Intercept SQL : Spy / Driver-level / SQL Server Log...

Jul 20, 2005

Hello all,

We need to reverse engineer a very large application written in
PowerBuilder / SQL Server to port to .NET.

We have only binaries of application not source code.

What are tools / log facilitites / spy appliations that shall allow us
to see exact SQL that is being carried by driver to SQL server ? Can
we see that in the ASCII form before it gets complied at Server end?

Thanks for your time.

Data Driver Subscriptions At The Folder Level

Nov 1, 2007

HI All,

I have created around 150 reports using SSRS. I just made a new data drive subscription(file sharing) using report manager. Now I'm wondering is there any option to make subscription at the higher level? That means instead of subscribing one report by one report , can I do it at the folder lever using report manager without writting a programm?

Thanks

Intercept Result

Jun 5, 2006

Hi,

I am trying to write a system (Stored Proc, View, CLR Proc, ???), where if you query a specific table and it returns data from only 1 column for the submitted SELECT statement then substitute data obtained from an external web service.

Does anyone have any suggestions about how best to implement this? I have searched through the BOL but nothing directly deals with what I want to do.

Thanks,

Blair

P.S. I am using SQL SERVER 2005 ENT Edition with everything available.

Compatible Versions Of Ms SQL Server, ODBC Driver, Driver Manager And ODBC API Spec

Oct 28, 2004

Hi,

Please help share with me if you know the version compatibility matrix of Ms SQL Server, ODBC driver (sqlsrv32.dll), Driver Manager (odbc32.dll) and ODBC API spec. For instance, how can I know Ms SQL Server 2000 can work with which version of sqlsrv32.dll, a particular version of sqlsrv32.dll can work with which version of odbc32.dll and a certain version of sqlsrv32.dll/odbc32.dll conforms to which version of ODBC API spec (e.g. 3.5).

Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks,

Intercept Pipeline Events Programmatically

Dec 20, 2006

Hello,

I'm wish to receive pipeline events fired by a SSIS package.

I execute the package successufully with the following code (c#):

MyEventListener eventListener = new XplorerEventListener();
DtsApplication app = new DtsApplication();
Package pkg = app.LoadPackage("c: est.dstx", null);
pkg.Execute(null, null, eventListener, null, null);

MyEventListener is inherited from DefaultEvents, overriding all OnXXX methods.

It works perfectly, however I cannot intercept the following events:

- PipelineExecutionTrees
- PipelineExecutionPlan
- PipelineExecutionInitialization
- BufferSizeTuning
- PipelineInitialization

Anyone knows how to catch those pipeline events?
TIA,
Paolo.

Data Mining :: ARIMA Equation Intercept Interpretation

Sep 6, 2015

I get an ARIMA equation in a form like below:

ARIMA ({1,-6.88479117532726E-02,-0.41430691637436},0,{1,4.42986549117398E-03}) X ({1,-0.473450289323228},0,{1,0.013772719862356,-2.14724317829266E-02,-4.80711350511344E-02,-1.15173259713497E-02,-9.86142925337024E-03,1.06803677786174})(6)
Intercept:18561.1721123981

I do understand the coefficients part and the seasonal part as well, however, I have trouble deciphering what exactly is the intercept here. Initially, I thought it would be equivalent to the value of mu in the original Box-Jenkins equation (so indicate a level), then I thought it's an intercept for the AR terms. It seems that none of these interpretations is good. The only official explanation I found at msdn was:

"Normally, the intercept (VALUETYPE = 11) or residual in a regression equation tells you the value of the predictable attribute, at the point where the input attribute, is 0. In many cases, this might not happen, and could lead to counterintuitive results.

For example, in a model that predicts income based on age, it is useless to learn the income at age 0. In real-life, it is typically more useful to know about the behavior of the line with respect to average values. Therefore, SQL Server Analysis Services modifies the intercept to express each regressor in a relationship with the mean.

This adjustment is difficult to see in the mining model content, but is apparent if you view the completed equation in the Mining Legend of the Microsoft Tree Viewer. The regression formula is shifted away from the 0 point to the point that represents the mean. This presents a view that is more intuitive given the current data. Therefore, assuming that the mean age is around 45, the intercept (VALUETYPE = 11) for the regression formula tells you the mean income.

[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data Source Name Not Found And No Default Driver Specified

Oct 19, 2006

trying to install sql server2005 on a windows 2003 server box.

getting msg below at the sql server . i looked at other posts on trying to uninstall SQL Native Access Client and norton antivirus. i could never find the snac on the add - remove programs and this server does not have a virus protection program yet.

here's the history of the installs on the server:

wanted to test a 2005 upgrade so:

1) installed sql server 2000 then sp4 then restored some databases to it - all OK

2) tried to upgrade to sql 2005 but ran into problems and left it at that.

had a disk drive crash on the d drive so lost the installs but not the operating system

when the drive was replaced, left alone for a while

then wanted to test a straight 2005 install

1) removed the broken 2005 attempt

2) removed the 2000

3) installed 2005 and got the error on the subject line:

TITLE: Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Setup
------------------------------

SQL Server Setup could not connect to the database service for server configuration. The error was: [Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified Refer to server error logs and setup logs for more information. For details on how to view setup logs, see "How to View Setup Log Files" in SQL Server Books Online.

i've gone through as many of the forums that i can and have tried several things - like uninstalling 2005 and installing pieces and parts but but nothing seems to work.

Thanks!

