May 14, 2007
Hi,
I have a requirement, where I have to integrate SSIS with IBM's Tivoli for scheduling of SSIS packages. Currently we are doing it using SQL sever Job Agent.
Do any one have Document or link or references, which I can refer to to acheive the above mentioned requirement?
Thanks

Hi All,
We are currently having an issue with a Reporting Services deployment which is being accessed through Tivoli Access Manager (with a custom SSRS security extension).
When you try to launch Report Builder, we receive the following error when ClickOnce tries to validate the deployed app (Report Builder works fine when accessed outside of the Tivoli Access Manager environment):
ERROR DETAILS
Following errors were detected during this operation.
* [20/03/2008 2:49:35 PM] System.Deployment.Application.InvalidDeploymentException (HashValidation)
- File, ReportBuilder.exe, has a different computed hash than specified in manifest.
- Source: System.Deployment
Can anyone shed any light on what might be causing this?
All of the components (including the manifest) are downloaded to the client correctly so the authentication seems to be working and it works outside of TAM so there is no issue with the files on teh server having changed etc. either.
Thanks.

We are trying to make use of reporting services in our web application. We have however run into some problems.
The SQL Server Express 2005 edition is not installed on the development web server. When we try to access a report throught the ReportViewer we get an Access Denied message? After reading up a bit we have created a class which implements the IReportServerConnection interface. This however lead to a new problem which we have as of yet not found a solution for in that it causes a new error. "Custom Security Extensions is not Supported in the Edition of Reporting Services". Does any one have a solution/workaround for this problem.
Thanks

Hello
I have an existing web app on my web server, and reporting services on my app server. I'm trying to integrate the reports into the web app.
The problem is, when the user clicks 'execute report', the app, predictably, falls over, because the aspx page thinks it's on the same server as reporting services, whereas it's not.
Does anybody know how these requests from the aspx page can be redirected to a different server? The way I see it, if I can't get the integration working through url access, I'll have to use the soap api, which will involve dynamically creating drop downs for the report parameters, etc, which is moving away from utilising the advantages that reporting services brings!
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Hi All,
I'm going to use report viewer to view the SSRS reports that I create. I have created bunch of reports. But I can publish only one report on report viewer. How can I publish more than one reports there just like on report manager. Can I view those reports just clicking links of each reports? How can I make links?
When I use reportview in visual studio it allows me to create only one report and when I dploy it straightaway it brings up the report in web form, but not the link like we see on report manager.
Is there anyway I can create links for each reports?
Or in other words, I want to integrate report server and report viewer. But I dont have a very good idea about report viewer.
So please can anyone explain the basic steps?
Thanks

Hi there,
I have a problem for integrating sharepoint to reporting service. In my project web access page, when I tried to open a .rdl report, the following error occured:
An unexpected error occurred while connecting to the report server. Verify that the report server is available and configured for SharePoint integrated mode--> Server was unable to process request
Then when I go to the reporting service configuration manager. I saw that in the Server Status tab, the "Initialize" field is "No". And for the Sharepoint Integration tab, there was a blue "!" mark on it.
I read from the web (http://www.helloitsliam.com/archive/2007/10/23/moss2007-€“-reporting-services-add-in-and-configuration.aspx) that if the database setup is ok, then the sharepoint integration will also be ok and the report manager virtual directory will turn gray. However, there is an error when setting up the database. In the task status, "Verifying Database Edition", "Verifying Database Version", "Creating a Grant Rights script for xxxxxxxxxx" and "Assigning Reporting Services Rights to User" were all marked as a green tick. However, there is a yellow "!" for "Setting Connection Info for Reporting Service" and the detailed error is as follows:
ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.WMIProviderException: The encrypted value for the "LogonCred" configuration setting cannot be decrypted. (rsFailedToDecryptConfigInformation)
at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.ThrowOnError(ManagementBaseObject mo)
at ReportServicesConfigUI.WMIProvider.RSReportServerAdmin.ListReportServersInDatabase(RSReportServerInfo[]& serverInfos)
Does anyone know how to solve it? Thanks in advance!!

Ryan

Hi all!
I am experiencing a problem integrating Reporting Services in MOSS 2007.
I tell you:
When i am in Reporting Services -> Aplications Administration, i click to set the default server settings and this error appears (it's in spanish, i try to translate below)
Unexpected error while conecting to the report server. Check that the server is online and configured for the integrated Sharepoint mode. --> Server can precess the request ---> The client found the content response type 'text/html; charset=utf-8', but expected 'text/xml'.
I have watched into the report server, and it appears as integrated in Sharepoint.
If someone knows how to fix this, it would be very helpful.
Thanks all.

