Integration Services :: Unable To Get Managed Connection From Connection Manager Runtime

Apr 15, 2015

I use SQL Server 2012 and visual studio 2010.I created SSIS Project with task "Execute Package". Control flow view as: Package1 (execute package) -> Package2 (data flow).Data flow in Package2 view as: ADO.NET source -> ADO.NET destination.

When I started Package2, it's work. I havn't errors. But when I started Package 1 I have error "Unable to get managed connection from the Connection Manager runtime". In execution log I see that ADO.NET source produced this error on verification stage. Package failed on verification stage, not on execution stage. Why when I started Package 2 it work, but when I started Package1 (and Package1 started Package2) it failed?

Integration Services :: Unable To Update Packet Size Parameter In Connection Manager

I have an expression based project connection manager in an existing package and updating Packet Size parameter.

After update and clicking on OK, Packet Size value reverts back to 0 (which is old value). This connection manager is used by lot of Dataflow tasks in my package and recreating the connection manager and updating the reference is not a viable option.

Edit Connection Manager Connection String At Runtime With C#

Jul 3, 2007

This is the first time I have used SSIS, so please bear with the ignorance.

I have a super simple package that inserts x000's of rows into a temporary table. The data source is a file that the user will upload. I need to be able to tell the package what file to upload. I'm thinking the simplest thing would be to edit the connectionString property of the SourceConnectionFlatFile at runtime. Is this possible? What form should the file path be in (UNC, other)? And, are there any other considerations I should be aware of?

Thanks!

Integration Services :: DB2 Connection Manager

Aug 17, 2015

I have an existing SSIS package created on another workstation. It connects to and updates data in a DB2 database.   I'm only making one very minor change to the package, so I want to change this package as little as possible. When I try to open the existing db2 connection manager in the package on my workstation, I get 'The specified provider is not supported. Please choose different provider in connection manager'.

On the properties box, I get the following on the connectionString for the existing connection manager (data source and userid changed to "private"):Data Source=PRIVATE;User ID=private;Provider=IBMDADB2.DB2COPY1;Persist Security Info=True;

I tried loading the 32 and 64 bit db2 drivers (but I may have done something wrong). I still couldn't get the original db2 connection manager to open, I tried to add a new connection manager,

Data Source=PRIVATE;Provider=IBMDADB2 Advanced Page..This has 'Provider=IBMDADB2 Advanced Page.;' instead of Provider='IBMDADB2.DB2COPY1', and doesn't let me enter a userid and password, which I need to be able to do.

Integration Services :: SMO Connection Manager Not Working?

Jan 1, 2014

I'm using SSDT 2012 to create SMO Connection Manager for transferring server objects. However the connection is not working, it always returns error message something like "server is not found". I tried to connect multiple servers, with both Windows and SQL authentications, none of them works. I found the SMO.dll is already installed in the specific folder on my development machine. What would be the reason of this error?

Edited---Added the error message below. I can connect the server using OLEDB or ADO.NET. So my question is, is there a service, protocol or port .... to get SMO Server ready for responding?

Integration Services :: FTP Connection Manager Not Retaining Password?

Aug 28, 2015

I have an SSIS package that uses an FTP connection manager. When running the package in BIDS, it runs fine and maintains the password for the remote ftp site's user account.
Once I deploy the package and attempt to run it, it fails with the following error:

Started:  4:06:15 PM
Error: 2015-08-27 16:06:20.09
   Code: 0xC001602A
Source: Export and FTP New Jobs Connection manager "FTP Connection Manager"
Description: An error occurred in the requested FTP operation. Detailed error description: The password was not allowed
End Error
Error: 2015-08-27 16:06:20.09
   Code: 0xC002918F
Source: FTP Jobs Listing to Concur FTP Task
Description: Unable to connect to FTP server using "FTP Connection Manager".
End Error
DTExec: The package execution returned DTSER_FAILURE (1).

I've tried Don't Save Sensitive With Password and that still fails.

Does the FTP connection manager just not retain passwords outside of BIDS?

Integration Services :: The Connection Manager Seems To (forget) The Password In SSIS

Jun 22, 2015

I create a connection to an OLE db source and use SQL Server authorization and save the password, the connection manager seems to "forget" the password. That is, when I click the 'save password' check box, and do a test connection, it connects fine. But as soon as I close that connection window, and reopen it, the password box is empty, and the 'save password' box is still checked.

While using the connection manager name in the SSIS component (say script task) the connection is failing . As a workaround, the whole connection string has been put in a variable and used that variable in the SCRIPT task.

