there is a way to write an if statement for a derived column to count rows?
for example:
Row 35: PRI 7010
Row 100: PRI 7011
formula that when it gets to row 100. it will go back and look at 35 and use that data if the 7010 = 7010, if not use 7011,,,
I have an SSIS package in which I need to include a derived column. I've done derived columns a ton when there is just one condition being "tested". In this case there are two. I have the following update statement for a table I'm inserting data into:

But the ISNULL function will not work. I am sure, there are some NULL Values in Column [1] but i get all the Time the value 1.0 back.
I need the Value 0 instead of NULL to calculate the days in an extra Column.

I have 10 columns i.e from Segment1 to Segment10. I need to concatenate it with ".". All 10 segments can be null. If any of the segment is null i do not want to show ".". This is the expression I am using

I have the following 2 fields that are sourced from an Excel spreadsheet
DocNumber - a 10 digit number
PostingRow - a number between 1 and 999

Using data conversion i changed data type to DT_WSTR and then i used derived column to manipulate the data. Ex. 1 = "Yes" and 0 = "No"
[Candidate Placed ?] == "1" ? "Yes" : "No"
But at end of result i got all the columns as No. Some should be Yes.
While handling errors in a flat file I am routing the rows into the excel sheet to business for further processing. I need to send a mail attaching the excel sheet which contains the errored-out/In-Complete definitons. The problem is I need to send a mail if and only if there is at least one row in Excel sheet. How Can I count the rows exist in excel sheet? and send the rowcount to a variable and use that value of a variable to send a mail?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI've a SSIS 2008 parent/child package solution to manage data transfers between two different data sources, so we can copy multiple tables and capture how many rows were transferred and duration for each transfer. This solution was working fine up until last week, when I made some changes to allow the package to perform a source count using standard SQL determined by an expression, or SQL provided from configuration tables, I also changed the package to Truncate or not the destination table, again controlled by configuration settings in a table. The child packages which perform the data flows have not changed!
The day after the controlling package promotion to live, I saw the bizarre behaviour of the Package log stating all rows transferred, but the actual table counts were not what the log stated, see attached file. The package solution works ok on other servers and was ok in DEV, but there were less tables and rows transferred.Re-running the package gave the same errors, but on some of the same tables and some different ones.
As it is the child packages doing the transfers and nothing has changed in them. I cannot see how the log would be able to say all rows are transferred and yet not all of the rows are actually moved?

An example of the data transfer child packages (as txt not dtsx)When I set the ExecuteOutOfProcess = True the package worked fine, unfortunately, this is not a good solution as SSIS 2008 does not tidy up the Dtshost.exe processes it starts and I'd be left with a memory issue after a very short time, we transfer hundreds of tables each day. ( I could write a .net script in the controlling package to kill the child processes, but that would still have hundreds of processes running before I could end them, as we have three parallel streams to allow a bit better performance.
How do I pass a single column of values from a successful merge join to an EXECUTE SQL statement so it can be used with an "IN" criteria of the WHERE clause? Here's an example of my update statement with two random key values:

Is this even possible in SSIS, or am I better off using a loop and running the update EXECUTE SQL Statement for each individual key value, as in the following example?

I have a lot of different data flows that need "Derived Column". There are maybe only 5 different such "Derived Column" but they appear many times. Is there a way to eliminate all that double work? It should be something that does not take me more time to do than just duplicating all the "Derived Columns".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI've found that there is no such thing as a Case Statement in the Derived Column task in the data flow objects. I've written a ternary statement instead. I can't seem to get it to work exactly how I want it to. For example
AccountCategory == "E" ? 1 : 2
Works fine but the following doesn't
AccountCategory == "E" ? CreditAmount : DebitAmount
The CreditAmount and DebitAmount Fields are spelled correctly, the field type of AccountCategory is String and the Field type of CreditAmount and DebitAmount is numeric, but that seems to be the same situation that I have in the first example that works. Am I missing something? I'd appreciate any advice anyone has to offer. Thanks,

I have a conditional split in an SSIS package - one split is where if rows are returned according to a specific rule, then insert those rows into to a Recordset Destinationm which points to a variable of Object type.
How I can use this variable to email fellow users. For example, what I would like is if ANY rows are returned to the Object variable (1 or more), then I would like to execute an email SP that we have on our server.
I have a table which has a field called Org. This field can be segmented from one to five segments based on a user defined delimiter and user defined segment length. Another table contains one row of data with the user defined delimiter and the start and length of each segment. e.g.

