Integration Services :: Generate Dynamic Excel Worksheets With Data In SSIS?
Sep 4, 2015
I want to export the data into multiple sheets with same template, all the worksheets have to split dynamically with specific Sheet Name and template also copied to all other sheets
For Example:
Sheet Name: Guru
Name Age
Guru 24
Sheet Name: Johnson
I need to export around 1 million records to excel. As we know that there is a limit of approx 65,000 rows in one worksheet so the exporting functionality is failing. One way is that I should be able to configure the Reporting Service in such a way so that once 65,000 records gets populated in the first worksheet, then the rest 35,000 records gets popultaed in the second worksheet.
I am not able to find out how this can be achieved in Reporting Services. Please help me in this.
I have excel column with numeric and special character values , when I take that into SQL table using SSIS, the special character values enter as null value. the example column values are given bellow
1 2 2/1 1/2 1/2 means 1 or 2 ,
how can I read this values exactly into SQL table?
I have a scenario, need to create SQL server Tables dynamically.
I Have multiple xml data file on a particular location, and want to load those XML data into sql server tables, but he metadata of each xml data files are not same.
Hence the approach is that,
1. Pick first file from that location 2. Create a table according to that xml data file metada 3. load data on newly created table. 4. Pickup the next xml data files. 5. loop through, till the XML data files are exists on that location.
I have package which pulls data from db table and creates a excel file extract. The flow is like this - A excel file template sits in the input folder folder for processing .The package starts by dropping excel sheet in the excel(which is clearing any data and columns available) once that is done it has script task which creates a new columns for the sheet and gives a sheet name as well .Then a execute sql task runs and pumps data into a table which serves as a source for the excel extract process .The excel extract process involves pulling data from the table and doing data conversion before it moves it into the oledb destination (excel file on file server). When I run the package I go and see that data is pushed down . I see top rows say 100 are empty and data appears after say 100 rows .
I tried deleting excel file and replacing with new one empty with columns and sheet name only but still it doesnt work?I am trying to understand what is making ssis behave like this and what can I do overcome the problem ?I read on google that we need to bring in file system task will move a template to working directory which is input folder but I dont want it to incorporate that logic as we need to push this package to production ASAP with very minimal change.
I'm using SSIS 2005 Enterprise edition, I'm creating a package that reads an excel (xls) file using the "excel source" component, and it dumps the data into an OLEDB destination (a sql server). When I drag the excel source component and create the excel connection to my file the component automatically reads the columns and their datatypes.
The problem is that I have a column which has numeric data and the package uploads as NULL every number that starts with a zero. (note: in excel this column is formatted as "text", despite it has only numbers, because it's the only way excel maintains the left sided zeros).
So I checked the data types by right clicking the excel source component -> show advanced editor and my surprise is that this column's data type is detected as double-precision float, and it doesn't let me change it. URL... but it only works when the first row of data has a number beginning with zero on this column. How to get the data imported correctly?
I have an excel sheet containing one column (ID_NO) with 400K rows. I have a database from where I have to fetch some other columns from a Netezza database. Initially I tried hardcoding all the 400K rows in the query that I wrote using filter WHERE ID IN ('1212','2334'). But after pasting all the 400K rows the query is running indefinitely.
I have imported all the ID in a SQL table (MY_LIST table). I used a DFT, and selected ODBC source, and selected my netezza server. Then in the 'Data access mode' I selected the SQL command from the dropdown.I pasted the same query that I wrote in Netezza. Is there any way to pull only for those records that I have pulled in my SQL table (MY_LIST) ?
I am loading data using SSIS 2008 from a table in SQL Server 2008 DB to excel 97 sheet pre-defined with column headers. All the columns in excel is has 'Text' format property and the columns in the SQL Server table are defined as nVarchar. One of the columns has trailing spaces in few rows in DB but after exporting to excel 97, the spaces are gone. We need to retain the whitespaces in the column values. How can we do that.
