I am using Reporting Services 2000. I would like to know if there is a way to invoke the rdl files from within the code(application) by passing parameter values and export them programmatically to PDF/Excel formats?

I have been using Microsoft Business Intelligence for 1st time. This software has been able to create my reports based on a table I have. But note, this report is built using Business Intelligence (Visual Studio). Now, the Report pulls data from a database. I also have a C# application that interfaces with this same database. What I would like to do is to display the content of this report in my C# application. How do I go about doing this?

we have a new requirement that calls for also (in addition to RS's automatic directory updates) updating an organizational application database with metatdata about instances of scheduled reports, or alternatively having our app query RS's metadata for such info.
So, let's say we have a report called Sales Detail, and it runs at 8am every day of the week for client A thru the scheduling mechanism that comes with RS. Each time it runs to completion, an entry would have to be made in our organizational database representing a new run (instance) of the report under the client for whom it was run, in this case A.
Forgetting for the moment potential issues with a reporting system interfering with the transactional, or vice versa, can datasets in RS also do updates?...or can the scheduling mechanism in RS be extended to also log info to other places?...or is the metadata kept by RS (about instances of reports) easy to get to and decipher, and possibly be extended to record for which client this particular instance was run?

default web site runs as a 2.0 application in a 2.0 application pool, the reports and reportserver run in application pool for 1.1
after adding the entries necessary to run ASP.NET AJAX stuff on my default web site the report manager and server both error out when trying to browse to
http://server/reports or http://server/reportserver
do I need to add something into the ReportManager web.config?

When trying to open the reports server \servername
eports we are getting an error page titled "Server Error in '/Reports' Application." The server has been restarted, and as this is a new deployment, there has been very little access for individuals to make changes.
Any ideas on how to resolve the problem?

this error is when Report directory is set for "DefaultAppPool",
but in "ClassicAppPool" i get another error:

we have an existing .c file and we have to include sql statements in it...
if we include sql statements it has to be stored as .ec file...
so we have to create a .ec file separately and include this into the .c program
but only .c and .h files can be included in .c programs so we converted .ec to .c file using esql command
now after incluing the .c file into the program we dont get any error but we are getting some junk output....

I have written a SQL CLR procedure, which will be invoking the webservice..I developed the application locally and it works fine, I am able to invoke the webservice using the SQL CLR procedure present in my database. But when i hosted the webservice in App server and executed the SQL CLR procedure in DB Server.
From DB Server, I am not able to invoke the webservice present in the app server. But i am able to browse the webservice from my db server.

I have to invoke a batch file (.bat) when an ad-hoc report is executed. I've currently written a .Net code for invoking (using System.Diagnostics.Process) the batch file. The rdl file calls the method.
When I run the report from Report Designer the batch file is getting executed. But if I deploy it in the Reporting Server and run the report through Web Interface the batch file is not getting executed.
Looks like some security issue. Can someone provide a solution for this?

Instead of runing a report through the schedule that I have created, I am invoking the SQL Agent Job that has been created for the schedule of the report, using the system stored procedure sp_startjob. Is this a recommended approach? Are there drawbacks for this approach?

I recently installed SQL Server 2005 Enterprise on a machine running Server 2003. I have successfully configured Reporting Services (see below for summary of settings)
- Used the defaults for the Repor tServer and Report Manager Virtual Directories
- Windows Service Identity set to domain user. The domain user is part of the administrator group on the machine and has sysadmin rights to the database
- Web Service Identity set to NT AuthorityNetworkService
When I open http://localhost/reports/, I get the following error:

Dear all,i'm facing a problem with my storedprocedure which happened when i ran my web application and reach to the point where my class invoke this storedprocedure,my SP contains a cursor that built his sql according to certain condition, so i put the "SET @cur Cursor For....." inside the if block (definitely i've declared it under AS keyword directly) and this SP is working well inside sql server(I've tested it), BUT when my ASP.net code invoke this SP it gives me the following error : "The Variable @cur does not currently have a cursor allocated to it" repeated as much as there are IF clauses in my SP,Please Help.Regards,

The problem I am facing is to integrate the login between both applications. I have a database that has the USER table with the PASSWORD encrypted and I've been already developed a Class Library with all the needs of Cryptography that has been used by the ASP.net application to authenticate users. The thing is, the desktop application has to authenticate the users too with the very same cryptography method, but Dephi cannot use dotNet assemblies (?). The client of the application ask to not use a web service and I'm trying to do this cryptography on the data base.The question is: Is there any way to invoke a dotNet Class Library through a SQL Server 2000 Stored Procedure?Consider that the Dephi developers had researched some ways to use dotNet assembly inside their application with no success. They had tried to develop their own cryptography method based on the algorithm that I had said them, but the encrypted string is different. Cognos or other options to all the Reporting Services and its components offered as part ofSQL Server, especially as to extracting data from SQL Server into a report format?
I guess this is a far as capabilites, ease of use, limitations, and especially formatting
or presentation of the end report product?

I have an already published application running several MS SQL Server 2000 Reporting Services report.
I need a way to find from either the reporting services log or the application server (IIS) logs or windows log
to know the frequency of each report being used.
Based on this info, the business needs to know which reports are being used and to what extend?
How can I acheive this?
I have already got the IIS logs and it did not give the required info.
I have looked into the Reporting Services logs but it does not provide the info either.
Any help is appreciated

Hi does anyone know how to do the above with out going through reportserver url?
Preferably by using a cmd tool ? such rs.exe
or through the backend in the reportserver DB?

My issue is with converting multi-value parameters:
In Crystal Reports, you can set a parameter to accept multiple vales (Discrete, Range or Discrete and Range).
As an example:
I have a database table with a column called ID.
I can create a parameter called param_id and set the options of the parameter to "Allow multiple range values".
With this setup, I can limit the result set of the report by comparing the param_id parameter to the ID column in the database. Because param_id is a multi-value range parameter, I can pass it the following data:
1 - 50
60 - 80
150 - 127
This will only return results within those ranges.
Does anyone know if SSRS provides this kind of functionality?

Is there a way to copy reports from other users "My reports" folder? I am logging onto the management studio reporting services using an administrative account and I am able to view the reports from all users' "My Reports" folder. But I am not able to export them as an rdl file. I am able to export reports from other common folders, but not from the "My Reports" folder.
The reason I need to do this is some of the users have created some reports in one environment and the reports are available in their respective "My Reports" folder. I need to move these reports to their corresponding "My Reports" folder in another environment.
Is there a way to do this?

Hi all,
I have two problems.
1. I downloaded ChartFXRSTrial and created one chart, and able to deploy it in ReportServer, but the problem is the reports are not showing there, i checked the configuration of .dll files in the help provided by chartFX, but couldn't get anything, so could help me on this.
2. How to give Tooltip for the X- axis or Y- axis values in the ReportServer , i tried using chartproperties of .rdl file, but didnt understand it. can help me on this, and one more i tried with Dundas too, If im giving tooltip as #valy then, it is showing samething in reportserver instead the values of 'Y-axis'.

don't know if it's the right place for this question but i hope you help me.
I made an application with VS 2005 that connecting to sql server file db.mdf
Now i want this application work on another user computer, and of course i don't want to install vs 2005 there.
I did install .net framework, but what i need to do to make the database work? do i have to install sql server on his computer? or is there something more simple?
I know that if i was using access file than i need to install nothing else.
please help!