My objective is to use SSIS and derive three columns from the one column in Table 1 based on the positions defined in Table 2. Table 2 is a single row table. I thought perhaps I could use the substring function and nest the select statement in place of the parameters in the derived column data flow. I don't seem to be able to get this to work.
Any ideas? Can this be done in SSIS?
I'd really appreciate any insight that anyone might have.

I am facing an issue that Data flow task failing after loading 29000 rows out of 2lakhs rows.
I am loading data from .csv file to OLE DB Destination.
This data flow task is placed inside For each loop container.
is this issue because of any performance issue in SSIS packages such as buffer size.

I have my first SSIS package almost working, but I'm having an odd problem and can't find any information to help resolve it.
I'm importing from a flat file (csv) to an existing table (append). I've got a Derived Column transformation in the middle to do some data cleanup. It's all working except for one little problem...
One of the transformations is 'REPLACE([Column 3],"^","; ")', output to a new column. (The input file has a field that uses carets as delimiters between an unknown number of items; I'm changing that to semicolons for easier reading.) Not all rows have data in this column, some will have one item, some will have multiple items.
The REPLACE works except that it fills in repeated data for all the blank rows.
Example:
Incoming data is:

2 Brown,John

4 Adams,James^Adams,Jim

Data inserted into the table is:
1 Smith,Jane; Jones,Jane

I've tried to use a Conditional to skip the empty rows, but I can't get that working at all (get syntax errors no matter what I put in).
Any suggestions on how to fix this would be most appreciated!

I have flat file source from which data is imported to a Sql table.The target column is int and input column is string .The column has some numeric values and some blank values.when I tried to convert into int values it fails.

I've been working on an issue in an SSIS package and getting strange results using a package variable named "UnprocessedFileCount". I'm looping through files in a directory (using a Foreach Loop Container) to process data into the database, and after a certain amount of time, I stop processing the files and short circuit the loop to finish the package faster. I was tasked with counting the number of files that weren't processed and it seemed easy enough to count how many times the loop "short circuited" by incrementing a variable in a script task. I then wanted to send out an email and include the incremented variable in the body of the message.
I ran into issues when I used the variable name "UnprocessedFileCount". The variable was incrementing within the loop as expected. However, it was always resetting back to "0" after the ForEach file Loop Container completed.
After some heavy searching on the subject, to no avail, I eventually found that changing the variable name did not reset the variable.
I'm still using SQL Server 2008.

View 2 Replies View RelatedHow do I add only new rows to a destination table (when copying a table from another database every night) ?Every night I am copying a number of tables from one database to another.I only want to insert news rows (that are not in the destination table, but are in the source table) to the destination table.I might normally drop the destination table and just copy over the whole table, but in this case rows can be deleted from the source table, but I want to keep these old rows in the destination table (to maintain history). So I only want to add in rows to the destination table that have been added to the source table since last time.I guess I could copy the whole of the source table to a temporary table in the warehouse, then use a T-SQL merge command to compare and just add new rows to the destination table- but suspect that this is not the best way.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm working with integration services 2008 and I have a package where I selected a certain set of rows from an Oracle database and then I insert this data set into a SQL database. When the package is inserting in SQL database, it shows that all the rows were inserted, "green", but when I check the amount of data (I count), it's not the same as it was in Oracle.
For example: there are 15390 rows in Oracle and the packages inserts sometimes 9801, 8310, 9952, 9934, 9975, 5437, 9909 rows in SQL server.The package does not abort! It simply does not insert all the rows!
