. I'm working on archiving data from some tables. I've duplicated the data structure, with the exception of not including the IDENTITY specifier on INT columns, so that the archive table will keep the value that was generated in the original table. This is all going well, until I tried to copy the data over where the column is specified as a timestamp data type. I've looked this up and found a couple of things. First, documentation for SQL 2000 says,

And then documentation for the soon to be released SQL 2016 on the rowversion data type says,
The timestamp syntax is deprecated. This feature will be removed in a future version of Microsoft SQL Server. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature.

OK, I've read the descriptions, but I don't get it. Why have a timestamp/rowversion data type?

Is there any reason to have a row that is the PK/Identity and a rowthat is datatype Timestamp in the same table?Does this in any way help speeding up row updates?Thanks,lq

Hi,
I've heard that in Oracle, tables have an implicitly column that stores the last modified timestamps for each record.
Using this timestamp i can find out all the newly inserted/updated records in a table.
Do we have something similar in SQL server. Or is there a method to find out newly inserted/updated/deleted records ?

Hello,
I have a table called #table1 which is populated as in the example below.
I would like to write a selectinsert statement based on #table1 that populates #table2 like in the #table2 example.
Note #table2 is a fixed table that follows the structure below.
Can any of you T-SQL gurus help me with my problem?

we have a table below
TABLE1
ID Roll Name Amount . . . . . . so on

and we have TABLE 2
ID Roll Name Amount . . . . . . . so on
In both the Tables ID Field is Identity Field and rest all the columns are identical in both the tables.I want to perform a query in such a way that SQL Should,
1) Remove all data from TABLE2 First
2) Select those records from TABLE1 where Roll = 2
3) Then, Insert the results to TABLE 2
So we should get the result similar to below:
ID Roll Name Amount . . . . . . . so on
---------------------------------------
1 2 Alex 500
3 2 Ales 400
how can I do this in a same sql statement.
