Integration Services :: Load Incremental Data Into Fact Table When Source Table Not Have Timestamp And Unique Key
Sep 24, 2015I have a transaction table having about 40 crore rows in source. It don't have timestamp and unique key columns. It have only Bill_month and Bill_Year columns. Actually for loading this table into staging I have added a new datetime column by adding default bill_date as 01. Then
* First we delete last 3 month data from staging tables.
* Get last 3 months data from source table.
* Load that 3 months data from source to staging table.
We do this because we only get update for last three months data. Now I have to include this transaction table as Fact table in DW. What will be the best practice for loading the fact table by picking data form staging table. Also we have to look up with dimensions for Foreign Keys.
* Should I implement the same method of deleting last 3 months records and loading them again.

They also expect files to be delivered there to.So at the minute I have an SSIS package (SQL2012 ) which I use to generate some files but then have to manually import the files to the S3 bucket as well as export others.Now Mike Yin ( For SQL2008R2 ) mentioned that you need to obtain PostgreSQL ODBC driver so that you can use the .Net ProvidersOdbc Data Provider for ADO.NET Source component to connect to the Amazon cloud storage. After that, you can use a OLE DB Destination to load the data to SQL Server database.
Installed both 32 and 64bit 9.03. New connection Manager ADO.NET - New then drop the provider down to ODBC.Dataprovider.Then what ? Do I put the S3 bucket address within the use connection string ? Is there and example ? Why do I need the PostgreSQL ODBC as Im not connecting to a database just a S3 Bucket?

- XML file is loaded into DW_EXTERN, and then moved to the archive with a time stamp suffix.
--I Know how to move this to Archive folder but i need to move with today's (execution)date, how to do this?
- Loading should be done with usual logging using batches etc.

- We will receive one xml file per day containíng all changes since the previous file. The file is date stamped, showing the period of time the file contains.
- Initially we will receive 700 files (2 years of data). The package must support more than one file in the input queue, and able to load them in the correct order.
-- using for each loop to loop thru all files ?As per my knowledge files will sorted and stored in a folder with date modified so, those will get executed in that order, right?
- The package must be able to reload a period. Delete all future records compared to the current file before loading the file.

I am attempting to perform an incremental load, inserting new rows and updating existing rows. I am using a lookup and everything works fine, except when it is the first load of the destination table. As there are no records in the table at all, the lookup fails. I thought of using a rowcount - if the count variable is zero load everything from temporary table to load table, otherwise perform lookup and incremental load.
Can anyone help?

Oct 19, 2006We are in the process of converting our existing incremental loads from DTS to SSIS.
Currently we get all the data for the past month into temp tables in the warehouse, compare with key fields add the new rows and update changed rows. All this is done using Execute SQL task.
Is there a better way to implement the incremental logic using SSIS any new objects that be used to avoid too much SQL codes? Performance is very important and we do a lot of aggregation after the load for the reports to run faster so that we can meet customer SLA's.
We have around 20 tables that needs to be loaded 4 have large amount of data between 20 and 40 million rows out of which we will be brining over around 100 thousand during each incremental run. The other tables have less than 100,000 rows so does not hurt truncating and reloading the entire table.
Any assistance is appreciated.

SSIS Incremental Load - How Do You Do It?

Hi everyone. I'm trying to figure out how to run an incremental load into a Staging table.
At this point I'm not trying to Conditional Split it between "New" and "Changed" records... just the load.
The logic in my head says that after each load, you can take the most recent "modified" date/time and store that in an incremental load table. That way, next time you run an incremental load, you just have to look up that "modified" date/time, and only load the source records with a "modified" date/time later than the record in your incremental load table. Does that plan sound feasible?
I think so far my problem is that my source is on an ADO.NET connection, and my incremental load table is on my SQL Server. So when I do my load from the ADO.NET database, I cannot read the data from the incremental load table.
Is my logic flawed?
Any help would be appreciated.

Sep 22, 2015I am having difficulties loading data from a flat file to a SQL Database. I am able to load some data but the rest gets kicked out for the following reasons:
1 – The field is varchar 50 and I would like to convert it to a date field
2 – The field contain periods (.) (Only 1 period in each row)
3 – The field contain blanks (NULLS)
How do I create a derived column that will bypass blanks (Nulls) and remove periods (.) in each row then convert column to a date field in SSIS? Looking for steps to create a derived date column using SSIS (derived task); convert it to a date column (09-19-2015); use functions to redirect the nulls and possibly remove the period (.)?

Jul 29, 2015I have 2 different excel files file1 and file2. file1 should be loaded to table1 and file2 should be loaded to table2. Both of the files will have 1 sheet inside. Do I need to create separate excel source for file1 and file2? I mean file1 in one excel source and that will be connecting to 1 execute sql task. file2 in other excel source and that will be connecting to another execute sql task. Is this the way I should proceed or is there any looping should be done? I need to schedule this activity to run every week. So, I'll get new files every week with the same file names and sheet names. Do I need to consider anything for this requirement also?
I'm planning to do truncate and reload not an incremental load.

Jun 17, 2015I have a file that will be produced both Monthly and Quarterly. The file name will be the same except for the Month/Quarter in the name:
Monthly file - Inforce Download - APR 2015.txt, Inforce Download - MAY 2015.txt, etc...
Quarterly file - Inforce Download - Q1 2015.txt, Inforce Download - Q2 2015.txt, etc...
The SSIS package will need to accomplish the following:
1. The package will somehow need to know what the file name should be based on the last file processed. So for example if we just loaded the Jan 2015 file, the next monthly file to drop should be the Feb 2015 file. For the quarterly files, it should be Q1 2015, then Q2 2015, etc...
2. Based on the file (Monthly or Quarterly), the package needs to somehow split and process one way for Monthly and another way for Quarterly.

Apr 15, 2015I am trying to run a SSIS Package from SQL Server BI Studio. I receive the error "The package failed to load due to error 0xC0011008". SQL Server 2008 R2 installed (32bit Win 7), along with Integration Services. The Package connects to a SQL Server DB.
Here is the full error taken from consol in BI Studio:

I tried using the "IMEX=1" mentioned in some of the online resources but it didn't work.