Hi,
I have come to know from the SQL Server documentation that the Hardware Security Modules (HSM) can be used for Cryptographic Key storage within SQL Server to increase the level of protection of data at rest. We provide a HSM Solution which protects cryptographic keys and performs cryptographic operations onboard. The aforesaid fact about SQL Server and HSMs motivates us to test our HSM product with the SQL Server. Our HSM solution provides SDK for applications/servers to communicate with the HSM hardware. The SDK basically consists of two libraries:
-MS CAPI Interface (CSP Library)
-PKCS#11 Interface (cryptoki Library)
I have found this forum best for such kind of discussion. So could you guys on the list let me know:
- How the CSP or PKCS#11 library can be integrated with the SQL Server for HSM box to protect the cryptographic keys?
- Would I need to write a new Interface/Wrapper for this integration, If yes please help?
Thanks in advance.
Harsh.

I am a Windows developer for the IBM Tivoli Storage Manager Server (TSMS) product.
Our product installation is built with InstallShield and uses the Windows Installer.
On a new installation of Windows 2003 x64 Storage Server R2, at a customer's site, the TSMS product fails to install.
The install of the OS has version 3.01.400.3959 of the Windows Installer and I see no newer version that installs.
Part of our product is 32 bit (console) and another part is x64 (server).
When installing I can see that the install's default is being redirected/reset to C:Program Files (x86)TivoliTSM after it is explicitly set by a custom action to ..Program Files.. . I further observe that our custom actions to write 64 bit registry entries are being refused.
REGSAM samMask = KEY_ALL_ACCESS;
if ( regIsWow64Process () ) samMask = samMask | KEY_WOW64_64KEY;
lStatus = RegCreateKeyEx( hLocalConnectKeyRoot,
szSubkey,
0L,
NULL,
REG_OPTION_NON_VOLATILE,
samMask,
NULL,
hKey,
&dw ) ;
The above fails to create the key.
We have tried four versions of our TSMS spanning many changes but the install acts the same.
This does not happen on any other Windows OS we test on but we do not test on Windows 2003 Storage Server R2 being that it is an OEM product. We did test on Windows server 2003 R2 x64 and do not see this problem.
Do you have any suggestions on how to tackle this problem?
I have full installation traces but can only see that the registry work is being refused. I can't see why.

I want to achieve the following in (SSIS/SSDT for SQL 2012) -Â
I have a generic SSIS package which simply sends out email notifications using SMTP email task (this package is within its own project, and has project level input parameters).
I need to be able to call this package in the Event handler section of every package (numbering in about less than 60) that we have. These packages are within their own respective projects.
I thought I could use the "execute package task", but it turns out , using this, I cannot call a package that is part of some other project. I also cannot call a package that is stored in the CATALOG. Is there any way I can do this ?
When I call the child package , I should be able to send in parameters like - error information and package name of the Parent package.

I have an SSIS package (TransAgentMaster) that I recently modified to include a call to a child package via the file system. The child package creates a text file. When I run the package in dev studio then the child package/text file is produced.
I then imported the TransAgentMaster as a stored packagesfilesystem package into SQL SSIS and executed the package. The child package produced the text file.
I then ran the SQL Server Agent to see if the child package would work and it did not generate the text file. Thus after updating a SSIS package importing the package into SSIS the job that calls the package will not call the child package. Please not that the TransAgentMaster package calls 7 children packages €¦ just not my new one.
Any thoughts why the agent will not run the child newly crated childe package?

Run the SSIS import/export wizard.

Select the tasks created.
Copy.
Here is the error that occurs.
p.s. Does anyone have any needles I can borrow? I think sticking them in my eyes would be nicer than working with SSIS.

Hi,
I'm finding that the standard components often just don't quite meet my
needs, but would only need some fairly minor changes to save me and my team a lot of
work (and produce more elegant solutions). So I was just wondering whether the source code was available for the standard components that come with SSIS, or if there is anyway to extend their functionality?
Or do you just have to start form scratch?
Thanks,

I need to build an asp.net/C# application to read values from an Excel spreadsheet. Once the values are read from the spreadsheet, the C# code will do some elementary statistics on the values read. Then the values read and their computations will be written to a sql server database.
My manager suggested that SSIS might be a good candidate technology for doing this type of work. Does that sound correct? My only hesitation with using SSIS is that I want to keep the application as simple as possible, so that the code can be more portable. Maybe might argument is not a good one, but maybe someone can help me out here.

