Has anyone seen this issue before? We are running a SQL CE 3.5 database on a windows desktop. A couple of our tables have ntext fields. When we do an insert the statement updates the value for all rows, not just the one that was added. I can easily repro this with some of the online samples too. Try the following:

I am trying to insert multiple values from another table as well as an addition value defined by me. Here's my code which is obviously incorrect at the AND statement:

Jan 25, 2008Hi All, am new to sql server in my application I am having one Asp.net web page, the user has to enter values for 5 fields(Empno,Empname,salary,deptno,deptname) in that web page and for that i created two tables in sql serverEmp Table- empno(primary key),empname,salaryDept Table- Deptno(primary key),empno(Foreign key ),Deptname(with some check constraint.) After the user enter all the values in the Asp.net web page now i want to store data into database for that i wrote the following stored procedure...create procedure usp_EmpDept @empno integer, @empname varchar(15), @salary money, @deptno integer, @deptname varchar(10) As Insert into emp(empno,empname,salary)values(@empno,@empname,@salary) Insert into dept(deptno,Empno,deptname)values(@deptno,@empno,@deptname) but the problem is whenever some constaint violation for eg. if some check constraint violation in Dept table its inserting the values in the Emp table only, but my requirement is, It must enter into both tables if there is no constaraint violation otherwise it has to ignore both the tables. May 1, 2001Is there a way to insert multiple values into a single column based on various "tests".
For example, I want to check a sales_order table and flag all new orders coming in against previous orders placed that were determined to be fraudulent. If I were to set up i.e. five different tests(i.e. check email, credit_card number etc. against previous fraud orders), then there would be the possibility that any given order can be flagged 1 to 5 times. I want to record all of these tests within the same column if possible. Therefore the output may look something like the following:
order_number fraud_score
1234567890 a,b,d
5432109876 e
2345678901 null
3455607983 a,b,c,d,e
I was considering adding five additional columns to the table and running five different update steps, but this doesn't appear very scalable. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Retrieving Multiple Values From One Field In SQL Server For Use In Multiple Columsn In Reports
Mar 30, 2007I am trying to create a report using Reporting Services.
My problem right now is that the way the table is constructed, I am trying to pull 3 seperate values i.e. One is the number of Hours, One is the type of work, and the 3rd is the Grade, out of one column and place them in 3 seperate columns in the report.
I can currently get one value but how to get the information I need to be able to use in my reports.
So far what I've been working with SQL Reporting Services 2005 I love it and have made several reports, but this one has got me stumped.
Any help would be appreciated.

I might not have made my problem quite clear enough. My table has one column labeled value. The value in that table is linked through an ID field to another table where the ID's are broken down to one ID =Number of Hours, One ID = Grade and One ID= type of work.
What I'm trying to do is when using these ID's and seperate the value related to those ID's into 3 seperate columns in a query for using in Reporting Services to create the report
As you can see, I'm attempting to change the name of the same column 3 times to reflect the correct information and then link them all to the person, where one person might have several entries in the other fields.
As you can see I can change the names individually in queries and pull the information seperately, it's when roll them altogether is where I'm running into my problem

I need a solution to select all values from CODES that are distinct so I end up with the following.

Reporting Services :: Pass Multiple Values From Field To Sub Report
Dec 3, 2015I would like to know how does subreport accept multi value, and how should i modify my expression so that the sub report will display correctly.
My main report will pass dynamic number of account number to sub report, it depends on how many account number a person has. I have my sub report parameter Data Type set as "Allow multiple values" and the visibility is "Visible".
Currently, I am using the following expression to try to pass multi value from main report to sub report. I had tested the result of that expression. It is showing the following result when there are 3 account numbers to pass to sub report.

With that expression, when only one account no is pass from main report to sub report, the sub report will display the result. But when more than one account numbers are passing over, the sub report display nothing, it is blank.

I have another table calledBidFolder which is related to both BidItem and BidAddendum, based on acolumn called RefId and one called Type, i.e. type 1 is a relationshipto BidItem and type 2 is a relationship to BidAddendum.Is there any way to specify a foreign key that will allow for thedifferent types indicating which table the relationship should existon? Or do I have to have two separate tables with identical columns(and remove the type column) ?? I would prefer not to have multipleidentical tables.

Inserting Into Varbinary Field

I'm trying to insert a string expression into a varbinary field. I've tried it several ways, but the data does not seem to get inserted.
I map DT_STR field ("T") with varbinary field in destination table and the package executes properly, but when I see the data that it has been loaded I only see empty values (0x).
I have also tried other approaches, like converting to DT_BYTES during SSIS flow, but I always get the same result.
Any idea of how to achieve this?

Since I have defined column 2 as an identity column, I don't understand why SQL Query analyzer is upset when I do not have a value in that field. To me, I would think it would auto-insert an integer (starting at seed 1 and incrementing by 1), but it doesn't. Could someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

I'm using the visual web developer, .net 2.0, sql server 2005.I'm trying to have an option in one of my forms that allows me to add Jobs for a specific time frame. Say I want to add a job called "JobOne" and that I expect this job to last 2 months, so I would like to add this "JobOne" from October 1st 2006 to December 1st 2006. Than in the table "jobs" I would see JobOne in October 1st, 2nd, 3rd... all the way to December 1st. I'm familiar how to insert single values from formviews, using sqldatasources but I have no idea how to insert something like this, so I was wondering if anyone out there could help.Thanks!

I have multiple columns in a Single Table and i want to search values in different columns. My table structure is
col1 (identity PK)
col2 (varchar(max))
col3 (varchar(max))
I have created a single FULLTEXT on col2 & col3.
suppose i want to search col2='engine' and col3='toyota' i write query as
SELECT
TBL.col2,TBL.col3
FROM
TBL
INNER JOIN
CONTAINSTABLE(TBL,col2,'engine') TBL1
ON
TBL.col1=TBL1.[key]
INNER JOIN

Every thing works well if database is small. But now i have 20 million records in my database. Taking an exmaple there are 5million record with col2='engine' and only 1 record with col3='toyota', it take substantial time to find 1 record.
I was thinking this i can address this issue if i merge both columns in a Single column, but i cannot figure out what format i save it in single column that i can use query to extract correct information.
for e.g.;
i was thinking to concatinate both fields like
col4= ABengineBA + ABBToyotaBBA
and in search i use
SELECT
TBL.col4
FROM
TBL
INNER JOIN
CONTAINSTABLE(TBL,col4,' "ABengineBA" AND "ABBToyotaBBA"') TBL1
ON

Result = 1 row
But it don't work in following scenario

Inserting More Then 999.99 In Money Field Error
Feb 21, 2007I am trying to insert 1000000.00 into my sql table from a webpage. I as long as the amount is 999.99 or less it works fine, once higher then that amount it gives me an error.
Below is the code I am using to do the insert, it gets the error on the insert and the update both:

Inserting NULL Into Datetime Field
Aug 17, 2007I have a datetime field in a database which I am programmatically inserting values into. The field can be null or not null. However, I am having problems inserting NULL as part of my SQLCommand.
The value is pulled from a text box (linked to a calendar extender) and when I select a value it is being inserted fine. If I just leave the box blank though, I want the field to be set to NULL. I have tried adding in ,DBNULL.Value, as part of my VALUES(…) string, but this throws an exception. I Have tried just inserting ‘’ but that also throws an exception (“The conversion of a char data type to a datetime data type resulted in an out-of-range datetime value�), so I don’t know how I can insert this value when the field is blank?
