View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a requirement to read an encrypted file as a data source. I am not allowed to save an unencrypted text file version on disc at any time for any length of time, therefore I created a custom source component that reads an encrypted csv file, decrypts it, and then passes each row of data to the pipeline and ultimately to an ole data destination. Basically it is just a text file reader with an added class that adds functionality that decrypts the file before the component sets columns or reads rows.
The custom component, “Encrypted File Source”, has a custom property “encryptionkey” with the encryption required flag set to true (code below) and is declared as eligible to be set in the expressions.
IDTSCustomProperty100 EncryptionKey = ComponentMetaData.CustomPropertyCollection.New();
EncryptionKey.Name =
"EncryptionKey";
EncryptionKey.Description =
"Secure String key value to decrypt the file";
EncryptionKey.Value =
string.Empty;
EncryptionKey.ExpressionType =
DTSCustomPropertyExpressionType.CPET_NOTIFY;
EncryptionKey.EncryptionRequired =
true;
I want to be able to set the password for the encrypted file in the SQL Agent job that executes the SSIS project. This means I have an environment with a variable, “DataPassword”, that is set to sensitive. It maps to a Project parameter in the SQL Agent job that is also set to sensitive. And I now I want to access that sensitive Project Password inside my data flow, specifically in the Encrypted File source task that I created and set my EncryptionKey to that Project Parameter.
The problem is that SSIS says.
"expression cannot be evaluated. ... The Expression will not be evaluated because it contains sensitive parameter value "$Project::DataFilePassord" . Verify that the expression is used properly and that it portects sensitive information"

