Reporting Services :: Grouping A Table Inside A Table Cell - SSRS Report
Jun 10, 2015I have a report where in I want to show each record on a separate page.
So, to achieve that I took a single cell from table control, expanded it and used all the controls in that single cell. This looks nice so far.
Now, I also have to show a sub grid on each record. So I took a table control and added on the same single cell and tried to add a parent group to the table row.
When I preview, it throws this error.
"The tablix has a detail member with inner members. Detail members can only contain static inner members."
What am I doing wrong? How can I achieve table grouping inside a table cell?

Hi,
I'm working with MRS and I've got a table with a lot of entries. For each value in the table I'm trying to get the text colour to be set to 'red' when the value of the cell is less than 0. Otherwise remain black.
I can do this by setting the colour property cell by cell. But I have a lot of cells in the table. Is there a way to set the statement to apply to ALL cells in the table?
Basically I'm asking if there is a way to set the property in bulk instead of going through tediously cell by cell.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
SSRS Fixed Table Size

I am trying to find a way to fix the size of a table in SSRS
so that it would not push any items underneath it when it grows, due to
multi-row data set.
I have set the canGrow = false property of all the text
boxes in the table, but this did not help.
Does anyone know if it is possible to force a fixed size of
the table and how it is done?

Bloated File Size - Export To Excel In SSRS 2005

When I export a report to XLS, I get a huge file size, and performance really takes a hit.
When I copy the Excel Data, and Paste Special - Values into a new excel, the file size shrinks considerably again.
When I export to CSV instead, the file size is halved, and the processing time comes down from 5-6 mins to 10 seconds.
I use SQl 2005 with SP2, so some of the old problems with RS2000 do not apply.
I suspect SSRS uses XML to export to excel. Is there some way I can get over this problem?

Auto-grow Option Isn't Working
Jul 20, 2005We're using SQL2000 on Windows 2000 Server, but this is a problemwe've had on one particular database since SQL7 on NT4.The database in question is set to autogrow by 10% (currently sittingat 31Gb total size). However, last week users complained of aslowdown in performance. When we checked we found that only 14Mb wasfree on the database (we thought it would've grown automaticallybefore then), and when we added an additional 1Gb manually performancepicked up.Does SQLServer wait until all the space is used up (i.e. 0% free)before autogrowing? Even at that, we've never actually had thedatabase grow automatically - we've always had to add space manually.Settings on this database, and one that does grow automatically,appear to be the same (have also checked via sp_helpdb). So wheredoes the problem lie?Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated.

I'm currently using SQL Server 2005. Before I have set my database on unrestricted auto growth. But today, I have noticed that the Log file has been set to limit its growth to 2,097,152 MB. I have 160GB space for my log files, I just want to maximize the space for logs in my hard drive.
When I try to change the settings back to auto growth it still keeps on returning to its previous setting it is still set on 2,097,152 MB. What I did was :
Right Click on the Database - Properties - Files - Click the (...) - set the auto growth option to unrestricted - Click Ok
But when I checked log file, it is still set on 2,097,152MB.
Can some one help me change the settings of my Database.

Mar 27, 2014I have a SSRS 2012 tablix that contains some charts which are by default set to hidden until such time as the corresponding field is clicked. What I want to do is that when the chart is hidden shrink the row height to the height of the text in the rest of the row and when it is made visible expand the row height to accommodate the chart height in the row.
Is this possible and if so how?

And I'm getting "MODIFY FILE failed. Specified size is less than current size." I tried going into the database properties and setting the log file to 2M, but it doesn€™t keep the changes.

What I'd like to do is:

Since the cells are text, this does not work. Since the cell to be updated is in an already exitant row, it's not possible to simply use insert.
I'd like to do something like (PSEUDOcode):
WRITETEXT(table1.A_TEXT_COLUMN, READTEXT(@textptr_initialised_to_point_at_target_c ell))
But the *actual* synatx of WRITETEXT and READTEXT seem totally inappropriate for any such trick...
Any hints or pointers HUGELY appreciated... THANX
How Do I Enter NULL In A Table Cell In The Enterprise Manager UI For Table Data Entry?
Sep 9, 2005I have a column defined as smalldatetime. Default length (4), and "allow NULLS" is checked.In the Enterprise Manager UI, when i enter data into that table row, if i just tab past that column, all is well, and the value is represented in the UI as <NULL>.The problem comes once i ever enter a date into that column. Say i have entered a date (all is well), and now i want to remove that entry and go back to NULL (after the date value has been committed, different entry session, say).How is that done?It seems to me, once a date has ever been entered into that column, now, if i try to remove it, i get the error "The value you entered is not consistant with the data type or length of the column, or over grid buffer limit". I have tried deleting the value, entering spaces, entering the string NULL or the string <NULL>; maybe some other tries as well, but none works, i always get that error message and am not allowed to proceed past that cell until i restore a date value to it. I want to get back to <NULL>.Anybody know?Thank you.Tom

I know it may seem silly, but I have to ask:
Will specifying ths size (i.e. 4) eventually stop the auto-icnrement of the underlying primary key SomeID in the SQL Server 2005 database?
What restriction, if any, does this place if the next SomeID value is 10000, which is 5 digits? or 999999, which is 6 digits?

Jan 28, 2014A customer use SCSM 2012 RTM and recently they changed the password of the account that connects with the datasources that use Service Manager to generate reports. There are several datasources namely DWStagingAndConfig, ConfigurationManager, DWDataMart and other ones.The process to change the password of the account, done via web in the SSRS URL instance of Service Manager, requires to enter in the Manage option of each DataSource and replace the password with the right one in the Properties section; is a really simple step. However, after the change, the only Datasource that not allows to access again to the Manage option is DWStagingAndConfig (appears a message that points out to a report server internal error);I append a extract of the SSRS log related to the problem with this Datasource.

Jul 30, 2015Below is list of Date/Time which is my output in SQL Management Studio. When I move this into SSRS and use the DateTime custom function it shows the the Date/Time correctly if there is a time element. However it's defaulting the 00:00:00.000 to 12:00:00 PM which is incorrect.
I would like the SSRS to show as Format dd/MM/yyyy hh:mm but still show the 00:00 element.

Grouping ON A Table In SSRS 2005
Oct 15, 2007I have a table that will always return 6 records. I would like to group the table, such that the first 3 records, are GROUPED Together first, do the sub-total on these 3 records first. Then the last 3 records are grouped together. and then the sub-total on the last 3 records. Is there a way I can do that in SSRS 2005?

Jun 15, 2006I installed sql 2005 a while back. Then I recently found out my file system was fat32 (I don't understand why the hardware people did this...) and I had to convert to NTFS. Naturally the sql service no longer worked so I uninstalled inorder to reinstall now I can't reinstall it I keep getting this message

A few months back i saw a sample rds file where there was a kind of line graph in a table cell
that indicated how much percent a sales person had to the complete sale figure.
But i cannot find the link anymore.
I would like to have such a linge graph next to all my agents that indicates a value againts a total value.
Does anybody has any pointers where i could find that info ?

Hello,
In my .NET.ASP application I generate a random five digit password, like so:
string password = Membership.GeneratePassword(5, 1);
The result could be a password like "0l$IE" and I the save this password to an SQL server. The problem is however that with the generated password five blanks are also added. Instead of "0l$IE" I get "0l$IE ". I hope you understand what I mean? Is there an easy way to correct this?
