I know it is possible to make a list inside another list control.My question is,what happens to tha data of the list which overlapped the main list.
For example,i have "mainList" which is the dominant list,it contains field1.Then i put "List2" inside "mainList".List2 have fieldNew.And next,i put a textbox inside "List2".But what could be the reason,why fieldNew can't be seen and only field1 appears when i typed in my expression =Fields!fieldNew. it doesn't seem to be present to the fact that both list are assigned to different dataset..
mainList -> dataSet1
List2 -> dataSet2
As for what i have observed,and correct me if im wrong,list can only be embed into a list if its function would be for grouping,but not for getting different values from different dataset..
Hi! I have a strored proc which adds up fields separated by semicolon into a new one and I'd like to use it as a combo box's control source field as a Value list. But it's just insert the whole field into one line like value1;value2;value3 . Is there any way to get these values selectable in the combo box?
I am new to SSRS. I have created simple report using reporting services, In which i am using one List element and inside that 8 text boxes and a table, in which 4 texboxes is used as lable and remain 4 textbos is value from dataset and table displays details as below for each unquie call number with table header marked in red color. When i click preview i get below report(Report 1) for call number 4 and 10 records in table which is under list. But for call number 4 still 6 records as to be display in next page with text boxe element which marked in Green color in Report 1. Now i am getting report with out List element i.e (Report 2 given below )

I have created a report that contained a subreport that was databound inside a table but I was getting errors when I export to excel - "Subreports within table/matrix cells are ignored".
So I changed my report to bind the subreport to a list control instead of a table and it exports to excel fine but I now have new issues:
1) When I export to pdf it seems to ignore width and height properties, creating a blank page every other page (because it thinks the list control is wider than the page), and it also overlaps other elements below the list control.
2) I also seems to have lost the paging in the viewer control that is handled by setting the interactive height property.
Are these known limitations of the list control and pdf or do I have something wrong in the way I have set-up the report. I can provide .rdlc file samples if necessary.

Department:B ¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦¦.. Here is what I did I have a list control that is grouped by department. this will get me the info from Line 1 to Line 10 then this list control is actually under another list control that is grouped by department to get the info from Line 15. I used this example for simplicity and what I am doing is fairly similar to this situation. My problem is, I need to find away to know how many totals I have to count the total for the entire department. In other words : from the example above how can I know I have to divide by 3 to get 33%. I can get the 100 without any problem but I cant tell what number I need to divided by. I tried to use Count(Name.Field) I was hoping this will give me 3 which indicates the divided number. But I was getting 7 for some reason. How can I get the number of times the list control was implemented for one department which is in this case 3?
What are the options to create a table of contents based on the report items in a List Control? Document Mapping works for online viewing. A table of content would make the report easier to read when it's printed.
Hi,I've just installed SQL server and then IIS and SQLCE tools.I created a virtual directory and was trying to update the NTFSpermissions from SQLServer Connectivity management when i got thefollowing error - Access Control List (structure) invalid.Has anyone come across this and if so, what did u do to fix it.ThanksLyn
Hi All, I am placing a Matrix inside the table control for grouping requirements,but when we export the report to the Excel, the contents inside the table cell are ignored. Is there any way to get the full report exported, as per the Requirement.Please help me with this issue.
UPDATE #2: When it said "Do you want to install Microsoft SQL Server" I said "yes" and that caused it to work. I exited and re-ran and now the print runs w/o the "install SQL Server" (If the prompt had said "Do you want to install the print dialog" we wouldn't be having this discussion...)
UPDATE: After posting this i discovered that the same thing occurs when attempting to print the report direct from IE6: First a dialog pops up "Do you want to install this software?" Name: Microsoft SQL Server. When I click "Don't Install" I get the dialog "unable to load client print control." Since this happens direct from IE6 I suspect it's browser settings. I'll resume tomorrow and post a followup.
My WinForm C# app integrates Reporting Services by calling them from WebBrowser controls. The problem is attempts to print cause a dialog: "unable to load client print control."
I've read prior posts that say "enable Active-X in your browser" - I don't know how to do that from a WebBrowser control.
Any ideas how to support Reporting Services "Print" from within a WebBrowser control?
So at the moment, I don't have a function by the name CONCATENATE. What I like to do is to list all those different values that go with a single CASE_ID to appear as a a comma separate list. You might have a better way of doing without even writing a function
I know I can do a JOIN(parameter, "some seperator") and it will build me a list/string of all the values in the multiselect parameter.
However, I want to do the same thing with all the occurances of a field in my result set (each row being an occurance).
For example say I have a form that is being printed which will pull in all the medications a patient is currently listed as having perscriptions for. I want to return all those values (say 8) and display them on a single line (or wrap onto additional lines as needed).
Something like: List of current perscriptions: Allegra, Allegra-D, Clariton, Nasalcort, Sudafed, Zantac
How can I accomplish this?
I was playing with the list box, but that only lets me repeat on a new line, I couldn't find any way to get it to repeate side by side (repeat left to right instead of top to bottom). I played with the orientation options, but that really just lets me adjust how multiple columns are displayed as best I can tell.
Could a custom function of some sort be written to take all the values and spit them out one by one into a comma seperated string?
Ok, I want to write a stored procedure / query that says the following: Code: If any of the items in list 'A' also appear in list 'B' --return false If none of the items in list 'A' appear in list 'B' --return true
In pseudo-SQL, I want to write a clause like this
Code:
IF (SELECT values FROM tableA) IN(SELECT values FROM tableB) Return False ELSE Return True
Unfortunately, it seems I can't do that unless my subquery before the 'IN' statement returns only one value. Needless to say, it returns a number of values.
I may have to achieve this with some kind of logical loop but I don't know how to do that.
I have a select list of fields that I need to select to get the results I need, however, I would like to insert only a chosen few of these fields into a table. I am getting the error, "The select list for the INSERT statement contains more items than the insert list. The number of SELECT values must match the number of INSERT columns." How can I do this?

