I have a Send Mail Task with a message source of: [User::RecCounts]
However, when I run the package I get this error.

The SSIS Package deletes the current week's data, reloads it with fresh data, then calculates the difference between the current week and last week.
The problem is that randomly, instead of deleting the current week, it will delete the previous week. This happens maybe 5-10% of the time. At least it does until I rebuild the package and import it into SQL Server again.
I'm guessing that the Execute SQL Task is not updating the value of the Week variable before it executes. I started with the source type being a variable. Then I decided to try Direct input and pass in the Week as a parameter (OLE DB Connection Type). That didn't work either.
Most recently I tried writing the Week variable to a table first, then having a sequence container with all the tasks second. Slightly better but I still saw the date was wrong 2 times in about 90 executions. I was hoping that writing the Week variable out to the database would force an update of any associated connections to it, but that didn't seem to work.
When you pass a complex type (the one represented by class) to a web service the BIDS UI allows you to enter values for every field of that type as constants. But what if you want to pass a variable? Once again the UI allows you to specify a variable for that complex type parameter. But how to make this variable in SSIS?I understand it should have the type of Object. But how to specify what the runtime type of this object is? And how to assign all fields to that object?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am writing my first custom SSIS task and I can see that, if I put a public property into the task, I see that property in the standard Properties window. If I add a property of type String, I can put a value in that property, in the task code, and when I instantiate the task in a package, I can see the value I entered.
To try and get a drop down list property in the Properties window, I declared a property of type Combobox, and indeed a drop down list appears in that property.
My problem is trying to get values in that property. I have used the test items:
   Property.Items.add("Fred")
   Property.Items.Add("Jim")
But I do not see the values in the drop down list. All I do see is one item with a value of "(none)".
I have a conditional split in an SSIS package - one split is where if rows are returned according to a specific rule, then insert those rows into to a Recordset Destinationm which points to a variable of Object type.
How I can use this variable to email fellow users. Â For example, what I would like is if ANY rows are returned to the Object variable (1 or more), then I would like to execute an email SP that we have on our server.
I have created a File System task which is contained in a Foreach Loop Container. I have .bak files that are populating a directory from a maintenance backup plan.
There is a point where I need to delete the .bak file's after I've zipped them all up.
How do I set the SourceVariable to read through the directory and pick up just the .bak file's in the directory to delete.
Just installed VS 2005 & SQLServer 2005 clients on my workstation. When trying to create a new Integration Services Project and start work in the designer receive the MICROSOFT VISUAL STUDIO 'Object reference not set to an instance of an object.' dialog box with message "Creating project 'Integration Services project1'...project creation failed."
Previously I had SQLServer 2000 client with the little VS tool that came with it installed. Uninstalled these prior to installing the 2005 tools (VS and SQLServer).
I'm not finding any information on corrective action for this error.
Any one have this problem and found the solution?

Ok, i have a package that loops through records in a table, and extracts the detailed lines in a For Each loop. and stores them in a variable called DetailRecordSet with an data type of object.
I have a built a script task so that i can send out an email confirmation for each order, and i want to list the details in a HTML Table in the body of the message ( I have read that the standard send mail task wont support this, but found an example of using .NET code to generate the email message which will support it) .
What i want to know is how do i reference the columns in the Object variable so i can extract each line and add it into my string that i am creating with HTML codes.. I

if any can help my, that would be most appriciated.. Ive tried all different things that ive found on the net, but nothing is working.

I'm using SSIS in Visual Studio 2012. My Execute SQL Task calls a Stored Procedure where I have a TRY-CATCH. Last week there was a problem and the CATCH was executed and logged an error to my error table, but for some reason the Execute SQL Task didn't fail. Is there a setting to make the Execute SQL Task fail when an SP encounters a failure?