Is it a bug or some other property need to be set to use ConnectionManager Name .

Integration Services :: Saving Connection Manager Password Permanently

When User B tries to run the SSIS package, the error is thrown as : The package may be damaged.

On typing the password again inside the connection manager, the execution occurs successfully. Is there any workaround to save the password permamanently for the connection manager rather than each user entering it in order to run the package ?

Integration Services :: SSIS - Connection Manager Property Not Set From Project Parameter

Oct 2, 2015

I am working with SQL Server 2012. I have deployed a SSIS project that has 2 packages in it. The package connection manager (Test) uses an expression to evaluate one of the Project parameter value (TestConnectionString) to set its ConnectionString property.

This works fine in a Dev environment. However when deployed to UAT, it keeps failing with the error:

PackageExport:Error: The result of the expression
"@[$Project::TestConnectionString]" on property
"Package.Connections[Test].Properties
[ConnectionString]" cannot be written to the property. The expression was evaluated, but cannot be set on the
property.

I can not seem to find what the issue could be. I have come across [URL] .... where it says: "If the package contains project parameters, the package execution may fail." but offers no solution.

Integration Services :: Need To Create SSIS CONNECTION Manager Specifically For Linked Server?

Oct 1, 2015

I have a linked server setup in dev environment which is pointing to ORACLE server of a third-party. I m on  sql server 2008 r2 and   using BIDS 2008 for building an SSIS package which would pull data from oracle and do a look up in SQL server table to get a final  extract. Now the query which pulls data from a single table from linked server is like the one below

select * from [oracle linked server ]..dbo.tablename a
left join  mySQLSERVERtable b
on a.id=b.id

Note:I can execute this query on SSMS as  the linked server is setup -[oracle linked server ] and I have sql  oledb connection manager for dev environment already configured in my ssis package .

My questions are do I need to create a SSIS CONNECTION manager specifically for linked server in my ssis package ?

Are there any best practices which we follow when using linked servers in this context ? I am thinking will the join suffer performance issue and what kind of exceptions I need to write when the linked server connection is broken.

How To Add A Connection Manager At Runtime Within A Script Component?

Oct 29, 2007

Hi all. Sorry about bothering you again but I have no choice, I'm afraid. This time I have to add a connection manager at runtime. I have a script that examines rows in a huuuuuuuuuuuuge file and it turns out that I will have to redirect different rows into 95 different text files. I would like to avoid the pain of creating the files and connection managers manually. I have a source script component that runs asynchronously (the only way basically it can run as a source) and I wonder whether this time, when I change the connction string on the manager at runtime inside the script, it would run properly. Can anybode tell me, please?

HTTP Connection Manager Connectionstring, Web Tasks, And Runtime Configuration

May 12, 2008

At one point in my package I call a simple web service that kicks off a process on a remote server using a Web Service Task . I need to be able to point the task at a test instance while I'm testing and a different one when it goes to production. The simple answer (you'd hope anyway) is to just store the ConnectionString for the HTTP Connection Manger in Package Configurations for TEST and PROD. I did this and when the package runs, the connection manager's connectionstring does get changed, but the web service task doesn't use this value. It uses the value defined in the WSDL file which in my case contains the URL for the TEST instance.

Am I missing something obvious? Do I really have to get the WSDLs from PROD and TEST and deploy both of them to the appropriate environment? What does the ConnectionString in the HTTP Connection Manager actually do then?

Thanks for any insight you might have.

Flat File Connection Manager HeaderRowsToSkip Not Modifiable At Runtime?

Jul 19, 2006

I have been working with flat file connection managers for a while now, and I have found it very useful to set properties on all types of SSIS objects using expressions that are set to SSIS package variables.

We have recently moved towards using a centralized application configuration infrastructure, so we are now loading up all application configuration information from our own system -- it's actually based off of the 2.0 ConfigurationManager.

I have developed a custom control flow task that will retrieve all of the SSIS variable information from our own application configuration system and set all of the SSIS variables as the first step in a package.

When I have been using this to set the SSIS Variables which are used in expressions for the HeaderRowsToSkip and DataRowsToSkip (there may be others, but I have not tested them yet) properties of flat file connection managers, these values are not being used -- instead it is using the values for the variables that are defined in the package itself (i.e. the default values that I set up in BIDS when developing the package). The ConnectionString property on the flat file connection manager does not exhibit this behavior.

Can anyone provide any insight on this? Is this a bug in SSIS, or is there something that I am missing here?

Thanks in advance.