I have a a table that holds a list of words, I am trying to add to the list, however I only want to add new words. But I wish to return from my proc the list of words with ID, whether it is new or old.
Here's a script. the creates the table,indexes, function and the storeproc. call the proc like procStoreAndUpdateTokenList 'word1,word2,word3'
My table is now 500000 rows and growing and I am inserting on average 300 words, some new some old.
performance is a not that great so I'm thinking that my code can be improved.

Hi, I have set of 2 DTS packages, one of which calls the other by forming a command-line (dtexec) using a Execute Process task.
From the parent package-> Execute Process Task-> dtsexec /F etc... /<pkg variable> = "servername"
Each of the parent and the called package have a variable: "User::DWServerSQLInstance" which is mapped to the SQL server connection manager server name property using an expression. The outer package has the above variable and so does the inner called package (which gets assigned through the command line from the outerpackage call to inner)
I "sometimes" get the following error:
OnError,I4,TESTDOMAdministrator,ACDWAggregation,{A1F8E43F-15F1-4685-8C18-6866AB31E62B},{77B2F3C7-6756-46EB-8C01-D880598FB4B3},5/22/2006 5:10:28 PM,5/22/2006 5:10:28 PM,-1073659822,0x,The variable "User::DWServerSQLInstance" is already on the read list. A variable may only be added once to either the read lock list or the write lock list.
Help would be appreciated!
I have seen other posts on this but, not able to relate the solution to my scenario.
Package works fine when run from BIDS, DTExec, dtexecui. When I schedule it, It get these random errors. (See below)
The main culprit is a variable called "RecordsetFileDIR" which is set using an expression. (@[User::_ROOT] + "RecordSets\")
A number of other variables use this as part of their expression and as they all fail, pretty much everything dies.
I have installed SP1 (Not Beta) on server. Package uses config files to set the value of _ROOT.
The error does not always seem to be with this particular variable though. Always a variable that uses an expression but errors are random. Also, It will run 3 out of 10 times without a problem. I am the only person on the server at the time.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
Crispin

My development environment includes Visual Web Developer, SQL Server 2005 Express and SQL Server Management Studio Express. I have a .sql control string that creates a database. The control string is in my App_Data folder within my web site. When I use SQL Server Managment Studio Express to run the .sql control string and create the tables etc. it does it in my SQLEXPRESS folder and not in the web. How do I run the .sql file so it will create the database in my App_Data folder within the web site? Thanks, Kyleq

Hi! I'm building a web application with ASP.NET, and using MS SQL 2000 for my database server. How should I do to guarantee the integrity of the data in spite of the concurrent access? Meaning... how can I make sure that more than 1 user can update 1 table at the same time, while no error will occur? Do I need to add some codes at my aspx file? Or do I need to do something to my database? Or do I not have to worry about it? Thank you.

I'm writing a page to do some reporting off of one of our databases, and I'm using 3 control parameters for my sql query that feeds my datagrid. 2 of the ControlParameters are from dropdownlists, and one is from a RadioButtonList. The error I am getting is: Exception Details: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Line 1: Incorrect syntax near '@Booga'. Can someone please tell me what I am doing wrong... I have a simple webform that has contains a GridView and a DetailsView. Once the GridView is populated the user simply selects a record from the list. The DetailsView is them populated with all of the data from the selected record. The DetailsView is bound to a SQL DataSource/CustomerData. I have made sure that the DV control has the Edit/Update Command listed. The user can click the Edit button and successfully edit the fields but when the user clicks the "Update" button I am getting the following message. Updating is not supported by data source 'CustomerData' unless UpdateCommand is specified Why isnt the control handling the Update. Many Thanks!!!! T
I am trying to use the FileUpload control to save a filename to a SQL database. I'm using the OnUpdating event for my SQLDataSource to add the filename to the UpdateParameters. The OnUpdating event is firing but the FileName doesn't get added to the database. Any pointers as to why that might be would be very helpful. Here's the code. Thanks much. <%@ Page Language="VB" MasterPageFile="~/MasterPage.master" Title="File Upload Testing" %> <script runat="server"> Sub Page_Load() Response.Write("UpdateParameters(0)=" & dsLabel.UpdateParameters(0).Name & "<br />") Response.Write("UpdateParameters(1)=" & dsLabel.UpdateParameters(1).Name & "<br />") End Sub
