I have an Access2000 app placed on a shred drive. The problem i am having is that users leave it opened and take long breaks. Sometimes they leave it overnight. I would like to make corrections to the form but can't. How can I save and close all users. I would like to send a message telling all users to save any changes and give them 1 minute before shutting down.
I have been trying to use openrowset with a shared drive, and even though the share has "full control" permissions granted to "everyone" and the accout that SQL runs under has been granted explicit full control permissions I am unable to open the file which itself has no security on it.
Can I not use a \ path and only use mapped drives?
Thanks
below works...
SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0','Excel 8.0;Database=C:5People.xls', [Sheet1$])
below doesn't work...
SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0','Excel 8.0;Database=\cluster02FileManager5People.xls', [Sheet1$])
I have a shared drive mapped to the h: drive letter on my sql server and I want to create new databases on that drive. Is this at all possible? I try it and I couldn't see h: even if I typed it in.
Is this possible? I can only seem to restore when the *.bak is on a local drive which is ridiculous. I'm sure this translates to other operations in addition to restoring databases...
I know , it is not going to work , just wondering if anyone could give any reasons for that. Whether it was intentional constraint or just internally compact edition was designed in particular way which makes such a usage not possible. It is a pity that it doesn't work that way as it would be much easier transitional path for many Visual Foxpro , MS Access applications. In my case I just want READ-ONLY database either for multi-user access via shared drive or stand-alone on local drive.
I've one table which is contains sales Tax data and I need to send data(only for past month) to accounting person by every end of the month for Example. Today is July/1/2015 so I need to send data for month of June/2015.
Is there anyway I can setup a job to send a data. Also I am not able to send large file using OUTLOOK so is there any other Tool to send a data?
I am having an Access database on a shared network drive which has read/write access rights on the that shared network drive. When I try to Access data through the linked server it gives me gives me a message box saying you do not have permissions to view the data. Also if i try to use xp_cmdshell to copy over the mdb file to my local drive it say 'Access denied'
But when I copy (through command prompt) the same file to another network drive or my local drive where I have full control the linked server can connect sucessfully.
The problem is the i cannot have 'full control' permissions on shared drive where my database resides.
I want to convert the access2000 database to SQL server 2000. I am able to convert the tables but unable to convert the query as view in SQL server 2000.
please quide how to convert the query as view in sql server 2000.
Hi,I have written a stored procedure which includes a DATEPART command, i.e.DATEPART(weekday, <date>)The result when ran from SQL Query Analyser is as expected . i.e. Sundayreturns 1, Monday 2, etcWhen the same proc is called from within the Access 2000 project Sundayis returned as 7, Saturday as 6 instead of 1 and 7 respectively.Basically the same stored proc returns different data depending on fromwhere it has been called. This is causing some issues obviously as the resulting tables andreports are showing incorrect data when presented in Access 2000.Has anyone else experienced this before or have any idea what may cause it.Regards,PB
I'm trying to replicate a table(s) in access 2000 to MS SQL server 2000/2005 programatically on a timed instance and then have these tables merged in SQL to create one table.
I am trying to move a log file from one drive to another.
What I have done is add another file to my file group. So now my log has a file on the 'e' drive and one on the 'f' drive. I now want to remove the file on the 'e' drive. I have emptied the file on the 'e' drive. When doing the command:
ALTER DATABASE Uniprodruntime REMOVE FILE m_rk_runtime_log
I get the following error message..
Server: Msg 5020, Level 16, State 1, Line 1 The primary data or log file cannot be removed from a database.
I have also gone into enterprise manager and tried to delete the file and it does nothing.
1: TempDB keeps getting filled. Restart of the server has not fixed it. I shrink it, but the space gets filled again. Now I can't even shrink it anymore 2: TempDB is at the wrong location. Its current location is this :C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL10_50.SQLPROD6MSSQLDATA empdb
How do I change its location?
C:Program FilesMicrosoft SQL ServerMSSQL10_50.SQLPROD6MSSQLDATA empdb Correct location of TempDB should be: TempDB(T:) But its not there
Being a very novice SQL Server administrator, I need to ask the experts a question.
