Login Page Just Refreshes With ASP.NET 2.0 Login Control

I am try to login using the ASP.NET 2.0 Standard Login Control. When I enter the correct userId/Password and hit the Login button, the page just refreshes, no error is displayed. But if I enter wrong userid/password..it give me an error.
Also I check the Membership.ValidateUser() returns true, that means the user is validated, but still I am able to redirect to ReturnURL.?
Is there something wrong with the Authentication, or Creating a cookie. Can somebody shed some light on this,

DISABLE ANONMYOUS ACCESS IN IIS
ENABLE WINDOWS AUTHENTICATION
I am getting the following output :

NOTE : The applicationName is same in web.config as well as in the aspnet_Applications table in SQL Server 2000 membership database.
Hello, I am currently trying to use the Login control in an ASP.NET website with IIS. The control works fine when I am running the website in debug mode within Visual Studio 2005. However, when I create the Virtual Directory in IIS, and try to log in from there, I get an error message as follows: Cannot open user default database. Login failed. The application is very simple. I created a Login.aspx page with a login control on it, and I have the default.aspx page. I used theASP.NET administration tool to change the authentication mode to AspNetSqlProvider (forms authentication), and to create one user (no roles). I am using the default provider with the aspnetdb.mdf database. I have been working on this for a few days now, and have searched this site but have not found a solution that works for me. Hi There, I have a really strange problem. I am creating a website with an administration back end. We have a seperate sql 2000 server which we are using hold authentication credientials (after having used the aspnet_regsql.exe to setup the appropriate tables. When testing the application on the local machine, everything works fine. The web admin works, I can login, I can retrieve data to display on the rest of the site. Once uploaded to the live environment things change.I can still connect to the sql server i.e. I have information being displayed on the public area of the site which is coming from the sql 2000 db. I can type in the incorrect login details to the admin section of the site and the system will return an error, which is correct as well, however, if I type in the correct login information, the page hangs for awhile and then displays this error: My question is, why is it doing this when it works find on my local box and the DB connection is actually working on other parts of the site? Been looking through the forums for a solution to this problem.I already tried granting access through statements such as:exec sp_grantloginaccess N1'machineNameASPNET'But they don't seem to work.. i vaguely remember seeing somewhere a DOS command line statement that grants access to the ASPNET_WP and that fixed my problem before on another computer.. but this is a new computer and i forgot to write down the command.Can anyone help explain and propose a solution to my problem. hi, so i have a new box and I'm trying to get my websites and SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition working on it, but the pages give me the following error when I try to load them: "Cannot Open Database "XXXX" requested by login. The login failed. Login failed for user 'xxx'" Everything seems exactly the same settings and user-wise from my old box to my new one, but nevertheless everything I've tried gives me the same error. I've tried creating new users in SQL Server and giving them appropriate permissions to my database. I've even tried just using the built in 'sa' account. Nothing seems to change the error, except when I give it the incorrect password then it just says 'login failed' This leads me to believe that i'm successfully logging into the SQL Server, but it doesn't want to give me access to the database I'm requesting access too. But "apparently" the account i'm using should have access to the database. If nothing else the 'sa' account should, but that didn't work either. I'm stumped. Any ideas?
I have built a page with the login control using the default sql server express database that is integrated into the application. I have got it working on my development machine and want to post it on the web with a web hosting company. I did not know if they had to have sql server express installed on that machine for my database to work properly or will it work with sql server 2005 installed. Most web hosting companies that I have called say they only support sql server 2005 and not sql server express. I was unsure if the login would work or not. Please help with this issue. I am new at ASP.net and really enjoy it. However, I want to ensure that my site will work on the web as it does on my machine.
Ok.. I have a web site I am developing in Visual Studio 2005. Its VB based with SQL Server 2005 as the backend. IIS 6 is the web engine and all of this is running on a Windows 2003 Server.
Here is the problem.. I have a form that authenticates a user and then redirects them to another page. The redirection is not working. All I get is 'Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again.' So I decided to trouble shoot a little and I added a Forgot your password control and a Sign up for new account control to the page as well. When I do the Forgot my password it sends me the username and password in an email, but it just refuses to accept them.
If I use the sign up for a new account control it actually lets me into the redirect page but if I log out and try to get back in it fails. Its crazy and if driving me out of my mind.
If someone wants to help me out I would appreciate it. I have been racking my brain over this for too many days.

Is it possible to control the number of simultaneous connections one login id can have? I`d like to avoid my users to share their login ids and passwords to help them enter data into the system.

