Run the SSIS import/export wizard.
(xls -> sql table)
Select the tasks created.
Copy.
Here is the error that occurs.
p.s. Does anyone have any needles I can borrow? I think sticking them in my eyes would be nicer than working with SSIS.

I uploaded my repot to the report manager.
How can I get the URL of my report in runtime (through vbscript?)?
I want to use it later as a parameter.
Greetings,
I have a very wide report of more than 20 inches. I've placed several parameter values in the report header section so that the user can see what filters have been applied to the data. The testboxes shift their position several inches to the right when the report is run from the Report Manager.
Is there a way to make sure that a textbox is displayed at an absolute position? I thought maybe there would be a property on the report or body object that controls this but I don't see one.
Thanks for your help,
BCB
Hello All,
Unfortunatelly, I am a very newbie when it comes to SQL Server Reporting Rervices
I'm currently working on a prototype for a GIS system. It is a web application where the user can select and scroll certain maps (will look like google maps).
The user can print the currently displayed view of the map (including some other data) via a report using the SQL Server Reporting Services infrastructure.
As far as I know, it is possible to add images on the report at built time (using url, database or file in project). Is it also possible to add an image at runtime by passing as parameter? My idea is that when the user wants to print the report, the url to the image of the map would be send to the server and the server would call the report, passing the url of the user. And the report is printed with the image referenced by that url?
I hope, that you understand somehow, what my problem is... I tried to search this forum, but couldn't find any ideas.
Best regards
Christian
Hi All,
I have written a Query and Stored Procedure in SQL 2000 which fetched around 15 Lac data. It takes around 17 seconds to fetch the data in the Query Analyzer. But when i am using the Query/Stored Procedure in the report and I have deployed it in the server. When i am accessing the report in the application it taking around 2-3 minutes to bind the data.
What might be the issue? My tables in the database has been normalized.
Please help me to sort out this problem.
Regards
In both VB6 and VB2005 Both are loaded on same computer. When attempting to write to an access database table using ADO I get a runtime error: -2147217887(80040e21) "mutiple-step operation generates errors. Check each status value. " Reading the database is no problem. I only get the errors when writting to database. I have used the following code forever in VB6 and never got this error. Now that I have Visual Studio 2005 loaded on the same machine. I get this error. I get the exact same error when using this code in VB2005. I know VB6 but am just learning 2005. The following code is writting to a database table from various user imputed text and combo boxes. I used basicly the same code in VB2005 and get the same exception error. This code works on machines that do not have VB .net loaded. How do I fix this. My application is useless unless the user can make changes to their data.

Hello
In our company, after switching to Office 2007, Access 2007 runtime is installed on our general user machines.
Everything is just fine and beautiful, except that there is one issue with runtime:
Several forms in my Access Project use stored procedures in SQL Server 2000 as their record source. When i try to open the forms in Access 2007 Runtime on user machines, i receive an error that "The record source dbo.Myprocedure speified on this form or report does not exist ".
I use dbo.ProcName format and the forms open correctly in my full version Access.
What could be the problem?
Thanks!
Elman
Hi guys,
Is it possible at runtime to decide what subreports you want in your master report. Is this possible in RS?. Many Thanks in advance.
How would I hide certain parameter controls based on user sections in certain controls dynamically at runtime. I am using RS 2003 edition.
View 5 Replies View RelatedIs there anyway, that I can generate a list of all the objects that a given user has access to (including type of access whether select or update etc), by running a SQL command? One of our databases has nearly 40,000 tables (no kidding!) I can always find this out by manually looking into the roles etc on the enterprise manager, but I need a way to find out using a T-SQL query..Thanks for any help!

We have been asked to look into using stored procedures with SQL Server 7.0 as a way to speed up a clients site. 99% of all the articles I have read along with all the books all say Stored Procedure should be used whenever possible as opposed to putting the SQL in your ASP script. However one of my colleagues has been speaking to Microsoft and they said that that they were surprised that our client wanted to use Stored Procedures as this was the old method of database access and that now he should really consider using COM objects for data access as itis much faster. Has anyone got any views on this or know of any good aticles regarding this matter ?