Sql2005 ODBC Driver Manager Data Source Name Not Found And No Default Driver Specified

Feb 4, 2008

i am attempting to run phpbb using ms sql 2005 on the same box but get the following error during the setup

Could not connect to the database, see error message below.
[Microsoft][ODBC Driver Manager] Data source name not found and no default driver specified

i am not sure yet if this is an issue with sql, php or phpbb

php is installed in iis and has all the modules installed which the php msi installer supported. i can run php code but in this case when i'm running the install.php file for the phphbb setup, i fill in the values for the database and got that error

phpbb detects all the required server settings and sees that i have ms sql installed

any suggestions on what that error means or how to go about configuring odbc driver?

probably a simple issue. but i'm still new with sql stuff

Help! SQL Server Error - [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server] Invalid Object Name ...

Jul 23, 2005

Dear all,On Win2000 server with SP3, I am trying to access a SQL Server 7.0database, "TestDB", from VB6 via a SQL Server ODBC system DSN using ADO2.7. In SQL Server Enterprise Manager, there is a login named "Tester".In its property window, NO "Server Roles" was assigned but its"Database Access" was set to "TestDB". This login was also made as theuser of "TestDB" with "public", "db_datareader" and "db_datawriter"selected as its "Database role membership". All the tables I am tryingto access in "TestDB" were created under "Tester".My code is like:Set conn = New ADODB.Connectionconn.Open "DSN=TestDSN;UID=Tester;PWD=test"Set cmd = New ADODB.Commandcmd.ActiveConnection = conncmd.CommandText = SQLset rs = cmd.Execute()If I set the SQL to something like "SELECT * FROM tbl_test", I alwaysget an error of "-2147217865" saying "[Microsoft][ODBC SQL ServerDriver][SQL Server] Invalid object name tbl_test". If I set the SQL to"SELECT * FROM Tester.tbl_test", everything runs properly. Could anyoneplease kindly advise why the first SQL is not working? Or in otherwords, why must I prefix the table name with its owner while the DBconnection is already made under that owner name? Thanks in advance.Tracy

1[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server Does Not Exist Or Access Denied.

Jul 26, 2007

Hi,

when I was sending 50 simultaneous connections to the web services, I got these 2 errors:
- "1[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB]SQL Server does not exist or access denied. "

- "An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: TCP Provider, error: 0 - A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.)"

Everything worked fine if I ran 10 simultaneous connections. I am using Microsoft ACT to load test the web service. The database is SQL Server 2000. Any idea about why this is happening?

Appreciate your help! Thanks!

ODBC SQL Server Driver TCP/IP Sockets SQL Server Does Not Exist Or Access Denied

Dec 3, 2004

I am running Windows 2003 Standard edition with IIS and SQL 2000 SP3a installed on it.

The web clients use ASP pages which use DSN to connect to SQL 2000 database. It has been working fine since last 1.5 years except 2 days ago when I faced this error suddenly on server:

In accessing any ASP page, it said:

[Microsoft][ODBC_SQL_Server_Driver][TCP/IP_Sockets_SQL_Server_does_not_exist_or_access_den ied.

On SQL Server error log, this was the entry at that time which I found:

SQLServer Error: 17, SQL Server does not exist or access denied. [SQLSTATE 08001]

The server (including SQL Server and agent service) were last stopped atleast a couple of days before, so it was not the problem about startup.

To troubleshoot, I restarted SQL Server and it worked for some time.

Then again on ASP pages, I found this error:

|80004005|[Microsoft][ODBC_SQL_Server_Driver][TCP/IP_Sockets]General_network_error._Check_your_network_document ation.

I checked the error logs of SQL server and didn't find anything.
Only entries were that the SQL is starting database, ports and IPs on which it is listening etc. The usual stuff. No errors in starting.

The SQL Agent log showed following errors:

2004-11-30 04:45:33 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 2, ConnectionOpen (Connect()). [SQLSTATE 01000]
2004-11-30 04:45:33 - ! [382] Logon to server '(local)' failed (JobManager)
2004-11-30 04:45:36 - ! [298] SQLServer Error: 17, SQL Server does not exist or access denied. [SQLSTATE

I don't understand what was the problem. It first occured when nothing on server was changed, next it occured 30-32 hours later, and still now it hasn't happened again.

Does anyone know what can be wrong?

Thanks.

I have installed SQL Server 2005 Express on my desktop (Win 2000 Pro.)

errors out:

I believe the error is from SQL Server and not from ODBC driver.

I am also only able to connect by using my own userid (the one that I am connected to my desktop): domainuserid, and then I am only able to connect to 'master' db:

Can I Use SQL Server 2005 Driver For PHP On X64 2003 Server As 64bit Application?

Nov 21, 2007

I'm sorry to bother you.

Now I'm trying to run PHP web application on x64 2003 Server with Microsoft SQL Server 2005. The version of PHP is 5.2.3. and the web application should be run as 64bit applications. Since there seems no way to use php_mssql.dll on the environment, I'm trying to use SQL Server 2005 Driver for PHP but when PHP loads php_sqlsrv.dll, an error has occurd and there's a following message in an error log...

PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'c:phpextphp_sqlsrv.dll' - %1 is not a valid Win32 application

From this message, I thought the distributed libraries for Windows would be for a Win32 environment but there seemed no information that says the libraries run on Win32 environment only.

I really appriciate if you help me.
Thank you.

SQL Server 2005 Driver For PHP - Why?

Jan 29, 2008

Hello, I'm setting up a new PHP environment in Windows with IIS and this is the first I've seen of Microsoft's MS SQL driver for PHP. I'm debating on whether I should use this or the extension that PHP has included for many years. I'm just curious, why are they doing this? There must be some improvement over PHP's built in MS SQL functions, right? Performance Improvements? Functionality Improvements? Is this going to be a supported driver for many years (think PHP6 and beyond)?

Thanks!
