Apr 15, 2015I use SQL Server 2012 and visual studio 2010.I created SSIS Project with task "Execute Package". Control flow view as: Package1 (execute package) -> Package2 (data flow).Data flow in Package2 view as: ADO.NET source -> ADO.NET destination.
When I started Package2, it's work. I havn't errors.But when I started Package 1 I have error "Unable to get managed connection from the Connection Manager runtime". In execution log I see that ADO.NET source produced this error on verification stage. Package failed on verification stage, not on execution stage.Why when I started Package 2 it work, but when I started Package1 (and Package1 started Package2) it failed?

I€™m new at SSIS and would like to try the follow easy function.
Just get some data from my database und put into a text-file.
All function going well.
Right now I€™ve got just one problem I can€™t resolve.
At the window €œConnection Managers€? are the connections I used in my project. But how can I make this connection more dynamical? E.g. I have a connection.txt file and the Connection Manager should set his properties after read this txt-file.
Have someone an idea?

whenever I create an Integrated Services project and attempt to add a Connection Manager I get the error
Connection Manager 'blah' is not properly installed on this computer.
(Microsoft.DataTransformationServices.Design)
This happens with all menu options except New Connection..
I have uninstalled and reinstalled both Visual Studio 2005 and SQL Server 2005 and made sure I have selected everything in each case
what am I missing?

Unused Connection Managers

I am unsure if i am managing my connections in the correct way... but as it stands we have them in a .dtsConfig file that each package references in order to get the relevant details..
This is working fine, except that in total our ETL project uses 6 different connections, and none of the packages utilise all 6.
This leads to an error message upon opening up EVERY package stating that there are connection strings in the .dtsConfig that are unused, yeah, thats the idea!
The way i have gotten around this, is to just include all 6 connection managers in every package, but my question is, is there a better way to achieve this same result??
are we going about this in a bit of a cackhanded way?
any incite would be useful..

SSIS Connection Managers Error
Feb 6, 2008I'm trying to create a new package and keep getting different errors. The package uses the same .NET ODBC provider as another package.
I can test the connection fine.
When I add a DataReader Source and select my connection I get the following warning:
Not all connection managers have been set. Set all connection managers.
If I click the refresh button I get this warning message:
Error at Data Flow Task [DataReader Source [6338]]: The runtime connection manager with the ID "" cannot be found. Verify that the connection manager collection has a connection manager with that ID.
All my collections have ID's and they are all read only.
If I ignore those warning I can enter my SQL command and go to the column mappings tab and see all the columns I selected but I then see several warnings all saying the same thing.
Driver does not support this function
I'm not able to close the Advanced Editor at this point.
Any ideas?
Questions On Custom Connection Managers
Feb 18, 2008I'm trying to create a custom connection manager and I have ConnectionType in the DtsConnection attribute set to "MSMDM". When I tried to create one in a package I got:
The connection type "MSMDM" specified for connection manager "{A8543B4B-41D9-4E69-9580-3D1A491AD719}" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.

So, a few questions:
What are the valid connection manager types?
Why can I not create a new connection manager type of my own?
If I cant create new connection manager types then the purpose of being able to build custom connecton managers is defeated. Hence, what's the point in giving us the ability to create custom connection managers?

Oracle Drivers In Connection Managers
Feb 15, 2006I am not seeing an option to use the OraOLEDB.Oracle driver when defining connections in ssis. This driver shows up in management studio when trying to create linked servers so I don't know why it wouldn't show up here. All the client tools are installed fine and the linked server works. Any ideas?

Connection Managers Are NOT Recognized After Migrating To Another Server

My database admin just migrated my packages from development to user testing server.
My packages configured to read the connection manager properties from the .dtsconfig.
But I am getting "The connection "CRPRDNMSQEZ.CIReporting2" is not found"
CRPRDNMSQEZ.CIReporting2 is being my connection manager.
I did find and replace server name in the dtsconfig but I guess it didn't work.
Any help is appreciated.