Dear Friends,
I store several configurations in the main database of my SSIS packages. I need to get the servername from a xml or txt file in order to get those configurations stored in my database.
How you think is the better way to do that?
Using a FlatFileSource to read the file and a script to save the value into a SSIS variable?
Using the package configuration I cant do that... maybe I dont know, but I can save the SSIS variale in the configuration file, but what I need is to do the inverse, read the configuration file and save the value in the SSIS variable.
How the best way you suggest?!
Regards!!
Thanks.

Hello All!
I have two questions to ask in this one thread. I would appreciate any feedback.
1. Is it possible to create GUI from SSIS using macro so that it can display forms or dialogs? If so how can I create a form that can be used to pass the parameters for the execution of the SSIS??
2. Is it possible to pass parameter(s) to SSIS? If yes, how can we do it...Please provide me with any example.
I wait to hear from you!
Thanks,

Hi Gurus,
I am new to SSIS. I am trying to install just the SSIS in one machine("SSIS Machine") and just the DB Engine ("SQL Server Machine") in another machine. What I am trying to do is, separating the SSIS service and packages from the Database Engine and trying to run in in another machine. I have few questions on this topic. I searched on this forum but I couldn't find a concrete answer to those questions. Forgive me if it already answered/asked multiple times.
1. When I install SSIS in "SSIS Machine", do I need to install client components also in the same machine?
2. I already established this setup (SSIS with client components in one machine and SQL Server in another) but when I tried to connect to the SSIS thro' Management Studio from Sql Server machine, I keep getting "Access Denied" error. Is it possible to connect to SSIS server from another machine (using Management studio)? I tried the DCOM security permission options I found in the internet(I don't have domain id so I gave "Everyone" full access) but still I get the same error. Any help would be appriciated.
3. Do I need 2 SQL Server Licenses (Enterprise) if I go with this environment?
4. Is it possible to configure SQL Job to run SSIS installed in another machine?
I would appriciate any help on this issue.
Thanks

Hello everyone!!
I am completely new to SSIS and have been given a large project (of course with a tight deadline) that has the absolute requirement of using SSIS. I am/was very, very good with DTS and could easily accomplish what I need to do with an ActiveX script task in DTS in no time, but as this is new development, we are not to use ActiveX script tasks within SSIS since it will not be supported in the next SQL Server release. I'm thinking script task, but please give some comments on how you would accomplish the following in SSIS (please remember I'm new to SSIS, so don't assume I know anything. )
I must accomplish this: in a nutshell, I need to create separate tab delimited text files of customer informaion. One for each region. Each region consists of X amount of states and we have X amount of regions. (Pseudo code followed by standard explanation)
Select a max value from region lookup table in SQL (this is the # of regions)
for N=1 to MyMaxValue
select states from region lookup table where region code = N (the current region we are on)
'this returns a list of states in a region, need these in array or recordset object or something
Open an output file which will be a tab delimited text file we will write results below in loop to (in DTS I would programatically kick off a transformation task in the package)
'loop thru states returned, so if in a rs object...
do while not rs.eof
execute customer stored procedure, passing as a variable the current state we are on
'this will return all customers within a state, this whole result set (approx 1 million) needs to go to the tab delimited file
'I have to execute this stored procedure for each state & then write results to the SAME file, until we are onto a different region
rs.movenext
close file
loop
next
OK, so basically, as you can see, Its sort of simple in a way what I need to do, i just have no idea how to go about doing this in SSIS. I can not hard code any state or region values. I MUST read them in from the lookup tables as region codes are constanatly changing and we are constantly adding in new states and new regions, so with above coding idea, it would always dynamically pick up any new states, new regions or changes.
So in a nutshell, I need to create separate tab delimited text files of customer informaion. One for each region. Each region consists of X amount of states and there are X amount of regions. Pretty strait forward, huh? The requirements are strait forward, but SSIS is throwing me for a loop... it does not seem flexible enough to be as dynamic as I need it to be to do this. I'm sure it is, just my understanding of it is very basic so far.
Please provide your suggestions! I think a lot of newbies would benefit from some SSIS design info... how to do common things in SSIS, but beyond just retrieving a recordset and writing it to a file... what do you do when you need to add just a few layers of decision processing, and retriving recordsets and writing files based on that decision processing?????
THANK YOU!!!!!!
Kathy
