Does anyone know where Enterprise Manager (MSSQL 2000) gets the "Last TSQL Command Batch:" information from that shows when you display the properties for a process listed under current activity/Process Info for a server.
This could be useful for a bespoke system monitoring utility in my system.

I am looking at EM - Current Activity - Detailed Activity. When I double-click on a user I see their "Last TSQL Command Batch". Unfortunately, the command that some are running is larger that the screen accommodates! Is there any way to see the complete "Last TSQL Command Batch"????

Hi,Im trying to write a class that compiles a list of SQLCommands and then executes them all at once. Im trying to reduce the amount of calls to the database.Im also trying just to update the fields which have changed so I cannot use Stored Procedures as that would mean writing way too many stored procedures for every permutation on every table in my database.So Ive decided to build sql commands and then execute them all with one call to the database. When I print the commandtext property of the sqlcommand to the page whilst debugging It shows something like insert into XXX (f1,f2) values (@v1,@v2). Is there any way to see the final sql string, with the @v1 variables replaced by the actual values in the parameters I have added to the sql command?Im building the commands by creating a new sqlCommand. Then I set the commandtext to "insert into XXX (f1,f2) values (@v1,@v2)". Then I Add Parameters to the sqlCommand. My Parameters count is showing the correct value.I want to be sure now that when I go to send these commands to the database as part of one long string that it will work.Thanks,C

Can a batch file that resides on another server be executed from a different machine? I have a batch file that resides on a server that I would like to run using SQL 2005 Integration Services. Is there anything I can do that would allow me to remotely execute this batch file and have it run in that environment.

I have tried mapping the remote machine to a network drive on my local machine and using that drive to execute the batch file in an Execute Process Task, but it does not work.
SSIS:
I have a FOR EACH loop grabbing files and writing fileName to a variable that is passed to the Process Task as an argument through an expression(%1 in the batch file above). The Working Directory is a mapped network drive. The Executable is also a network drive plus batch file name.
Any help would be appreciated.

I am using the following batch file to execute a script that creates a db and all its objects in the local sql express:
sqlcmd -S (local)SQLExpress -i C:CreateDB.sql
This works fine, but I'm wondering if there's an easy way to put the script in the batch file, so users don't have to worry about putting the script in the C drive. I tried getting rid of the i parameter and pasting the script from the sql file into the batch file, but it didn't work.

i am using a OLE DB Source in my dataflow component and want to select rows from the source based on the Name I enter during execution time. I have created two variables,
enterName - String packageLevel (will store the name I enter)
myVar - String packageLevel. (to store the query)
I am assigning this query to the myVar variable, "Select * from db.Users where (UsrName = " + @[User::enterName] + " )"
Now in the OLE Db source, I have selected as Sql Command from Variable, and I am getting the variable, enterName,. I select that and when I click on OK am getting this error.

I am creating a separate data flow for each Foxpro table. It seems to be doing it ok but I am getting the following error message at the package validation stage:

I have a problem running a batch file, now the problem is that when i run the batch file the command prompts the user for an input, but I have all the output of the bat file going into a log file. So when i run the bat file the process just sits there until i hit the 'y' key or unless i nput sumthin manually. This is a problem becuase this batch file is running on the UAT server as a job and there is no one there to input once the job is running. The commnd in the batch only requires an input once a month.
for eg if run: launch_scrt.bat and i want to put sum parameters such as 'y' or 'n' to avoid the manual input once the job is running. Any ideas?

I like to schedule set of jobs in sql server 2005 to run in a particular sequence. How do I schedule batch jobs? Each job is a set of packages. Idea is to create a job with multiple steps and each step should be a one job but there is no option for the "sql server agent jobs" when mentioning each step.
Any idea how to create a set of jobs in sequence?

In Horacle (thanks to someone else for the apt pseudonym), I am able to run a PL/SQL script saved as a file by simply typing in @ plus the path and file name. So, if I have a script called E:CreateTable.sql, I can simply enter @CreateTable.sql from the SqlPlus command line and Oracle will attempt to run all the commands in the E:CreateTable.sql file (there may be one or more commands).
Can I do the same thing in Query Analyzer (or even osql)? If so, what is the correct syntax?
