But SQL Table Last 39 Records Dumped as NULL whichever is Alphanumeric. Why? Dynamically How Can I import without doing Text to column in Excel on that column ?
I have ssis package where I have excel connection manager with expression pointing to a variable which has path for location and name of excel spreadsheet to be create each with date on the name.ExcelFilePath points to variable for shared location where excel file will be saved.I have File system task for copying template excel file to destination location with date in file name.I drag and drop excel destination. Pointed to excel connection manager. Under data access mode, I have select table and view. When I try to select name of excel sheet, it says, no tables or views could be loaded. I should be able to see sheetname there so that I can map column. I only have option to create new spreadsheet. I want to use template to load data in excel file. I dont want to create new sheet. It was working before. But I opened the ssis package and its broken. I was able to see spreadsheet name before but I dont see it now even though I have not made any change to package. XCEL 12.0 XML;HDR=NO";
I am following the SSIS overview video- URL...I have a flat file that i want to import the contents onto a SQL database.I created a Dataflow task, source file and oledb destination.I am getting the folliwung error -"column "A" cannot convert between unicode and non-unicode string data types".in the origin file the data type is coming as string[DT_STR] and in the destination object it is coming as "Unicode string [DT_WSTR]"I used a data conversion object in between, dosent works very well
I am developing a SSIS package with VS2013 to send data from SQL Server 2014 to an Excel Destination. But in the SSIS package, from the excel destination advanced editor, when I set the format of the excel destination external columns to double precision float DT_R8, it is returned to DT_WSTR automatically.Due to that, data sent to Excel are not processed as numeric but as text and formatted as such. I need the column to be created as numeric.
IS that possible to get teh output of a execute sql task to excel destination.I have query which will comapre the data difference between two databses. It will comapre all tables in both databses and list out the difference in data by each table. I need to run this query using SSIS and need to get the output to a excel sheet...I have used the data flow task to run this query but my query is giving some error when used with data flow task. So i have used excecute sql task and need to write teh out put to a excel sheet.
I am loading data using SSIS 2008 from a table in SQL Server 2008 DB to excel 97 sheet pre-defined with column headers. All the columns in excel is has 'Text' format property and the columns in the SQL Server table are defined as nVarchar. One of the columns has trailing spaces in few rows in DB but after exporting to excel 97, the spaces are gone. We need to retain the whitespaces in the column values. How can we do that.
Hi, I have a question regarding the Integration Services Data Types.
From http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141036(d-printer).aspx, I found a table that shows me the Mapping of Integration Services Data Types to Database Data Types.
For example, how the DT_BOOL Data Type maps to bit for SQL Server.
In this case, I am okay, as I know exactly what the mapping is, however, for some of the datatypes, I do not.
Here is an example. The DT_CY datatype maps to smallmoney and money ... how do I know which one to map to? For me, which one I map to does indeed matter because their representation is different.
DT_NUMERIC maps to decimal and numeric ... this one does not matter as much
DT_STR/DT_WSTR ... I need to know whether its char, varchar, ncahr, or nvarchar for padding purposes mostly.
Is there a way in-code to determine the maximum length of a Integration Services Data Type.
I need to determine based on the data type what the maximum length of a column is IN-CODE.
However, the column.Length property only gives me a length for DT_WSTR and DT_STR values. This is the only property that would seem to remotely give me the right answer.
I need to know the maximum lengths in columns for DT_BOOL, DT_CY, DT_I2, DT_I4, DT_I8, DT_NUMERIC, and DT_UI1. I can always hard-code these values into my program, but that makes no sense. There has to be some sort of way to determine what the maximum possible length of these values are.
For numeric values I could use the column.Precision value but that still leaves with with a lot of data types without a maximum length.
TABLE_NAME DESC CODE tab1 table1 A tab1 table1 B tab1 table1 C tab2 table2 D tab2 table2 E tab2 table2 G...
First column values are table names which are already exists in target database. Next two columns[Desc],[Code] data gets populate from CSV file to table.
In this scenario, how to load tab1 data into the same table in destination and so on.
Which way will be more standard to accomplish this task? If its a script task using C#, looking for clear script to identify a value changes in the first column.
Im reading in a CSV wiht double quote text delimiters. Data came from mySQL.
One column in mySql is text(65535) which is equivalent to varchar(max) as far as i understand.