How do I go about moving a database from 1 drive to another? The source drive (C is local to the server, but the target drive (E is on a Storage Area Network (SAN), although it is still a local drive for the server. I want to move the database from C: to E:. Can someone provide me with instructions?
How to backup half of dbs from a server on C drive and the other half on D drive and vice versa, first half on D drive and other half On C drive using only one job and one stored procedure??
Using scheduling from job add 2 schedules to the job so first schedule backup first half to C and second half to D , the second schedule backup first half to D and second half to D.
We have an existing SSRS server, and have just created a new child domain. We'll be migrating users from the parent to the child, and want to add the users of that new domain with access to SSRS. In the parent domain they are able to access, but after migration with the child domain account, they cannot.
I have added the group CHILDDomain Users with a system user role on SSRS, and PARENTDomain Users was already there.
Is there any additional step I should/could take to get this active?
I have had this issue just pop up. I have local users who can connect fine, but my users that require connection by VPN cannot connect. I get the server not available or access denied error. I did confirm that the VPN'ers are connected to the network correctly and can see that their shares and mappings are correct. Any ideas? Thanking you all in advance!!
I am trying to revert back to Windows 7 after upgrading to Windows 10, however it will not let me and the following message occurs: "Remove new accounts. Before you can go back to a previous version of Windows, you'll need to remove any user accounts you added after the most recent upgrade. The accounts need to be completely removed, including their profiles. You created one account (NT SERVICEMSSQLSERVER) Go to Settings> Accounts> Other users to remove these accounts and then try again".However I did not create any new users and there are no other users listed in the Accounts section.
hi alli've got two tables called "webusers" (id, name, fk_country) and "countries" (id, name) at the meantime, i've a search-page where i can fill a form to search users. in the dropdown to select the country i included an option which is called "all countries". now the problem is: how can i make a stored procedure that makes a restriction to the fk_country depending on the submitted fk_country parameter?it should be something like SELECT * FROM webusers(if @fk_country > 0, which is the value for "all countries"){ WHERE fk_country = @fk_country} who has an idea how to solve this problem?
Maybe someone can suggest me some software which can be used for SQL 2005 shared hosting? With database size limit, user number restriction and other features.
Hi, I am trying to use shared variables in the emebedded code of a report. But when i assign a value to the shared variable in the detail level and access the same from footer it shows different value (0).
I declared an integer variable as a shared variable. And changed its value in the detail level. Then tried to access its value in the table footer.
Public Shared testVal As Integer
Function testValFunc() testVale = 25 End Function
In detail level i call Code.testValFunc() In footer -> Code.testValFunc() gives 0
Any Idea??? Is it because the header/footer is computed first and then the detail? - HelpSeeker
Exit it in sqlserver notion of shared connection or dedicaced connection like there is exist in oracle ? Exit it a part of memory (like PGA in oracle) who exist just for the connections ? Else what are constitued the memory in sqlserver ?
Ok, got an assignment from my boss.. Need shared storage for a 2 node cluster, with main focus on MSSQL DB Failover. We won't be storing alot of data, speed it not really an issue, just availability..
As far as I know I need 2 SCSI cards, 1 for each node. Node1 has to have ID7 and Node2 ID6 (for example)
this is it.. what's next? what's the best way to configure all this? Do I need a special box for all hard drives to be with certain controller?
But I wanted to run some sort of RAID on disk, mirroring is fine.. Anyone can suggest me what parts I should get for this setup? my servers don't have 64bit PCI too
Hi, I have noticed the the cubes that we have here use shared dimensions. For almost all cubes(5-6) there are at least 4-5 common dimensions. According to what I have been preached so far, the shared dimensions are so that you can reuse them. That is not what is practised here. for example. cube1 has somedim1, dim2_c1, dim3_c1... cube2 has xyzdim1_c2,xyzdim2_c2,dim3_c2..
dim3_c1 and dim3_c2 are the same dimensions, one for each cube. I don't know if I am missing something. Shouldn't the use the same dimensions? Could there be any reason for this. pls. advice.
