Integration Services :: Web Service Has Image Field - How To Save To Disk

Jun 5, 2015

I have to access a web service where I pass in a product number and it produces an XML result with an /image section where it has a long string (base64?)    I am trying to call the web service and save the image to the OS.

I am trying to get the result into a variable and save it to disk with  the itemno.jpg as the name

This is a sample file I get back..

<NewDataSet>
  <Table>
    <ITEMNO>2065</ITEMNO>
    <Image>/9j/4QAYRXhpZgAASUkqAAgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAP/sABFEdWNr ...  removed since too long for post  ...</Image>
    <ImageDate>2015-04-15T00:00:00+00:00</ImageDate>
  </Table>
</NewDataSet>

Integration Services :: DTSX Won't Save Variable Updates

Nov 10, 2015

I have a set of .dtsx files that connect to an Oracle database. The Oracle username and pw values are saved in variables set up in the .dtsx files.  These two variables do not have expressions, rather, these two variables feed other variables and their expressions.Theses files are now moving from one environment to another and the Oracle username and pw must be updated to connect to the new Oracle environment.

Upon updating the variables, the packages expressions update as expected, however, when saving the file to disk, the updated variables aren't saved and the values revert back to the original values.

How are variables updated in .dtsx packages that will allow changes to be saved?

BUG: Integration Services Project-can't Click On Save Copy Of Package As...

May 19, 2006

Hi.

I found a possible bug. If I open/create a new Integration Services Project and then try to save a copy of the package to SQL Server I found that for the option to "save Copy of Package As..." is only available if I am in the package itself. If I click (highlight) on the package in the Solution explorer and then click on the File tab, the "save Copy of Package As..." option is not available.

I hope that I explained this well enough.

thanks.

Web Service To Call Integration Services

Oct 6, 2006

Hi,

I'm hoping someone has tried something similar before. I am trying to run an integration from a remote computer using a web service. I have set up the web service and the bog standard launch package routine works fine. What i'd like to be able to do is to launch a package and also specify any parameters associated with it. I have the following code which is identcal to the main launch sub with the exception of an extra argument (jagged array of varible name and value variablePair[4][2]). It also processes the variable array and sets them on the DTSPackage object.

[code]
[WebMethod]
public int LaunchSSISPackageWithVariables(string sourceType, string sourceLocation, string packageName, string[][] variableArray)
{
string packagePath;
Package myPackage;
Application integrationServices = new Application();

// Combine path and file name.
packagePath = Path.Combine(sourceLocation, packageName);

switch (sourceType)
{
case "file":
// Package is stored as a file.
// Add extension if not present.
if (String.IsNullOrEmpty(Path.GetExtension(packagePath)))
{
packagePath = String.Concat(packagePath, ".dtsx");
}
if (File.Exists(packagePath))
{
myPackage = integrationServices.LoadPackage(packagePath, null);
}
else
{
throw new ApplicationException("Invalid file location: " + packagePath);
}
break;
case "sql":
// Package is stored in MSDB.
// Combine logical path and package name.
//if (integrationServices.ExistsOnSqlServer(packagePath, ".", String.Empty, String.Empty))
if (integrationServices.ExistsOnSqlServer(packagePath, ".", "executeSSIS", "p4ssw0rd"))
{
//myPackage = integrationServices.LoadFromSqlServer(packageName, "(local)", String.Empty, String.Empty, null);
myPackage = integrationServices.LoadFromSqlServer(packageName, "(local)", "executeSSIS", "p4ssw0rd", null);
}
else
{
throw new ApplicationException("Invalid package name or location: " + packagePath);
}
break;
case "dts":
// Package is managed by SSIS Package Store.
// Default logical paths are File System and MSDB.
if (integrationServices.ExistsOnDtsServer(packagePath, "."))
{
myPackage = integrationServices.LoadFromDtsServer(packagePath, "localhost", null);
}
else
{
throw new ApplicationException("Invalid package name or location: " + packagePath);
}
break;
default:
throw new ApplicationException("Invalid sourceType argument: valid values are 'file', 'sql', and 'dts'.");
}

//Variables var = myPackage.Variables;
//foreach (string key in variablePairs.Keys)
//{
// var[key].Value = variablePairs[key].ToString();
//}

Variables var = myPackage.Variables;

for (int i = 0; i < variableArray.Length; i++)
{
var[variableArray[0]].Value = variableArray[1].ToString();
}

return (Int32)myPackage.Execute();
}
[/code]

For some reason the above code runs and passes back the value that it succeeded. Yet the package doesn't do what it should. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be the case or even a better way to pass the variables.

