I need getting the HH:MM:SS format when we do datepart.
For example, am using a variable to capture the time taken to execute the package using Start and End time stamps captured.
I would like to get the HH:MM:SS format of the datediff.
I have a SSIS package which is reading from an Excel file.
The Excel is created from a report from another system and sometimes the date of birth formats as a Date and sometimes as string.
I've added a data viewer so I can see how the columns are read as soon as SSIS reads the file.
When the cell in Excel is set as text its read correctly - I can then convert to a date as necessary
When the cell in Excel is set as date its read in US format! i.e. if it was 01/13/2014 in excel its read as 13/01/2014
How can I get round this? Its not an option to manually force the column to be text once exported from the system as my package picks this up automatically.
I have tried
-Regedit set typeguessrows = 0
-IMEX = 1 in connection string
-Set LocaleID = UK in the data flow task to read from Excel
We are using MSBuild with a custom activity to build and deploy ISPACs from SSDT BI 2012. We are building the ISPAC by calling the invoke process activity which inturn performs a build of the solution using devenv.exe.
All of this is working fine until we have solutions/ projects (dtproj) with complex names. We have a solution named Company.Project.SSIS.Package.sln when we do a build it creates an ISPAC as expected however it is named incorrectly - Company.Project.ispac.
When we subsequently deploy the ISPAC, it creates a project in the catalog called Company.Project.SSIS again this is wrong. This also happend if i perform a manual build in VS2012.
The issue is, the automated deployment of the ISPAC fails as it is looking for a file with a different name. Is there a way of changing these settings?
I am using Sql Server 2012. I have a table which has a field as Datetime (it is a table in Dynamics CRM 2011 so I have no control of the data type). Say this field is called BisStartDate. If I run this query in management studio.
select
BisStartDate, BisStartDateutc
from myTable
where _bisnumber=10375
I will get:
BisStartDate BisStartDateutc
2014-07-29 00:00:00.000 2014-07-29 05:00:00.000
*in CRM, datetime is saved in 2 fields, one is the current time, the other one is the utc time.
You can see the offset between the datetime and utc is 5 hours.
However when the same statement was running inside a SSIS package on the server, the result returned is:
BisStartDate BisStartDateutc
2014-07-28 23:00:00.0000000 2014-07-29 05:00:00.000
And if I do
datediff(MINUTE,CRMAF_BisSection.ttc_section_startdatetimeutc,CRMAF_BisSection.ttc_section_startdatetime)
I will get -5 if I run it in ManagementStudio and -6 is running on server package(running inside VisualStudio will be -5, same as running a query in ManagementStudio).
I think when the record was saved, “date” is 5 hours offset to UTC time but now the system use the current utc offset which is 6 hours. I just want to use the BisStartDate as it is. How do I let the SSIS turn off the conversion.
The same datatime is saved in another system then we compare them to check the data entry. Now because of this one hour difference, sometime the Day will be different.
What is the difference between dtexec and ISServerExec? Does ISServerExec ultimately use dtexec to run an SSIS package? Should I expect the same behavior for a package if I run it from the command line using dtexec with the /ISServer switch as I would get running it manually from the Integration Services Catolog folder in SSMS?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI am not able to start Integration services on my windows 2003 machine. I get the below error. The request failed or the service did not respond in a timely fashion. Consult the event log or application error log for details. I am a newbee for MS SQLSERVER. I did not see any errors in the event log. I checked the sqlserver log and found the below message. I am not sure if this could be related. The SQL network Interface library could not register service principal name (SPN) for the SQL service error: 0x2098. This machine is clustered and integration services seems to work without issues on the first node.
View 7 Replies View RelatedRunning MS SQL 2005 SP1 on Windows 2003 Server SP1 (IA32). Upon rebooting, I get an error that this service failed to start, and when I attempt to start manually, I get the same error:
Could not start the SQL Server Integration Services service on the Local Computer.
Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.
Any ideas?

after installing sp1 for sql server 2005 the sql server integration services did not start. and i can`t start them manually. the installation succeeded without problems (both sql server and sp1)
the only problem was with installing sql server 2005. in the sql server configurations manager the following protocols were disabled:
- named pipes
- tcp/ip
- via
- shared memory was enabled
is this a problem. because in the "how to verify installation of sql server" is written, that tcp/ip has to be enabled. however i can manually enable it.
i can`t start the sql server integration services manually. so what can i do? i also tried reinstall sql server but i do get the same error.
hope somebody can help me!
Is there any differene between on-error event handler and precedence constrain failure? I have created a package and if a data flow task(flat file to DB) fails, the file has to be moved to archive folder. How I have accomplished this is Dataflow task->precedence constrain failed(red arrow)->execute process task to move the file to error folder and it worked,The same execute process task( to move the file to error folder) doesnot work when I move this to on-error event handler. Also, for the same file the on-error event is getting triggered multiple times.

