From SQL Server 2014, using SQL Server Data Tools for Visual Studio - BI, I'm trying to edit a Script Component within an SSIS Data Flow Task. The 'Edit Script...' button is enabled and turns a nice shade of blue when moused over, but a click has no effect. Perhaps I'm missing a component of VSTA? Everything else seems to work correctly. What might I be missing?
View 2 RepliesI have a package which has an Excel source with the 'Data access mode' set to SQL command and then a sql select statement. When I try and hit the 'Preview...' button below the 'SQL command text' window I get the following error:
"Error at Standard Data Flow Tasks [source tasks name]: No column information was returned by the SQL command"
Ordinarily this would be down to the fact that my SQL is shocking, I hit the 'Preview...' button whilst the workbook the source is pointing at was open and it works fine??
I can't figure this out, but needless to say the package errors with a NEEDSNEWMETADATA when I try and run it.
I am using SSIS 2008 tool for developing ETL package. I get below error whenever I click on script task editor.Cannot show Visual Studio 2008 Tools for Applications editor. (Microsoft Visual Studio).

7/6/2015 is my date and when I apply
SUBSTRING(ColumnName,5,4) + "-" + SUBSTRING(ColumnName,3,1) + "-" + SUBSTRING(ColumnName, 1,1)
I get 2015-6-7 which is good
But then when the date is like 10/12/2015 I would have to modify my code
My question is, Is their anything I can add to the code to make the single digits have a zero before them so I can use the same code throughout. My updated code would then be
SUBSTRING(ColumnName,7,4) + "-" + SUBSTRING(ColumnName,4,2) + "-" + SUBSTRING(ColumnName, 2,1)
tell me the difference between Audit transformation and rowcount transformation.
Because audit and rowcount transformation will provide the environment variables.
Only difference i am finding is rowcount returns the count of rows its updating .
Apart from these is there any other difference?
Tell me the scenario where i need to use the audit transformation.
We've been trying to use CozyRoc components in SQL server Data Tools. It seems like way to insert Cozy Components has been changed for SSDt as we're not getting CHOOSE ITEMS option in ToolBox(Right Click on Toolbox).link or Video where SSDT was used to Cozy Components.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am importing the values for field Atype from a .csv file as DT_STR, 13 and I need to fit them into a bit type CType field.
When I write the conditional split ((ISNULL(Atype)?"a":Atype)!=(ISNULL(CType)?"9":CType)) it says that the DT_WSTR and DT_I4 types are incompatible and that I need to explicitly cast with a cast operator. I haven't been able to make it work, how to explicitly cast?
Any way to run a package without having VS Data Tools or BIDS installed in the local machine? Scenario: I build a package and I put the package in a folder. I would like that one of my colleague run the package all by himself but I don't want install BIDS or DTT in his machine. Is there any plug in, trick or something else I can do?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI "upgraded" to Windows 10 (I was installing a new c: drive anyway). I installed SQL Server & SSIS, Visual Studio 2012, SQL Server Data Tools 2012, etc. When I try to load up my project (.sln) in SQL Data Tools I get the following warnings/errors:

As well as installing Windows 10, I had also renamed by computer. I have tried renaming it back (I noticed some references to the computer name in the xml), but no difference.Have I installed the wrong versions of one of the software? SQL Server 2012 Data Tools was working fine for me but something must've changed, now every time I try to create a new SSIS project I get:
The server threw an exception. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80010105 (RPC_E_SERVERFAULT)).
When I try to open an existing project I get:
exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation
external component has thrown an exception (SSISUpgrade)
The issue seems to only arise with SSIS projects.I have already uninstalled SQL Server 2012 and reinstalled it and that didn't work.I tried to install Visual Studio 2012 Data Tools with BI and that also crashes when I try to create an SSIS project.Output of SQL Server SELECT @@VERSION is:

I have a Connection manager to an Excel workbook. I've set it up as Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0 Excel 8.0;HDR=NoWhen I create the DataFlow OLE DB source, the Name of Table or View dropdown shows only 3 items:
Resources$ Resources$_ and Volumes$_
My workbook has 2 tabs (Resources and Volumes; Volumes is hidden), two named ranges of the same name (Resources and Volumes) and a bunch of other named ranges.
Why does the drop down only show these three things, and only the first one (the first tab Resources$) actually works.
The other two give a nasty message (0xC02020E8 Microsoft.SqlServer.DTSPipelineWrap)

I'm trying to execute a simple VBS file from the Executable command line in the Execute Process Task Editor.
My line is this : cscript.exe "c:convertcsvssisXlsToCsv.vbs"
SSIS keeps saying there are illegal characters here. I've Googled and looked about 20 articles and I can't resolve it.
I have a ForEach that loops through Excel files and changes them to CSV files using code i found. This script takes an original Excel file and transfers it to a new CSV file in a new directory.
So in DOS at the CMD line I would type : XlsTocsv.vbs originalfile.xls newfile.csv
I have the original file and new file in the Arguments line so I'm assuming that after the script executes it will look at the filepaths in the loop and loop through them so I want it do to this when it runs:
XlsTocsv.vbs [User::@ExcelFile] [User::@CSVFile]
I just can't get it to execute and I keep getting illegal characters.
I am running my package in sql server 2012, in which i am giving network path for flat file destination. And its working fine. But if i give m local path, its giving me error " cannot open data file" ...
Nothing is wrong with package.