Suppose if I have a “Foreach Loop Container” that iterates over a list. Is it possible to execute different data flow tasks based on the input?
Example : List contains elements L1, L2 & L3.
ForEach Loop Container checks the input. If its L1 then it should execute DF Task1, If L2 then execute
DF Task2 and similarly for L3.
Is it possible to achieve this?
I'm pretty new to SSIS but I've managed to cobble together a number of individual packages to refresh SQL tables from a 3rd-party database.
Now, what I'd like to do is have a single package that I can use to invoke each of the individual ones. Since it will run on a quad, I'd like to invoke them such they'll run in parallel.
I have a stored procedure. It can be executed like this
exec test @p = 1;
exec test @p = 2
exec test @p = n;
n can be hundred.
I want the sp being executed in parallel, not sequence. It means the 3 examples above can be run at the same time.
If I know the number in advance, say 3, I can create 3 different Execution SQL Tasks. They can be run in parallel.
However, the n is not static. It is coming from a table.
How can I execute Stored Procedures in PARALLEL and DYNAMICALLY ?
I think about using script task. In the script, I get the value of n, and the list of p, from the table, then running a loop with. In the loop, I create a threat and in the threat, I execute the sp like : exec test @p = p. So the exec test may be run parallel. But I am not sure if it works.
I have a Data Flow Task within a ForEach loop container. The source of the flow is ADO.NET connection and the destination is a Flat File Connection. I loop through a collection of strings in the ForEach loop. Based on the string content, I write some data to the same destination file in each iteration overwriting the previous version. I am running into following Errors:
[Flat File Destination [38]] Warning: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process.
[Flat File Destination [38]] Error: Cannot open the datafile "Example.csv".
[SSIS.Pipeline] Error: Flat File Destination failed the pre-execute phase and returned error code 0xC020200E.
I know what's happening but I don't know how to fix it. The first time through the ForEach loop, the destination file is updated. The second time is when this error pops up. I think it's because the first iteration is not closing the destination file. How do I force a close of the file within Data Flow task or through a subsequent Script Task.This works within a SQL 2008 package on one server but not within SQL 2012 package on a different server.
We have created SSIS package to load a text file into a table. Source system shares 10 text files and recently they stopped generating data for one of the text file (comping empty), after few months they will start generating the data for the empty file batch processing.
The Issue here is Data Flow task is getting failed while loading empty text file into table. How to handle this empty file load issue in SSIS package.
I have a delimited text file with 650+ columns. The sum of the column lengths of a single row, if fully populated, exceeds 30K bytes. The "killer" fields lengthwise are the "Description" fields. If they were removed from the input file, the remainig columns would occupy about 5000 bytes, which is within SQL max row length.
Can SSIS be used to created these two tables? (one without description fields, the other with those field but arranged vertically in the table rows).
The fundamental issue is I can not import a single file row into a sql table because that row length could exceed the max byte count for a row.
I have excel column with numeric and special character values , when I take that into SQL table using SSIS, the special character values enter as null value. the example column values are given bellow
1
2
2/1
1/2
1/2 means 1 or 2 ,
how can I read this values exactly into SQL table?
Facing problem while loading date in MS SQL Server 2005 from excel file (csv format).
How to load the excel file data without changing the excel file (csv format) .
see the [Start Date] and [ Exp End Date] having values like this : " 2015/07/31"
Hi,
I need to parameterize some values in the data flow so that i can chnage the values directly in parameter file and re run the data flow for new value in the passed in the parameter. This can be easy for other who do not know about the flow of data flow task as to where to change the variable/parameter.
How can this be accomplished. I want the data flow task to refer to this file before it starts executing and pick the appropriate value from the file.
Or is their any better way to accompalish what i want to do here in SSIS.???
tHNAKS FOR UR HELP FOLKS !!!
1 How to get the desired output colums into Excel file without having 'copy of column/unwanted columns' in destination file.
2. How to override the existing file in excel destination.
I have created an SSIS package which processes daily financial information to a sql server database. These processes are to be outputted to excel spreadsheets to a readable report format for management to review. Some of these reports are laid out in a way that is not just tabular output but requires customized placement of data on an excel spreadsheet to specific cells.
I am able to place an initial resultset of a query output from the database in a tabular excel template through SSIS but the issue is at the end of that placement in the spreadsheet I am required to place another output below that tabular output in a different format from the initial output which I have shown below.
IS that possible to get teh output of a execute sql task to excel destination.I have query which will comapre the data difference between two databses. It will comapre all tables in both databses and list out the difference in data by each table. I need to run this query using SSIS and need to get the output to a excel sheet...I have used the data flow task to run this query but my query is giving some error when used with data flow task. So i have used excecute sql task and need to write teh out put to a excel sheet.
View 11 Replies View RelatedHow do I pass a single column of values from a successful merge join to an EXECUTE SQL statement so it can be used with an "IN" criteria of the WHERE clause? Here's an example of my update statement with two random key values:
UPDATE dbo.MyTable SET MyStatus = 1 WHERE MyPK IN ("XYZ123", "DEF890")
Is this even possible in SSIS, or am I better off using a loop and running the update EXECUTE SQL Statement for each individual key value, as in the following example?
UPDATE dbo.MyTable SET MyStatus = 1 WHERE MyPK = "XYZ123"
UPDATE dbo.MyTable SET MyStatus = 1 WHERE MyPK = "DEF890"
Hi, all here,
Thank you very much for your kind attention.
I am wondering if it is possible to use SSIS to sample data set to training set and test set directly to my data mining models without saving them somewhere as occupying too much space? Really need guidance for that.
Thank you very much in advance for any help.
With best regards,
Yours sincerely,

View 4 Replies View RelatedHi, all here,
Would please any expert here give me any guidance about what Data Mining tasks can be automated and scheduled via Integration Services Packages? Also, If we automated the tasks, can we also automatically save the results of the tasks somewhere? Like if we automate assessing the accuracy of a mining model, then we wanna know the mining model accuracy later, therefore, we need to save all these results from the automated actions. Is it possible to realize this?
Thanks a lot in advance for any guidance and help for this.
With best regards,

Is there anyway to send excel file from ssis using send mail task without saving the excel file locally. I need to automate the process which involves loading the excel file from the database and send it to some people.

when executing my data flow package that contains only one source and one destination
OLE db source -> SQL server destination
the following errors occurs in my output
Error: 0xC0202009 at Data Flow Task(infraction action), SQL Server Destination [3600]: An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E14.
Error: 0xC0202071 at Data Flow Task(infraction action), SQL Server Destination [3600]: Unable to prepare the SSIS bulk insert for data insertion.

