SQL Serv Express Wont Install Error: Action ParseBootstrapOptionsAction Failed During Execution
Oct 23, 2006Have run about six downlowds and all fail with same problem. The installer seems to be missing a file. all other parts of Viz studio Exp install but NOT the sql server exp.
Am I the only one getting this ? and if so what is the problem?. All other Visual Dev Express parts have instald OK.
Run on XP home SP2. As I posted this I noticed the compiler time stamp is 4 days ahead of real time ???

Install SQL Server 2005 Cluster Error - ParseBootstrapOptionsAction Failed
Apr 24, 2007Hi,
When I tried to SQL Server 2005 (Standard) to two-node Windows 2003 servers, the Remote Setup task on the 2nd node hang. Here is the SQL Setup log. Please help figure out the cause of the problem. Thanks in advance.

Error When Attempting To Install SQL Server 2005 Express
Apr 22, 2008Hi,
I'm trying to install Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition (x86) on my laptop when a setup failure message would show up at the end. When I clicked for more details it has the followings:
Product Version 9.00.3042.00
Message Source setup.rll
Message ID 50000
EvtType sharedsetupsharedsetupactions.cpp
And later when I tried to uninstall it from Add/Remove Program the screen would simply flash when I click but nothing happens.
Please let me know what do I need to install the piece correctly, thanks!

SQl 2005 Express Will Not Install. Error: 29528 Access Is Denied
Oct 30, 2007I cannot get SQL Server 2005 Express installed on a 2003 Small Business Server. I am logged in as an admin.
The error:

I have uninstalled all instances of SQL Server. Rebooted server and tried again, but get same error.
Any ideas?

Sep 11, 2007 I need help! When installing SQL Server 2005 Express on one machine, I get an error with the following summary.txt

This installation is forbidden by system policy. Contact your system administrator.
The person trying to install has administration privileges. BTW: The computer shares a wireless internet connection with other computers in the office but the clients or not setup to share data. My user is installing SQL, the data, and app on a single client. The MS Sql Server 2005 express seems to install on all other boxes. Thanks for your time.

Mar 7, 2008I am installing SQL Server 2005 Express Edition with Advanced Services on Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and received error 29521. I am installing with an account that has administrator rights.
The summary.txt file contains:
Error String : SQL Server Setup failed to execute a command for server configuration. The error was {Microsoft}{SQL Native Client}{SQL Server}CREATE DATABASE failed. Some file names listed could not be created. Check related errors.. Refer to the server error logs and Setup logs for detailed error information.

Unable To Re-install SQL Server 2005 Express And Also SQL Express Toolkit
Jul 28, 2007Hi,
I had some issues on my server and had to uninstall .Net Framework 2.0, SQL Server 2005 Express, and SQL Express Toolkit. I installed SQL Server 2005 Express and it seemed to be ok.
Then my problems all started when I tried to install SQL Express Toolkit because I needed to install DTS Wizard again, and it errors out and wouldn't let me install it. So I uninstalled everything that's listed above again.
I then tried to install SQL Server 2005 Express again, and on the second from last screen, while its listing all the components and configuring them, I get the following error as it's configuring the last component... which was the SQL Server Database Services.

How To Set Up SQL Server 2005 Express After Install VS 2008 Express
May 7, 2008I installed VS 2008 Express with an option to download SQL Server 2005 Express. I noticed there is a '90' folder under my Microsoft SQL Server folder. I assumed this the folder for SQL Server 2005 Express.
How do I set up my SQL Server2005 Express, so that I can use some sample databases for my VS 2008 Express? Any difference for SQL Server 2005 Express between VS 2008 Expressdownload and SQL Server 2005 Express download?

Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt Missing From SQL Server 2005 Express Toolkit Install
May 10, 2006The program shortcut "Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt" seems to be mising from the "Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt" Start menu added by the current Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express Edition Toolkit. Where is it? How to workaround?
I am trying to do Download details SQL Server 2005 Samples and Sample Databases (April 2006) -> GettingStartedWithSQLSamples.htm which says "a. Open a Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 command prompt. Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft Visual Studio 2005, point to Visual Studio Tools, and then click Visual Studio 2005 Command Prompt." but I can find no such command prompt within "Visual Studio Tools", only "Visual Studio 2005 Remote Debugger{, Configuration Wizard}".
What's wrong? How to fix or workaround? I'd install .NET SDK 2.0 to get it's Command Prompt but that's about 570MB merely for a command prompt!

Jun 12, 2007I'm currently receiving the following error message whilst attempting to install SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition on Windows Server 2003 (32 Bit):
Error 29528. The setup has encountered an unexpected error while Installing performance counters. The error is: The system cannot find the file specified.
This server already has an install of SQL Server 2000 as the default instance. I'm attempting to install a new named instance of SQL Server 2005.