We are using a €œFlat File Connection Manager€? in our SSIS package.
The package fails occasionally while loading in the validation phase with the error
€œ-1073659899,0x,The connection type "FLATFILE" specified for connection manager "<some name>" is not recognized as a valid connection manager type. This error is returned when an attempt is made to create a connection manager for an unknown connection type. Check the spelling in the connection type name.
This error is not returned always.
Also I feel €œFLATFILE€? is a valid type of connection manager. This value €œFLATFILE€? is inserted by the editor and not manually typed. This is a weird behavior of SSIS.
Sometimes I get this error with respect to some other connection manager used in the package as well. €œOLEDB€? is the type of that other connection manager.
Has anybody faced similar issue earlier?
Please let me know some thoughts, suggestions, and possible work-arounds to avoid this error as this is very critical for us.

Assigning Passwords To Connection Managers Using Expressions

Sorry if this query had been raised earlier. While In DTS Packages we retrieve connection details for all Connections in a Package from a table and then assign them to the following global Variables
gv_Source_User, gv_Source_Pwd, gv_Source_DataSource, gv_Source_InitialCatalog
Finally we reassign these variables to repective Connection Properties using Dynamic Properties Task. After Migrating to SSIS though we are able to assign almost all variables to Properties of Connection Managers via Expression except the Password which we donot find in the drop down list in order to assign gv_Source_Pwd.
Is there any work around to assign passwords dynamically?

Extended Connection Managers For Data Flow Destinations?

Is there anyway to develop a custom connection manager for the SQL destination in the data flow destinations?
I can€™t use hardcoded connection strings. I can€™t use configurations because they are not encrypted. I already have managed code that will give the corrected connection string. I already have a custom connection manager that I use from the data flow sources. I just need one for data flow destinations but I can€™t see a way to extend into the OLE DB?
Using Connection Managers Inside Custom Log Provider Failing!

I'm trying to use an OLE DB connection manager from inside a custom log provider, but can't get the code to work - I get an exception "A first chance exception of type 'System.InvalidCastException' occurred in SSEALogProvider.dll" on the last line of the code below.
I know the connection is OLE DB from looking at .CreationName.
I've tried both with & without ToConnectionManager90(), but appearently not in the right way, both cases gives the same exception.
Any tips on what I'm missing? All the examples I've seen are either creating (instead of using) connection managers, or are file based connection managers. Any and all help much appreciated!

Aug 17, 2015I have an existing SSIS package created on another workstation. It connects to and updates data in a DB2 database.  I'm only making one very minor change to the package, so I want to change this package as little as possible.When I try to open the existing db2 connection manager in the package on my workstation, I get 'The specified provider is not supported.Please choose different provider in connection manager'.   Â
On the properties box, I get the following on the connectionString for the existing connection manager (data source and userid changed to "private"):Data Source=PRIVATE;User ID=private;Provider=IBMDADB2.DB2COPY1;Persist Security Info=True;
I tried loading the 32 and 64 bit db2 drivers (but I may have done something wrong). I still couldn't get the original db2 connection manager to open, I tried to add a new connection manager,
Data Source=PRIVATE;Provider=IBMDADB2 Advanced Page..This has 'Provider=IBMDADB2 Advanced Page.;' instead of Provider='IBMDADB2.DB2COPY1', and doesn't let me enter a userid and password, which I need to be able to do.   Â

Jan 1, 2014I'm using SSDT 2012 to create SMO Connection Manager for transferring server objects. However the connection is not working, it always returns error message something like "server is not found". I tried to connect multiple servers, with both Windows and SQL authentications, none of them works. I found the SMO.dll is already installed in the specific folder on my development machine. What would be the reason of this error?
Edited---Added the error message below. I can connect the server using OLEDB or ADO.NET. So my question is, is there a service, protocol or port .... to get SMO Server ready for responding?

Apr 21, 2015I have a several servers that i want to pull data from.I put the connection string in a OBJECT variable that come from configuration table and use it in the for loop mapping the value to local variable called connectionstring, this variable is the expression for the connection string property.So far everything is working as expected.
my problem is that on my development i put my local server in the connection string variable so i will be able to connect to the server so i will be able to map source to destination.
When i deploy the solution to production the data in the configuration table is different obviously but i get a connection error that saying that it try to connect to my dev server.why?

