SET @Identity = SCOPE_IDENTITY()

'collect all the information from the form and then apply all and then update

'Get a reference to the Production table.

Dim dtProduction As DataTable = DS.Tables("Production")

Dim dtLineItem As DataTable = DS.Tables("LineItems")

' Create the SqlCommand to execute the stored procedure.

Production.InsertCommand = New SqlCommand("dbo.InsertProduction", connection)

Production.InsertCommand.CommandType = CommandType.StoredProcedure

' Add the parameter for the CategoryName. Specifying the

Transact SQL :: Retrieve Currently Created Date From Master Table To Load Into Parent And Child Table

May 12, 2015

In Master tabel i have these date datas

2015-05-10

2015-05-11

2015-05-12

SO when i try to load from Master table to parent and child table i am using using expresssion like

select B.ID,A.* FROM FLATFILE_INVENTORY AS A JOIN DMS_INVENTORY AS B ON
A.ACDealerID=B.DMSDEALERID AND A.StockNumber=B.STOCKNUMBER AND
A.InventoryDate=B.INVENTORYDATE AND A.VehicleVIN=B.VEHICLEVIN
WHERE convert(date,A.[FtpDate]) = convert(date,GETDATE()) and convert(date,B.Ftpdate) = convert(date,getdate()) ;

If i use this Expression i am getting the current system date data's only from Master table to parent and child tables.

My Problem is If i do this in my local sserver using the above Expression if i loaded today date and if need to load yesterday date i can change my system date to yesterday date and i can run this Expression.so that yeserday date data alone will get loaded from Master to parent and child tables.

If i run this expression to remote server i cannot change the system date in server.

while using this Expression for current date its loads perfectly but when i try to load yesterday data it takes current date date only not the yesterday date data.

What is the Expression on which ever date i am trying load in the master table same date need to loaded in Parent and child table without changing the system Date.

Data Access :: Retrieve Schema Information Of Columns Of Tables

Sep 10, 2015

Till recently we were using the following code to retreive schema information of columns of tables

Dim schemaTable = connection.GetOleDbSchemaTable( _
System.Data.OleDb.OleDbSchemaGuid.Columns, _
New Object() {Nothing, Nothing, tableName, Nothing})

Now instead of getting the name of table (which i was using as param for filtering) i'm going to receive a sql-query. Now my question is if I were to get a query like the following :

SELECT
[EmployeeID],
[Title] + ' ' + [LastName] + ' ' + [FirstName] AS FullName,
[BirthDate],
[Address],
[City] + ', ' + [Region] + ', ' + [Country] + ' - ' + [PostalCode] AS FullAddress
FROM [dbo].[Employees]

Then how can I retrieve the schema information of only the columns present in the query.

(Its possible that i might get a query with multiple tables with joints)...

Error: Unable To Retrieve Column Information From The Data Source

Jul 7, 2006

Hi,

I am trying to set up a data flow task. The source is "SQL Command" which is
a stored procedure. The proc has a few temp tables that it outputs the final
resultset from. When I hit preview in the ole db source editor, I see the
right output. When I select the "Columns" tab on the right, the "Available
External Column List" is empty. Why don't the column names appear? What is
the work around to get the column mappings to work b/w source and
destination in this scenario.

In DTS previously, you could "fool" the package by first compiling the
stored procedure with hardcoded column names and dummy values, creating and
saving the package and finally changing the procedure back to the actual
output. As long as the columns remained the same, all would work.
Thats not working for me in SSIS.

Thanks in advance.
Asim.

why my insert or into is not working in my SQL Server R2 2008. I have a code I am using on an existing table and trying to put the data in a brand new table but it keeps giving me an error

select API union all
select AIAN union all

Retrieve Truncated Data From BULK INSERT?

Jan 10, 2007

Hi everyone. Does anyone know if you can retrieve truncated data from a BULK INSERT operation?

We have a file that needs to be inserted into a SQL Server Database. There is a field that has a maximum of 8000 characters, but some times users submit files that have more than that. We need to be able to capture the truncated data. The BULK INSERT operation does not throw an error. The only way I can think of to get the data is if I bulk insert the data into a temporary table with a memo field and then copy it over, but that may really slow down the SP.

Has anyone encountered this situation before? I also have the option of parsing the file in .NET.

Thanks and take care,

Angel

Bulk Insert Fails To Import Data Files Created On Unix

Sep 21, 2006

It seems to me that files created on Unix machines with line terminator , or chr(10), cannot be imported using the Bulk Insert statement. Is this a bug, or an oversight by Microsoft? Does this mean that unless one replaces all with
, there is no way to use Bulk Insert to import Unix files? This is a very strange behavior by MSSQL. Even lessor programs such as Excel and Word automatically recognize chr(10) as a line termination character. Am I missing something, or is this just the way MSSQL is?

Retrieve Information From Before A Transaction

May 11, 2006

I have a report and it retrieves information from an etl logging table which contains this info: etl_process_name, active_since_date, last_run_date.