You can ignore this and it will complete the installation, but subsequently trying to patch with SP2 will fail on the same sections - Hotfix.exe crashes whilst attempting to patch Database Services, Integration Services and Client Components (3 separate crashes).
I've removed SQL Server 2005 elements and tried to re-install, but it's not improved the situation.
Any ideas?

Sql Server Express Install 2005
Dec 20, 2006I'm trying to install sql server 2005 and to be honest, I've had an absolute gutful.
I All i want to do is use it to develop my asp.net applications but everytime i set a profile variable or access the "security" tab in my asp.net web site administration tool, I get sql errors.
I've googled the *** out of my issue and have come to no helpful conclusion. I've been through the surface configuration to 'allow remote connections' even though i'm ON THE LOCAL MACHINE and it still errors and tells me its not accepting remote connections.
I've formatted windows to make sure, and tried again- same error, not to mention the frustration of having to manually extract the contents of the .exe file that i downloaded (From no other then microsoft.com).
will somebody please shed some light on this piece of junk program so i can do my development without tearing my hair out.

May 10, 2006When I try to run the install it detects some previous versions
components. The remove all previous beta components fails and I have
removed everything from the Add/Remove Programs.

Can't Install SQL Server Express 2005
Mar 31, 2008I get the fault message Error 29503 during the installation when the installation program wan't to start the SQL server
Nothing I do can get the installation to pass this point. I can how ever start the server from the RUN command with
"C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLBinnsqlservr.exe"
When I have to cancel since the server don't start the installation make a rollback and remove the SQLservr.exe etc.
I have a new laptop and want to install the SQL server express instead of MSDE2000 I have been using
The laptop is protected by SafeGuard easy but that it has been all the time even when MSDE2000 was installed.
I paste the information on the laptop and also the content on one of the log files that I have seen in other threads that You want to have the info from.
I have seen that it is a error mess regarding .NET 2.0, but this service is installed and report no faults in other applications. I don't have ISS, and I don't need it.

VS 2005 SQL Express Edition Will Not Install
Mar 26, 2007My VS 2005 SQL Express Edition will not install because my hardware is, well a little old, AMD K5 processor. I was wonder if I could instead run the older MSDE 2000 and still access this database using VS 2005 C# Express Edition?

Whole installation works fine until it comes to "Selected components are being configured" and there it shows:
MSXML6 - Setup FAILED. refer to the Setup log for details.
SQL Setup support files - Setup FINISHED.
SQL Native Client - Setup FINISHED.
SQL VSS Writter - - Setup FINISHED.
SQL Server Database Services - Setup FAILED. refer to the Setup log for details
And that's it. I cannot install SQL Server 2005 express.
I guess the problem is MSXML6 it cannot install because there is a newer version already there but I cannot uninstall it. How can I solve this problem ??

What .net 2.0 Download Do I Need To Install SQL Express 2005
May 21, 2008Hi there. I'm a complete novice, trying to insall SQL express 2005. I see on the install page the following message:
Download the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0
Before you complete a Microsoft SQL Server download and install any member of the SQL Server 2005 Express Edition family, you must install the .NET Framework 2.0.
When I click on the link, and go to the downloads page at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/netframework/aa569263.aspx I see there are several downloads concerning .net 2.0, including
.NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x86)
.NET Framework Version 2.0 Redistributable Package (x64)
.NET 2.0 SP1 (x86)
and others
Which of these files should I download? Or should I be looking for something else?

Cannot Install SQL Express; Peculiar Error
Jul 26, 2007SQL Express installation is bombing out with the "A beta version of the .NET Framework 2.0 or SQL Server was detected on the computer...".
From the log file:

The Product Name is ".NET Framework"
Now what is peculiar to me is that
1) this machine should have never had the beta software on it;
2) I have seen people with similar issues except their versioned info always said "versioned 2.0.50727" and the product guid is different, this one only says "2.0"; and
3) I thought that product guid was for the RTM 2.0.50727.42 release!
What is going on here and where is it getting this version information?

Aug 17, 2006Trying to install MS Sql Server 2005 Express tool-kit on local PC to manage SQL Express on Server. Was able to get this installed on the server but would like to be able to run the tool kit on PC to build reports + publish on reports server. when i try and install on pc i get
Error 1335.The cabinet file '_1979_RTL_x86_enu_VS_SCC_TeamCore.cab required for this installation is corrupt or cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.
I used the exact same install SQLEXPR_TOOLKIT.EXE on the server & didnot receive this error. Is it possible to run the toolkit on PC + connect to SQL 2005 Express on another server? I am running VWD 2005 Express on client PC + can connect to SQL 2005 EXPRESS on the other server just fine. I needed a way to build + publish reports so I looked at SQL 2005 EXPRESS + REPORTS SERVICES. These are working but I don't want to have to use the server to build the reports + publish them.

I am trying to install sql server express with advanced services and I can't get any further than this message:
