Install SQL 2005 Std X64 From Software Distribution Zip Files?

I've got three files (sql 2005 std edition x64) that were downloaded from the volume license software distribution download site. One appears to be the SP2 (SW_CD_NTRL_SQL_Svr_2005SP2_64Bit_X64_English_1_X13-36347.EXE). But the other two I can't figure out how to handle. I've unzipped them both (SW_CD_SQL_Svr_Standard_Edtn_2005_64Bit_X64_English_1_x64_MLF_X11-57664.EXE SW_CD_SQL_Svr_Standard_Edtn_2005_64Bit_X64_English_2_x64_MLF_X11-57665.EXE) and they appear to have differences in what they contain, BUT there are no instructions on how to proceed with the install. I'm guessing one of them is the 32 bit versions of the management tools that still run in 32 bit mode and the other is the server. The readme's in both are the same. There are no directions on what to do or how to proceed with the installation. I've started both installs just to get far enough to see that they both want to install prerequisite software but neither tells me that this is 64 bit prerequisite. They look identical to that point.
Please point me in the right direction for some instructions on how to install this. I've installed SQL hundreds of times, but this one has be stumped on the proper process.
Hi, I am trying to lean ASP.NET. So I was trying to install SQL Server too. But, I could not install. The aleart box popped up:
"SQL Server set up cannot install files to the compressed or encrypted folder: C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server"
Before this, I also got a warning that the hardware of my computer does not meet the hardware requirement.
I would like to know how I can install SQL Server into my computer. Or, shouldn't I do that? To learn ASP.NET I want to have a database ready. If I can not use SQL Server, I may try Access or something smaller...
For the past several weeks, I have been trying to install SQL Server 2005 on a Win XP SP2 PC. Regardless of the options I choose (SQL Engine + Client Tools, Client Tools only, etc.) when the installation gets to the end of the Client Tools setup and the setup status displays "Removing Backup Files", my PC appears to hang.
For a period of time, there is a fair amount of HD activity which gives me the impression that files are in fact being deleted, but then there is no HD activity and the installation appears to hang. Finally I give up and kill the setup process and reboot.
After reboot, it appears that the client tools have been installed (the icons appear and I can open the Management Studio, but when I try to connect to an existing instance of SQL, that hangs. This occurs for either Windows or SQL authentication.
Has anyone experienced this behavior and determined the root cause? What EXACTLY is happening during the "Removing Backup Files" phase of the installation?
I haven't found the definitive answer on how or if this can be done without removing replication. I'm thinking ALTER DATABASE modify_file is the way to go. Anybody know if this will work or a better way to go about it?
I've been using replication for a long while now but have never come across this error. It's a basic transactional replication from ServerA to ServerB, where ServerA is also the distributor. Everything had been running fine on it until yesterday, when this error started popping up and no further transactions could be delivered.
After some quick googling I was able to determine that the distribution agent account needed write access to C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL Server100Com. According to the MSFT article it's because the distribution agent is running under a non-default profile. I didn't change this. However, what I did change around the time that these errors started occurring was the server's Replication Max Test Size setting. It would be far too coincidental for this to not be the cause, but what I don't understand is *why* that would have changed it.
how do I change this? It is definitely not preferable to create temp files in this directory in our environment.
On SQL Server 2005 SP2 for Publisher and Distributor on the same instance, my old snapshots are not being cleaned up.
The following error is in the agent history:

xp_cmdshell is enabled and I can run commands like :
exec master.dbo.xp_cmdshell ' md c:TestFolder'
The permissions to the snapshot share and file system are that DomainMyUser has full control.
I have logged into the machine as this user and can remove snapshots so it does not seem to be a permission issue.
On other machines I do not get any errors but the snapshot folder still is not cleaned up.

The rest of the script fails due to this line... Now, I am fair at SQL, but I am no DBA. I did some searching and found one post that seemed to have the same problem, and the gentleman solved it himself, but did not explain how lol.
Hi, what is the distribution fee for SQL Server 2005 Desktop Engine distribution? Where can I find this information? I don't need it for development only for distribution.
Using SQL Server 2005 Express (Advanced SP2) I have created a Full-Text Search application in VB for distribution on CD for single PCs. Works fine on my local machine during development.
Although the SQL Server 2005 Express edition can be distributed freely, it does not seem to support Full-Text searches in the distributed version. Is this true? Or am I missing something with my deployment?
If I need another version of Sql Server for distribution of a Full-Text Search app, how do I go about obtaining the proper DB and permission for distribution? The DB size is about 600 MB.
I am setting up a clustered sql 2005 to test replciation and I am having trouble setting the server as a distributor. I get the following message
* SQL Server could not configure xxxx as a Distributor.

I (absolute beginner) configured a distribution on a publisher wich acts as its own distributor. I did it by right click on replication "configure distribution", followed all instructions and chose all default values. Nothing more. But now I want to view the distributor properties and following message appears:

My collegue has no problems viewing these properties. We have both XP and SQLServer 2005 SP1. What is the reason for this error message? And how can I solve it?
I am currently running Windows XP Professional Service Pack2. It already has MSDE & SQL Server 2000 installed (although I just uninstalled MSDE in the vain hope that it might present the installer with a more straightforward upgrade).
I have tried installing with the default instance & a new instance (I don't really care - I just need to install the darn thing). I just want the basic database & Books On-line, nothing fancy.

