Hi there
I have a connectin manager for file( New File Connection..) along with some oledb connection managers.
Now If a put SSIS work Offline as True (I need this for some reason). Connection manager for File gives error as something --
"Connection manager for File connection failed with error code-0xc0014019,Connections cannot acquire connections while work offline is true."
But other connections of olddb work fine.
so do we have to change some more settings with file connection or with file connection we can't work offline?
Thanks and Regards

In Data Flow task, I have ole db source which should take the dynamic filename from user variable "filename". whats happening is when i give fixed filename, without foreach loop container the package is working fine.
with dynamic filename, I am not able to run the package because of ole db source Error - cannot aquire connection from connection manager.

Hi there,
We have an SSIS package, that when run though BIDS, runs to success.
However when running as a SQL Agent Job the following error is logged: "The AcquireConnection method call to the connection manager "Data Source" failed with error code 0xC0202009."
The package does use a configuration file as well as protection level of EncryptSensitiveWithPassword. The correct username and password are kept in the config file.
How do i fix this? The only thing i find in the KB is a solution telling me to use a config file and EncryptSensitiveWithPassword, both of which i already do.
Thanks

I'm getting an intermittent error 'DTS_E_CANNOTACQUIRECONNECTIONFROMCONNECTIONMANAGER' when attempting to connect to an Access mdb. We have a weekly package that fails almost every other week. The package uses a FileSystem task to copy an Access mdb which we use as a template. It has a single table structure which is empty. The FileSystem copy task creates the 'clone' in a different folder with a new file name. The new file name has the current date embedded in it. The next task is a DataFlow task which fills the single Access table with data. It uses an OLE_DB connection to the Access mdb. Since the destination mdb is created at runtime in the FileSystem task, I have set the DelayValidation = True for the DataFlow task. The package is called from a 'master' package via an Execute Package Task. The master package is launched from a web application. Interestingly, when I use the 'restart from checkpoint' feature it restarts the package at the DataFlow task and runs it successfully. I have used the 'restart from checkpoint' after each failure and it has always worked. When I try to isolate the problem in a test package I am unable to reproduce the error. Our SqlServer version is Enterprise Edition (64-bit) with SP2.
Anyone have a similar experience? Thanks in advance.

Hi All!
I'm writing a custom component in c# for SSIS and I have a problem with AcquireConnection...
I wrote this code:
public override void AcquireConnections(object transaction)
{
if (ComponentMetaData.RuntimeConnectionCollection[0].ConnectionManager != null)
{
ConnectionManager cm = DtsConvert.ToConnectionManager(ComponentMetaData.RuntimeConnectionCollection[0].ConnectionManager);
ConnectionManagerAdoNet cmAdo = cm.InnerObject as ConnectionManagerAdoNet;
if (cmAdo == null)
throw new Exception("The ConnectionManager " + cm.Name + " is not an ADO connection.");
this.conn = cmAdo.AcquireConnection(transaction) as OracleConnection;
}
but the 'conn' is ALWAYS null...
I tried
this.conn = ((IDTSConnectionManagerDatabaseParameters90)cmAdo).GetConnectionForSchema() as OracleConnection;
too, but no result: the 'conn' is null again...
If I use oledbconnection or sqlconnection instead of oracleconnection the method works fine... I really don't understand
could you help me plz?

Occasionally I'm seeing the following error when tranlog or full backup maintenance plan is executing.
Failed-1073573396) Failed to acquire connection "Local server connection". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.
What is strange is that it goes away without any action from myself. We have a tranlog backup that is scheduled every hour. I had this error happen once in the middle of the night. It looks like the job was running fine because almost all the backups are there. I've searched and not found a resolution to this error. I checked the event log and don't see any issues and even tried rebuilding the maintenance plans.

Hi all,
I am trying to run eight SSIS packs from within Integration Services > Stored Packages > File System and seem to get an error like the following on all of them:
"Failed to acquire connection "MyConnection". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.
I can run the packages without error from within VS and from within that location in Integration Services on the machine containing the the databases, but when I attempt to run them remotely I get that error. I am attempting this with full admin access on both machines, but the purpose behind these packages is for our developers to run them on individual databases whenever they need to. So I'm concerned that I may run into further access errors after this, but so far I can't find a reason why this connection would fail. Any ideas?
If I can supply more information please let me know. Thanks in advance for any information!