When the packages are executing, the table cant be queried because it is in a transaction. Therefore the report keeps generating :s
The thing I want is that: If I query that table (with the report to show the logging table information) and the packages are executing, I want to see the values of the table before the transaction.

What I tried:
From sql management studio:

ALTER DATABASE MyDataBase
SET ALLOW_SNAPSHOT_ISOLATION ON
set transaction isolation level snapshot
go
SELECT etl_process, last_run, active_since FROM config.etl_settings

I did this while the packages were executing and it works but it won't work when I execute the same SELECT statement from the Dataset in the report. How is that possible? Does it have something to do with setting the database options for all users?

Additional info:
I'm database owner
The report solution has a shared datasource which refers to the same database

For that I created the table with XML Native column (using typed xml)
*********************************create table command************
CREATE TABLE XmlCatalog (
ID INT PRIMARY KEY,
Document XML(CONTENT xyz))
***********************************
In order to Create the table with typed xml ,before that we have to create the xml schema which i
mentioned below
************************************create schema command********
CREATE XML SCHEMA COLLECTION xyz AS
'Place xml schema file ’
************************************
I created the xml schema file by using the xmlspy software.

--------------------------Insert command---------
INSERT into XmlCatalog VALUES
(1,'copy xml file ‘)
-------------------------------
I need to retrieve the xml data from the table
------------select query----------
SELECT Document.query (‘data (/X12//UserId)') AS USERID,
Document.query (‘data (/X12/X12_Q1/header/ISA//ISA_Authorization_Information_Qualifier)')
AS
ISA_Authorization_Information from XmlCatalog.
-----------------

I Need to update/insert/delete the xml data in the table

Can you please suggest the procedure to implement the above requirement(insert/update/delete)

Created SQL Server Database Using SYBASE DLL && Data, But Data Problem

Jan 21, 2008

Hello,

I took our SYBASE DDL and created the tables on an SQL Server Express datbase on a PC and then downloaded our data from UNIIX using the WinSCP utility and BULK Inserted the data into the SQL Server database and everything uploaded fine apparently, but when we go to use the data we are getting some data differences.

Do you know of any data conversion issues that may be coming into play here maybe?

Thanks very much!

How To Retrieve All Information Abt All Constraints Inorder To Drop And Recreate Them

May 25, 2004

Hello,
I need to retrieve all the information about all the foreign key constraints,inorder to store them temporarily (to be deleted later)and then recreated after making the necessary modifications to the concerned tables.
The stored proc sp_helpconstraint shows all the constraint types, their user-defined or system-supplied name, the columns on which they have been defined, and the expression that defines them.But I don't know whether it can be manipulated to get what I want.I need to get it done programmatically..so that I can integrate it in my program which I'm building up progressively.
Any help or scripts would be appreciated!

Serious Trouble Getting Database Table Information

Feb 7, 2001

I would like to know how to (if it is at all possible) in SQL (or even ADO) to retrieve all the data concerning database X's

a) Tables
b) Tables column names
c) Tables column's data types

I don't want to use the doa.tabledefs object.. .i would prefer to do it in SQL, but using ADO objects (since I am developing stuff in VB) would be ok too.

Please Help.. i have been going crazy trying to find anything useful.. email me back please!

Thanks,
Matt

Get New Database Created Then Running Script To Created Tables / Relationships

Jun 29, 2015

trying to get a new database created then running a script to created the tables, relationships, indexes and insert default data. All this I'm making happen during the installation of my Windows application. I'm installing SQL 2012 Express as a prerequisite of my application and then opening a connection to that installed SQL Server using Windows Authentication.

E.g.: Data Source=ComputerNameSQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=master;Integrated Security=SSPI; Then I run a query from my code to create the database eg: "CREATE DATABASE [MyDatabaseName]".

From this point I run a script using a Batch file containing "SQLCMD....... Myscriptname.sql". In my script I have my tables being created using "Use [MyDatabaseName] Go CREATE TABLE [dbo].[MyTableName] .....". So question is, should I have [dbo]. as part of my Create Table T-SQL commands? Can I remove "[dbo]."? Who would be the owner of the database? If I can remove the [dbo]., should I also remove dbo. from any query string from within my code?

Template Table Used In My Newly Created Database

Jun 18, 2008

I created a database called sports and then created a table which I'm going to use as a template for other tables within the same database.

What is the proper way to structure and implement copying this template table?

Should I store the template table under the system tables folder?

How do I copy the template table and create a new table from this template?

Thanks you

Copy Raw Data From A Flat File To A Database Table, BUT Do Not Insert Duplicates

Aug 2, 2007

Hi,

I'm new to SQL Server 2005 SSIS. I'm trying to do something very simple, but I cannot figure it out, PLEASE HELP!