We encountered an error the other day that was causing us major head-aches trying to resolve.
Error: 1053 -- Could not start the SQL Server Integration Services service
In addition to SSIS not starting up, we had errors trying to launch Management Studio.
The above errors started happening after we deployed a small release that included editing the machine.config file.
To make a long story short, make sure the machine.config file is well formatted and is not missing any double quotes (") or < /> .
Hopefully this information can help someone out.
I'm using SQL Server 2008 R2 BIDS to accomplish this.

I have a generic SSIS package which simply sends out email notifications using SMTP email task (this package is within its own project, and has project level input parameters).
I need to be able to call this package in the Event handler section of every package (numbering in about less than 60) that we have. These packages are within their own respective projects.
I thought I could use the "execute package task", but it turns out , using this, I cannot call a package that is part of some other project. I also cannot call a package that is stored in the CATALOG. Is there any way I can do this ?

Can anyone help regarding the SQL server integration Services(SSIS), ETL
We have requirement like this:
We have Live Database( LIVE_DB ) and Reports Database (REP_DB)
I want to trasfer the few tables data from LIVE_DB into the REP_DB for end of the day using SSIS
If any new records are added, updated or deleted in LIVE_DB, these should reflect in the REP_DB, Our requirement is not to delete the old data, we should append or delete or insert the new transaction data in REP_DB.

how do I get to the GUI where I can design ETL packages?
We'll be using 2014 enterprise to populate some excel spreadsheets. We may not have the option of using ssrs so here is the question.
The excel spreadsheets have some pretty fancy heading structures, multiple tabs and in a few cases graphs that i'm sure are dependent on data sitting somewhere in the spreadsheet. The heading have variable info in them (eg FYxx where xx is a parameterized fiscal year, month names etc). Sometimes those headings have sub headings (with variable info) and so on.
Generally speaking how (if at all) do folks deal with this kind of excel challenge when limited to using ssis? I don't know if templates are going to be a good idea. I don't know if i'll be looking at a fair amount of c# etc code behind the scenes. I can be more specific depending on the feedback.
This is part of a conversion from 2 of the larger BI and statistical tools out there to the MS sql stack. Obviously with some shortcuts that we may wish we didn't take.
we have a table with xml column. This column has a large xml data . I am trying to use ssis to import xml from sql column (table a) to destination (another table).
steps which i did in ssis:
1. execute sql task:
fetch the xml column by query and store "full result set" into an object variable.
2. foreach loop:
select Ado enumerator option and select variable which has reset set of execute sql task. In variable mapping selected a new variable of type string.
when I run package I get below error:
"Error: ForEach Variable Mapping number 1 to variable "User::variable" cannot be applied".
Have Visual Studio 2008 R2 with SP 2 installed. Due to a merger we now have a MySQL database that we need to update from SSIS. Everything works except for the table insert or update. Would upgrading to SP 3 or SP 4 maybe useful with that?
We have installed the latest driver from MySQL. Have tried the ADO.Net and ODBC drivers with similar results when we try to update the database.
I have a ETL ( SSIS ) Process in which i am loading around 150 tables in each run. ( Truncate and Insert ). I have four packages each from different sources. Like these i have 30 rules. And I have to shop the error msg if the validation fails like "Mandatory feild is missing".

I'm unable to find a solution to this truncation error on google.This happens only on one field which has comments. The offending Excel row/column has text that was entered in two lines i.e they entered the data and pressed "enter" and wrote a new line in the same row.Im using an Excel file source in SSIS and an OLEDB Destination (SQL Server) but one column keeps erroring out and I have tried to do the following:
1) Change output column width in advanced editor (still errors)
2) Data conversion tool between the source and destination (still errors)
