Here's my problem.
I have an Area Chart, and I need to plot more than 300,000 records. Problem is RS cannot seem to handle this huge dataset. It would retrieve for 20mins, then after that it will just have an error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I am not encountering this if I just have a few records to plot. Please help

Jun 28, 2007Is there a limit of how many rows a table can have in SQL compact Edition? I didn't find anything in the documentation, but I get regularly a funny error message "Expression evaluation caused an overflow. [ Name of function (if known) = ]" when I try to create record number 32768 (is equal to 2 to the power of 15).
Where is this limit documented ?

I am using visual c# 2003 and sqlserver 2000 and i am trying to query a column in the sql server and store it into a dataset but i got an error msg:
The number of rows for this query will output 90283 rows.

Flat File Conn Mgr Column Limit??

I have a flat file with hundreds of columns.
I set up a flat file conn mgr with the following settings:
format: delimited
text qualifier: "
header row delimiter: {LF}
row delimiter: {CR}{LF}
column delimiter: comma
Now, here's the problem. In the preview screen, it shows only up to column 518 correctly. In column 519, it shows the remaining hundreds of columns all glommed together as one big string, like: "data", 123, 10/17/2007, "more data", etc
Anyways, I am wondering what to do about this?
When I attempt to run the data flow I get this error:
[Flat File Source [1]] Error: The column delimiter for column "Column 519" was not found.
However, the good news is that I only need the first 9 columns of the file. Some preprocessing in order, maybe?

Importing Flat File Using DTS
Dec 6, 2000I have large flat files that I need to import using DTS. The record counts are between 500,000 and 3000,000. Or, 16 to 116 MB. When creating the DTS package I need to use to import, the wizard is haulting at the point where I should place the fixed points for the fields. I thinks it is because, the wizard will only recognize excel or text files. I cannot save these files as either txt or xls, because of their size. does anybody have any suggestions?

i need to import a fixed with text file into several tables in SQL 2005.
The file contains records that should go inte different tables and i would like to know the order of the design..
I also get some errors when trying to convert the text to unicode, even with the derviced column data flow task..?
flat file source -> Data conversation/Derived column -> aggregate?
I have not found the way of importing the file into several different tables in the DB.

When i leave an empty column i get:
"Directcopyxform conversion error:destination does not allow null"
when i just omit the column entirely, i get a wrong datatype error because it basically tries to copy all the columns 1 shift to the left

I can NOT get last field i.e. the date time field to import into SQL werver 2005 using import wizard.
I can manually enter the value in the table so I know it can handle data in the format it is in.. (table field is date time) but I cant get import wizard to read the file and bring in the data.. It bombs at coloumn 7... which is the date field.. It works fine if I delete the milisecond portion i.e. anything after the dot but I need to keep that information.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Importing DB2 Flat File With Bulk Insert

I am having trouble importing a flat file that was extracted from an AS400 server, into a SQL 2005 DB table using Bulk Insert. This file contains a column (field) that is of a Packed Decimal data type. Data in all other fields is displayed normally when viewing this file in a text editor such as Note Pad or Text Pad, but this one field comes up with unknown encoding: squares, thick vertical lines, basically strange characters and no numeric data.
Does anyone have any experience dealing with file of this sort?
Any insight would be appreciated.

Date Issues While Importing From Flat File
Nov 5, 2007I have a Data loading job using SSIS (Flat File to SSIS).
I been having issues with some bad data records while importing the file.
(Date Column).
Here is an example -- 7/31/0200 (Actually have around 600 Records of this nature)
While importing these records, the package fails as it cannot convert this "7/31/0200" string to a DATTIME Column Value.
Any idea on how i can overcome this?
Slow Flat File Source Importing
Oct 2, 2007I have a flat file source with 500,000 rows. Each row has 1 column, with about 500 characters in it. It's getting sucked into a OLEDB destination (table) in the exact same format.
Execution of this takes around 20-30 minutes, which seems silly. I read about the "fast parsing" option, but can't use it since my column is a string. Any ideas on how to speed this up?
Note: The column width for the input and output is varchar(3000). My destination table also has a varchar(3000) field. I can't imagine that is the problem, but thought I'd include it just in case.
Built In Limit Or Setting That Limits The Number Of Rows From An OLE DB Source Table In A Data Flow Task?
Feb 16, 2007I have a table that I'm loading as part of a control flow that in turn is copied to a target table by using a data flow task. I am doing this because a different set of fields may be used from the source entry to create the target entry based on a field in the source table. That same field may indicate that multiple entries need to be created in the target table from one source table entry for which I use a multi-cast transformation.
The problem I'm having is that no matter how many entries there are in the source table, the OLE DB Source during execution only shows 7,532 entries being taken from the source table. If there are less than 7,532 entries in the source table, everything processes fine. More than 7,532 and the data flow task only takes 7,532 and then seems to hang. It also seems as though only one path of the multi-cast transformation is taken when the conditional split directs a source entry down that path.
Seems like a strange problem I know, but any insight anyone could provide is appreciated. Thanks.