I have a flat file, which I read and then insert the data in a database table, that works fine. The problem is that I don't want to insert duplicate records. For example; if I run the package again, it will appent to the table. What I need to do is that if the package runs again, check if the record already exist, based one two columns, date and hour, and do not insert the record.

Thank you,

Aldo

How Can I Retrieve Data From One Table To Another

Jan 12, 2006

Hi, everione,

I am having a big problem, trying to create datebase.
I have 3 tables: SUPERAVATAR, MASTERAVATAR, MEGAAVATAR.
- SuperAvatars are heroes in an online role playing gaming. They have an ID, ‘superavatarID’ which contain an UNIQUE NUMBER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY to identify them.
A wisdom – ‘trickster’,’conjuror’,’magician’, etc..
A current owner… who is the user or player of the game and has that Super Avatar– we associate the link to USERID to know the person.
SuperAvatars can be fathers or mothers of Mega Avatars.
-MegaAvatars are the children of SuperAvatars…. They also have an ID UNIQUE NUMBER NOT NULL PRIMARY KEY to indentify them.
A magic power – it can be a ‘Leader’ or ‘Sheep’…
A ‘parent’ – parent is the number identifying to know to who Super Avatar belongs.
e.g.
SUPERAVAT WISD CURRENTOWNER FATHEROF MOTHEROF
1 Thick 3 1
2 Mentally Ch. 11 3
3 Smart 9 2
4 Genius 16 4
5 Thick 19

MEGAAVATARID MAGICPOWER PARENT
1 MAGICIAN 1
2 WIZARD 3
3 SORCERER 2
4 MAGICIAN 4

-We see that MEGAAVATAR 1 has a magic power as Magician and his father is ‘1’. ‘1’ identifies the SUPERAVATAR.
We see SUPERAVATARID…. who has the number ‘1’? the first in the row… who has wisdom – thick and he belongs to the USER with ID number 3.
-We see MEGAAVATARID… we choose the number 2…. His magic power is as WIZARD… and his father is the number 3.
We see SUPERAVATARID now… we look up the SuperavatarID 3…. We can see he has a wisdom – GENIUS… who belongs to the USERID 16 and he is father of MEGAAVATAR number 2.
The list can carry on and never stop.

I have this Problems:
We create in this example 3 tables: Users, SuperAvatar, MegaAvatar

SQL
CREATE TABLE users(userID NUMBER CONSTRAINT pk_user PRIMARY KEY,email VARCHAR2(50) NOT NULL UNIQUE,password VARCHAR2(15) NOT NULL UNIQUE,subscription CHAR(8) NOT NULL CHECK (subscription IN('ACTIVE' , 'INACTIVE' ) ) );

CREATE TABLE superavatar(superavatarID NUMBER CONSTRAINT pk_superavatar PRIMARY KEY, wisdom VARCHAR2(19) NOT NULL CHECK (wisdom IN ('THICK', 'MENTALLY CHALLENGED', 'AWAKE', 'SMART', 'GENIUS')), currentOwner NUMBER NOT NULL, fatherOf NUMBER,motherOf NUMBER);

CREATE TABLE megaavatar (megaavatarID NUMBER CONSTRAINT pk_megaavatar PRIMARY KEY, magicPower VARCHAR2(12) NOT NULL CHECK (magicPower IN('TRICKSTER','CONJUROR','MAGICIAN','WIZARD','SORCERER')), parent NUMBER);

Now, the 3 tables are created…..
What happen when we try to insert values to this table?
In this case we insert to User Table some examples:
INSERT INTO users VALUES('3','john@hotmail.com','great78','ACTIVE');
INSERT INTO users VALUES('9','chrisandsandra@gmail.com','chrisandra)','ACTIVE');
Now, we insert to SuperAvatar some examples;
INSERT INTO superavatar VALUES('1','THICK','3','1','');
INSERT INTO superavatar VALUES('3','SMART','9','3','');
|
|
‘9’ is the UserID that we already insert to the User table
What’s the problem?
We have to insert manually the data from USERID to CURRENTOWNER as we didn’t match or link CURRENTOWNER from SUPERAVATAR Table to USERID from USER Table with a SQL CODE.
What happen if we have thousands of USERS that they register to this game…? We will never know to how belongs that SUPERAVATAR but if someone do it manually can spend a year.

I am trying to fix this problem …. I add in SUPERAVATAR TABLE ‘CHECK’ in currentOwner..

SQL> CREATE TABLE superavatar
(superavatarID NUMBER CONSTRAINT pk_superavatar PRIMARY KEY, wisdom VARCHAR2(19) NOT NULL CHECK (wisdom IN ('THICK', 'MENTALLY CHALLENGED', 'AWAKE', 'SMART', 'GENIUS')),
currentOwner NUMBER NOT NULL CHECK (currentOwner IN(SELECT userID FROM users)),
fatherOf NUMBER,
motherOf NUMBER);
*
ERROR:
ORA-02251: subquery not allowed here

It doesn’t work.

Please HELP, I have exam tomorrow

thank you
Desy