This particular column can be blank, not null, just blank. If its blank i want to put in a value so i added a Derived column shape and added the following formula:
LEN(my_Column) < 1 ? "" : (DT_TEXT)my_Column
I get the below error from this expression:
The data types "DT_WSTR" and "DT_TEXT" are incompatible for the conditional operator. The operand types cannot be implicitly cast into compatible types for the conditional operation. To perform this operation, one or both operands need to be explicitly cast with a cast operator.
I have tried this without casting but still get an error. As I have configured the column in the flatfile connector as DT_TEXT, im not sure where its getting DT_STR from.
I am importing the values for field Atype from a .csv file as DT_STR, 13 and I need to fit them into a bit type CType field.
When I write the conditional split ((ISNULL(Atype)?"a":Atype)!=(ISNULL(CType)?"9":CType)) it says that the DT_WSTR and DT_I4 types are incompatible and that I need to explicitly cast with a cast operator. I haven't been able to make it work, how to explicitly cast?
I have a ssis package where I need to have excel destination. In the Excel file, I need to have few rows with some text and then populate data below the text. One the text is like this:
Data as of: 08/25/2015
if the report ran today, then Data as of will have Yesterday. So, if the user opens that excel file after a week, then user should see same Data as of: 08/25/2015. not today()-day(1).
I was planing to handle on excel side with today()-day(1). but it only works the day it was run. Then the excel file is open after few days later, then it might as Data as of: 08/30/2015 which is not true. It should still stay Data as of:
08/25/2015 on what ever date the excel file is open. The SSIS package runs only once.
How do I handle this so that whenever user open the file, they will see Data as of: 08/25/2015. This is not a column in excel. It is like a description of data in excel.
I have to load data into destination table, it has foreign key relation to two different tables called person table and organization table . sample data to be loaded is like
person table and organization table doesn't have null values in them, when I try to load this data none of them are laoded, I know either person_id or organization id having null value is failing foreign key constraint. But I want to transfer all the rows except the ones having both nulls. how this can be achieved ?
We are running 2014 enterprise. I noticed recently that my spreadsheet's column A, while not being used by user, doesn't show up in excel source preview. F1 is column B and so on.
We have a single generic SSIS package that is used to import several hundred iSeries tables into SQL. I am not looking to rewrite the process. But I am looking for ways to improve performance.
I have tried retain same connection, maximum insert commit size, lock table (tablock), removed some large columns, played with the log file location and size, and now I am working to tweak the defaultbuffermaxrows.
To describe the data flow task - there are six data flows tasks (dft) working at the same time. Each dtf has their own list of iSeries tables and columns and the corresponding generic SQL table names. Each dtf determines their list of tables based on the number of columns to import. So there is dft30 (iSeries table has 1-30 columns to import), dtf60 (iSeries table has 31-60 columns to import), etc. The destination SQL tables are generically called Staging30, Staging60, etc. Each column in the generic Staging tables are varchar(100). The dtfs are comprised of an OLE DB Source and an OLE DB Destination.
The OLE DB Source uses a SQL Command from Variable to build a SELECT statement. The OLE DB Source uses a connection manager that uses an IBM iAccess IBMDA400 provider. The SQL Command ends up looking like this for the dtf30. This specific example is importing from the iSeries table TDACLR and it only has two columns so it will be copied to the Staging30 table.
select TCREAS AS C1,TCDESC AS C2,0 AS C3,0 AS C4,0 AS C5,0 AS C6,0 AS C7,0 AS C8,0 AS C9,0 AS C10,0 AS C11,0 AS C12,0 AS C13,0 AS C14,0 AS C15,0 AS C16,0 AS C17,0 AS C18,0 AS C19,0 AS C20,0 AS C21,0 AS C22,0 AS C23,0 AS C24,0 AS C25,0 AS C26,0 AS C27,0 AS C28,0 AS C29,0 AS C30,''TDACLR'' AS T0 from Store01.TDACLR
The OLD DB Source variable value looks like the following, but I am not showing the full 30 columns
select cast(0 AS varchar(100)) AS C1,cast(0 AS varchar(100)) AS C2,cast(0 AS varchar(100)) AS C3,cast(0 AS varchar(100)) AS C4,cast(0 AS varchar(100)) AS C5, ... cast(0 AS varchar(100)) AS C30.
The OLE DB Destination uses OpenRowSet Using FastLoad From Variable. The insert into Staging30 ends up looking like this.
Of course we then copy and transform the Staging30 data to the SQL table that equals T0.
