In my SSIS package, i have a field test_method_number coming from OLE DB Source. I used Derived transformation to trim test_method_number: TRIM(test_method_number)
Now in the next Derived Transformation, i see duplicate test_method_number. How to get rid of this duplicate?
I have one ssis package moving the data from staging to destination. In stating table we have the duplicate data. But in destination table 4 columns have primary key. How to handle the duplicate records in oldedb source.

I tried using the Derived Column/Data Conversion transformations but none of them worked. So, I tried using the following C# (credits to the original poster) and getting an error during compilation.
Note: "MyCol" is the Input Column I've specified in the Script Component and "CleanCol" is the Output column I've specified as datatype [DT_I4].

I am using Sql Server 2012. I have a table which has a field as Datetime (it is a table in Dynamics CRM 2011 so I have no control of the data type). Say this field is called BisStartDate. If I run this query in management studio.

I will get:

*in CRM, datetime is saved in 2 fields, one is the current time, the other one is the utc time.
You can see the offset between the datetime and utc is 5 hours.
However when the same statement was running inside a SSIS package on the server, the result returned is:

2014-07-28 23:00:00.0000000 2014-07-29 05:00:00.000
And if I do
datediff(MINUTE,CRMAF_BisSection.ttc_section_startdatetimeutc,CRMAF_BisSection.ttc_section_startdatetime)
I will get -5 if I run it in ManagementStudio and -6 is running on server package(running inside VisualStudio will be -5, same as running a query in ManagementStudio).
I think when the record was saved, “date” is 5 hours offset to UTC time but now the system use the current utc offset which is 6 hours. I just want to use the BisStartDate as it is. How do I let the SSIS turn off the conversion.
The same datatime is saved in another system then we compare them to check the data entry. Now because of this one hour difference, sometime the Day will be different.
We are using lookup transformation in SSIS 2012. The lookup transformation queries a table with two date columns. When we hover the mouse over the two columns in the 'columns' tab of the lookup transformation editor, the two columns show as DT_WSTR instead of DT_DBDATE. I have two tables that I UNION to retrieve data for users. A combination of these should have only one employee in the table. The problem is there is a unique id created for the position of instructors. In the other table, it holds all employees with an employee number. Some data such as username, email address, etc., does not change. So even though UNION should remove duplicates, I still have duplicates because of usernames is what I'm filtering on, it is the same in each table. In the combined table I'm only selecting specific employees based on Job class and Job code. For employee id in the first table it is preceeded with 'B', and the second by 'T' (this is only to identify which table the data is taken from). Here is what I am getting when I Union both tables.

I have a lot of different data flows that need "Derived Column". There are maybe only 5 different such "Derived Column" but they appear many times. Is there a way to eliminate all that double work? It should be something that does not take me more time to do than just duplicating all the "Derived Columns".

I have a generic SSIS package which simply sends out email notifications using SMTP email task (this package is within its own project, and has project level input parameters).
I need to be able to call this package in the Event handler section of every package (numbering in about less than 60) that we have. These packages are within their own respective projects.
I thought I could use the "execute package task", but it turns out , using this, I cannot call a package that is part of some other project. I also cannot call a package that is stored in the CATALOG. Is there any way I can do this ?
When I call the child package , I should be able to send in parameters like - error information and package name of the Parent package.
I am loading from SQL Server 2008 to Access 2010 using SSIS. One of the columns in the table I am loading into is a Number datatype and Fieldsize is long integer. The values are being truncated, so I want to change the Fieldsize to DOUBLE. However, when I do that I receive the error below. What should I do? I would like not to change my Windows registry.
This error can be caused by one of the following:
The maximum number of columns allowed in a table or the maximum number of locks for a single file is exceeded.
The indexed property of a field is changed from Yes (Duplicates OK) to Yes (No Duplicates) when duplicate data exists in the table.
An expression is not specified in the Expression property of a calculated field.
If the maximum number of locks per file was exceeded, you can increase the number by editing a registry entry. However, this is not a recommended option.
If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you could cause serious problems that require you to reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.
Make a backup of the registry. Find the MaxLocksPerFile registry value by using the Windows Registry Editor, and then increase the value. The MaxLocksPerFile value is saved as part of the following key:

If the Indexed property of a field and duplicate data is located in the table, reset the Indexed property to the previous setting, or remove duplicate records from the table.
While I was loading to the same table a few days ago, I received a warning and the task took approx 9 hours. I am attaching the screen shot.

I have searched the "2714 duplicate error msg," but have found references to duplicate table names, rather than multiple field names or column name duplicate errors, within a database.
I think that the schema is only allowing a single UserID primary key.

We have Live Database( LIVE_DB ) and Reports Database (REP_DB)
I want to trasfer the few tables data from LIVE_DB into the REP_DB for end of the day using SSIS
If any new records are added, updated or deleted in LIVE_DB, these should reflect in the REP_DB, Our requirement is not to delete the old data, we should append or delete or insert the new transaction data in REP_DB.

how do I get to the GUI where I can design ETL packages?
We'll be using 2014 enterprise to populate some excel spreadsheets. We may not have the option of using ssrs so here is the question.
The excel spreadsheets have some pretty fancy heading structures, multiple tabs and in a few cases graphs that i'm sure are dependent on data sitting somewhere in the spreadsheet. The heading have variable info in them (eg FYxx where xx is a parameterized fiscal year, month names etc). Sometimes those headings have sub headings (with variable info) and so on.
Generally speaking how (if at all) do folks deal with this kind of excel challenge when limited to using ssis? I don't know if templates are going to be a good idea. I don't know if i'll be looking at a fair amount of c# etc code behind the scenes. I can be more specific depending on the feedback.

we have a table with xml column. This column has a large xml data . I am trying to use ssis to import xml from sql column (table a) to destination (another table).
steps which i did in ssis:
1. execute sql task:
fetch the xml column by query and store "full result set" into an object variable.
2. foreach loop:
select Ado enumerator option and select variable which has reset set of execute sql task. In variable mapping selected a new variable of type string.
when I run package I get below error:
"Error: ForEach Variable Mapping number 1 to variable "User::variable" cannot be applied".
Have Visual Studio 2008 R2 with SP 2 installed. Due to a merger we now have a MySQL database that we need to update from SSIS. Everything works except for the table insert or update. Would upgrading to SP 3 or SP 4 maybe useful with that?
