Insert A Jpeg Into A Column Sql Server 2000 - Desperately Seeking Help

Jul 20, 2005

I'm a complete newbie. Need to insert a Company logo into a database
column to use later on in a check printing application. Read how to
insert the pointer instead of the object into the column. Below is
what I did:

SET QUOTED_IDENTIFIER OFF
GO
INSERT INTO BankInfo
(CoLogo) VALUES(0xFFFFFFFF)

***Then I did this****

DECLARE @Pointer_Value varbinary(16)
Select @Pointer_Value = TEXTPTR(CoLogo)
FROM BankInfo
WHERE CMCo = '91'
WRITETEXT BankInfo.CoLogo @Pointer_Value
"\192.31.82.77DataCheckImagesWyattLogo.jpg"

****This was straight out of a book and it seemed to work it gave me a
message that it was successful and when I view the data in the column
I can see the pointer
0x453A5C436865636B496D616765735C57796174744C6F676F 2E6A7067*****

But when I try to use the column in either Crytal Report or an Access
Report the Bank Logo does not show up. I also placed the logo on my C
drive and tried pointing to it there with "C:WyattLogo.jpg" with no
success.

It can't be this difficult to get a Company logo into a column. I
desperately need assistance. Remember I am the ultimate newbie. I
looked at my first sql database last week. Thanks in advance for any
help, it is appreciated.

Novice Seeking Advice With SQL 2000

Aug 10, 2007

Hello,
I am asking a question i have seen many threads on, but I am looking for an idiot's guide on how to convert my SQL 2005 database to SQL 2000 so i can get it to run on my web hosting server. I'm very new to asp.net , but have ahd years of experience in normal HTML and a year or two in the old ASP.
I was advised to learn ASP.Net 2.0 and have found it nothing but brilliant. The intergration with SQL 2005 made it a lot quicker to link up a database than using Access. Unfortunatly my hosting company is a little behind and still using SQL 2000. There isn't mch databse intergration (a few aplication forms) so I dont mind re-writing the whole database but I dont know how to set Visual web developer up with a SQL 2000 Database. I have also read from various other forums that you can convert a databse to 2000 by doing something with the scripts, but the explaination is too complicated for me to follow.
Is there anyone out there who wouldn't mind going over some old ground and explain this all in simple terms? Im using 'SQL Server Managment Studio Express' (although i dont know how to use it) and 'Microsoft visual web developer 2005 express edition' .
 Thanks for reading this

Adding A Jpeg Image To A SQL Server 2005 Table

Dec 9, 2007

I want to add a product photo in jpeg format to a products table. I'm storing the image of the product in separate jpeg files located in a folder on the same server that houses SQL Server. I don't want to store the photo directly in the table. I just want to reference the file location of the jpeg photo in a record.

Can someone provide me with code I need to add to the photo column for each record in the products table in order to reference the location of the jpeg photo associated with that record?

Subsequently, I want the photo to pop up in SQL Server Reporting Services product report.

Thank you.

I Desperately Need Help On This Problem Please

Apr 30, 2008

I have project table containing ID field and parentID field.
In this table I have three levels: program, project and taskorder. taskorder is a child of Project and project is child of program.
For example the table looks like below with ID, name and ParentID field :
ID Name parent ID
1 Program14 Null
2 Project1 1
3 Taskorder1 2
4 Taskorder2 2

I have another table survey table which is a child table of Project
table( project.ID= survey.projectID). This table contains the data for scores at the lowest level only ( that is task order in this case)The scoreID has only 3 values:1,2,3

the data in survey table lokks as folows:
projectID monthID questionID scoreID
3 1 1 1
3 1 2 1
3 1 3 2
3 1 4 3
3 1 5 2
4 1 1 1
4 1 2 1
4 1 3 2
4 1 4 3
4 1 5 2

In the above data for the projectID=3(taskordeer1) if I countthe number of 1's,2's and 3's in scoreID and group it for task order1 then I will have
the values as :scoreID count
1 2
2 2
3 1
and for task order2 then I will have
the values as :scoreID count
1 2
2 2
3 1

The question I have is :
In the above scenario how will I roll up the total of taskorder 3 and tasak order 4 into its parent project1 (using query only with out writing procedure and creating another table for totals):
in other words when I roll up for project1
I should get the data as follows for Project1:
the values as :scoreID count
1 4
2 4
3 2

Sql Configuration Problems (Desperately In Need Of Help)

Mar 13, 2006

Hi

I am currently working on my final year project for uni using vs 2005, sql server express and xp pro sp2.

Basically I created a website in asp.net and created a database in the app_data directory.

Everything was working fine up until last week until I downloaded sql server management studio. I was experimenting with the IDE and attached the database from the app_data directory of the website to the sqlserver management studio.