In trying to use a €œTransfer SQL Server Objects Task€? in a container using a transaction on the container. The task is set to support the transaction. It is setup to copy table data from several tables from a non-domain server (sql server 2000) to a domain-based server (sql server 2005). I get an error stating, €œThis task can not participate in a transaction€?.
I am wondering if it means exactly what it says €“ this task in SSIS can€™t participate at all. Or does it mean that it won€™t in this scenario for some reason. I attempted a simple copy of data from mssql 2005 to mssql 2005 (same server) and the task still failed). MSDTC appears to be running properly on my machine and such (I can do a simple distributed transaction across linked server to the 2000 server in Query Analyzer (QA)). Also, MSDTC appears to be working on both servers with distributed transaction query tests in QA.

I have a SSIS package that has a SQL task which gets a result set and stores it in an SSIS object variable. The package then iterates through that result set in a foreach Loop Container. In the loop container I have a script task and a Send Mail Task. The script task sets the contents of the email message (through an SSIS String variable).
In the dataset I have an EmployeeCode column. I need to select a single EmployeeCode and grab all the records associated with that code to create a single EmailMessage for that Employee that includes all their records. I've got that done, however the way I'm implementing it I then have to update the SSIS Object variable that holds the result set to remove those records I've already processed. Doing this causes an error at the next ForEach loop iteration stating it can't find a source.
Result Set from SQL Query (16 columns, 674 rows, 145 distinct Employeecodes)

The first iteration should be sent to email1 where the body includes set1 and set2, the second iteration sends to email2 where the body includes set3, set4, and set5 and so forth.
The SSIS ForEachLoop Container is looping through the entire Result Set and passing into the .NET Script task the EmployeeCode (readonly) and the entire Result Set (readwrite) and setting the value of EmailMessage. So I create the value of EmailMessage based on the EmployeeCode and then use the value of Email1 and EmailMessage in the SendMail Task. I was trying to delete the rows I processed so I don€™t process them the next time the ForEachLoop Executes (otherwise I'll get duplicate emails).
Or if there's a different way to do this, I'm open to that as well.
See below for the code I'm using (colEmployeeCode is a ReadOnlyVariable and rsRecipients and EmailMessage are ReadWriteVariables in the Script Task).

I've encountered a new problem with an SSIS Pkg where I have a seq. of Execute SQL tasks. My question are:
1) In the First Execute SQL Task, I want to store a single row result of @@identity type into a User Variable User::LoadID of What type. ( I tried using DBNull Type or Object type which works, not with any other type, it but I can't proceed to step 2 )
2) Now I want to use this User::LoadID as input parameter of What type for the next task (I tried using Numeric, Long, DB_Numeric, Decimal, Double none of there work).
Please give me solutions for the above two..
I have an SSIS package that creates a csv file based on a execute sql task.
The sql is incredibly simple select singlecolumn from table.
In the properties of the execute sql task I specify the result set as "full result set" when I run it I get the error that: Error:
The type of the value being assigned to variable "User::CSVoutput" differs from the current variable type.
Variables may not change type during execution. Variable types are strict, except for variables of type Object.
If I change the resultset to single row then I only get the first row from the DB (same if I choose none), If I choose XML then I get the error that the result is not xml. What resultset type do I need to choose in order to get all the rows into the CSV? The variable I am populating is of type string and is User::CSVoutput

I have Excel source and OLE DB Destination.I have problem with importing CustomerSales column.CustomerSales values like 1000.00,2000.10,3000.30,NotAvailable.So I have decimal values and nvarchar mixed in on Excel column. Trying to move data in Sybase IQ from one database (prod) to qa for a table. Using ADO.NET connection and just one Data Flow task , source , destination. Using Sybase IQÂ driver.
Error:[ADO NET Destination [2]] Error: An exception has occurred during data insertion, the message returned from the provider is: Unable to cast object of type 'System.Decimal' to type 'System.Char[]'.
Nether source or target table have column with data type Decimal or Char. All types I have in table are numeric (54,15) , bigint, varchar, date. Â
When i use single object variable to pass it to two sequence container having 2 different  Foreach ADO Enumerator; seems like the scope of the variable is completed once sequence container 1 is done and second fails with below error

