Sep 8, 2015I am having a challenge to pass the filename variable from SSIS Foreach Loop Container to SQL store procedure. I have an "Execute SQL Task" inside "Foreach Loop Container" which will receive the input filename parameter passed by the Foreach Loop Container. The store procedure command line is defined as "EXEC sp_mySQLStoreProcedure ?" within the "Execute SQL Task". The Foreach loop container will gather the filenames from File System then put it in the filename variable one by one. I would like to pass the filename variable as the input parameter to the sp_mySQLStoreProcedure in the "Execute SQL Task". How can I connect the variable and the store procedure so that it will process all the input files gathered by the Foreach Loop Container?

May 6, 2015In order to update an Oracle table target from a SQL Server table source I need to use a Foreach Loop Container, so I can loop on the rows of the SQL Server table source. This source table has two columns: the old identifier to update and the new identifier to apply. I must use the value of the old identifier to filter the Oracle rows to update, while the new identifier is the new value to assign to the filtered old identifier.
I already know how to use the Foreach Loop Container when it is necessary to loop on an unique column of a table/view (using an object variable, using a Foreach ADO enumerator, etc.), but I need to loop on two columns.
Integration Services :: Cannot See SSIS Package In Drop Down List When Setting Up Job
May 26, 2015I have an SSIS package created on SQL Server 2005. I have moved this to a SQL Server 2008 R2 server and amended the package on this new server to point at the correct databases.
The package runs manually. However, I cannot see the package when trying to schedule a job. The dropdown list does not contain the package.
I imported the package by right clicking on MSDB and selecting the package from the file system. The package then appears under this folder (SQL Server Integration Services). I then create the SQL job but cannot see the package I just created.

Stored the .csv file in a shared folder and the exact path is given in Enumerator configuration of the foreach loop container. When I execute my package, it is giving the warning as below:
It is saying that file is not there in the specified path and directory is empty. I am running the SSIS package from TFS. I am sure that I have read and write access for the shared folder for my userID. Is there any access there to pick up this file from path.

The package has to look up in the directory 'f:ackups' for backupfiles and copy them into another folder.In my development environment it works fine. But if I run it on the SQL-Server with the SQL-Server Agent, the package logs always that the folder ist empty.Unfortunately the message is always 'empty folder' even if I define 'f:labla' as folder that actually not exists!
As filespecification I tried both *.* and *.bak .My assumption is, that the SQL-Server agent has not enough rights for that folder. But on the other side the agent is able to create backup-files in this folder.The SQL-Server Agent works under netservice control.

I have created the package which used to load files into target table using For each loop container.
But now requirement has been changed now I have to take only those files from table where status="Success" and max JobId. By the query I am to get those records which need to load into table.
Below query I am using to get the files which need to load.

Below screen shot of outer Foreach loop. Till here Its working fine. Inner for each loop container not executing any task under that. How to get it done.

Feb 3, 2014I recently upgraded to on 2012 SP1 CU5 and have found the SSDT gui for SSIS to be almost unusable. I can't drag or resize items. Any time i try they either automagically shrink to the tiniest possible size, shoot off to some extreme or just shake uncontrollably I didn't have these problems on previous versions (dont remember what It was).
Is there a fix for this?

Nov 3, 2015Suppose if I have a “Foreach Loop Container” that iterates over a list. Is it possible to execute different data flow tasks based on the input?
Example : List contains elements L1, L2 & L3.
ForEach Loop Container checks the input. If its L1 then it should execute DF Task1, If L2 then execute
DF Task2 and similarly for L3.
Is it possible to achieve this?

Jul 9, 2015in a my SSIS 2012 pkg I'm using a Foreach ADO Enumerator container that reads an object variable in order to get an id value.This identifier is passed as an input parameter to an Execute SQL task to update an Oracle table: if this task fails the id is written on a SQL Server table. After the Execute SQL task execution, with success or failure, the flow go to another task in the container.
When an error occurs for the update on Oracle table, each tasks inside the container are executed but the container fails and the loop ends.I'd like to complete the entire loop respect to the identifiers present in the object variable also if the update operation on Oracle table goes in error.