Ever since I havent been able to connect to the database and am very worried about it as I have spent a week tearing my hair out to no avail.

The error I am getting is:

Desperately Need Help With SQL Express 2005 Remote Connection Problem

Jun 2, 2008

I have Microsoft SQL express server 2005 setup on one server and I have a website setup on another server, I am trying to get some data from the SQL server on the other one.
I am currently getting this error: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server.  When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.) I have done plenty of searching on Google, and already been through the tutorial on changing the setting in ‘SQL Server 2005 Surface Area Configuration’ to allow remote connections
http://blogs.msdn.com/sqlexpress/archive/2005/05/05/415084.aspxhttp://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;914277
It works perfectly when I call data from my local machine.
Also I don’t know if it is a timeout issue, because I tested in on two other servers I have access to and it worked on one of them.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Conditional Insert In SQL Server 2000?

Oct 17, 2005

I need to do a conditional insert, and I am afraid that if I do it in 2 steps it will create bugs...I have a table called customers and a table called lockscustomers has 3 fields CustomerID, FirstName, and LastNamelocks has fields LockID, CustomerID, UserID, SessionID, and TimeStampI need to check if there are any records in Locks for a CustomerID and if there are none, I need to insert One.This is going to tell my application that this Customer record is locked so no one else can edit it, until the Lock record is deleted.I just don't want to make 2 trips, One to check if the Lock exists, then One to insert the Lock, since this could allow 2 locks to be created if the timing is correct.Any ideas or comments?

Slow Insert In SQL Server 2000

Dec 26, 2007

Hi everybody !!! I have a problem with database SQL server 2000, and I need anyone help me.

I have PC machine with hardware configuration following:

+ RAM : 512M

+ CPU : 2.4 GHz (intel Pentium 4)

+ System : Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprice Edition , Service Pack 1

(this is call Machine1 )

and other Server machine with hardware configuration the following :

+ RAM : 2G

+ CPU : 3.6 GHz( intel Xeon)

+System : Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Enterprice Edition , Service Pack 2

(use RAID 5)

(this is call Machine2 )

.And SQL Server 2000 is installed in these machine.

I created one table and one script to insert several records into this table. and script for inserting:

declare @count int , @max int

set @count =1

set @max = 5000

WHILE (@count < @max or @count = @max)

BEGIN

insert into TBAT_STOCKEOD(TRDT,SEQNO,COMPID,TRANSTYPE) values('20071219',cast(@count as varchar(5)),'13215','1')

set @count = @count +1

END

I execute this script on Machine1 and Machine2 :

+ Machine1 : spent 3 seconds.

+ Machine2 : spent 30 seconds. I don't understand why Machine2 is slower than Machine1 ( while configuration of Machine2 is better than Machine1's ). I don't know what happen.

I checked resource usages in perfmon when SQL server execute script and result following :

Machine1:

Proccessor used 100%

whereas,Machine2 used physical Disk 100%

Is there the way to configurate SQL server to improve speed writting of hard disk?

Seeking Advice: SQL Server On Win 2008 Virtual Server Or Just Win 2008?

Apr 23, 2008

Hello - does anyone have experience w/SQL Server 2005 in a virtual environment? I'm considering this for a production environment but not sure if performance will suffer. Our databases will have a lot of writing but not too much reading. A SSRS solution is currently the only app. connecting to the SQL db. Max users to server at any given time will be very low (~10 users max). But the databases are pulling in data from other, outside multiple data sources on a daily basis.

Any pointers to documentation or any advice?

Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_TargetTable'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'DW.TargetTable'. The duplicate key value is (58544748).First I checked with DBCC CHECKIDENT with NORESEED and found that there is difference in the current identity value and current column value. I fixed it by running DBCC CHECKIDENT. But to my surprise again got the same issue. interesting thing is that the error comes after inserting 65466 records.

Insert Small Time Into SQL Server 2000 Table

Nov 14, 2003

Im having a lot of trouble inserting a small time value into a table cell. I gave the cell column the data type 'DateTime', i found i couldnt manually insert a time only value such as '12:30 PM' into a column with 'SmallDateTime'. Something about a "SmallDateTime Overflow Error". However if i enter a similar time value into a table column with the data type 'DateTime' it will happily accept it and leave it as entered.

The real problem seems to be when i try to send a time value to that column with my ASP.NET application. Because it inserts the time value and todays date. So that if i send:

12:30 PM

It will be stored as:

15/11/2003 12:30:00 PM

I only want to store the short time, not the date especially not the date that row was created on because thats useless for the purposes of what my application is trying to achieve and just creates problems down the track when selecting rows.

How can i correct this?

without any success.
All ideas are welcome at this point since i am stucked.