I suppose an error dialog (or log message) that actually told you what is wrong and then what to do is too much to ask for. (Or an installer than just copied all the files into place). :(

I have a table with names and e-mail addresses of people in my data warehouse. This table changes over time, more people will be added and data (for example e-mail addresses) can change. I made 1 report that I want to mail to all the people in the table. This report contains 1 parameter; the e-mail address of a person. So basically it€™s quite simple: I want to e-mail all the people in the table a personalized (by the parameter) report each month.
Can anybody tell me how I can achieve this with SSRS 2005(SSEE)? I know how to make a data driven subscription but how can I make one pending on the data in a table?
Any help would be appreciated. I will write a blog about this when I've done it so your input will not get lost.
I believe I have made a complete install of Sql Server 2005 on my dev. machine, including all client tools, and can run SSIS packages from the dev. environment.
However DtExec refuses to run any package and always throws the "insufficient version" error (as does the "RunPackage" component, probably for the same reason).
I have repeatedly attempted to find something more to install from the Sql Server 2005 eval release that will allow DTExec to run without the "insufficient version" error, but can find nothing else to install from the eval. The install wizard (and the "change" wizard) indicates everything is installed and will not build a list of any additional components to install.
Are we sure that DtExec will install and run from a sql server 2005 eval distribution?
Licenses are in the pipeline (not that pipleine) but we need to start testing our SSIS solution in the meantime.

I have a database with two data files configured under primary filegroup. Both the files are set to grow automatically till the disk space is full and both the data files are in the same drive on same physical disk. When the transactions are happening in the database,how the data is getting distributed on both data files? Will the transactions is inserted in to the primary data file first and once that is full it will start occupying the secondary data file?. How this distribution is happening?

I could really use some help on this one. I know virtually nothing about SQL Server. We installed this because our database for the application we're running (Lexis Nexis Time Matters) had gotten too large for the Express 2005 version. We've also installed a new version of the software, and on a new server.
The new server has the drive partitioned into two partitions. When installing the application, I selected drive D (545 gb) as the data drive, but when I installed SQL server, it was installed on drive C (12 gb). I did not realize that the the application data was simply configuration information, and the data for the program is actually being installed on the C drive (Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL.1MSSQLData).
Is there a simple procedure to move this data, including the SQL instance (TIMEMATTERS) to the D drive? Or should I uninstall and start over?
I never installed previous beta versions on my computer before. But now I have some serious problem after an incomplete de-install and a re-install of SQL server 2005 express advanced. I hope anybody can help me to solve this. Because the first installation eas not succesfull I had to do an de-install. I have tried to unstall through start/control panel/ add-remove programms and even there not all programs were removed. And that caused the problem. After that I wanted to re-install again but an msi file was missing. So I did a de-install agian. Tried to re-install again but with a lot of errors. After looking at the library I found a program: Windows Install CleanUp. I installed it and that even gives an error for all programs installed with SQL 2005. After that I ran a program called MsiInv to clean but without any succes because this program reported a run-tim error. I have all reports on my computer but don't know how to attach them. Mydisk is corrupt and to order another media disk would damage mydeadline. I have the licence and serial key, but now need good installfiles. I'm getting this, after upgrading from 2000 to 2005.Replication-Replication Distribution Subsystem: agent (null) failed.The subscription to publication '(null)' has expired or does notexist.The only suggestions I've seen are to dump all subscriptions. I've created a linked server (and set up the corresponding schema.ini file) in order to perform bulk-inserts from some CSV text files into SQL tables (from my standpoint the text files are just for reading purposes). The linked server works fine (I can select the data in the files without a problem).
Now the question: is possible to automatically detect when one or more of those files change in order to start the import process automatically? Something like having a trigger created on the CSV files Or there's no easy way to do that so I have, to say something, to create a Job that periodically checks if the files have changed programatically (say, recording each file's timestamp everytime is imported and comparing the recorded value with the current one, or whatever)?
I went to one of the Microsoft "Ready To Launch" events over a year ago. Microsoft was gracious and gave everyone who attended a free copy of Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005. I have installed the Visual Studio and use it all of the time. I also installed the SQL server 2005 but I can not find the application on my computer. After the install the only items that appear to have been installed are the following: SQL Server Configuration tools(SQL Server Configuration manager,SQL Server Error and usage reporting, SQL Server surface area confiuration, Reporting Services configuration). There is also a menu icon labeled "Microsoft SQL server upgrade advisor" and SQL server upgraded wizard. That is all. I can't find anything that is analogus to the Enterprise manager that was in SQL server 2000 or anything that is analogous to Query Analyzer of 2005.
Can someone help me out? We use SQL server 2005 so I know how it looks. I just can't see where it insalled. I don't think it did?
I have never installed sql server before and I didnt know if I just take the sql server 2005 standard edition media and boot off it and do a fresh install that way or do I have to install Windows server
