Execution Of Child Package From Parent Package In Sql Server 2005 Integration Services
May 21, 2007Hi,
I created a package which passes some infornmations( through parameters) to its child package.
I need to do some processing in parent package based on execution status of child package.i.e.
if child fails then some operation and if child succeeds then other operation.
To determine the status of execution of child package I am using two differnt constraint ..one constraint is having value "Success" and other having value "Failure".
My problem is that when child packge is executed successfully the constraint with value = "Success" works properly but when child fails the constraint with value "Failure" does not work.

At the moment, I have divided the total number of jobs by 21 for every month which is a hard coded value. However, I am not sure how to retrieve this value dynamically. Is there any formula that can find out the working days?

Integration Services :: SMO Connection Manager Not Working?
Jan 1, 2014I'm using SSDT 2012 to create SMO Connection Manager for transferring server objects. However the connection is not working, it always returns error message something like "server is not found". I tried to connect multiple servers, with both Windows and SQL authentications, none of them works. I found the SMO.dll is already installed in the specific folder on my development machine. What would be the reason of this error?
Edited---Added the error message below. I can connect the server using OLEDB or ADO.NET. So my question is, is there a service, protocol or port .... to get SMO Server ready for responding?
Integration Services :: ISNULL Not Working In Derived Column?
May 7, 2015i have a derived column which contains the days of a month from 1 to 31
I have this expression for column 1:
(DT_R4)([1] == 4 ? 0.5 : ISNULL([1]) ? 0.0 : 1.0)
But the ISNULL function will not work. I am sure, there are some NULL Values in Column [1] but i get all the Time the value 1.0 back.
I need the Value 0 instead of NULL to calculate the days in an extra Column.
So that i have in the end a result column which have values for example: 4,5 or 5,5 .why ISNULL is not working?

Integration Services :: Expressions Not Working After Exiting A Sequence Container?
Sep 21, 2015I have an SSIS package that is pretty simple.
An Execute SQL task returns one row with two values that are correctly stored into variables.
Based off those two variables, a sequence container is chosen to execute.
That sequence container then does magic. The last step of the container has an execute SQL task that runs and stores the result in a variable - let's call this[User::result] with type Int32.
Based off the value in [User::result] one of two final tasks run. A non zero value executes one task; a zero value executes another. Basically,SOMETHING runs after this.
Simple? I thought so... except Step 4 doesn't work. If I set a post-execute breakpoint on the sequence container, the variables are populated as expected, but nothing else runs. If I add another task to run (without a conditional expression) to run after the sequence container completes, the pre-execute breakpoint shows the data looking exactly as I expect.
Those script tasks are just MessageBox.Show calls and the expression, as you can see, doesn't use variables at all.

Jul 30, 2015I'm currently loading a package that does a lookup on a column of data type nvarchar(4).The values itself are (A+, A, B+, B, C, D, /). The strange lookup behaviour is happening for each of the cases, so it's not related to a specific value. After trying to put the cache on NO CACHE, the lookup works perfectly. When using the default FULL CACHE the strange behaviour happens. Could it be related to the data type? I have not yet tried to use a CHAR instead of a NVARCHAR but it looks like people have similar issues using CHAR.

I've discussed this with the third party person; she's given me the necessary changes to the SQL. But I don't know what to do next.We've got this package on a test database server. I've got SSIS open to Stored Packages and have drilled down to the necessary folders to find it. But beyond that I don't know what to do. I understand that BIDS is involved, but that's as far as my understand of it goes.

Apr 23, 2015I modified an existing package created by someone (who left the organization). Its a ftp bulk insert from flat files to the tables. The need was to updates 2 tables out of 9 with additional columns. I made the changes to the package and it runs successfully on my laptop.
After that I build the package and tested it on the development server, although the package runs successfully but the data is written to my DB tables in my laptop instead of development server DB tables!.I see "." in the place of the connection manager server name. The DB name is the same in all the three environment (local, development & production). There is a configuration table used in the package.

I'd like to create some basic ETL SSIS packages, and I worked very comfortably in 2008R2.
For 2014, I started with this tutorial:[URL]However, it says to go to Start->All Programs->Microsoft SQL Server->SQL Server Data Tools.
I did explicitly install SSDT when I installed VS2015. I also installed it separately. I see SSDT listed in Programs, and SSIS is running according to SQL Server Config Manager, and Services. Half of Microsoft's docs seem to be 2012 era, which is a shame because 2014 is out and it's nearly 2016...

Oct 2, 2015The attached image below shows the steps and its set up to fail if not successful.However there was a metadata validation issue in step one (underlying database field had changed), yet the job kept emailing stating it was successful.It appears to have just carried on with the other steps despite step one failing.

The the child packages uses parent package variables and which we are configuring using configuration file while installation of the package. Here we need to set each path while installation because there are many variables using the same path with the different file names(Different files stored in same Folder).
We want to get the main path and then if we use relative path in other variables then we need not to assign all the variable paths while installation.
How to we can get the Application path in Integration Services Package(Script Task)?

Aug 12, 2015I'm working with integration services 2008 and I have a package where I selected a certain set of rows from an Oracle database and then I insert this data set into a SQL database. When the package is inserting in SQL database, it shows that all the rows were inserted, "green", but when I check the amount of data (I count), it's not the same as it was in Oracle.
For example: there are 15390 rows in Oracle and the packages inserts sometimes 9801, 8310, 9952, 9934, 9975, 5437, 9909 rows in SQL server.The package does not abort! It simply does not insert all the rows!
Integration Services :: Package XML Configuration File Once Checked Into TFS
Jul 29, 2015I've used XML package configuration in my packages in order to populate key variables. The configuration String is pointing to a local folder in my machine. After that, I've checked my whole solution into TFS. I did check the checked in file but could not find the .dtsConfig XML file. The problem occurs when the other teammate checked out this solution from TFS into his own box. When he tried to open the solution, it gives warning (not error though) saying it could not find the package configuration file.machine does not have the same URL I had in my box. In situation like this, how can we fix in the multi-developers SSIS environment?

Jun 9, 2006Is it possible to execute a stored procedure from an Integration Services package? I see that its possible to enter sql commands that can be run but when a command to execute a stored procedure is entered the system cannot find the stored procedure (eventhough 'use mydbname' preceded it.

The DTS Package created in early 2000 and we don't have a password for the DTS Package.
Is there a way to remove the password or read the content of the DTS Package?

Sep 8, 2015I am using SQL Server 2012 SP1. I have built an SSIS package that imports flat file data from various files to SQL Server. I have got it to do everything I want it to do when things are going well, and am now on what I want it to do when it encounters a failure executing specific tasks and containers. For example, I have a Foreach Loop container that executes a dedicated stored procedure for each csv file in the target folder. If any of the store procedures fail to run for any reason I want to carry out certain actions.
For the most part I think I will be fine using the Event Handlers. What I can't seem to find is how to tell the package to stop executing on a Failure event after carrying out the actions defined by the relevant Event Handler. Or, perhaps it isn't necessary as that would be the default behaviour on a failure?
