Is There A Way To Load A 6.5 Db Dump To A 7.0 Server? (eom)

A Dump (and Load) Question...

Mar 21, 2000

For restoring a SQL Server 6.5 backup is it necessary to know information
about the database being backed up like devices used, space on each device etc.?

I have tried restoring from backups without recreating the device structure for original
database and it works (atleast for simple cases) but documentation says that device
structure needs to be re-created.

Unable To Load Dump

Apr 6, 1999

Using SQL Enterprise Manager on a ver 6.5 system we get error message 3101 when trying to restore a database using the 'restore from device' option. The error says 'Database in use. System Administrator must have exclusive use of database to run load.'.
The dbo does have exclusive use. There is no one else in the database, and there are no open transactions in the db. DBCC checks also indicate no errors in the db.
We need to restart SQL server to be able to load the dump.
NT Perfmon is running on the server monitoring SQL objects, but even shutting this does not allow the load to proceed.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Operator Aborted Dump Or Load

Mar 22, 1999

Hi all,

I have scheduled a daily db backup (i.e. dump database) and it has been running successfully for the last couple of months.
However I have the following message this morning :
Operator aborted dump or load. (Message 3204)

For the transaction dump (which has been running fine too),
the following message appears :
DUMP TRANsaction is not allowed while the trunc. log on chkpt. option is enabled: use DUMP DATABASE, or disable the option with sp_dboption. (Message 4208)

I have done a dump transaction with truncate_only and re-do the dump database. However the same error msg still occurs.

Appreciate any advice.
Thanks

Load Headeronly From Logbackup Dump Device

Feb 16, 1999

I'm trying to capture the info that gets passed back from the 'load headeronly from logbackup' command in a script that I'm writing. The MS Transact-SQL reference specifies that this info is passed back in a table, a row for each dump on the given dump device. I'm looking for the SQL construct that will allow me to capture this info as variables in my script for processing. I've tried to create a temp table that mirrors the info returned and insert into this table by executing the load command but syntactically it is not correct(with that syntax the compiler assumes that the load command is a stored procedure and can't locate it) Specifically, I'm trying to capture info from the dump transaction with no_truncate command.
It appears the dump info does not go the the msdb..sysbackuphistory table when the no_truncate option is used. This dump info can only be obtained thru the load headeronly command. Any thoughts on how to code the sql to capture this info?

Loading SP 5a Dump Onto Server Running SP 4

Oct 5, 1999

I looked for an answer in the archives and could not find one.
Does anyone know if it is ok or works loading a database dump
from one SQL server running SP 5a (production server) onto another SQL server running SP 3 (backup server)? We were not planning to upgrade our production and backup servers simultaneously unless there would be a problem loading the
database dumps.

Thanks you in advance.

SQL Server 2008 :: How To Set Up Triggers After SSIS Dump

May 11, 2015

I am would like for a Trigger to fire after an SSIS job finishes.

My understanding is that i would use a AFTER trigger.

How my UPDATE and INSERT INTO would fire and only affect the new rows.

SET ARITHABORT OFF
SET ANSI_WARNINGS OFF

UPDATE [GDev].[dbo].[tblCIDetailsTest]
SET dFRate = (dFCharge/(dSCharge+dACharge))

Also need to INSERT INTO 3 columns from a Table called tblFinanceP by looking up/Union or Join (not sure what to use) called vcTNum that is in bother the tblFinacneP and tblCIDetailsTest.

INSERT INTO [GDev].[dbo].[tblCIDetailsTest] AS Details
SELECT iPNum, iPCount, iZone
FROM [GrEDI].[dbo].[tblFinanceP] AS EDI
where EDI.vcTNum = GDev.dbo.tblCIDetailsTest.vcTN

Windows 2000 Sp4 && SQL Server 2000 Causes Java Core Dump

Sep 7, 2007

I've just started getting this EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION (0xc0000005) on machines using Windows 2000 sp4 connecting to SQLServer. This is crashing JVMs (multiple Sun versions and BEA also) in the Java VM frame (outside our code). This has just started recently - perhaps with the last set of patches? Has anyone else seen this or know what I could do to get more information? Could this be related to updates to named pipes?

Thanks!

And by the way, i have another question. From that PDF files link, is there any way that we could call that pdf files and print that files from SQL script or SQL store procedure. Thanks a lot

MSSQL Dump

Oct 26, 2005

I am trying to dump my mssql DB so I can upload it to my web server.

I am using SQLDump v3.0b1 from sourceforge.net.

My problem is, when generating the dump file, any value greater than 1000 in a money column is set to 1.0000 in the dump file.

Does anyone know of a better program I should be using or a way for me to correct this?

My DB is huge and it would take far too much time to go through the dump file and correct the changed values.

Any help would be appreciated,

Thanx