Truncation Error When Importing From ODBC To Flat File
Jul 31, 2006I am having problems reading from and ODBC conncetion from Oracle RDB into SSIS. I am using a DataReader source which uses a ADO.NET odbc connection to an oracle RDB database. I am having that write to a flat file. When I read integers from the source, it works just fine. When I read character data (char(48) for example), it gives me trucation errors. Is the DataReader source capable of reading char data from an odbc connection?

Importing Date Values From A Flat File Into The Database

I am trying to to import a flat file into a table in my database, i get all the values right except for the date, it keeps on inserting NULL values into the date fields.
The date format in the flat file is '20070708' etc.
Does anyone know what i can do to fix this?
I've tried to change the datatype values that it imports, but it still ignores it and inserts NULL values

Flat File Source Not Option For Importing Data
Feb 8, 2006I was getting the product error associated with the full version of SSIS not installed so I ran the installation again and selected the Integration Services check box.
Now when attempting to import data into a database, the drop down list doesn't have a flat file option.

Problem Importing Data From Flat File Into Decimal(10,2) Field
Oct 30, 2007Problem importing data from flat file into decimal(9,2) field. The data in the flat file is 000001453 and I am copying it to a decimal(10,2) field and instead of showing up in the 0000014.53 it comes across as 0001453.00. I tried defining the input columns a few different ways but none seemed to work. How do I do this with SSIS or do I need to write a SP and use convert? Thanks.

I'm I not seeing a tick box somewhere that says "over here if you want to terminate a row on the row delimiter even if all columns aren't full and we'll pad NULLs in rest of the row columns which you can fix in the flow transformations"

Insert Rows Into A Flat File

I have a problem that I canīt understand.
I have rows in a table in a SQL Server 2005 that I want to send to a Flat file. When I am executing the task for the first time it is OK and works perfectly. But the problem is when I am trying to do it again. I seems like the path to the file and the filename dissappears after the first time and the execution failes with an error message that tells me that the file is invalid and donīt exists.
I donīt now why this is happening and itīs such an easy thing to do and I canīt make it work.
So please help me!

Aug 13, 2007I have a text file that come from our client that is Column deliminated by ~ and row deliminated by {CR}{LF}.
There is a comment field that appearently is not cleaned up and has {CR}{LF} within the comment field.
I am new to SSIS and I'm wondering if there is a way to detect and correct the bad rows?
example file formet:

Flat File Data Source With Variable Number Of Delimited Columns
Feb 26, 2007I am writing a package that will process delimited flat files that will come in one of a few different versions. Within each flat file, the number of delimited columns will be the same, but each version of the file has a different number of columns. I have tried configuring the flat file data source to expect the version with the largest number of columns, but it will then throw away rows that have less than this number of columns (warning: There is a partial row at the end of the file).
Is it possible to use a single flat file data source that will work with all of the different width files?
How To Find Duplicate Rows In Flat File ?
Sep 6, 2007In the FLAT FILE source, I have to find the duplicate rows based on the two fields say, "bill number" & "invoice date".
The rows within flat file has like "bill number" which is duplicated on the same "invoice date".
If duplicate rows found then move the duplicate rows into another Flat File.
If not found then move the rows into Sql Server Table.
Pls provide the solution. Thank you
Flat File To Table - Rows Out Of Order

I noticed something strange today. I created a pkg that reads a flat file and writes the rows to a table.
In checking the data in the file against what's in the table, I noticed that the rows were inserted in a different order than they are in the file.
All the rows appear to be in the table correctly, but they're just not in the same order as in the file. I've never seen this before. But I checked very carefully, and this is indeed the case.
Is this normal??
