I created a table with image datatype on one of the columns. Inserted records in all the columns, but image column. Need to update the image column with .gif file. How could i insert .gif file in the column in SQL Server 7.0? Thanks Hemant Trivedi
I am having difficulty in indexing a Table when it contains a PDF file in an Image column. Basically I have a table with a unique id, some other fields, and an Image column. The Image column contains uploaded files from a web application. Full-text indexing works fine for all types of files that I have uploaded into this table which includes (.doc, .xls, .ppt) but I get the following message in my Event Viewer if one of thee files is a PDF file.
One or more documents stored in the Image columns with extension '.pdf' did not get full-text indexed because loading the filter failed with error '1x01'.
I have searched Microsoft's site and implemented their prescribed fixes but none has worked including installation of SP3 of Sql Server and/or modifying the registry key to run the Sql server indexing procedure as a single threaded process.
Found a lot of tutorials about inserting images into a database. Every tutorial was given in ASP.NET 1.1 and not in 2.0. Does anyone have a tutorial about inserting images into a database with 2.0 and VB??Thanks
I am using the 3-tiered architecture design (presentation, business laws, and data acess layers). I am stuck on how to send the image the user selects in the upload file control to the BLL and then to the DAL because the DAL does all the inserts into the database. I would like to be able to check the file type in the BLL to make sure the file being uploaded is indeed a picture. Is there a way I can send the location of the file to the BLL, check the filetype, then upload the file and have the DAL insert the image into the database? I have seen examples where people use streams to upload the file directly from their presentation layer, but I would like to keep everything seperated in the three classes if possible. I also wasn't sure what variable type the image would be in the function in the BLL that receive the image from the PL. If there are any examples or tips anyone can give me that would be appreciated.
Hello all, I'm very new to web development and I have hit a snag in my project that I am hoping someone can help me with. I am trying to allow users to upload photos into my database using the formview control and the fileupload control. I have specified the data type as image, but when I try to upload a photo or just pass a null value I get the following error. Operand type clash: sql_variant is incompatible with image Does anyone know why this might be? Thanks very much. Matt Downey
Hi, how do I go about inserting image into the SQL Compact Edition Database? This is something similar to the Photo Column in the Employees Table in Northwind Database.
I have set the Photo Column properties as 'image', but all that appears is a white icon with a red x. How do I change this to my own image?
Hay Friend's Can u plese send me the way how to save image in sql server and display that images in datagrid or other control also like Image control or Image control Button?? Plese send the coding in C#. Thank's Amit
Ok, the problem is that , i have a field called "Attach" in sql of type image, when selecting it , the field is getting data of type BYTE(). which am being unable to display them on an Image on the panel.
using the following vb.net code:
'Dim sel2 As String
'Dim myCom As SqlCommand
'Dim conn As New SqlConnection
'Dim drr As SqlDataReader
'Dim image As System.Drawing.Image
'sel2 = "select * from attach where att_desc = '" & DropDownList1.SelectedItem().Text & "' and doc_code = " & w_doc_code & " and subcode = " & w_doc_subcode & " and doc_num= " & w_doc_num & " "
Hello, Could someone give me the code for inserting an image into the database. I have the field declared in my table. And the image needs a type value because it receives the message "nvarchar is incompatible with image"
I need to store a few thousand images in a sql server database. I've managed to write the asp code to retrieve images that are already in the pubs database, but haven't been able to find a satisfactory way of inserting new pictures in the first place.
At the moment we're using Notes and its great 'cos you just cut and paste them in. But now we need to take them all out and put them into sql server it's proving to be a nightmare. Any clues anyone??
I have a problem with bcp utility. Out-bound queries work but in-bound ones do not. Here's an example of in bound query which should insert image into table called 'Image'. There's a id column and image column in Image-table.
C:TempSQL>bcp GAMEDB.dbo.Image in mb.jpg -U xxx -P xxx -T And here's what bcp prompts me with:
SQLState = 08001, NativeError = 2Error = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Named Pipes Provider: Could not open a connection to SQL Server [2].SQLState = HYT00, NativeError = 0Error = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]Login timeout expiredSQLState = 08001, NativeError = 2Error = [Microsoft][SQL Native Client]An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure maybe caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allowremote connections.
