Integration Services :: Execute Process Task / Passing In Variables From SSIS To Powershell Script
May 15, 2015I am using SSIS 2012 to dynamically backup stored procedures on a list of Servers and Databases.Here are the steps in my package,
1. Execute SQL Task: Captures a result set (configured to save the data set in an Object variable) with all the Servers and Databases on which stored procedures exist.
2. For each loop that is configured to get each each row(server name @[User::Server_Name] and databases name @[User::DataBase_Name]) from the object variable (@[User::Connection_Strings])and pass it to a connection manager that has an expression for servername
and database name.
2a) Within the for each loop, i have an execute process task that is configured as
i) Executable: C:WindowsSystem32WindowsPowerShellv1.0powershell.exe
ii) Arguments: Configured this to fetch value from an expression. The expression i am using is,'C:batch - CopyPowerShell Scripts to Backup Stored ProceduresScriptOutSPs.ps1' -$Server_Name "+ @[User::Server_Name]+ " -$Database_Name "+ @[User::DataBase_Name]
Note: @[User::Server_Name] is the Servername from object variable and so is @[User::DataBase_Name] for database name . The execute task is to run a command line that triggers a powershell script with parameters. Here is the powershell script that i am using,

Sep 8, 2015I am having a challenge to pass the filename variable from SSIS Foreach Loop Container to SQL store procedure. I have an "Execute SQL Task" inside "Foreach Loop Container" which will receive the input filename parameter passed by the Foreach Loop Container. The store procedure command line is defined as "EXEC sp_mySQLStoreProcedure ?" within the "Execute SQL Task". The Foreach loop container will gather the filenames from File System then put it in the filename variable one by one. I would like to pass the filename variable as the input parameter to the sp_mySQLStoreProcedure in the "Execute SQL Task". How can I connect the variable and the store procedure so that it will process all the input files gathered by the Foreach Loop Container?

I've read the various posts and articles regarding this matter, but I seem to have problems getting to work:
In my control flow, I start by declaring a variable named "LastJobLedgerEntryID", to identify the records I need to add to the stage. From there I would like to use this variable in the source component in my dataflow, i.e.:
"SELECT [Entry No_],[Job No_],[Posting Date],[Document No_],[Type],[No_],[Description],[Quantity],[Direct Unit Cost],[Unit Cost],[Unit Price],[Chargeable],[Job Posting Group],[Global Dimension 1 Code],[Global Dimension 2 Code],[Work Type Code] FROM mytable WHERE [Entry No_] > " + @[User::LastJobLedgerEntryID]
But this fails? I should note that the variable LastJobLedgerEntryID is stored as a int32, and with the default value of 0
Could someone please help me with this?

Passing Variables From SQL Server To Reporting Services
Apr 6, 2007I have a report that I'm trying to automate. Basically I want to create a cursor of containing authors, I want to run my report for that particular author, save the report, and move to the next author in the cursor. I want to continue this process until there's no more authors left in the table. Is this possible with reporting services 2005? If so how do I communicate the value from my cursor, to my report?

Nov 12, 2015I have a Data Flow Task. I have one "OLE DB Source" which gets my data from a SQL Server Database. I have a second "OLE DB Source" which uses DATEADD to derive a date qualifier that I would like to use as a date qualifier in my subsequent Excel spreadsheet...opting to use SQL Server and DATEADD rather than messing around with VB syntax to get the previous week date qualifier.I am trying to connect the flow from one OLE DB Source to the next OLE DB Source and get the error..Component OLE DB Source has no inputs, or all of its inputs are already connected to other outputs. You may be able to edit the component to add new inputs to it.Can't I connect two completely different and independent SQL Server queries using "OLE DB Source" within my Data Flow?
Is there any way to store my derived date from my second "OLE DB Source" to a variable so that I cana then use that as my date qualifier within my Excel destination?

Jun 11, 2015I am using Script component and trying to import the Microsoft.WindowsAzure.Storage package. i used Nuget within my application and it installed successfully. However, I dont see it in the assemblies as well. Also, when i open the project next time, it is not there and i need to re-install or restore it.
Am I doing something wrong?

So that the 2nd sql task will be executed for each table. My query looks like SELECT DISTINCT b.EmailAddress FROM ? ......
Since I am passing the tablename as a variable (output from the 1st sql task), I get the following error:

Failed to execute the query 'SELECT DISTINCT b.EmailAddress FROM? AS a INNER... ':' Failed to extract
the result in a variable of type (DBTYPE_I4)'. Possible causes include the following: Problems with the query, not properly fixed ResultSet property, not properly set parameters or not properly established connection.

Jun 12, 2015I'm calling the SSIS packages through SQL agent job. The packages have variables defined with default values.The parent packages have no package configuration. The child packages have package configuration of ‘Parent Package variable’ type The variables are being passed from the job. The job calls the parent package which loops though the child packages. I would like to know how the variables traverse through the packages and the jobs?
Another doubt not related to above. I am unable to make any changes to the connections. Whatever changes I make it is getting reverted to the original if I click elsewhere. So as a workaround I view the code in XML and change.

Project Creation Error With Ivolva Component Wizards For Integration Services

I'm just getting started with SSIS and want to create a custom data flow component. I found the Ivolva Digital "Component Wizards for Integration Services" which says it make starting your own custom task or data flow component
a snap by providing a functional base project for your task or component.
Therefore I installed the Component Wizards for Integration Services and everything seemed to install ok - when I started Visual Studio I had the "Custom Data Flow Component" and "Custom Task" templates available in the New Projects dialog.
However, when I try to create a project of either of these types I get the message "Creating project 'CustomTask1'...project creation error" in the status bar, and can't get past the New Project dialog. (I can create all other project types ok, though).
Can anyone offer any advice that might help me out here?

Today, I got a request to change some variables inside the package which is part of the .dtsconfig. I want to edit the deployed .dtsConfig but it won't allow me and always complained that this file has been opened by another program. I am sure i've closed my ssis designer and other notpad, why can't I edit and save .dtsconfig file?

Nov 4, 2015I have an Excel file which contains some data. I want to load that into a SQL server Table. Here are my conditions :
1. If the table doesn't have any matching records from the Excel file, then my DFT should load the data from that Excel to the Dest Table.
2. If the table has even one or more matching records, then the DFT should not process at all, instead I should send an email to the business stating that there are some matching records and hence the package is not process...ed.
P.S. If i use Lookup, I have two matching and non-matching output. which will process the non matching records into the table and matching can be redirected to any flat/Excel file. But i don't want to do this. I just want to lookup the Sql Server table and excel.
It'll be good if there is an additional option in the Lookup "Fail component on matching records".

1) Add Script Component as Source
2) Add 3 x Output Columns Col1,2 and 3
3) Add HTTP Connection URL>..Binary Code not found, red circle showing
4) Add test code to Sub CreateNewOutputRows Dim i As Integer = 6 Binary Code not found, red circle not showing
5) Add Service Reference URL...Binary Code not found, red circle showing again
Should just adding Service Reference cause Binary Code not found, red circle to appear. I have to set precompilescripttobinary option , however cannot see this option in 2012

Aug 17, 2015I'm writing a custom source component that reads data from a SharePoint list with dynamic mapping to output columns. It's my first custom component and it's based on several samples and tutorials from Internet
Output columns are not created by the component itself, they must be added by user at design time. The component makes dynamically an association between SharePoint fields and available output columns at run-time (based on an mapping table).
I made a very basic skeleton and I encounter a problem when I add a column to output: it has no datatype and when I try to set one I have an the error Property value is not valid, The component xxxxxx does not allow setting output column datatype properties.