I have created variable @[User::CustId] with Int32 datatype, having default value 2 when I am trying to evaluate below query I am getting error

Error. The Data types "DT_WSTR" and "DT_I4" are incompatible for binary operator "+".
The operand types could not be implicitly cast into compatible types for the operation. To perform this operation , one or both operands need to be explicitly cast with the operator.
We are using the cache transformation in our project , while doing the cache transformation our disk space goes to 0 MB free and SSIS package execution not completes even after 3 hr..Initially we have around 34 GB free space on C: drive .Our server configuration is 64 RAM. We are caching the data from table which contains around 21 million records.We changed the path in properties (“BLOPTempStoragePath”,”BufferTempStoragePath”) of Data Flow task of SSIS in which we are using Cache Transformation.

I would like to produce a new column that is a concatenation of these two fields, but the PostingRow needs to be a 3 digit number eg. 1000256153-001 ....
In SSIS I use the DQS Cleansing transformation component. I've got a knowledge base (KB) in place and this KB holds various domains and my data source has more input columns than would like to use for a particular clean up operation. I want to use some of the input columns to map against some domains in the KB. It is my understanding that it should be possible to select only the required input columns, but all i can do is select all input columns.

I would like to be able to dynamically set the table that the Lookup Transformation is connecting to at runtime.I've looked into the "Use results of an SQL query" on the connection screen (which correlates to the "SqlCommand" property), but I'm unable to pass in a parameter this way.I've also looked into the SqlCommandParam, but that doesn't allow me to use a parameter in the "FROM" clause of the sql syntax.

I have two OLE DB data sources from two disparate databases (IBM DB2 and Microsoft SQL Server), some columns from each of which are to be included in the merged output results. I have noted the various requirements in the forum postings with regard to sorting the OLE DB sources and specifying the output source columns as being sorted, as well as the requirement that the join fields in the two sources be close/exact matches. Yet, when I run this in VS, while the work area reflects the expected number of rows being input into the Merge Join transformation, no count is reflected as output from that transformation into the final destination table.Specifically, my two data sources (IBM DB2 and MS SQL) are configured as follows:

The Merge Join transformation specifies an INNER JOIN using the columns named "key_source_dtsy" and "key_source_dtrt" from the respective data sources.I know there are alternative ways of accomplishing my intent (Lookup, port MS SQL table to IBM DB2 so join can occur in SELECT statement, etc.; however, I'd like to use this functionality and assume that it should work.
I have VS 2013 installed in my machine with SQL server 2012 ,I have installed Microsoft data tools for VS 2013,In the integration service project i used script component when i try to pen the script task its not opening VSTA projects ,its simple ideally without any action.I am facing this issue for past 2 months i tried fixing this problem but no use.
The script task editor has "Access VSTA to write script using VS 2012".So i installed VSTA tools for 2012 and 2013 but no issue.
But the script component works for VS 2010.I have installed Microsoft Visual Studio tools for VS 2012,VS2012 AND VS 2013.
This issue is occurring for VS 2012 and VS 2013.
My source has 2.2 million of records. I'm performing the incremental load.In the lookup transformation i used the destination table for the reference using Full cache mode.For the first time package executed successfully but when i executed the package second time, Suddenly Package hangs while running.Than i truncate the data from the destination table and restart the SQL Server Services.After doing all this i executed package again and it worked but when i executed package second time, again package hangs up .I have 8GB RAM and i5 2.5 GHz Processor laptop.

Greetings, I am attempting to create a flat file delimited by |. I am using (ISNULL(LIN1_OPT_ADDR) ? "" : LIN1_OPT_ADDR + "| ") to replace the blank address column with the pipe delimiter. So that a row that would consist of:
Customer Number,Name,Address Line1,City,State

Should end up as:

We are migrating the SQL Server database from 2000 to 2012 and part of this exercise we are migrating the DTS Package to SSIS Package. we were unable to convert the password protected DTS Package to SSIS Package. The DTS Package created in early 2000 and we don't have a password for the DTS Package.
Is there a way to remove the password or read the content of the DTS Package?
I have a source file as filename.mar it is microsoft access report. When I am loading into my database the file name was something like filename.nov (its current month).
When I ran the package its shows error system cannot find the file filename.nov.

Can I add Output Columns to the Script Transformation Editor using code? I have to execute a SQL Statement to determine the number of years we have the data for for an item and then create the columns for the months in those years and populate them with the quantities. So my question is can I create output columns to the Script Transformation Editor on the fly that is as it is being executed?
Any input will be good.

In a nut shell I want to be able to instruction some Data Analysts on how to modify SSIS packages using the simpliest solutions possible. This is because there are many different data sources and some of these data sources have a huge number of fields, and yes you guessed it these data sources are subject to change on a regular basis.
A very common task they will need to do is to modify an SSIS package to do a to transform of a source date string format of "YYYYMMDD" into a date data type field within a table.
Similar threads have advised the use of the Data Flow Transformations->Derived Column for this sort of thing.
So within the Expression Text box I have inserted the following SSIS compatible SQL to convert the above string into a british format date data type; -

But really what I want to be able to do is to instruct the Data Analysts to do is something like; -

Where I previously defined that behaviour of ConvertTextToDate as a public VB.NET function.
Can someone please help. I'm pretty certain I'm not the only one with this type of requirement.
