We are maintaining a database of drivers, and we are looking for a script or procedure that will automatically notify certain users of the list of drivers who are in need of a recheck or driver's license has expired.
I am new to this , so any help you can give would be greatly appreciated
I have two tables totally unrelated but give the same information, the difference is the duration. I need to create a stored procedure that will give the recent issue dates only, accept if they have already expired. I'm not exactly sure how to do that. We only want the employees to see the current issue date as long as the exclusion has not expired. Can anyone help please. What needs to happen is that the employees need to see only the exclusions that have expired which is based on the Expiration Date.
AS SELECT [dbo].[30 Day exclusion].[First Name], [dbo].[30 Day exclusion].[Last Name], [dbo].[30 Day exclusion].[Issue Date], [dbo].[Extended Exclusions].[First Name], [dbo].[Extended Exclusions].[Last Name], [dbo].[Extended Exclusions].[Issue Date] FROM [dbo].[30 Day exclusion] INNER JOIN [dbo].[Extended Exclusions] ON [dbo].[Extended Exclusions].[ID] = [dbo].[30 Day exclusion].[id] WHERE (@StartIssueDate is null or [Issue Date] >= @StartIssueDate) AND (@EndIssueDate is null or [Issue Date] <= @EndIssueDate) AND (@Enter_LastName is null or [Last Name] = @Enter_LastName) ORDER BY [Last Name]
I need to set up an automatic email notification. Right now, I have a subscription that is working. The subscription runs a report and puts the resulting pdf into a folder. I need a way to notify users (preferrably in an Outlook distribution list) when the pdf is created. I'm amazed that this basic feature is not built into the subscription capabilities.
Can anyone please tell me how to best accomplish this? I'm familiar with vb.net if that helps.
I have a question on how the retain parameter works for Backups. If I have a nightly full backup for a database and have retain = 10, does that mean on the 11th day the very first backup will be purged? Will the 11th backup attempt to take up some of the space that was occupied by that first backup? It seems that the 11th backup would be too large for the space that the first backup was taking up. I am fairly new to backups with SQL Server and want to ensure I am setting this up properly. Our goal is to keep backups for 10 days only.
I have a table containing several date fields in which certain events happened, and I need to be able to find the expiration date for renewal. The expiration dates are at the end of the 6th, 12th, or 24th month after the event occurred, depending on the event.
Is there a way to return in a query the last day of month x following a date field? For instance, if the date '3/12/2006' is stored in the field for a 12-month expiration, I need to return '3/31/2007'.
This may seem like a stupid question but i am trying to get the hang of the new security model.
I have not really heard anything mentioned about certficate expiration date when it comes to creating certificates for keys or service broker endpoints etc.
We have created certificates for keys and service broker endpoints, now what exactly happens when the expiration date, by default 1 year i think is reached, will we no longer be able to decrypt encrypted data and will the service broker endpoints stop working etc ?
Or is this expiration date when the certificate can no longer be used to create security objects ? And all security objects already created with this certificate will always work ?
In other words is there ever danger that keys and endpoints or basically any object referrencing this certificate will just suddenly stop working one day, or will all objects work indefinately regardless of an certificate/objects expiration date ?
Hello i am new to sqlserver 2000.i have list of email id in a table. need to fetch that emailid and send mail to the appropriate id's.any body knows how to write job schedule for this task.Ideas are welcome
First question: I have sql server 2005 enterprise eval edition installed. is there a query, command or tool can tell me the exact expiration date? I understand it is 180 day but I still want some way to query the exact date.
Second question: does sql server log any warning message before eval expires?
I am trying to set up the email notification system in SQL server 2000, but im having some problems. Mainly, im having problems with setting up an email account in the first place (there is a dedicated mail box, but the one im working with is a different box altogether).
If anyone could help fathom this out from start to finish i would be really grateful.
Is there a handy-dandy way for me to be able, from a stored procedure, to capture the notification email address for a user associated with a job?
I need to send an email out from a stored procedure, and I want it to be set up to send to the same user that is set up in the job that calls the stored procedure.
the same notification stored proc will be used in multiple jobs, but the jobs are already set up with a notification email to be sent to the defined users "on completion" (error or not). I want a separate email to be sent, but I want to use xp_Sendmail because I have to perform a select who's output I want to appear in the body of the email (and unless I am missing something, I have no control over the body of the standard "job completion" email).
I would prefer to NOT have to "hard code" the user email address in the stored proc that calls xp_sendmail, OR to put it in some user table in the database, when the user I want to send it to will always be the same one defined in at the JOB level in Enterprise Manager.
Any thoughts? Thanks in advance for your instantaneous and informative answer-packed responses! ;)
I just wondered that now SQL Mail is classed as a legacy solution for email, does anyone know how to set up Notification Services to send email once a job has completed e.g. Backup or reindex?