Many thanks,

Grant

SQL Server Integration Services And Web Service Timeouts

Feb 20, 2007

Hi,

A coworker of mine is experiencing some problems with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) and long running Web Service calls. Any feedback on the problem would be greatly appreciated.

The problem is as follow:
He has a large SSIS-package that, among other things, contain a few Web Service Tasks. All of the tasks are executing as expected for small amounts of data. All the Web Service Methods have in common that they have a long running time. The running time depends on the amount of data.

During requests with large amount of data the Web Service task fails with the error message The operation has times out?, but on the server they see that the service call completes as expected (after quite some time, approx 200sec).

The Web Service tasks are using an HTTP Connection Manager?, created in the SSIS package. The timeout-value is set to 300 sec (which is the largest value for the property). My coworker expected that this value was the same as setting the timeout value for a Web Service proxy object for any other project.

After testing the Web Service from a Console application, with 300 sec timeout, the app executed as expected with no timeout exception.

After doing some testing, hes quite sure that the SSIS task times out after 100 seconds, which is the default .NET 2.0 timeout value for a WS proxy, even though the timeout property in SSIS is set to 300 seconds.

As a work around he have created a console application that does the web service call, and then use the execute process task? in SSIS. This is off course a dirty? hack, and he wants to use the HTTP Connection Manager? task instead.

So the question is: Have anyone experienced this problem before? Is there a limitation on the HTTP Connection Manager task? Is the timeout value on the HTTP Connection Manager task the same as setting the timeout property on a WS proxy? Why isnt this timeout? value picked up my SSIS?

Again, thanks for any help!

Integration Services :: Post To A Web Service Using SSIS

I have another database B which is accessed via webservice call.(its a CRM server basically).

My intention is to transfer data from A to B while B is accessible only via web service. I need to Trasnfer the data from the source database A to the destination Database B by calling the webservice.

Is there a way where I can retrieve whole set of rows in source table in preexecute(), And transfer the data to Database destination B by calling the webservice?

Error 1053: Could Not Start The SQL Server Integration Services Service

Mar 19, 2008

We encountered an error the other day that was causing us major head-aches trying to resolve.

Error: 1053 -- Could not start the SQL Server Integration Services service

In addition to SSIS not starting up, we had errors trying to launch Management Studio.

The above errors started happening after we deployed a small release that included editing the machine.config file.

To make a long story short, make sure the machine.config file is well formatted and is not missing any double quotes (") or < /> .

Hopefully this information can help someone out.

Once again the UI allows you to specify a variable for that complex type parameter. But how to make this variable in SSIS?I understand it should have the type of Object. But how to specify what the runtime type of this object is? And how to assign all fields to that object?

Integration Services :: Error While Changing Field Size

Sep 10, 2015

I am loading from SQL Server 2008 to Access 2010 using SSIS. One of the columns in the table I am loading into is a Number datatype and Fieldsize is long integer. The values are being truncated, so I want to change the Fieldsize to DOUBLE.  However, when I do that I receive the error below. What should I do? I would like not to change my Windows registry.

This error can be caused by one of the following:

The maximum number of columns allowed in a table or the maximum number of locks for a single file is exceeded.

The indexed property of a field is changed from Yes (Duplicates OK) to Yes (No Duplicates) when duplicate data exists in the table.

An expression is not specified in the Expression property of a calculated field.

If the maximum number of locks per file was exceeded, you can increase the number by editing a registry entry. However, this is not a recommended option.

If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you could cause serious problems that require you to reinstall the operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

Make a backup of the registry. Find the MaxLocksPerFile registry value by using the Windows Registry Editor, and then increase the value. The MaxLocksPerFile value is saved as part of the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftOffice14.0Access Connectivity EngineEnginesACE

If the Indexed property of a field and duplicate data is located in the table, reset the Indexed property to the previous setting, or remove duplicate records from the table.

