hi my local host cannot open the connection to my database, whilst testing with vwd seems to be able to do this? other server side functions work (response.write("hello world"))
in my iis the version of .net it says its running reads: 2.0.50727, though when i go to add / remove programmes i have 3.5 there? maybe its nothing to do with .net versions?
I have database on localhost and i want to show this data on my website. I want to create a database online and want to sync with Local Host. Can it be possible syncing data automatically after some interval?
I have a application which uses the automatic asp.net membership stuff to make it work. (In app_data). It works fine on local host, but when I use it on the web server I get the error message (after clicking the log in button):An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified) Please help me fix this. Thank you for your help,Sam
I have an ASP.NET application that runs under the development server. Before deploying to my host I wanted to test it under IIS. I set up a virtual directory under IIS, but when I try to open the home page I get an error Unable to open the physical file "E:CDiskLocalWebSitesDIWSchedulingApp_DataDIWDB.MDF". Operating system error 5: "5(Access is denied.)".and a code dump showing that the code is breaking at the open connection. A little research on the error indicates that IIS does not have permission to execute the database operation. I can not find any information on how to give IIS this permission in SQL Server 2005 Express. Any guidance would be appreciated.
I have installed MS SQL 2005 in my system. I have created one database in my server. When iam running my application with this connections it is working fine in my local system. When i uploaded the database to some where dataserver, Iam not getting the connectins due to no remote access .
Some body suggested that to start the SQL browser in the SQL Server Configuration Manager.
I go there n tried to start the service when i put the service properties to Automatic or Manual i am getting the error message that is saying that the service is disabled cannot start automatically.
I have a page that connects to SQL server. It works fine when running in local host but when I publish to the server, I get the following: An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server) Any ideas on where to start? Thanks,Mark
i created a layout in visual studio 2005 with the proper dimensions to print on an Avery 5160 label sheet (3 labels across and 10 down)
in the Body properties, i set Columns to 3, ColumnSpacing to 0.125", and Size 2.625" (W) & 1" (H).
i created a list table with a text box of the same dimension as the Size in the Body.
the thing is when i go to preview the report in visual studio, it just shows all the data but only in one column, but if i click the Print Layout button, it shows all 3 columns, then when i print it, it works! so i assumed that this was just the way visual studio handled the data. no big deal...
the problem is when i upload this to the reporting services on our local intranet and run it from the reporting services, it shows only one column (the left most only) and prints that way too; it's almost like i need a Print Layout button on the reporting services (which there isn't one).
is there something that i need to set so that it will print in 3-column form from the reporting services so people can print on label sheets?
i hope this makes sense. also, i tested this on the same printer just to make sure it wasn't hardware.
The server acts as a subcriber and publisher and acts as its own distributor. Each publication uses its own distribution agent and is set to loop.
There are 4 queued updating subscriptions on this box.
When running 3rd party tools to determine open active ports, the replication executables (distrib and logreader) are connecting to local server multiple times. Easily 15+ established connections plus many more waits.
Everything connects to 1433 then opens a new port.
Is this because of the queued updating?
Replication is functioning as it should without any problems.
I even checked our 2 main distribution servers which only act as distributors and there is not one connection from replication to itself.
I am trying to deploy my database-driven ASP.NET application to my web server. I have hosting through godaddy.com and they require that you run a script through their SQL admin Query Analyzer to create the database. After I attach the database in the Management Studio, I generate the script, copy and paste it into the QA and get the following error. Any help?Error -2147217900

We are currently testing all our applications on Vista and SQL Server 2005. Everything is running and working, but our applications that connect to SQL Server 2005 are running very slow. We have our client installed on a vista pc running SQL Server 2005 on the same pc. I was trying to troubleshoot the problem and realized that we had "Local connections only" checked in the Surface Area Configuration tool, and changed it to "Local and remote connections". After making this change all our apps seem to be running much faster. I just didn't expect this to be the problem since we were connecting from the same computer that is running the server. Can anyone explain to me why this has made the difference in performance?
I installed SQL reporting services 2005 and successfully configured reporting services. After designing the report using Bussiness Intelligence Studio, i tried to deploy my reporting services application to the localhost , I got the below mentioned error :

A connection could not be made to the report server http://localhost/ReportServer.
The attempt to connect to the report server failed. Check your connection information and that the report server is a compatible version. (Microsoft.ReportingServices.Designer)

