View 2 Replies View RelatedHi all,
I am running a named instance of SQL Server 2005 Enterprise Edition, side by side with named instance of SQL Server 2000 in Windows Server 2003. When I start the installation. I am unable to proceed from authentication stage.
The error description for Database Services and Reporting Services under both sa and windows authentication mode is: Encryption not supported on client Sqlcmd error: Microsoft SQL Native client: Client Unable to establish connection
In Service Manager, all SQL Server 2005 services are running with Logon as Administrator, and I am also able to connect to SSAS, SSRS, SSIS via Management studio both via Windows authentication and sa account information.
Would you please inform if I have to change any security settings before SP2 installation here.
How to add myself a Sql Server Administrator. The link in Surface Area Configuration to Add new Administrator doesn't work.
When running the project in debug mode or non-debug mode, I get the following error from MS Visual Studio:
TITLE: Package Validation Error

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Error at Package [Connection manager "SYBASE_CONNECTION"]: The connection manager failed to defect from the transaction.

Hi everyone,I'm looking into moving my desktop system at work to Linux from WindowsXP, and one tool I've yet to find a suitable replacement for is MS SQLEnterprise Manager. I mainly need to query MS SQL databases fromLinux, and management tasks (monitor backups, services, etc) can bedone on the MS SQL servers themselves. THere was an application I usedto use on OSX which would connect to a variety of databases, includingMS SQL, and they had a Linux version of the client .. but can'tremember the name. But really any Sybase client that can connect to MSSQL with some ease will work. Thanks for any suggestions or ideas ...Alex

Hi,
This question may be a bit naive but I have some data that I would like to transfer from a SQL 7 database to a DB2 database on Linux. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this. I have in the past transferred data from SQL 7 to Oracle and SYBASE using DTS without any difficultly. I cannot remember exactly but presume they were on NT.
Anyone got any ideas/suggestions.
Many thanks
David

View 1 Replies View RelatedHello Everyone -
This may be a silly question, but does SQL Server 2005 run on any other platforms besides Windows? Will SQL Server 2005 run on Red Hat Linux? Or any other flavor of UNIX? Thank you for your time and assistance. I appreciate the help.
Am trying to connect to SQL Server 2000 from a Debian Linux installation. What would be the best place to get documentation on this? Is using Open-TDS recommended (is there any other way)?
will greatly appreciate any assistance.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHi all,
I'm looking at setting up my own developer server at home so I can do more programming - at work I have limited capability so want to experiment a bit more.
Windows Server is far to expensive for me to consider so I'm looking at Sun Chili!Soft.ASP to run the ASP pages, etc and now just need SQL server. I have seen Microsoft now kindly offer this free version but is it likely to work on this Linux based system? Sun Chili!Soft.ASP currently supports SQL 7 and 2000 - is there any difference with SQL Express?
Hope anyone can help.
Cheers