I have a simple SSIS package with three "Execute SQL Tasks". I am using ADO.Net Connection to execute SPs on a DB server.
When I execute this package It works fine. So far so good.
Now, I need to implement transation on this package. And problem starts now onwards. When I try to execute package after setting TransationOption = Required for the Sequence container which contains all the tasks, I get following error.
[Execute SQL Task] Error: Failed to acquire connection "NYCDB0008.Export". Connection may not be configured correctly or you may not have the right permissions on this connection.
"NYCDB0008.Export" is the name of the ADO.Net connection. I have been hunting for any solution but all in vain. I have tried changing all DTC settings on the dev as well as Database server.
Please respond if anyone has any solution.
Thanks!

Hi, I am relative newbie to SQLServer. When I try to take a user database offline, the query "hangs," with the query processing circle spinning. The Sharepoint 7 application is running on top of the Enterprise SQL Server 2005 db with several logins sleeping and awaiting commands. No errors are generated until I kill the offline command. Anyone have any ideas? Do I need to kill all the connections?

Hi,
I have 2 questions:
Is there any way of getting around the 128MB file size limit when creating and adding SSEv databases to VS2005? Currently I get the following error when trying to connect to a database:"The database file is larger than the configured maximum database size. This setting takes effect on the first concurrent database connection only...". This after I altered the app.config file to "...Max Database Size=600;..."
Have anyone tried to use SSEv to cache data with the use of the Smart Application Offline Building Block? Is there a provider I can use for doing this?
Thanks in advance!

I d like to discus with you the following REAL enough disaster scenario:
1. The TEST database is in the FULL backup mode.
2. WE have a full TEST DB backup and all tr. log backups.
3. DBA moved TEST database OFFLINE for maintenance operations.
4. MDF file for TEST DB was removed by mistake.
5. TRANSACTION LOG (LDF) file is OK.
6. DBA want to recover database to the point of failure.
According with MS SQL Server 2000 documentation it is possible.
We need to backup the transaction log , BUT I CANNOT DO THIS.
PLEASE, HELP.
In the same time, I can make LDF backup and recover database to the point of failure, if database is online and I stop/start SQL Server to remove MDF file.

I am thinking I must be doing something wrong..
I have dozens of packages that work as follows (high level... not listing all the steps just those relevant to this question)
- Get list of files in directory
- Join list to list of already imported files
- Those not imported put into an ADO.Net object
- Loop through ADO.Net record (which contains the filename) and import each file.
I just set the connection string of the flat file to be the variable in the loop (expressions.. connection string). Pretty standard stuff. Now I tried to do the same with a file connection (not a flat file) becuase I have a source that is from a mainframe and I had to write a custom source script and its not working. Basically the source script uses
oRead = oFile.OpenText(Me.Connections.FileConnection.ConnectionString)
And it opens the same file over and over (not ever changing as the ConnectionString expression changes like it does for flat files) and imports it even though I have verified the loop is correctly looping through all the different files.
Any thoughts as to what I am doing wrong?

I have the Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite trial version and the SQL Server 2005 trial (which came with team suite) installed in my machine.
When I installed the SQL Server 2005 I installed it in the Windows Authentication mode. So every time I open SQL Server 2005 it doesnt ask for Username/Password (Its greyed out). The only thing available were:
Server Type: Database Engine
ServerName: ServerSue
Authentication: Windows Authentication.
Here is my Problem:
I created a small application in C#. In the web.config file I created the following:
<appSettings>
<add key="resumecon" value="SERVER=ServerSue;database=Resume;"/>
</appSettings>
Then in the Code behind I created the following string:
string strResCon = ConfigurationManager.AppSettings["resumecon"].ToString();
Then in method (for a Login page) I created the connection string as follows and wrote code to insert some values into the Resume database. I called this method on a button click event.
SqlConnection conLogin = new SqlConnection(strResCon);
When I run the page and when I click the button I get the following error:
Login failed for user ''. The user is not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.
I think some thing is wrong in the addkey of webconfig? How do I change this?