I am using WebMatrix to create an ASP.NET login page (coding in VB), and I have a SQL server with a table in it called "LoginInfo". That table has three fields, "PrimaryKey", "UserID" and "PIN".
Basically, the goal is that the user goes to the page and enters their UserID and PIN into two different boxes and then pushes a button and it logs them into the page. My problem is, I have the UserID/PIN text boxes, I have the button, I have the SQLDataConnection (I just dragged the table from the Database onto the page and it made it for me), but I don't know what to do at all now.
How do I have the UserID text box check against the UserID's pulled from the table in the SQL server, and how do I have the PIN numbers check against the PIN numbers pulled from the SQL table, and then if they match up let the user into the site?
I'm sorry if this is a lengthy question to answer or if it is so simple its irritating, as I said I am a complete newbie.

-This is the error that is being generated once the site is hosted. If I run my code from my machine and access my remote sql 2005 database it works fine. It is when I try to login from my URL directly that I get the error. Any thoughts? Thanks.
By using DBCC Page I am able to exemine data entered to row and other changes related to the rows. What I want to know is; is it possible to find out (and how) which Login ID commited these change directly from pages or where do I need to look to find it out?
We've successfully set up SSRS with forms Authentication (yea - wasn't easy!)
If we browse to the default web site, we get the login page. Once we authenticate, we can move around the site and run reports.
If however, we try to access a page (other than the login page) while we're not authenticated we get an exception instead of being redirected to the login page:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object
If we set the Reportmanagerweb.config file to use Windows authentication, we get a 401 Access Denied page instead.
My first inclination would be to override the Global.asax file for SSRS, swallow the exception and redirect to the Login page. Not sure how to do this since the Global.asax.cs page isn't in the folder (I assume the compiled version hidden away somewhere).
It's not just the intial login either, timeouts are especially frustrating because, instead of being redirected to the login page, the users get the exception.
Any idea what might be causing the exception in the first place?

I am using asp.net 2.0 and using connection string in web.config <configuration> <appSettings> <add key="brian" value="server=SOURAV;uid=sa;pwd=#sa;database=test"/> </appSettings>
SOURAV is my local Database Server name.
I can connect server with the user name password from the SQL Server Management Studio, But the problem arise when i hit con.open() from asp.net page
error message show login failed for user 'sa'

What it does, it queries the a table using a connectionstring assigned to it in the Connection Managers Editor (which is an ado.net adapter). this works fine when i'm using a windows login in the ado.net connection manager. Cannot open database "QuoteSystem" requested by the login. The login failed.Login failed for user 'NT AUTHORITYNETWORK SERVICE'. Last time I recieved this error I had to add ASPNet, NTAuthority, and myWebSiteUsers USERS under the database properties-->permissions setting for the specific database I am trying to access with the website but this database(QuoteSystem) does not lists any of these objects so I can add them. All the logins with sysadmin role are locked out in one of the SQL server. Also in that instance Logon trigger is implemented which allows only certain users with Windows Authentication to logon.
This server is converted into single user mode by using command prompt. Now we are attempting to connect to SQLServer using command sqlcmd -S FTCPU3239 (since we do not have any other login) and create a new login with sysadmin role but are refused due to logon trigger. it says Login failed for login 'DomainNameUserName' due to trigger execution.
I have a server that has 20 databases . I have tested with few users with different level of access and all of them were able to connect to the server and also see, select, update , delete from a particular database which is kind of weird because they do not have a user login associated or mapped to that database. I checked and no user is part of any group in AD that would give them permission to connect . I need a query that would find the permission path of a user. I already queried with xp_logininfo but I am not getting any thing.

I currently have a login page in asp.net 2.0 linked to a SQL 2005 database table that holds the usernames and passwords. At present, I am on an "honor system" where I do have access to the passwords of the other users but would like to change it so that I cannot know what the users' passwords are. Thank goodness that there is no personal information within the pages and the logins were created to keep a log of who logs in and what not. However, I would like to soon hold more personlized information, hence the need to encrypt each user's password even from myself. I have read up on Symmetric Encryption for SQL 2005 but I would like to know if there is anything else available, any good proven methods that someone else has already tried. Also, while testing out Symmetric Encryption, I noticed that I have to supply the encryption password for the decryption. However, if I know what the password for the encryption/decription is, does it not defeat the purpose of having the encryption at all, in terms of the "Admin" having access to sensitive information? Just curious if I understood the concept correctly or not. Thanks in advance to all.

I receive this error message occasionally in my ETL - usually when trying to pull data from our source system:

There is a setting in the connections manager, under the ALL tab, Initialization, Connect Timeout. It is set to zero, which would be the default. It appears (by looking at the timestamps in my error log) that the default is 15 seconds. If I change this to a higher value (60 seconds or so) should this fix the error?
