In a Stored Proc, I am building a string variable. I am getting outputs
from 4 different queries and would like the string to have line breaks
to display each entry in a different line in a text area. How can I do
this?
i.e
result = result1 + result2 + result3 + result4.
What characters can I enter so that the output is displayed in the
textarea as
result1
result2
result3
result4

I have data saved in nvarchar field in SQL Server and I am displaying it using <= dbReader["my_field"] but even the three or four paragraphs comes as one paragragh and I don't know know where are my line breaks going?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI have SQL Server 2012, and I'm trying to execute a bcp with a queryout and it is not working with line break, I will send you an example of a simple query my real case is a very long query that contains line breaks but this example behaves the same:
DECLARE @StoredProcedure AS NVARCHAR(4000) ,

Of course that is not the solution as I have a very long query that requires line breaks.
I have to output as one filed name, mailing address, and phone of each company that we do business with.
the out put must look as follows:
Company Name
Store number: #####
Street Address 1
Street Address 2
City, State Zip + 4
Phone: (###) ###-####
Each piece of data is a single field and will have to be concatenated into one.
How do I force the line breaks where I need them?
Also each piece of data will be compared to a €œsource€? for validity and I will need to mare the individual data pieces red where €œwrong€?. Like so:
VALID MY DATA
Company Name Company Name
Store number: ##### Store number: #####
Street Address 1 Street Address 1
Street Address 2 Street Address 2

Any ideas on how to do this? I have used IIF for conditional formating of field colors in the past, but my expierence is that it changes the WHOLE display field not just piece of data the IIF is wrapped around.
Can this be done in SSRS or must it be done in the query? Ideas? Suggestions? See Example Below:

I have a report with several matrix objects. The data contained in each matrix is simple. One matrix has one column of labels and a column of data. The other has 3 columns of data. Both matrix's only show about 25 rows of data. A variable amount of data is displayed above the matrix's so that sometime the render across a page boundary. Whenever this happens the matrix doesn't render rows down to the bottom of the page. A considerable amount of empty space is left on the page, the completed matrix is displayed on the next page. I'm wondering how to get the matrix to render in this empty space.
This problem only occurs when I view the report on screen, in the Visual Studio "Preview" window, or from the Report Server web site. Tiff, pdf and printed output doesn't contain the extra space.
I've tried adding my matrix to a List and a Rectangle to see of this would fix the problem but it didn't help.
I've check the dimensions and margins or the page and I don't think I have any sizing problems, everything should fit on the page.

for some AP issue, the file I upload must be without the line feed/carriage return in the last line.
for example:
original fixed-length file (exported from SSIS)
line NO DATA
1 AA123456 50 60
2 BB123456 30 40
3 CC123456 80 90
4 <-- with line feed/carriage return in the last line
The file format that AP request. The file only has 3 records, so it should end in the third line.
line NO DATA
1 AA123456 50 60
2 BB123456 30 40
3 CC123456 80 90
Should I use script component to do it ? I am new for VB . Anyone would help me ?

I hope I'm posting this in the correct forum (forgive me if I'm not) since I'm not sure if this is an issue with inserting an item into a db or the processing of what I get out of it. I wrote a basic commenting system in which someone my post a comment about something written on the site. I wanted to keep it very simple, but I at least want the ability for a user to have newlines in their comment without having to hardcode a <br /> or something like that. Is there a way for me to detect a newline if someone, for example, is going to their next paragraph?

Now we need to add a trend line to this existing graph after going thro. the articles we came to know that there is no direct option in SSRS to draw a trend line. So we need to calculate the trend values ourselves which we need to plot as atrend line. This trend line is similar to the trend line which comes in Excel chart, do anyone know how to calculate the trend values from the actual data points. We got through several formulas, but were not clear, have anyone tried out exactly the same, if so please help us out by providing an example to calculate the trend values.

When creating a line chart, I would like to be able to show Markers for the data points, but no line between these points (as you can do in excel).
I have set the line setting to none (for the lines of interest), however the lines still show.
Is this a bug, or am i missing something obvious settings-wise?

View 1 Replies View RelatedNot long ago I accountered this situation: I had two databases on "MS SQL Server". In one of the databases there was a nomenclature with very large primary key.
I had to transport that nomenclature and transform the wide PK into single identity column into the other database.
I decided to use a function for that transformation. BUT that function had to mark somewhere which combination of the PK columns is relative to which identity value. BUT functions CAN'T WRITE under MSSQL.
So I took the challenge and mine all sources of information. The result was a function "Exec4Fun" that breaks the rule.
I suppose that with this function it's possible to avoid the restriction for triggers, which prevents writing in the triggering table? (not tested yet)

I am writing a database for a sport club. In order to be able to show reports for achievements I need to break apart the datetime format in SQL.
Example table with columns:
1)Date of competition ||| 2)Time achieved by competitor for 100m(in format mm:ss.fff, minutes:seconds.hundreds)

| 01/02/2008||| 00:12.543 |
| 01/03/2008||| 00:15.332 |
Then I need to show this in a graph with axis X Date and axis Y Time to show personal development for the whole year.
I do not want to CONVERT to VARCHAR because it won’t be possible to compare in the graph.

I have a table that I want to show only 3 times in every page. If the dataset return to me 7 results i want to show The first 3 in page 1, the second 3 in page 2, the last in page 3... only 3 in every page.
I created that function:

I created a group in a table with that expression: =Code.saltoCada(3) and then add a page break at end in the group.

I am using a sqldatareader to get back a whole set of data.
The columns are id, data_id and data_desc
for example, the collection is id data_id data_desc0 100 this is name for id 00 101 this is address for id 00 102 this is gender for id 01 100 this is name for id 11 101 this is address for id 11 102 this is gender for id 12 100 this is name for id 22 101 this is address for id 22 102 this is gender for id 23 100 this is name for id 33 101 this is address for id 33 102 this is gender for id 3
I want to be able to go thru' this list and break up for each id and create a txt file. So, i will have four text files.
txt0.txt will contain100, this is name for id 0 101, this is address for id 0102, this is gender for id 0
I would like to know, how do i use a dataview to break up the sqldatareader so i can then repeat the loop for each id and generate the text file.
I don't have a problem generating the text file.
Please let me know, how should i go about it.