So I set the Connection TimeOut every time I execute a sp. But this seems not working properly. I set this value to 5 and I execute a sp than runs in 15 but It waits for it.
Any idea

My total test page is shown below. I monitor the connections by SP_WHO2. Without the second call, connection pooling seems to be working, ie I refresh my browser repeately but the number of connections as seen from SP_WHO2 does not increase.
However, if I have the second call, every time I refresh the page at the browser, the number of connections increases by one. This is obviously not acceptable in a real world application.
I tried both Integrated Authentication (with no impersonation) and using a hardcoded service account. Both have the exact same results. In fact this test is not about multi-user yet, it is the same single user just refreshing the same page.
May I know what have I done wrong? All the documentation from Microsoft says close the connection after using it. In the case of SqlDataSource how do I close the connection?
Thanks

Hi, I'm fairly new to the asp.net enviroment.. I have a project in asp.net and I need to upgraded to asp.net 2.0... I just did that, and the few errors that I got are resolved already, the only error that I have not been able to figure out is when I tried to retrieve data from a database I get the following error:
An error has ocurred while establishsing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections.(provider:Named Pipes Provider, error:40- could not open a connection to SQL Server) and it points to the following line:
Dim ds As DataSet = Microsoft.ApplicationBlocks.Data.SqlHelper.ExecuteDataset(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings(GlobalD.CfgKeyConnString), CommandType.StoredProcedure, "PG_LST_MENU_BY_SUBJECT")
As I said before my project with the previous version works fine, and this is the only part that is giving me trouble...
thank you

Ok, here's my setup. I've got a named instance in a SQL 2000 cluster. I only have dbo rights on my database, because it is a shared infrastructure. Here's my current web.config connection string (the meat, anyway):
When I'm at the office, this is my connection string, pretty normal:
connectionString="Data Source=ServerNameInstanceName;Initial Catalog=blah..."
But, when I connect through the VPN, I can't just connect through the named instance - I have a specific port. This is where things get odd.
First, if I try to connect through SQL Server Management Studio (2005), i get nothing. If I try to connect using "ServerNameInstanceName, (comma) Port Number" it connects, but not to my instance. I get a seperate set of databases that I believe are in the default instance. So, I changed the comma to a semicolon (;) - and it still connected to the same thing - connected to the database, but to the wrong set of databases. So, on a whim, I tried plunking my string, which was now "ServerNameInstanceName;(semicolon) PortNumber" into the SQL 2000 Tools and it worked in both Query Analyzer and in Enterprise Manager. So, I thought, I'll just slam this into my connection string and all will be well. No. I can't use a semicolon in my connection string, and I can't find an escape character to use. Double semicolons don't work, a comma doesn't connect me properly, double colons don't work, the JDBC brackets don't work {} - so I'm at a loss. I'm out of ideas. I've set up aliases, and those don't work earlier.
I'm using ASP.net 2 with VB & C# and Visual Studio 2005 Professional. Thanks for any help anyone can give on this!

Hi there, I'm not exactly sure where to post this question, so I'll post it here.
I have 2 Windows XP machines, not part of a network domain. One of the XP machines is running SQL Server 2005 Express edition, lets call this DB machine. The other machine is just running my application - App machine. As part of my application, I want to be able to do a backup of the database.
The DB machine is also running the application. If I log into my application on the DB machine using SQL Server Authentication, and run the backup it works fine. (It's using the T-SQL BACKUP command). If it log into my application on the App machine, and try to do the backup, I'm getting an error saying that "The user is not associated with a trusted SQL connection". The same user is being used in both scenarios, and this user can update the database fine on the App machine, so it's not really a connection problem, it seems a permission problem. The SQL user I have created is a member of the db_backupoperator role for the required database.
Is anyone aware as to why I would be getting this error?

Hey guys,
I am pretty new to reporting software and I was just wondering in reporting services 2005 when working with multiple datasets and data connection string in order to populate text boxes if the data is a number it is prefixed with SUM at the start of the expression and if it is text it is prefixed with FIRST even though it is just for one value.
I was wondering if this is normal or have I messed up somewhere?
Many thanks.

I'm using SSDT 2012 to createĀ SMO Connection Manager for transferring server objects. However the connection is not working, it always returns error message something like "server is not found". I tried to connect multiple servers, with both Windows and SQL authentications, none of them works. I found the SMO.dll is already installed in the specific folder on my development machine. What would be the reason of this error?
Edited---Added the error message below. I can connect the server using OLEDB or ADO.NET. So my question is, is there a service, protocol or port .... to get SMO Server ready for responding?