I'm creating an app and have SQL Server 2005 Express installed. Most of the hosts now offering SQL Server 2005 are a bit pricey compared to those only offering 2000. Will I have any difficulty uploading my site and running the db on SQL 2000? Thanks in advance.
I have been reading through the article pointed to by the link below on msdn and its documented that one functional limitation of user instances is "Only local connections are allowed." I didn't understand the technical details(meaning) of that limitation and hopefully some one might explain it to me so that i can understand it better.
Hello:We have a a two tier application connecting to sql serverthrough remoting. The business objects are single call objects. We areopening and closing connections using ADO.NET command object. All"ExecuteNonQuery" are closed in finally blocks. We are running out ofsql connections because the profiler shows that connections are notbeing released till the business service is stopped and restarted.Does anyone have suggestions on how to fix this problem of theconnections not closing and why it may be happening? Thanks a lot,Han
Got another question. I run my job and it runs the first two steps fine but when I hit the third step i get an error. In the third step I have an ole db connection to an AS400 db and downloading data from it. Is there any way that I can get this to read and accept the ole db connection because it seems like it doesn't recognize it.
Hello there,This is a bit of strange one.My local version of SQL Server fails to start when I boot yet if Istart Enterprise Manager its started and working fine. ISQL or QueryAnalyzer is also not working. If I try and register the server by another SQL Server is not there. Methinks that the named pipes might be a bit broken but would appreciateany advise from people.ThanksGinters
I am facing a problem in connecting to the local database with server name as (local).
I have installed SQL Server 2005 in my machine. When I try to connect to the SQL server with the server name as SUNILKUMAR I am able to connect but when I try to connect to the same server with the server name as (local) I am not able to connect. SUNILKUMAR is my machine name and SQL server is running locally.
if anyone can help me what is the problem in this case it is highly appriciated.
My goal is to develop the system on a windows application and pda
There is a central server which will create a publication called inventory
The laptops which host the windows application will be subscribers to the central server using merge replication
The client now wants the PDA using SQL Mobile to synchronize with the local subscirber database on the laptop using active sync. They dont want to do it via WIFI to the IIS Server at the central server
I have been reading for days and I am still unsure whether this is possible to do.
I know Appforge provide a conduit for palm to access synchronization but not local sql databases
I am new to installation of SQL Server 2005..I wanted to know while selecting Service Account Screen why Avoid running SQL Server Agent as the Local System account.????

HiAs i have read, there have been discussions before how to move a local MDF databas to MSsql server at a webhost. But i cant figure it out, i know the answere is out there but i cant find it.I have downloaded the Host Deployment tool that generates a .sql file from my database, it looks ok.The problem is that my host dont allow me to execute this. I have also tried to run a file called RunSql.aspx that should help me execute my .sql file. But i recieve errors Opening url http://mydomainz1.com/mydbfile.mdf.sqlAn error occured: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (404) Not Found. at System.Net.HttpWebRequest.GetResponse() at ASP.runsql_aspx.__Render__control1(HtmlTextWriter __w, Control parameterContainer) in d:hsadminaccoundidmydomainz1.comRunSQL.aspx:line 58The line 58 is empty Is there anyway that a mdf file that i have build in VWD 2005 can work as a standalone database?I would like it to be as a .mdb database that is simple to move and so on. Or do the mdf database have to have a MSsql Express or a MSsql Server? Grateful for help! / mitmit
I created a sqlexpress database in visual studio 2005 and can't figure out to move the database to my hosting company( godaddy ). I can't connect remotely to the database on my hosting company. Whats the best way to go about this?
Hi. I have a client with a database hosted on SQL Server 2005. I don't have a paid version of SQL Server at home so am just using SQL Server Express. I'm getting INCREDIBLY FRUSTRATED that I can't use the "copy database" wizard from SQL Server Express.
Am I just out of luck on this? I can't use the "copy database" feature since I'm using Express. I can't get the actual files since the database is on a shared server. I know I'm not the only person with this issue; I see people asking the question but I don't see any answers.
Hi, I have a hard time copying my db (or instance?) from a SQL Server 2000 db which resides at my web host. I have Sql Server 2005 Express and Sql Server Management Studio Express on my computer and, well, there is no "ftp-like" option so I don't have a clue about how to proceed. I've read many posts on the net on this matter but nothing seems to apply to this, in my mind, rather common, configuration. I have receieved Excel docs that should be appended to tables in my db. I have successfully installed DTS (see http://mobiledeveloper.wordpress.com/ for details - it's really simple but takes two hours) so I have a wizard for the actual import from Excel. My plan is now to 1. download/detach/whatever my table/db/part of the web host's db and download it to my computer. Then 2. fill the tables with the data from Excel. And finally, to 3. upload/attach/whatever my local db or table to the web host again. I'm sooo confused, please, please help me out here! Pettrer
Hi,On my laptop I am running Virtual Server 2005 with 2 x Windows 2003Servers. Both the VS can access the internet and shared files on thehost laptop. On the host laptop I have a SQL Server 2000 running.I have written a Windows Service to detect Application Errors and fireduplicates of events to the database, and this service sits on both VS.It does work as I have tested it on host. BUT everytime I makeapplication errors on the VS nothing is deposited into my database.Very frustrating!I have also tried to create a ODBC connection through the Data SourceAdministrator, and when I enter the login credentials for SQL I getconnection error messages.Any suggestions would be great!ThanksSun
