Jun 3, 2015I have several regular reports that are produced by different offices that I need to import the data from. The challenge lies in the fact that the reports are not simply columns of data. Some cells are labels, others contain data, and some contain both. Also, the formatting of the reports isn't strictly uniform from office to office. Is it possible to read this kind of sheet? Excel data sources seem to just define everything in a column as data, and that doesn't work for me. Is there an alternative, or perhaps a more manual way of defining what cells contain data?

Nov 2, 2015We have a 2014 SQL Server. I have a SSIS package written in VS 2008 where I am simply importing an .xlsx into an existing table via a mapped drive. I have it working on my development machine using the 2007 Access 32 bit driver from [URL]..... Our DBA is trying to schedule the package to execute on a schedule job on the 2014 server and we received an error. He installed the 32 bit driver and still getting the error. I set the package to run in 32 bit and we are still getting the error.

Jul 16, 2015I am new to SSIS and C#. In SQL Server 2008 I am importing data from a .csv file. Now I have the columns dynamic. They can be around 22 columns (some times more or less). I created a staging table with 25 columns and import data into it. In essence each flat file that I import has different number of columns. They are all properly formatted only. My task is to import all the rows from a .csv flat file including the headers. I want to put this in a job so I can import multiple files into the table daily.
So inside a for each loop I have a data flow task within which I have a script component. I came up(research online) with the C# code below but I get error:Index was outside the bounds of the array.I tried to find the cause using MessageBox and I found it is reading the first line and the index is going outside the bounds of the array after the first line.

Integration Services :: Using SSIS To Populate Excel
Sep 25, 2015We'll be using 2014 enterprise to populate some excel spreadsheets. We may not have the option of using ssrs so here is the question.
The excel spreadsheets have some pretty fancy heading structures, multiple tabs and in a few cases graphs that i'm sure are dependent on data sitting somewhere in the spreadsheet. The heading have variable info in them (eg FYxx where xx is a parameterized fiscal year, month names etc). Sometimes those headings have sub headings (with variable info) and so on.
Generally speaking how (if at all) do folks deal with this kind of excel challenge when limited to using ssis? I don't know if templates are going to be a good idea. I don't know if i'll be looking at a fair amount of c# etc code behind the scenes. I can be more specific depending on the feedback.
This is part of a conversion from 2 of the larger BI and statistical tools out there to the MS sql stack. Obviously with some shortcuts that we may wish we didn't take.

I have an excel file that both machines can open (ext .xlsx) with 64 bit excel 2010 on the same share location.On my 2008 r2 installation, when I create a dft then go thru adding an excel source and let ssis create a conn mgr, ssis can see the one and only tab in the source's "name of excel sheet" drop down.On my 2014 installation, I see a message "no tables or views could be loaded" in the drop down after going thru the same steps. I don't know if it matters in 2014 but I set 32 bit mode on both.Am I missing some sort of addin on my ssis 2014 install? I cant say for certain what version of excel created this file.

Using excel connection to load data to SQL Server When I try doing this character data is loading as nulls, I have tried by putting IMEX=1 property in connection string and removing IMEX=1 property from connection string , in both cases it is showing nulls, in the data viewer which i have placed after Excel source. I have also tried using the OPENROWSET which for some reason does not create an adhoc connection. I also tried changing the Datatypes in the advanced editor which again throws error. For some reason SSIS excel connection reads only the first 8 rows and decides a datatype and rest showup NULL.

Jul 17, 2015I have an SSIS package that is creating an Excel worksheet and writing data to it. It works fine when i run it inside Visual Studio. But when it runs as a scheduled job it writes the header and no data. I turned on logging and the log even says it is writing the 10,456 rows that it should be.
But they are not showing up in the Excel document. The job is setup as 32 bit and writing to Excel 97-2003. The job ends normally and does not generate any type of messages that are out of the ordinary. This is running on SQL Server 2008r2.

Oct 3, 2013I have to import a number of excel spreadsheets. I'm using the classic Foreach Loop inside another Foreach loop approach. The outside loop (Foreach File Enumerator) cycles through the Excel files, while the inside loop (Foreach ADO.NET Schema Rowset Enumerator - ExcelSchema - Tables) to cycle through the individual Excel sheets in each file.
Nothing special there; however, for some reason these excel files have some "phantom" tabs that should not be imported. I call them phanton because they show up as an importable tab in a SSSIS import wizard but actually are not listed in the excel file structure (no, they are not hidden tabs, I checked).
My idea is to use a constraint to NOT import those phanton tabs. The name convention should allow me to do that because the normal tabs have the name 'AAAAAAyyyymmdd$' and the phantom tabs show up as 'AAAAAAyyyymmdd$'_xlnm#_FilterDatabase (the line below was captured from the Local Variable window and show one of the phantom tabs name).

I tried using Len (@[User::WorksheetName]) == 17, which corresponds to the length of the normal tabs name ('AAAAAAyyyymmdd$'). However, it does not work. For some reason the portion of the phantom tab name after the ending single quote (_xlnm#_FilterDatabase) appears to be ignored.
I tested with a number of different expressions, including reversing the variable, to no avail. It seems that internally just the standard name between quotes is what the constraint sees.