I am trying to write a SSIS package to auto generate a SSRS PDF. I have tried several threads on the net but all seem to require a web service.I am using VS2012 and SQL2014..The report accepts one parameter @Licence
I have a requirement, want to generate the PDF report from source data sql table records through SSIS package without using the SSRS tool. i came to know calling this SSRS report generate the PDF report. but my case without using the SSRS tool, needs to prepare the PDF report.
I have created a report using SSRS 2012. To create a pdf report, I use SSIS 2008. When I run debugging in SSIS, the pdf report is generated correctly.
But when I run the SSIS as a job in SQL 2012, the pdf report is generated with o bytes. When I tried to open it with Adobe, there is error, something like - Adobe Reader could not open PPAA.pdf because it is either not supported file type or because the file has been damaged.
We have a requirement to produce adhoc Excel reports with a standardized header page with a disclaimer attached. We want to be able to feed in a SQL Statement, or a table with the resultset from a SQL Statement and have SSIS populate an existing blank Excel workbook, which the disclaimer attached. The use of xp_cmdshell is not an option.I've spent a lot of time looking for solutions on the web and it seems though its not possible - although many articles are 3-5 years old. Before I throw in the towel, I just wanted to get feedback from this group if it still is not possible in the latest versions of SQLServer and SSIS, or to ask if there are any other 3rd party solutions that can do this today.
Trying to upload excel in server where excel is not installed. BIDs was there in the server, when i am trying to craete Excel source I am not able.what the workround for this.. How to upload excel without excel installed on the server.
We have 10 sheets in Excel File and 10 sheet contains errror data. How to load 9 sheets data in to 1 destination and error data in to other destination?
I can set almost all properties of FTP task and FTP connection manager using expressions option. In that option, I don't see that I can set FTP PASSWORD using a variable. How do I set the password dynamically?
I have some source files is there today it will have 4 columns..Tomorrow it will have 10 columns...my package is dynamically load the data to destination table..How we have do it in Using script task...
We'll be using 2014 enterprise to populate some excel spreadsheets. We may not have the option of using ssrs so here is the question.
The excel spreadsheets have some pretty fancy heading structures, multiple tabs and in a few cases graphs that i'm sure are dependent on data sitting somewhere in the spreadsheet. The heading have variable info in them (eg FYxx where xx is a parameterized fiscal year, month names etc). Sometimes those headings have sub headings (with variable info) and so on.
Generally speaking how (if at all) do folks deal with this kind of excel challenge when limited to using ssis? I don't know if templates are going to be a good idea. I don't know if i'll be looking at a fair amount of c# etc code behind the scenes. I can be more specific depending on the feedback.
This is part of a conversion from 2 of the larger BI and statistical tools out there to the MS sql stack. Obviously with some shortcuts that we may wish we didn't take.
I have created SSIS package where it generates .txt output file. But my client added new requirement that generated .txt has to be convert into excel or CSV (Depends on client selection on portal where it stores values in table to know in which format they requires).
I am trying to dynamically change my initial catalog in a SSIS project. Each day I get a snapshot of data from the production server. I am performing ETL on that database and loading it into my warehouse. I am trying to put something together so that each day I get the latest snapshot and if its newer then my most recent one I pass that new catalog into the connection manager. I can already run the sql script to compare the two catalogs but I can't populate the connection manager.
While handling errors in a flat file I am routing the rows into the excel sheet to business for further processing. I need to send a mail attaching the excel sheet which contains the errored-out/In-Complete definitons. The problem is I need to send a mail if and only if there is at least one row in Excel sheet. How Can I count the rows exist in excel sheet? and send the rowcount to a variable and use that value of a variable to send a mail?
Using excel connection to load data to SQL Server When I try doing this character data is loading as nulls, I have tried by putting IMEX=1 property in connection string and removing IMEX=1 property from connection string , in both cases it is showing nulls, in the data viewer which i have placed after Excel source. I have also tried using the OPENROWSET which for some reason does not create an adhoc connection. I also tried changing the Datatypes in the advanced editor which again throws error. For some reason SSIS excel connection reads only the first 8 rows and decides a datatype and rest showup NULL.