It works fine if i push the data to 2 different object variables.
I built a small package two years ago that uses Flat File Sources to copy in small text data files. Â Each source connection object has a UNC path to flat text files on another server. Â The source system changed, so I opened the package and updated the UNC path in one Connection Manager object, and clicked OK. The Flat File Source Editor that uses this source seemed to be able to see the new location when I clicked "Preview". Â Then I went back to the file source, and the connection had reverted back to the original one. Â it would not save the new UNC path. Â
I am using SQL Server 2012 SP2 with SSDT (run as admin). Â I closed the package in SSDT, edited the connection strings using XMLnotepad, and was then able to open, test, build and deploy the package.
It seems that the Source object will not let itself be changed. Â The other option is to delete it and recreate it, but I didn't want to remap the fields.
Why updating a connection object is not working?
I've got this issue with a query in SSIS. From a table in SQL Server I'm getting over 25000 different identifiers. These identifier are associated to many values in a table in  one Oracle Database. This is the schema that I have implemented for doing this.
The problem is that some days the identifiers can be over 45000, and at this point perform a loop for every one is not the best solution (It can take to much time to get the result). Previously I have performed another query where from the SQL statement.
I am creating and sending a unique row with all the values concatenated and then I have recover this unique string from an object and use it to create the query in the ODBC Source that invoke the table in Oracle: something like this:
'Select * from Oracle_table' + @string_values
with @string_values = 'where value in (........)'. It works good because the number of values is small enough to be used, like 250. But in this case I can not use this approach because the number is really big and obviously the DBA of Oracle is going to cancel the query.
So I wonder, how can I iterate over the object getting only a few number of values everytime, something like 300 or maximum 500, to avoid the cancellation of the query but at the same time doing the minimum number of loops.
I've created a SSIS package which takes a matrix from Excel file and insert into SQL table. It works perfectly! However, if I would add a new column into that matrix in Excel. Unpivot tool should take into process dynamically. Is there a way to provide this automatically?Â
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am developing a table driven ETL system, where I store large PL/SQL queries in a varchar(max) field.  I read the field into an object variable at the package level using a SQL task.  Next I have a C# script task that creates a connection to our Oracle database using the Oracle provider.  I am trying to set the Command.Text property to the PL/SQL statement I've stored in the package level object variable, but I'm having difficulty getting the Pl/SQL text back out of the object.
I've tried Object.value.tostring, but it just returns a generic "system__text". how I can proceed?

Using "Integration Services Project" template in Business Intelligence Studio. Using platforms Visual Studio 2005 along with SQL Server 2005.
Getting the error while trying to execute package after loading it programmaticaly.
I've just one task "Transfer SQL Server Objects Task" on my Integration Services package. But when I try to execute it from VS 2005 project programmaticaly, it gives the above mentioned error.
The commands I use:

I have a developer here that created an SSIS package that contains a Send Mail Task. When this developer runs the package in the Business Intelligence Development Studio (BIDS) the send mail task runs without issue. But when he tries to run it using command line and the DTEXEC program it errors out with the following error message:

A variable abc has been defined with sql script Select firstName,LastName from Employee.I need to edit the variable and add a where condition like SELECT firstName,lastName FROM employee where Name like '%Fr%' I tried to replace it with new script and saved also but when i ran the package it was still using the old sql script .
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have a SSIS package where im importing data from MS access database file .MDB. I chose Microsoft JET 4.0 OLEDB provider. When i select a table and preview the data, im getting the below error.
Error at Data Flow Task [OLE DB Source [1]]: SSIS Error Code DTS_E_OLEDBERROR. An OLE DB error has occurred. Error code: 0x80040E09.

But it is working for the other tables .
I have tried with this thing for hours and I can't get it to parse.
Trying to get last year so the expression should evaluate today as of "12/31/2014"
I looked all over on Google and couldn't find an expression to copy so I've been playing with it.

Why the index value is used in variable mapping while using for each loop container. In one of ssis package I saw the index value as 2. What 2 indicates in index?