Integration Services :: Error When Modifying Existing DTSX Package
May 12, 2015We are struggling to add an extra column to a Dtsx package. The package essentially compiles data into a table and then exports the data to a series of Spreadsheets. So far I have ended up doing the following: -
-Creating a new Folder for the Spreadsheet Templates, copying the existing spreadsheets into the new Folder and then added the new Column.
-Creating new Connection Managers in the Package to connect to these new templates.
-Adding the column to the various data flow tasks so that the new column is converted and then exported (data type is varchar(30), conversion type is Unicode text stream [DTNTEXT]).
Everything validates when we compile the dtx package. However when we run the package we are getting the following error: -

Jul 21, 2015I have an existing old SSIS Solution that needs to be updated with MDX query. In the query I am using every thing as is but changing only the filter condition. When I try to Preview the data on data flow task, I am getting below error.
Outputs[OLE DB Source Output] references an external data type that cannot be mapped to a Data Flow task data type. The Data Flow task data type DT_WSTR will be used instead.
Package without MDX query update is running fine and no issues. I am using SQL Server 2014 and SSDT 12.0.50318.0 version for your info.
I tried updating SSAS connection string with "Format=Tabular" which was missing earlier and still didn't work.

The flat files each have their own connection manager. I was wondering if I could use the connection managers to determine the file names instead of creating a Script Task and hard-coding each of the file names to check.

When I select the FilesToArchive property in the Properties window, I get an ellipsis that appears in the property value. When I click on the ellipsis, it brings up the FolderBrowserDialog, which is defined in the UIFileNameEditor class. This all works fine.
What I want to do is to bring up the EditorUI, the one you get when you double click on the task, and also populate that with properties which can be edited. I have a class which inherits DTSBaseTaskUI, which is displayed when I double click on the task.
I can also get properties to be displayed in that UI but I cannot get them to be editable in that UI, using the same technique as in the standard Properties window, as described above.
Integration Services :: Adding Values To A Drop Down List In Custom SSIS Task
May 12, 2015I am writing my first custom SSIS task and I can see that, if I put a public property into the task, I see that property in the standard Properties window. If I add a property of type String, I can put a value in that property, in the task code, and when I instantiate the task in a package, I can see the value I entered.
To try and get a drop down list property in the Properties window, I declared a property of type Combobox, and indeed a drop down list appears in that property.
My problem is trying to get values in that property. I have used the test items:
Property.Items.add("Fred")
Property.Items.Add("Jim")
But I do not see the values in the drop down list. All I do see is one item with a value of "(none)".
Execute Package On A For Each Loop Container
Apr 18, 2006Hi. I am running a package using 'execute package' inside a for each loop file iteration. I have to iterate through some 10,000s of files to ETL source data, a resonably complex package. I want to set going and get some sleep but every 200 files or so I get a memory exhausted error and the task fails. Is there a short easy fix to refresh memory each iteration. If so please let me know. Just ignoring the failure at task level won't refresh the memory, will it?

Sep 8, 2015The only way to add a new column to an existing mapping that I know is to go to advanced editor and refresh. This however keeps only the default mapping (where the field names match), the rest is wiped out, so need to restore the mapping manually after that. Risky and annoying at the same time. Is there any alternative?

I am using For each loop container in my SSIS package which will loop through more than one input file in the input folder.
All the input files in the input folder are picked by one by one. All the input files in the input folder are executed with the same ExecutionInstanceGUID.
Now, my requirement is to get a new ExecutionInstanceGUID during the execution of each input file in the For each loop container. My package only contains the For each loop container with some logic inside that.
Please let me know if any one can help me for the same.

Oct 9, 2015I want to achieve the following in (SSIS/SSDT for SQL 2012) -
I have a generic SSIS package which simply sends out email notifications using SMTP email task (this package is within its own project, and has project level input parameters).
I need to be able to call this package in the Event handler section of every package (numbering in about less than 60) that we have. These packages are within their own respective projects.
I thought I could use the "execute package task", but it turns out , using this, I cannot call a package that is part of some other project. I also cannot call a package that is stored in the CATALOG. Is there any way I can do this ?
When I call the child package , I should be able to send in parameters like - error information and package name of the Parent package.

Nov 21, 2015Win 7 SP1 x64 PC. I installed SQL Server 2014 Dev Edition + Visual Studio 2015.
I'd like to create some basic ETL SSIS packages, and I worked very comfortably in 2008R2.
For 2014, I started with this tutorial:[URL]However, it says to go to Start->All Programs->Microsoft SQL Server->SQL Server Data Tools.
I did explicitly install SSDT when I installed VS2015. I also installed it separately. I see SSDT listed in Programs, and SSIS is running according to SQL Server Config Manager, and Services. Half of Microsoft's docs seem to be 2012 era, which is a shame because 2014 is out and it's nearly 2016...

Oct 2, 2015The attached image below shows the steps and its set up to fail if not successful.However there was a metadata validation issue in step one (underlying database field had changed), yet the job kept emailing stating it was successful.It appears to have just carried on with the other steps despite step one failing.