I have learned lots of informative thing from your forums. I have little problem regarding “Display image from SQL Server on ASP.NET I have done it and image display on my page from SQL Server. I have cleared you here I have adopt two different methods which are following for displaying picture.
but in both above methods I have faced little problem when image display on my page all other information can not display and I also want to display picture on my specific location on the page. My second question is can use any web control like “Image1 to display image from SQL Server where my pictures are stored.
In my asp.net application I have a local report with an image control in thedetail row of the table and the Value attribute set as="File://" & Fields!FQPhotoFileName.ValueThe first row in the table always shows the wrong image and it's always thesame wrong image. The problem is there even when I change the sort order orthe criteria for the underlying dataset. For example, I ran a small testthat populated the dataset with 2 rows and 2 images. When I sort by anycolumn (e.g. ID) in ascending ascending order the ID=1 row (the 1st row)shows the wrong image and the ID=2 row shows the correct image. When I rerunthe report sorting in descending order the ID=2 row (which is now the 1strow) shows the wrong image and the ID=1 shows the correct image.Any suggestions?
Hi, I have a website and i am uploading the gif image to the database. i have used varchar(500) as the datatype and i am saving the file in the webserver so the path to it c:intepub....a.gif
my upload table has the folliwing feilds UploadId Int Identity, Description, FileName, DiskPath varchar(500), weblocation varchar(500). I have a main sproc for the report where i am doing a inner join with other table to get the path of the gif..
So my question is how can i get a picture to show up on the report. . What kinda datatype the gif file should be stored in the database? If it is stored as a varchar how can i access it and what is best way to reference that particular.
Hi All, I have a form (asp website with the default.aspx and default.aspx.cs) which I use to connect to the SQL Server 2005 database and insert, update,get and delete data to and from it. In the table I have a column called Picture to insert a photo (usually bmp files) which I declared as a varbinary(max). ID is the primary key and is an int (i tried it to be numeric & varchar). I am trying to insert data into the table using a form with this syntax: SqlConnection enter_conn = new SqlConnection("user id=;" + "password=;server=servername;" + "Trusted_Connection=yes;" + "database=Member Profiles; " + "connection timeout=30"); enter_conn.Open(); string insertSql = "Insert dbo.Details(ID,Last_Name,First_Name,Middle_Initial,Project, Organization,Manager,Current_Skills,Biography,Hobbies, Picture) Select 1001, 'ABC','XYZ','R',' Website Development','ACT',LKM','ASP.Net, C#.Net, SQL Server 2005, SharePoint, Java, ',' developing the new website for ACT using SharePoint and SQL Server 2005', ' Singing, Listening to Music, Dancing, Cooking, Swimming', BulkColumn from Openrowset( Bulk 'C:\photos\rose.bmp', Single_Blob) as Picture";
SqlCommand myCommand = new SqlCommand(insertSql, enter_conn); int i = myCommand.ExecuteNonQuery();
I have no data in the table and am doing the first insert. Though the data gets inserted I am getting this exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Violation of PRIMARY KEY constraint 'PK_Details'. Cannot insert duplicate key in object 'dbo.Details'. The statement has been terminated. at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlInternalConnection.OnError(SqlException exception, Boolean breakConnection) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.ThrowExceptionAndWarning(TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.TdsParser.Run(RunBehavior runBehavior, SqlCommand cmdHandler, SqlDataReader dataStream, BulkCopySimpleResultSet bulkCopyHandler, TdsParserStateObject stateObj) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.RunExecuteNonQueryTds(String methodName, Boolean async) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.InternalExecuteNonQuery(DbAsyncResult result, String methodName, Boolean sendToPipe) at System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand.ExecuteNonQuery() at _Default.Enter_Click(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:Documents and SettingskrkondaXMy DocumentsVisual Studio 2005WebSitesMember ProfilesDefault.aspx.cs:line 82
Can someone please suggest anything???? I appreciate a quick response please!!!!
we have tables with many image columns. We fill these image columns via ODBC and SQLPutData as described in MSDN etc (using SQL_LEN_DATA_AT_EXEC(...), calling SQLParamData and sending the data in chunks of 4096 bytes when receiving SQL_NEED_DATA).