ST-MDR-NYMEXSPAN Connection manager "FF_errorEvent": The file name "fdyrs0 1MktDataWMDEVDevNymexSpanProcessingAreaAuditFilePackageErrorLog.csv" specified in the connection was not valid.  ST-MDR NYMEXSPAN_ Enhan.dtsx 0 0 ..But in connection i have provided the valid file. Please see the screenshot below. After providing the valid file also, this connection manager is saying "A valid file name must be selected". I deleted the connection and tried to create a new connection again but still i m getting this error. Then i tried creating connection on my local folder then it worked fine. why in the shared path i am getting this error? and what should i do to overcome it.
1) IÂ have access to this shared folder.
2) I have saved this connection in a variable.
3) Run64BitRuntime is set to false.

May 14, 2015I have a SSIS 2014 project that is being deployed to the 2014 SSIS catalog. In one of the packages there is a script task that uses an ftp connection manager within the package.
There is structured error handling in the script and it runs fine in development, but fails when deployed and scheduled to a SQL Server agent job. The error that is being returned isn't permissions of authentication failure, but returns as the task times out. The package and project use encryption by password.

Aug 26, 2015I have a package that works fine locally but doesn't work when I deploy it to the server (and reset the connection strings to the local DB and AS instances that are running on the same server)It's not the usual permissions issue; I'm getting something about the SQL Browser not running (it is) and named instances. But my SSAS instance is the default unnamed instance?
The error message is "errors in the oledb provider. could not connect to the redirector. ensure the sql browser is running on the "." server" then another error with "error while retrieving name instance information".I've tried referencing the ssas server using its ip, ., hostname but the package craps out in a few sec

Using excel connection to load data to SQL Server When I try doing this character data is loading as nulls, I have tried by putting IMEX=1 property in connection string and removing IMEX=1 property from connection string , in both cases it is showing nulls, in the data viewer which i have placed after Excel source. I have also tried using the OPENROWSET which for some reason does not create an adhoc connection. I also tried changing the Datatypes in the advanced editor which again throws error. For some reason SSIS excel connection reads only the first 8 rows and decides a datatype and rest showup NULL.

Aug 28, 2015I have an SSIS package that uses an FTP connection manager. When running the package in BIDS, it runs fine and maintains the password for the remote ftp site's user account.
Once I deploy the package and attempt to run it, it fails with the following error:

Nov 4, 2015I am having issue in running a ssis package which connects to an excel file from shared location.It works fine on the machine of the person who has developed it as he has access to that shared drive.After deploying the ssis package to SSISDB and creating a proxy account with the developer's credential, and running the ssis package using the proxy under SQL Agent Jobs, it is failing with error :

Integration Services :: The Connection Manager Seems To (forget) The Password In SSIS
Jun 22, 2015I create a connection to an OLE db source and use SQL Server authorization and save the password, the connection manager seems to "forget" the password. That is, when I click the 'save password' check box, and do a test connection, it connects fine. But as soon as I close that connection window, and reopen it, the password box is empty, and the 'save password' box is still checked.Â
While using the connection manager name in the SSIS component (say script task) the connection is failing . As a workaround, the whole connection string has been put in a variable and used that variable in the SCRIPT task.
Is it a bug or some other property need to be set to use ConnectionManager Name .

Integration Services :: Saving Connection Manager Password Permanently
May 13, 2015User A creates the SSIS Package and provides the password for the connection manager for a task (for OLE DB source) with SQL authentication.Â
When User B tries to run the SSIS package, the error is thrown as : The package may be damaged.
On typing the password again inside the connection manager, the execution occurs successfully. Is there any workaround to save the password permamanently for the connection manager rather than each user entering it in order to run the package ?

User::DBUserNameSource, User::DBPasswordSource,
User::DBuserNameDestination, User::DBPasswordDestination,
Then put them in Password and UserName property of Connection Manager? If this is possible, how and how can I set the values of those variables I mentioned when I am going to deploy the package in the Production?