While I was loading to the same table a few days ago, I received a warning and the task took approx 9 hours. I am attaching the screen shot.

Do I Save Disk Space Storing Images In Db Vs. Loose Files?

Jan 16, 2007

Hello --
I'm building an app that will allow users to create their own photo galleries.  At this point, I'm planning on storing all photos as byte arrays in SQL server image fields.
Besides the organizational benefit, is there a space benefit to doing this?  That is, if I have 1MB of .jpg's, will those same images take up less than 1MB of file space within the database?
One of the reasons I ask is that most hosting plans out there seem to offer more "normal" disk space than is allocated for the database, so I'm trying to make a best plan to accommodate what will probably end up being the biggest disk space consumer in my app (the photos, that is).
Any other recommendations re: this scenario (hosting, best practices) are appreciated.
TIA,
Eric

Integration Services :: Convert Field Of VARCHAR To INT Datatype In SSIS 2014?

Nov 17, 2015

I'm trying to convert a column in my source table of datatype varchar(6) to a column of datatype int in my destination. I tried using the Derived Column/Data Conversion transformations but none of them worked. So, I tried using the following C# (credits to the original poster) and getting an error during compilation.

Note: "MyCol" is the Input Column I've specified in the Script Component and "CleanCol" is the Output column I've specified as datatype [DT_I4].

public override void Input0_ProcessInputRow(Input0Buffer Row)
{
int colOut = 0;
if (!Int32.TryParse(Row.MyCol, out colOut))
{
Row.CleanCol_IsNull = true;
} else {
Row.CleanCol = colOut;
}
}

The best overloaded method match for 'int.TryParse(string, out int)' has some invalid arguments

The other expression I've tried was:

ISNULL(MyCol) ? (dt_i4)"" : (dt_i4)MyCol

From the above code, you might have understood that the source field has some blank records as well in the MyCol field.

What is the best possible way to do the conversion from a String to Int or fixing the error from the above.

Integration Services :: Loading Datetime Field Give Wrong Dates In SSIS

May 30, 2015

I am using Sql Server 2012. I have a table which has a field as Datetime (it is a table in Dynamics CRM 2011 so I have no control of the data type). Say this field is called BisStartDate. If I run this query in management studio.

select
BisStartDate, BisStartDateutc
from myTable
where _bisnumber=10375

I will get:

BisStartDate                                             BisStartDateutc

2014-07-29 00:00:00.000                      2014-07-29 05:00:00.000

*in CRM, datetime is saved in 2 fields, one is the current time, the other one is the utc time.

You can see the offset  between the datetime and utc is 5 hours.

However when the same statement was running inside a SSIS package on the server, the result returned is:

BisStartDate                                             BisStartDateutc

2014-07-28 23:00:00.0000000            2014-07-29 05:00:00.000

And if I do

datediff(MINUTE,CRMAF_BisSection.ttc_section_startdatetimeutc,CRMAF_BisSection.ttc_section_startdatetime)

I will get -5 if I run it in ManagementStudio and -6 is running on server package(running inside VisualStudio will be -5, same as running a query in ManagementStudio).

I think when the record was saved, “date” is 5 hours offset to UTC time but now the system use the current utc offset which is 6 hours. I just want to use the BisStartDate as it is. How do I let the SSIS turn off the conversion.

The same datatime is saved in another system then we compare them to check the data entry. Now because of this one hour difference, sometime the Day will be different.

What Permissions Are Required For SQL Server Service Account To Call Web Service Using CLR Integration?

Furthermore, this sp is called according with SQL Server Agent Job's schedule. On my PC SQL Server works under Local System account and this web service is called correctly (Executed as user: NT AUTHORITYSYSTEM). But on ther other server the following exception is raised during job running:

What is the reason of this behaviour? Unfortunately I do not have direct access to this server.
I have the following guesses:
1) CORPmssqlserver may have not enough permissions to call web service

2) Something wrong with SQL Server Agent account's permissions