I have tried to find a tutorial but with no joy so far!
I want to setup a SMTP using gmail. How to configure it, it says,
In your email client software, under Outgoing mail, set the SMTP server to smtp.gmail.com. Set the your username is yourgooglemailname@gmail.com and make sure "Use username and password" is checked. Also check off "TLS" under "Use secure connection." I tried to do this in code:
Dim htmlMessage As MailMessage
Dim mySmtpClient As SmtpClient
htmlMessage = New MailMessage(From, SendTo, Subject, Body)
htmlMessage.IsBodyHtml = IsBodyHTML
mySmtpClient = New SmtpClient(Server)
Dim myCred As New System.Net.NetworkCredential("myemail@gmail.com", "mypassword") 'CredentialCache
Is there any way I can check the remaining time before I must upgrade an SQL Server 2000 Evaluation Edition? I thought I had made a note about which day it was. Can I rely upon the file date for uninstallation file in Programs/etc ?
I would like to filter records with in effective date and expiration date; If there is no record within that range, then check for grace period records ( effective date -30 days and expiration date + 90 days)
Below is the detailed script for sample data...
declare @tab table ( sno int identity, name varchar(100), EFFECTIVE_DATE date, EXPIRATION_DATE date) insert into @tab (name, EFFECTIVE_DATE , EXPIRATION_DATE ) SELECT 'chandu', GETDATE(), NULL union all SELECT 'chandu', '2014-02-11 00:00:00' , '2014-03-20 00:00:00' union all SELECT 'AAA', '2014-01-11 00:00:00' , '2014-05-11 00:00:00' union all
I have a strange problem with a scheduled task failing with the following:
"Unable to send completion notification email to operator with email name '' for task 2780, 'Scheduled Update'"
This job is the same across several servers and the job runs on the other servers. This is a bit frustrating... I cannot seem to find the difference that is causing the problem.
The funny thing is that I am not using SQLMail or anything to notify anyone regardless if the job succeeds or fails.
within sql server management studio... we have set up a few sql scripts to run at 2am every night (sql server agent > under jobs)... although it has been successful each night, we'd like to setup sql server agent to automatically email success and failure notifications to our email boxes.
i see under the properties of sql server agent > jobs > properties of a job > there is section that says Notifications but then it doesnt really have a place to type in which email we want to send them to? some reading material or instructions greatly appreciated

I am in process of setting up job failure notification and one of the requirements that I have is to send notification to multiple users. I would appreciate any suggestion. One of the possible ways would be to create some sort of group account on exchange server with all users added as members. Is there anyway though where I could use users' individual accounts and based on that forward notification to them?
I receive the following error when trying to invoke xp_sendmail 'xp_sendmail: failed with mail error 0x80070005'. However, for alert notifications the email works fine. SQL is using an alias account to send mail. This account doesn't have any funny characters. Any ideas why the alert system works but xp_sendmail does not? The invokation of xp_sendmail is being done by SA.
We need to use SQL Server Authentication for some reason and would like to enforce Password Policy with 90-day expiration period. I found "Change password" dialogue appears when I first logged in with the new user, but don't know
(1)what happens when the user failed to change the password before it's expired or (2)how a user can change his password in advance of the expiration date with no particular server-level permission.
I have a query which sends email notification of count of pending name and suggested name.. on a daily basis. So this works fine but now I want like if the pending and suggested are ' o count' I don't want the email notification. It should not send an email, if it is o count, but if we have the number for pending and suggested this email should be sent.
I have a VERY Legitmate use to install sql 4 workgroups on a pc without licensing it. I am making a disk image for MANY pcs to be imaged and load licensing after the imaging is completed.
I have been able to do this with Windows XP Professional, MS Office 2003 and a couple non-Ms programs. The information for MS software even came from their KB, so I know what I am doing is legit. I just can't find any information on doing this for my sql app.
Hello to a new forum. I am very impressed with the level of ability I have been seeing on this forum and all the helpful posts that are going on.
I am hoping someone can help me solve my problem. I know enough SQL to be very dangerous how to create, delete, insert, update etc... and how to build queries. Here is my dilemma I need to have a piece of scheduling software send out reminder emails based on a DATETIME field. I am running SQL Server 2005, and the database mail is already configured and can successfully send out email from the management studio interface.
Does anyone know of a tutorial or can point me in the right direction to accomplish this task. I am well versed in PHP, and am hoping I might be able to get the server to trigger a PHP script or something to this extent.
I created a report subscription windows form to talk to SSRS 2000 web services API. Everything is fine except the email subject '@ReportName was executed at @ExecutionTime' is always in American Date format.
Is there a way to customize the date format on the variable @ExecutionTime on the email subject?
