Integration Services :: Package To Move Data From 8 Different Tables Dependent On Each Other
Oct 12, 2015I am trying to move data from 8 different tables that are dependent on each other through foreign key relationship.
Basically they have millions of rows in each table and they have data for the past 5 years. I want to move data for the past 120 days and move it to 8 new tables in the same database. So I created the new tables along with their relationships. Now I need to move in the order (parent table first).
The child table has 50million rows data to move
The intermediate tables have 10 mil 10mil 10mil and 40 mil 50mil and 20 mil rows to move
The parent table has 10 mil rows to move
if I choose to move this data through an SSIS package what is the best way? Or is there a better way to move this data faster?
I will be doing this move only once. After that I have maintenance purge jobs that will cleanup data on a daily basis.
Integration Services :: Move Files Based On Filename?
May 12, 2015I have a requirement to move files from HOLD folder to input folder. In HOLD folder I receive multiple files starting with af, ai, ar i.e. af*.txt , ai*.txt, ar*.txt . I need to move one file at a time to input folder as each file is to be loaded into database before next file is processed. In all the files the SSIS has to look at ai*.txt files first followed by af*.txt and lastly ar*.txt. If there are multiple files of same group the file with oldest date has to be moved first. How do I achieve this?

Sep 4, 2015I have all this gray space at the top of my tasks. When I <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Left-click> to select all of my tasks and then try sliding it up, it creates even more gray space and actually moves it down. If instead when I <Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Left-click> and then <Ctrl>+<Arrow-up> it doesn't move it. Is there any easy way to eliminate all this gray space at the top?

Mar 12, 2013I attempted to use Move Directory to move the contents of one directory to another. I encountered the 'different volume' issue that others have experienced. While this error is frustrating I can work past this particular issue. My more pressing question is why is the move directory command overwriting a destination directory?
When I setup the Move directory file task I provided two vars to hold src and dest location:
dest var: estserveroutput
src var: devserverdev estfiles
Set overwrite destination = TRUE
Why would Move Directory overwrite output folder at destination? Shouldn't it only overwrite if the testfiles directory exists at destination? This is very frustrating since I cannot find enough information in the official documentation to understand what is happening here.
Is it just me or does the documentation for Move directory seem.....incomplete?

May 27, 2015I need to move specific files from a server to another server on a monthly basis. There are hundreds of files that are in the source directory and I need to move approximately 40 of those to the destination server. I would like to easily add or delete the file list as needed. I have seen where several variables were created for for each file name (and one for the path) and the ForEach Loop would go through them. With 40 or more I was thinking that I could make a connection to an Excel spreadsheet or text file with a record for each file name and read in and and move to the next record and make that value become the content of a "FileName" variable. Then if I wanted to add another file name I could just add another record to spreadsheet/text file or remove and the package would handle automatically....

Using the tool "Microsoft SQL Server Migration Assistant v6.0 for Oracle" did not work for me because there are too many warnings and errors regarding the schema creation (MS cannot know it because they are not the schema designer). My idea is to leave/skip the schema creation to the application designer/supplier and instead concentrate on the Oracle data export and MS SQL data import.
What is the easiest way to export all tables data from Oracle to MS SQL Server quickly?

May 15, 2015I am using SQL Server report 2008/2012 (SSRS) and my report viewer contains body content with 3 Row groups.
While printing the report, data print with blank space and move to continue data to next page.
Departure flight : 70 rows
First Page : 42 rows printed
Second Page : 23 rows printed [ Supposed to be print 28 , if the total count of records more than 23 and less than 42 then the page print only 23 records ]
Third Page : 5 rows printed
Departure flight : 42 rows
First Page : 42 rows printed [Report max. record allowed to print 42 rows so if total record is 42 then print perfectly ]
Departure flight : 26 rows

There is a possibility that duplicate values will be entered in the Title field of the Sharepoint list. Jun 5, 2007Please help! I am trying to import data from an ODBC data source to a SQL Server database using Integration Services. I am new to SQL Server 2005 but all was working happily on 2000 using DTS.
I am trying to follow the tutorials using a data flow task but cannot get my ODBC database into the connection managers tab, because OLE DB for ODBC isn't one of the options! Am I missing something? Any help on this would be greatly appreciated as I am struggling to come to terms with 2005 and cannot migrate the 2000 DTS packages

Apr 5, 2007Hi, I have a question regarding the Integration Services Data Types.
From http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms141036(d-printer).aspx, I found a table that shows me the Mapping of Integration Services Data Types to Database Data Types.
For example, how the DT_BOOL Data Type maps to bit for SQL Server.
In this case, I am okay, as I know exactly what the mapping is, however, for some of the datatypes, I do not.
Here is an example. The DT_CY datatype maps to smallmoney and money ... how do I know which one to map to? For me, which one I map to does indeed matter because their representation is different.
DT_NUMERIC maps to decimal and numeric ... this one does not matter as much
DT_STR/DT_WSTR ... I need to know whether its char, varchar, ncahr, or nvarchar for padding purposes mostly.
Any help would be gladly appreciated.

May 25, 2015I'm using - Destination - Oracle driver - oraOLEDB.Oracle.1 (native ole dboracle provider for ole db)
Source - SQL driver - microsoft ole db prover for sql server. I want to import data from sql server to oracle. Challenge is, I have 1 million records on oracle. I have 100 records on sql server (these 100 records count will change daily). So, I thought of using 'lookup' task looking taking record from ms sql and fetch corresponding record from oracle. But when I use lookup, all records from oracle are loading into cache, which is taking approx 3 hrs.

FirstName
1. Mandatory field checking: if Null, reject the record
2. If field length > 50, then reject the record
SSN
1. If field length > 12, then reject the record
2. If SSN is not in valid format, issue warning and process rhe record without SSN value.
3. Valid format: 9 digit numeric values should present after striping off all non-numeric characters.
4. Only send 9 digits to MDM
Like these i have 30 rules. And I have to shop the error msg if the validation fails like "Mandatory feild is missing".
Data Problems With Xml Source In Integration Services

Basically, I call a method from a Web Service which gives me a Xml file.
The problem is that the XML structure is not really good. But we can't touch it.

And when I try to use the outpul results from the Xml file, I can't see how I can get a datatable with three columns corresponding to projectid, id and name.
Integration Services only asks me to choose between WSTargetVO or ProjectID or Id or Name and give me the <value> value.
I don't know if it is possible to modifiy the contents of the XmlFile or something else using XPath.
Of course, if I try to modifiy the XSD file and delete the value node to have a simple structure, I see my three columns but i can't get any data.
I'm aware that the XML file is pretty bad but it is impossible for me to change it.
If somebody has an idea, I would be happy to hear it :-)