I have an SSIS package that is creating an Excel worksheet and writing data to it. It works fine when i run it inside Visual Studio. But when it runs as a scheduled job it writes the header and no data. I turned on logging and the log even says it is writing the 10,456 rows that it should be.
But they are not showing up in the Excel document. The job is setup as 32 bit and writing to Excel 97-2003. The job ends normally and does not generate any type of messages that are out of the ordinary. This is running on SQL Server 2008r2.
I have a SSIS package which is reading from an Excel file.
The Excel is created from a report from another system and sometimes the date of birth formats as a Date and sometimes as string.
I've added a data viewer so I can see how the columns are read as soon as SSIS reads the file.
When the cell in Excel is set as text its read correctly - I can then convert to a date as necessary
When the cell in Excel is set as date its read in US format! i.e. if it was 01/13/2014 in excel its read as 13/01/2014
How can I get round this? Its not an option to manually force the column to be text once exported from the system as my package picks this up automatically.
I have tried
-Regedit set typeguessrows = 0 -IMEX = 1 in connection string -Set LocaleID = UK in the data flow task to read from Excel
We have a 2014 SQL Server. I have a SSIS package written in VS 2008 where I am simply importing an .xlsx into an existing table via a mapped drive. I have it working on my development machine using the 2007 Access 32 bit driver from [URL]..... Our DBA is trying to schedule the package to execute on a schedule job on the 2014 server and we received an error. He installed the 32 bit driver and still getting the error. I set the package to run in 32 bit and we are still getting the error.

I used the below code to read excel files in SSIS 2008R2 script component and it is working fine but when i copied it in Script Task of SSIS 2012, the code doesnt work. I have define one variable
Var_ExcelFileName and stored location of excel file.
/* Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services Script Component * Write scripts using Microsoft Visual C# 2008. * ScriptMain is the entry point class of the script.*/
using System; using System.Data; using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.Wrapper; using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper;

I am getting errors in the below lines:
using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Pipeline.Wrapper; using Microsoft.SqlServer.Dts.Runtime.Wrapper;
I have to transform 500 columns from an excel sheet to Sql Server. In Excel 2k3 , I can read a max of 256 columns only.If I use Excel 2k7, then SSIS 2k5 excel source does not support excel 2k7. If I use ole db source then again it can read a max of 256 columns.how can we read 500 columns in excel sheet (Around 10000 rows) efficiently using SSIS 2k5.
I have 2 different excel files file1 and file2. file1 should be loaded to table1 and file2 should be loaded to table2. Both of the files will have 1 sheet inside. Do I need to create separate excel source for file1 and file2? I mean file1 in one excel source and that will be connecting to 1 execute sql task. file2 in other excel source and that will be connecting to another execute sql task. Is this the way I should proceed or is there any looping should be done? I need to schedule this activity to run every week. So, I'll get new files every week with the same file names and sheet names. Do I need to consider anything for this requirement also?
I'm planning to do truncate and reload not an incremental load.
I’ve been trying for a while now (won’t say how long), to get BIDS to read a very simple Excel file.
I’m talking SIMPLE!! No matter what I don, SSIS keeps throwing an error, and of course it doesn’t say what the error is, so I can’t really debug it.
I’ve tried this at least 20x with flat files, and it works perfect each time. I’ve done Data Conversions, Sorting, Union All, and several other Transformations; all work perfect.
Trying to used Excel as a data source, is proving to be a mind numbing experience. Of over 20 different attempts, it hasn’t worked even once. I can make it as simple as you can possibly imagine, and SSIS, refuses to even perform the first step (I’m not even trying to create a table in SQL Server anymore).
I have the Excel file path (very simple)
I have the Excel version (very simple)
I have the Connection Manager (very simple)
I have the Sheet name (very simple)
All I can do is see a preview of the Excel sheet before the process runs. As soon as I het F5, I get an instant error, for no reason whatsoever, and no debugging options, whatsoever.