We are running SQL Server 2012 on Windows 2008 Server. In one database, we would like to create a view which access objects in another database without giving the user permissions to the underlying base tables in the other database. The ownership chain is broken in this case. Can this be accomplished (considering the ownership chain is broken)? If so, what is the easiest method to accomplish this task? Or
Example 1 (Works):
In DB1:
--UserA selects from Schema1.View1 (which access tables in DB2).
In DB2:
--UserA exists with select permissions on the base tables accessed by Schema1.View1 (in DB1).
Example 2 (trying to accomplish):
In DB1:
--UserA selects from Schema1.View1 (which access tables in DB2).
In DB2:
--UserA exists (or may not exists) with NO permissions on the base tables accessed by Schema1.View1 (in DB1).
Hi!
I'm assisting in the creation of a development enviroment with SQL Server 2005, and I need to assign some custom roles, in particular, a Stored Developer Role should be able to create, modify and execute Stored Procedures but they should not be able to alter tables or views, but should be able to retrieve/insert data from those tables.
I've tried with the default roles in 2005 to no avail.
Is there a relatively easy way to accomplish this with a database alredy populated with objects of both kinds? (SP's and Tables / Views)
Thanks!
We are having problems with the response times from UPS WorldShip after switching from SQL Server 2000 to 2005.
I think that the problem can be fixed from the database end by setting the permissions correctly for the user/role/schema that is being used by WorldShip to connect to the server but, I'm not sure how to do it.
The Setup
Client
UPS WorldShip 8.0 running on XP Pro SP2
Connecting via Sql Native Client via SQL Server Login
Connection is over a T1 via VPN
Server -
SQL Server Standard Edition on Windows Server 2003
2x3ghz Xeon processors w/ 4gb ram
The user that is being used to connect runs under it's own schema and role and only needs access to two tables in a specific database on the server.
What UPS WorldShip seems to be doing is on a continual basis retrieving information about the layout of the database via calls such as the following
exec [sys].sp_tables NULL,NULL,NULL,N'''VIEW''',@fUsePattern=1
exec [webservices].[sys].sp_columns_90 N'CHECK_CONSTRAINTS',N'INFORMATION_SCHEMA',N'webservices',NULL,@fUsePattern=1
exec [webservices].[sys].sp_columns_90 N'COLUMN_DOMAIN_USAGE',N'INFORMATION_SCHEMA',N'webservices',NULL,@fUsePattern=1
This seems to happen whenever WorldShip contacts the database to find out information in order to be able to create a mapping to the database as well as exporting information to it. Because of the VPN connection these calls take anywhere from 20 seconds to 3 minutes.
I am fairly confident that the problem lies with these calls to the database which I was able to capture using the SQL Server Profiler. We have experimented with the following setups.
1. Connecting to SQL 2000 over VPN with SQL Native Client - No noticeable lag
2. Connecting to SQL 2000 over VPN with SQL Server 2000 driver - No Noticable lag
3. Connecting to SQL 2005 locally with SQL Native Client - No Noticable lag
4. Connectiong to SQL 2005 over VPN with SQL Native Client - Lots of lag
Our network admin has been testing the network connections over the VPN and it is very responsive with none of the long wait times found when using UPS WorldShip.
Now for a possible solution other than getting UPS to fix their software. I think that by limiting the tables and views that the login is able to see will cut down significantly on the lag times that are being experienced. The problem is that there were 264 items that were being returned by sp_tables. I was able to cut that down to 154. I am unable to disable access to any of the rest of the items because they are server scoped.
Take for example the INFORMATION_SCHEMA.CHECK_CONSTRAINTS view. When I try to deny access to it in any way I get the following error:
Permissions on server scoped catalog views or system stored procedures or extended stored procedures can be granted only when the current database is master (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 4629)
Am I able to deny access to these types of object and if so how? Also, what objects should be accessable such as sys.database_mirroring, sys.database_recovery_status, etc?
I made one report in SSRS 2008 in which getting data from one SharePoint List.
three parameters in report :
Country
StartDate
EndDate
I am using query which I created with CAML.
query is running well and data is coming correctly if I run this on Query designer.and date format must be YYYY-MM-DD.but when I try to run through on run time then the date control is showing format dd/mm/yyyy.
I change the regional settings of windows and SharePoint site to English(United States). and when I select date control it is also putting date in format like "YYYY-MM-DD'. and in that format report is working well in Query designer view. But on run time still it is not working.
I have converted the VS 2013 WinForm project to VS 2015. Once I installed it on client, report viewer is asking for Microsoft.ReportViewer.WinForms 12.0.0.0.With VS 2013 projects Report Viewer 2012 Runtime worked fine. I haven't been able to locate anywhere newer version of Report Viewer Runtime/
View 2 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if it is possible to use a generic list object to use as the datasource/data for a report? Right now we use these business objects to display information on our website and would be great it we could re-use those objects and create reports based on them. We are doing some calculations etc in the business layer to build these objects, so if we could re-use, that would be best.
Thanks!
Is there any way to get more information for when IAuthorizationExtension::CheckAccess fails to grant access to a report item for the current user? Specifically, it would be useful to know:

I am working on complex invoice document that handles various types of invoicing, credit, and progress bill customer facing documents. I am faced with same problem I see many SSRS devs posting on. And that is extra blank pages, being generated because the report width exceeds the width of the page.
My problem is I cannot shrink the horizontal width of the tablix and therefore the report width either...
While I would have done things differently if developing from scratch, the tablix in question has only one column and objects contained in rectangles are placed in the row/column cell.....The link to the image below shows the row I am currently working on. Essentially all the client wants a columnar report with column lines, closed footers, etc... so rather redoing the whole tablix, which I still might do, I am using rectangles with the column then lining them up. Anyway, that is a whole 'nuther post. My specific questions are:
Invoice in Report Builder
1. In the image I have selected the parent rectangle. The children are other rectangles and the data is with grandchildren textboxes that exist within those rectangles. I clearly have a bit of right side white space in the main parent rectangle, but there is no sizing tool on a hover... just move tool. And if I change the rectangle size in the prop form it just snaps back to the cell width. How do I size the parent rectangle and keep if from expanding.
Here I am guessing that to actually reduce the horizontal width of tablix and then the report, I have to first decrease the parent width of the rectangles that occur in each row?
Hi,
I am having a Data flow task in For each loop which will gets 100 sourcetable names and 100 target table names...
am having a simpleData flow task which trasferes from OLEDBSource to OLEDBDestination.
I am repeating the Dataflow task which transfers from sourcetablename extracted from for loop to a destination table var.
The problem am gettting is for the first table it is able to transfer correcly because I did mapping for those tables at design time...but for the next coming sourcetable-desttable (which r having different no of cols, datatypes) its giving Validation failed...and...needs to refresh metadata....
is there any way to refresh the metadata of Data flow task (I set the property of OLEDBSource validate external meta to false then also same error is coming)