The SQLPutData call fails under the following conditions with sqlstate 08S01
- The database resides on SQL Server 2000 - The driver is SQL Native Client - The table consists e.g. of one Identity column (key column) and nine image columns - The data to be inserted are nine blocks of data with the following byte size:
1: 6781262 2: 119454
3: 269 4: 7611
5: 120054
6: 269
7: 8172
8: 120054
9: 269 The content of the data does not matter, (it happens also if only zero bytes are written), nor does the data origin (file or memory).
All data blocks including no 7 are inserted. If the first chunk of data block 8 should be written with SQLPutData the function fails and the connection is broken. There are errors such as "broken pipe" or "I/O error" depending on the used network protocol.
If data no 7 consists of 8173 bytes instead of 8172 all works again. (Changing the 4096 chunk size length does not help)
Has anybody encountered this or a similar phenomenon?
Hello,In my MS SQL SERVER database i have an column with datatype image. Somerecords do have data in this column, some others don't. When i look at thistable in Enterprise Manager then i see in every field '<image>' so no way tosee directly wheter a filed has data or not. Is there a way to changedisplay of this column so i can see the binairy data in it?Marcel
I am thinking that the way to do this would be to convert every 4 bytes into an int and create a temporaty table with an integer column which I populate with int and then run a select * on this temporary table.
Does anybody have any pointers on how I can start to do this?
I have a string stored in a column of type image that I need to do string operations with in order to decode the containing infomation.
data [image] = 0x07FD0707FD0102F001000054004C005300410000000054004C00530041000000FF...
I can't cast or convert to nvarchar(max), varchar(max) as I always get an error. Explicit conversion from data type image to varchar(max) is not allowed.
I tried CONVERT(VARCHAR(MAX), CONVERT(VARBINARY(MAX), DATA))
Which doesn't throw an error but seems to interprete the hexadecimal code to ascii characters and therefore is useless (ýýð...)
I got a problem when replicating a table with an image field.
First I started replication and it seemed to work. Then after a day or so I noticed that the replication had stopped and it had a few errors like this:
NULL textptr (text, ntext, or image pointer) passed to UPDATE TEXT function. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 7133) Get help: http://help/7133
NULL textptr (text, ntext, or image pointer) passed to UPDATE TEXT function. (Source: MSSQLServer, Error number: 7133) Get help: http://help/7133
I tried adding a filter to prevent rows which are NULL from being replicated with the filter "[content] is not null ", but I got the error message:
Cannot save properties for article "xxxxxxxxx" Aditional Information
An Exception occured while executing a Transact-SQL statement or batch. (Microsoft.SQLServer.Rmo)
Replication filter procedures may not contain columns of large object, large value, XML or UDT type. Cannot generate a filter view or procedure. Verify that the value specified for the @filter_clause parameter of sp_addarticle can be added to the were clause of a select statement to produce a valid query. Changed Database context to 'xxxxxxxxxx'. (Microsoft SQL server, Error: 341).
Now Im left wondering how to get the replication to work?
what is the best way of comparing image/varbinary and nullable column in sql server? this is what i do to find out the different in image column in 2 tables sharing the same structure: Select * From TblA s Left Join TblB c On
s.Id = c.Id And Coalesce(Convert(VARBINARY(MAX), c.Image),'') <> Coalesce(Convert(VARBINARY(MAX), s.Image),'') Where c.Id IS NULL
alternatively, i was thinking to compare the column with the size, but worry about the accuracy: Select * From TblA s Left Join TblB c On
s.Id = c.Id And ISNULL(Datalength(c.Image),0) <> ISNULL(Datalength(s.Image),0) Where c.Id IS NULL