i've checked the structure of my source and destination table but nothing seems to be wrong
if someone have ever faced these errors help me :D
Dear All!
My package has a Data Flow Task. In Data Flow Task, I use a Script Component and a OLE BD Destination to transform data from txt file to database.
Within Data Flow Task, I want to call File System Task to move file to a folder or any Task of "Control Flow" Tab. So, Does SSIS support this task? Please show me if any
Thanks
I have a Problem with my destinations. I have a split condition with two ways the flow can use.
In this case: all and Date.
All and Date can be set by using a variable. Its working good.
When a user fills the variable with a date value (cast to string) the conditional split executes the correct flow with all the needed rows... The same time the all flow will be executed with 0 rows. In the end the destionation file for the all values will be overwritten with nothing. The same on the other hand when a user fills the variable with the all value, the date file is empty. What can i do to make sure that the files are not empty?
I'm a beginner in ssis. Use of Pointer in Data Flow task (Transformations)Royal PS
View 11 Replies View RelatedWe are using an OLE DB Source for the Data Flow Source and OLE DB Destination for the Data Flow Destination. The amount of data being moved is about 30 million rows, and it is gather using a sql command. There is not other transformations in between straight from one to another. The flow starts amazingly fast but after 5 million rows it slows considerably. Wondered if anyone has experienced anything similar with large loads.
View 6 Replies View RelatedData flow A take data from the Excel File A, Data B from Excel File B, Data C from Excel File C. What I'd like to do is that if something goes wrong on Data Flow A I would be alerted but the package should continue to running. The same for the DataFlow B, if A it's ok go on, if B fail send me the mail but continue until the end (so running the Data Flow C).
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a ssis package where I need to have excel destination. In the Excel file, I need to have few rows with some text and then populate data below the text. One the text is like this:
Data as of: 08/25/2015
if the report ran today, then Data as of will have Yesterday. So, if the user opens that excel file after a week, then user should see same Data as of: 08/25/2015. not today()-day(1).
I was planing to handle on excel side with today()-day(1). but it only works the day it was run. Then the excel file is open after few days later, then it might as Data as of: 08/30/2015 which is not true. It should still stay Data as of:
08/25/2015 on what ever date the excel file is open. The SSIS package runs only once.
How do I handle this so that whenever user open the file, they will see Data as of: 08/25/2015. This is not a column in excel. It is like a description of data in excel.
In my SSIS Data Flow Task, I have a query that retrieves data based on a couple of date parameters. Is there a way we can pass/use the Variables defined in the SSIS package in the query ?
(I am assigning values to those variables from C# code)
The query should look like this:
select ordernumber, customerid from salesorder
where statecode=3 and datefulfilled between @variable1 and @variable2
I am using the SharePoint adapters from Codeplex that allow me to use SharePoint source and destination tasks in SSIS for SQL Server 2008 and SharePoint 2010. I am able to pull the data from the SQL Server and insert it into the SharePoint List.
However, I prefer to just have fresh data every time, so I'd like to add a step to delete all the items in the list before inserting the new ones. Is there a way I can configure the SharePoint SSIS destination task to clear all the items before I insert new ones?
Using SSIS 2012 (within Visual Studio) on Windows 7.
Before allowing my Data Flow task to fire, I'd like to check the target table (OLE DB Destination) for a specific date value in a specific field. I've seen how the Lookup Task is commonly used to check for dupes before inserting, but I'm not able to use that method because the data value I want to search the table for is contained in a Global Variable (let's say "MyVariableDate").
Is there any way to check for any records in a target table where Date1 = MyVariableDate (i.e. scanning the entire table for any occurrence of MyVariableDate in the Date1 field)?
I have created an event that contains a Data flow tasks with OLE DB source & Excel Destination.
This event is executed/triggered based on an execute SQL task failure in the control flow Sequence container.
However, when I execute the Data Flow task of the Event Handler, it runs successfully but fails when I execute the whole package.
I get the below error message:
[OLE DB Source [21]] Error: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER. The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "TK463DW" failed with error code 0xC0202009. There may be error messages posted before this with more information on why the AcquireConnection method call failed.
I have tried setting the property 'DelayValidation' to 'True' on all the Control Flow and Data Flow tasks on the package and on the Event Handler, but still I could not fix this.Not sure What I am missing.
Hi,
I need to export data from a table of SQL server 2000 database, into an Excel 2000 sheet. I tried following query from the sql query analyzer
Code SnippetSELECT * INTO [Excel 4.0;Database=F:ew.xls].[sheet1] FROM tab1
It gave me following error
Code SnippetServer: Msg 2760, Level 16, State 1, Line 1
Specified owner name 'Excel 4.0;Database=F:ew.xls' either does not exist or you do not have permission to use it.
The F:ew.xls file is present and it has no additional security applied, hence I think it should be writable.
Please tell me where am I doing wrong.
I don't know if this is the correct news group or not. Let me know if I have to post to some other news group.