I need to prevent domain and local administrators from having full control over our report manager. (I want them to be assigned permissions just like everyone else, some reports they can see other reports they can not.)
How can I accomplish this? I tried going into Report Manager -> Site Settings -> Configure Site Wide Security and re-assigning BUILTINAdministrators to the System User role instead of the System Administrator role. (A different set of report manager admins was given the system administrator role).
However, it appears that members of the BUILTINAdministrators group still have full control in Report Manager.

View 5 Replies View RelatedHello,
I'm using Reporting Services to render a text (stored in sql as varchar(max)). The text is all plain text, with some lines having trailing spaces.
Source text file i've imported to SQL via SSIS:
CLIENT: 10055
STATEMENT 2007
DATE:1002993
THIS IS THE OTHER STATEMENT
COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN 3
TRY THIS
*Note the trailing spaces on the line before 'STATEMENT 2007'.
I've designed a report using the Report Project in VS2005 to retrieve this text via a stored procedure. When I test the report using the 'Preview' tab in the IDE, it looks good
CLIENT: 10055
STATEMENT 2007
DATE:1002993
THIS IS THE OTHER STATEMENT
COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN 3
TRY THIS
But when I deploy the report and run it using URL Access:
CLIENT: 10055
STATEMENT 2007
DATE:1002993
THIS IS THE OTHER STATEMENT
COLUMN1 COLUMN2 COLUMN 3
TRY THIS
On all lines with trailing spaces, they (the trailing spaces) have been removed. This is affecting my formatting of some reports and statements. We really want to use the report viewer as it has built in paging, print and export capabilities.
Why does it look okay in VS2005 but different in Report Viewer via URL Access and Report Manager?
Note: When I export as PDF, it looks okay.
The stored procedure I use to return the data is a CLR Hosted assembly as below:
Code Snippet
Partial Public Class StoredProcedures
<Microsoft.SqlServer.Server.SqlProcedure()> _
Public Shared Sub GetPagedDocument(ByVal inText As SqlString)
Dim dr As SqlDataReader
Dim row As New SqlDataRecord(New SqlMetaData("RowText", SqlDbType.Text))
Dim cmd As New SqlCommand("select cast(doc as varchar(max)) as 'DOCTEXT' from testdoc WHERE id='" + inText + "'")
Dim cn As New SqlConnection("context connection=true")
cn.Open()
cmd.Connection = cn
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsStart(row) 'initialise the resultset to be returned
dr = cmd.ExecuteReader
'If no records in result set, return.
If Not dr.HasRows Then
row.SetString(0, "There is no document to display or you do not have permission to view the document.")
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsRow(row)
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsEnd()
' SqlContext.Pipe.Send("There is no document to display.")
Return
End If
'Read rows in the result set
dr.Read()
'Get the entire text
Dim docText As String = dr.Item("DOCTEXT")
'debug
row.SetString(0, docText)
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsRow(row)
SqlContext.Pipe.SendResultsEnd()
Return
'end debug
End Sub
End Class
Any help will be appreciated.
I am setting up the SQL2005 reporting service to let users build their own reports on the web. I'll provide them with pre-built report models. We have concern with SQL database performance by allowing users to execute huge reports. The problem that I have is: If I give the users permissions to build report they'll have access to the report's Properties | Execution page, which allows them to disable the report execution timeout. Is there a way for me to allow them build reports while restrict them to access the report execution timeout settings?
Please advise. Many thanks.
I have search all around the net, trying to get a solution for my application under MS Access 2003, I developed a database that generates a report, this report will need to be accessed trough the internal network, perhaps we don't want any user to have direct access to the database itself, and also we don't want to have to manually posted the report in the shared folder, we want to set up this to be done automatically and the end user won't need to have MS access in their pc, perhaps exporting the report as an spreadsheet instead. I try by using Macros within Access but this will only work manually from the .mdb file.
I also check what options do I have if I use Javascript but I don't think it will work either, since I'm not using Crystal Reports.
Can you please provide me with some guidance, if this is actually possible from a database/report under MS Access 2003.

passing serialised objects to a stored procedure for the purpose of data inserts. I see this as being a way to handle multiple row inserts efficiently.
However, in my limited use of XML data I am not so sure how to link the data when I have a dependency on another "object" within the serialised XML.