But back to defaultbuffermaxrows. Previously the dtfs had default values of 10000 for DefaultBufferMaxRows and 10485760 for DefaultBufferSize. I added a SQL task to SUM the iSeries column sizes, TCREAS and TCDESC in this example, and set the DefaultBufferMaxRows by dividing the SUM of the columns max_length into 10485760. But I did not see a performance improvement. Do you think that redefining the columns as varchar(100) for the insert is significant? Should I possibly SUM the actual number of columns (2) as 2x100 or SUM the 30x100?
In SSIS 2008R2, I have a dataflow with an xlsx source and the destination is a SQL Server 2008R2 table. The files are delivered from a location where staff members 'work with' the source files. The files are produced monthly.
The dataflow that contains the file breaks upon the attempt to process subsequent monthly xlsx files with a message similar to the following:
--************* [TNUQQ [16]] Warning: The external columns for component "TNUQQ" (16) are out of synchronization with the data source columns. The column "F12" needs to be added to the external columns. The external column "county_taxable_sale_amount" needs to be updated. The external column "city_taxable_sale_amount" needs to be updated. The external column "district_taxable_sale_amount" needs to be updated. The external column "QTY" (62) needs to be removed from the external columns. --*************
I've noticed that some columns in the file ship with no data. A column with no data can be typed as datetime one month, and then float another month. I've tried to load xlsx to raw to table, but that does not work around this issue.
I've tried to set 'ValidateExternalMetadata' to 'False' on the Excel source, but that does not work either. Aside from going back to the folks who ship the file to us, is there anything that can be done in SSIS to work around this issue, and still wind up with valid data?
I have multiple excel Files each has one sheet (With same column names) need to be loaded in a single table. I tried For each loop but couldn't succeed.
As I am new to SSIS. How to configure For each loop container for this...
I have a data in excel sheet which is to be loaded to sql table. The Column called seq_num has data with leading 0's these 0's are ignored while loading through ssis.
Example if seq_num is like 0099988 the sql table would get 99988, how to get the whole data with missing anything.
FYI: seq_num on excel source has a data type as dt_r8.
OLE DB source which calls a stored proc that returns a result set
data conversion
Excel destination I am in design mode in Business Intelligence studio. My excel destination (with an Excel Connection) shows no sheet name though I have an execute SQL task before the data flow to create the excel table called SHEET1. Needless to say, there are no output columns visible to do any mappings. I did go to the ExcelConnection to set the OpenRowset Property to SHEET1 but it seems to have no effect.
I can do the export in SQL Server Management studio and that works fine, but it is basic and does not meet my requirements. I have to customize the package to allow dynamic Excel filenames based on account names and have to split my result set into multiple excel sheets because excel 2003 has a max of 65536 rows per sheet. Also when I use the export wizard, I have the source as a table and eventually the source has to be a stored proc with input parms.
What am I missing or doing wrong? Thanks in advance
I have data rows ( 7 rows and hundreds of colums) obtained by using execute sql task and i placed the output in CSV. Then I also moved this data in csv into excel (first row of excel)using simple data flow task with flat file source(CSV) and excel destination connections. However, I need to push data into 3rd row of excel sheet(I need to write some description and titles in the first two rows) .I need to do this inorder to automate the process of producting the excel which has predefined pivot tables. I only need to update the excel sheet with raw data( 3rd row) which drives the pivot tables. How do I do this? How do i push into the third row instead of first?
I use a ole db to get data from database as source data, and use ole db destination to put data into excel, destination component connect to an excel file . and got below warning:
Warning 10 Validation warning. {9FA859ED-E4C7-4EA1-AE32-11F21CFDC23D} OLE DB Destination [136]: Truncation may occur due to inserting data from data flow column "sMessage" with a length of 2000 to database column "sMessage" with a length of 255. how to populate data length >255 to excel
Why does it take me 4 hours to set up an SSIS package that I can run from a SQL job to extract data from a SQL database to and Excel workbook. Shouldn't this be easy to do with 2 Microsoft products? Writing the query to extract the data takes 10 minutes, the rest of this process should take less than that.
I should be able to create a new job that runs my query (I can actually do that) and saves the data to an Excel workbook. Why can't I do that?
I have excel column with numeric and special character values , when I take that into SQL table using SSIS, the special character values enter as null value. the example column values are given bellow
1 2 2/1 1/2 1/2 means 1 or 2 ,
how can I read this values exactly into SQL table?
I need to export some data from sql server 2012 to a excel file(.xlsx). Truncation error happened when executing the exporting task, error happened in conversion from a column of type nvarchar(max) to a column of type LongText. Max length of the source column data is 4303, and documented length limit of LongText, which is a alias of type Memo, is 64,000. why this error happen?
